Best case scenario is that not only do we get the Goblins and Skaven at it, we get the beastmaster Skaven at war with Eshin, as they sent an assassin to sabotage him and get him killed by the goblins.

I feel like this guy isnt that important, strategically. Tactically, he probably has some importance locally but on the grander scale? He's probably someones lackey.

I wonder... does Burning Shadows only effect living creatures caught in a shadow? Or could we use it to damage objects, like support beams for a platform?

At least from how I'm picturing it, there would be a fair few places in the structure where the shadows cast from the bonfires and support beams would lay across other support beams. Admittedly, I might be wrong with this visualization.

[X] Doppelganger to look like one of the armored Skaven, then try and assassinate the Goblin Leader. Be seen as a Skaven assassin, then flee into the shadows.

It burns like acid. Superficial damage to objects only without extended burning

Sucks that this doesn't look like it'll work. Collapsing the platform seems like the way to get the most dramatic effects we can, and the setup is just about perfect for it, but I'm having trouble figuring out the best way to accomplish it.

I wonder if burning shadows would rate as more or less suitable than using our magical replacement for enchanting tools to quietly dismantle the supports, possibly while doppelgangering/take no heeding our way into blending into the crowd.

Bullets too, saw that with the ghosts in Sylvania.

The mastery only works on the gun itself, but she can cast it manually on the bullets.

Would Pall of Darkness followed by Substance of Shadow work to take out a support?

Pall of Darkness blocks your line of sight too, so casting it on the support first won't work. Casting it on the fire or between the fire and the support would, but if would be very blatantly a magical effect.

Re: Substance of Shadow - it's a finicky spell. On a properly-made structure, it wouldn't work because it would continue the physical affect it was already having on what it was holding up. But the platform creaks and shifts with every gesture the two atop it make, which would interrupt that continual physical affect and cause the support to fall away.

It also has the same choosiness about shadow that Burning Shadows does, in that it distinguishes between explicitly cast shadows and just being in darkness.

So while attempting the Assassination is certainly tempting, I would like to point out that minor Skaven/Goblin alliances are super uncommon but they are also incredibly temporary and fragile. We can bring this to the attention of the Dwarves and come up with a more thorough plan to destroy the Alliance and get them fighting with each other, one that will stick beyond the initial Chaos.

As such I think it's best to focus on our mission of gathering information.

[X] You've scouted this area, now...
-[X] To the Chiselwards, an enormous warren of tunnels that could house any number of horrors.

Chose this one because we know how dangerous such Unknowns can be and it would probably be a good idea to find out what is waiting for us there. We can then use the next action to head to the King's Gate, where we can scout and hit them from behind during the assault.

Uh...the first part doesn't link to the second.

They're temporary and fragile which is why we want to kick it off the ledge and start infighting moments before the army arrives.

Rather than after our army arrives where mutual foe keeps them allied for the moment

How about casting Eye of the Beholder on the skaven's whip? Whatever alliance there could be won't survive sudden fight over a bit too shiny thing. Pall of Darkness could have a similar effect - every party would consider any sorcerous surprise a sign of betrayal I'd bet.

[x] Attempt to incite infighting using your array of confusing spells: Eye of the Beholder to incite fight for a shiny thing, if that fails - Pall of Darkness and Bewilder to confuse and provoke thoughtless lashing around
[x] Trail runaway Skaven to find where they call home.

Thinking about it, wouldn't we just need to move closer to the bonfires to cause them to simmer down? We do have that Arcane Mark that causes fires to dim in our presence. Would that be enough to Substance of Shadows the Supports of the walkway?

It would be pretty cool to make our Arcane Marks do the work for us.

Maybe we're overthinking the whole 'tip over the platform' thing. The way it's described sounds like Mathilde might be able to make her way over to it and just cut a few ropes or something to knock it over.

I like this idea. Even on a miss, goblins are likely to ask very pointed questions of the skaven.

Wouldn't a greatsword give us away? Need to borrow one of those halberds or use magic for the assassination.
