[ ] Attempt to assassinate the Night Goblin leader...
-[ ] Immediately.
-[ ] After the Skaven leave.
Night Goblins capers and cackles, his distended form so rippling with muscle that he seems more like a squat orc than a Goblin. His mad grin reveals gums embedded with shards of glowing warpstone where teeth should be, and every movement produces clanging from the layers of mismatched metal plates covering his torso.
Dangerous and risky but we do have a gun and no matter who these guys are if they have their head blown off they're going to die. Killing the goblin leader could quite possibly destroy any decent attempt at defense and would also send the room into chaos. A high risk, high reward option.
Best to do it while the skaven are around to cause a distraction rather than wait for them to leave.
[ ] Attempt to assassinate the Skaven leader...
-[ ] Immediately.
-[ ] After they leave, and you have trailed them a safe distance from the Hall.
equally oversized but with bloated fat rather than muscle is a hideous, balding rat-man, deep in discussion with the Goblin and lighting up the hall with crackles of green lightning as he gestures with his whip.
Similar to killing the Goblin leader except not as valuable. Probably similar in difficulty too.
[ ] Attempt to interfere with the Hall of the Moon...
-[ ] By freeing the Orc prisoners.
-[ ] By freeing the wagonload of giant rats.
The wagons are piled high with dog-sized cages, and through the bar you can see the silhouettes of rats
Trapped within the pit are hundreds upon hundreds of orcs
Cause chaos and run. We did something similar before when we burnt the doomdiver wings. Do it right and it might even be seen as an accident or something done by the goblin/skaven faction. We've managed to come here at a delicate time so it definitely seems like a valuable chance to do some damage. Medium reward, low-medium risk.
The rats seem to stuck in a large number of smallish cages rather than one large cage which will make it hard to unleash them for a lot of damage since we'd have to deal with each cage, the orcs despite their numbers and strength are stuck in a pit and even if we get them an exit it will likely be an easily blocked and destroyed choke point. However the distraction might just ruin the negotiations between the two factions.
[ ] Trail the Skaven leader after he leaves, to find where he calls home.
- If you attempt to trail the Skaven home, you would almost certainly miss the arrival of the Vanguard.
We can discard this as an option. We'd lose far too much for a dubious gain.
[ ] You've scouted this area, now...
-[ ] To the King's Gates, to scout the outer defences.
- You have time to scout two more places and meet the Vanguard at or inside the gates, or one more place and escape via the secondary peak.
The safe choice. We leave with the intel we gained and head to the King's Gates. If there's a good opportunity we take it and then likely proceed to the artillery emplacement. low reward, no extra risk.
[ ] Other (write in)
-[ ] Fake a betrayal and get the two forces to kill each other
[] Doppelganger to look like one of the armored Skaven, then try and assassinate the Goblin Leader. Be seen as a Skaven assassin, then flee into the shadows.
A score of heavily-armoured man-size rats grip halberds and eye the chattering Night Goblins with caution
hovering near them, transfixed by their equal fear of the warrior-rats and the surrounding Goblins, are much smaller Skaven
The most obvious write in option. Either an attack from the shadows (possibly even a shot from our revolver at the goblin leader) or using doppelganger to attack or using bewilder or dropping pall of darkness, etc. Skaven are notoriously treacherous and always expecting treachery themselves so something like this seems quite plausible.
Other insights
Now for some other notes it looks like the Skaven are here to sell a bunch of monstrous rats to the Night Goblins so they can unleash them on the Dwarfs. The Skaven that we see here certainly seems like a beastmaster type. The stacks of empty cages are somewhat ominous though, I'm wondering if they've already been bought and moved elsewhere.
Final Thoughts
This is a good opportunity to prevent two potent forces from working together. Even better we can set them against each other and possibly even decapitate the leadership of the night goblins. The best way of doing this is likely taking advantage of the goblin/skaven natural distrust to cause some chaos and then possibly make it worse by dropping some ladders for the orcs if we haven't been made. If everyone's busy with the chaos of something else then they'll be too busy to deal with the orcs until it's too late and the orcs will prevent anyone from being able to calm things down.
Edit: while I was writing this [] Doppelganger to look like one of the armored Skaven, then try and assassinate the Goblin Leader. Be seen as a Skaven assassin, then flee into the shadows. was made. It fits perfectly with one of my suggestions, some doppelganger and Take No Heed action are likely to be very effective. So I've put it in under my example write in as a good write in. Possibly following things up with pall of darkness and dropping some ladders for the orcs would be good but it's probably best not to micromanage Mathilde too much by making it an explicit addition.
