Here's an attempt at a plan:

[X] Remove blood-stained robes, leave the room, and lock the door behind us with Magic Lock. Head over to the Courtyard while attempting to remain calm/avoid drawing attention, to find Markus.
- [X] If Markus is at the Courtyard, appraise him on the situation quietly and attempt to find van Hal, both to ensure our liege's safety, and to place ourselves under his command. If van Hal cannot be found, try to find Kasimir.
- [X] If Markus is not at the Courtyard but other Greatswords are, take them with us [with a vague excuse about "be wary - treason is afoot"] and try to find van Hal
- [X] If the Courtyard is deserted of Greatswords, check the Study for van Hal; if he's not to be found, look in the Chapel for Kasimir.
-- [Q] If no one can be found, get out of the castle - everyone is probably dead
- [X] If Sir Berthold is at the Courtyard, probably safe to bring along a warpriest whose flaw is being too zealous, while executing whatever of the above is applicable.

Should Shadowsteed be in those plans somewhere, or is it assumed/infeasible in the castle? Because both the speed and the martial boost seem like things we'd want when we're alone and trying to reach help before gribblies reach us.

[X] Run out the room toward the courtyard while shouting "Zombies in the walls!".
- [X] If Markus or another named character are encountered then explain to them what has happened and tell them to quarantine the castle while awaiting direction from the Count.

I would suggest we burn down the castle but i have a feeling the Count wouldn't let that fly. :V

Lets save that for AFTER the alarm is raised.
Mage not wearing robe = something has gone terribly wrong

Still a dead givaway :V
We do our sword training in breeches not robes though?

Derpwizard gives us a lot of excuses for being eccentric!

We've gone to Markus many times in not-robes for sword training.

Slightly eyebrow-raisingly short in the arm and leg, but not scandalously so.
But... it shows an ankle! An ANKLE! And I detect some wrist!

Also, something we should consider for future personal wardrobe- make sure we have inconspicuous 'normal clothes' under the robes, so we can ditch it and blend in.

Bringing in Sir Berthold is tempting, but best stick only to people we are reasonably sure of standing around or behind the boss with ready naked steel.

Hmm. What about 'Mindhole any castle staff hanging around on the interview room corridor, just in case'

Mindhole added.
We love that spell

@BoneyM
I have three questions
1.) Does Mathilde suspect the culprit is non-human in some way? The comments about "inhuman speed" and "the thing that just tried to kill you" might suggest so, or they might just be a poetic turn of phrase.

2.) If so, how obvious is it that the culprit is non-human? Is it clear now that he's dead, or does he still look entirely human?

3.)
As a side-note, I got halfway through writing what happened to you from holding the death sword when it discharged before I remembered the Ranald's Gift bonus.
Just one t of curiosity, what would've happened if we hadn't added Ranald's Blessing?

Good questions. But you might want to tag the QM, though.

I can't wait till we get Master level on mindhole.

I dunno what that'll mean, but I know is gonna be good

Some days I wonder about the typical day of our fellow advisors...
We are basically a major reason for the inprovements overall. Don forget that it is EXPECTED for the peeps to be incompetent. What we have are mostly mediocre so by the places standard we have a couple geniuses already.

Oh and i vote for
