Skryre mostly though they also use lightning and WarpStone Bullshit
Strictly speaking all of them but Skyre does it more and Pestilens even more so.
Yeah, Skryre's Poison Wind weaponry. Well, and Pestilens with their Plague Censers and general plague weapons.
Given the lack of (known) Pestilens in Eight Peaks, I guess gas will be mostly the province of Skryre then. IIRC they're the ones under the dragon, right? I wonder if they have any weapons, gas or otherwise, which they've been planning to use against the dragon just in case. Might be useful to take a looksee.

@BoneyM would Kragg me amiable if Mathilde suggested Johann does the spell on the axe, tells Kragg what he figured out. Then have Mathilde Mindhole him go forget it?

Edit: wait nevermind now I feel dumb forgot how to spell worked specifically...

Editedit: would there be any alchemical potion to make Johann forget the axe Rune knowledge?

No.

can we figure out Gas masks, then have one that looks like a plague doctor mask?

Yes.

@BoneyM an Artifact based on Boon of Hysh which makes his wielder inmune to disease an poison as a passive effect would it cost 5 favors or more?

It would, but it would also interfere with Mathilde's spellcasting.

Would it had any other effect?

As a constant effect, no. As a triggered effect, it would be the same as the base spell.

What's maximum dwarf lifespan? Do they have one?
Dwarf lifespan is weird, they typically live for about 200 years before succumbing to "old age", but it's different for them than humans.
Regarding dying of natural causes, a Dwarf seems to stave off the grim specter of death so long as they have a purpose, something to give them the drive to continue to persist in living, others are seemingly too stubborn to die. This appears to have no hard limit, Dwarves exceeding 200 years in age are called Greatbeards, venerated elders respected for their experience and wisdom, the very few who exceed 400 years are known as Living Ancestors, who can basically do whatever they want.
Kragg's been trucking for over 1500 years and counting, most of it seemingly out of sheer spite, though as of late he's certainly found new purpose to dedicate himself to.
When their time does eventually come a Dwarf will be able to feel their body beginning to fail them as they lose strength, and knowing that their time is upon them they will begin to make preparations; summoning friends and family, speaking with a priest of Gazul, making funeral arrangements, and reading out their last wishes before spending their remaining time however they wish before the end, usually quietly amongst friends and family.

I consider both substance of shadows and "able to cast and counterspell" important to Mathilde's buff array, but I can see how one might think otherwise. Personally I think she's quite good at swording already and if we want a battle magic oh-shit button I'd rather invest in a powerful AoE damage spell than a personal prowess amplifier.
Could you elaborate ? I am having a hard time seeing the logic, Substance of Shadows break with any light, it is very good but also situational, any situational, is is either useless or makes the problem a non-insue so I don't see why it would factor it, and again while dispeling is something we are awesome at a situation where we are focused on that isn't one where we would be using Speed of Light, and if dispeling could help during one turn our equipament tend to have it reasonably covered.

My problem with area of effect spells is that they tend to be indiscriminate and we tend to find ourselves in oh shit situation during infiltration so chances to use it that way would be rare, on the other hand I think people forget how ridiculous our sword is, with speed of light we would have almost maximun killiness in a controlable away witch would be more flexible to use.

The problem isn't the specific secret. Its that Gold wizards can with one touch bypass some protections on Guild Secrets, which means EVERYTHING they trade to humans can be used to steal guild secrets AND kills the fig leaf of "well the humans figured this out on their own already".

Doesn't that kind of mean that it would theoretically only take a single gold wizard who knows anything about dwarf copyright going mad (and/or falling to chaos) to completely scupper dwarf-human relations for good?

Now that I think of it, maybe a better explanation would be that divination/precognition/postcognition spells don't work on runed items; like, you could divine the location or general circumstances of one, but looking too closely fouls the spell when it interacts with the runes.

Fun Fact, while the empowered version gives it more hits and a greater area of effect the hits are still only S4, an Emperor Dragon is around T8 so it would only be hurt on 6+, meaning he has a very good chance of emerging unscated.

I think you focused so much on wanting that thing you forgot is an uncontroled vortex of fire, whose primary use is eliminating large amounts of enemies in a situation you don't care much for what is around those enemies, that is pretty much the diametric oposite situation of trying to fight an emperor dragon, so of course it is very bad at it, we should look single target spells if we want to damage it.
You forget Battle Magic is 100% fluff, 0% crunch for Divided Loyalties.

I'm not particularly concerned about anything else, but I am absolutely tickled by the idea of getting LM Olenus a firkin of good dwarven ale as thanks for his help regarding Mathilde's spell. While I'm not sure about his ability to appreciate the quality for what it is (given I don't know his taste in ale), the gesture certainly shows our appreciation.

I keep saying not including the Cartographer project from last turn might backfire on us, but I guess we'll see.

Some random thoughts on latest update:

-It seems Roswita has more to learn ontje most important part of waging wars - logistics. Luck was with her, thankfully, and we had some unlikely heroes in the form of handgunners armed with Anton's new rifles.
Good on them.
Though I am a bit surprised that Battle Wizards went under the radar, but as long as there were no catastrophic miscasts, that's quite alright.

-Francesco's quite likable, and I am really liking what I am seeing so far. I would be happy to dedicate socials to him in the future, even if we decide not to pursue him romantically.
I hope that his vision comes to pass.

-Kazrik is just such a gem. And competent, too! Good in combat, good at diplomacy, an apprentice runesmith to boot! He deserves his place in the Council. I hope we interact more with him. I could see him becoming a friend.

-So, half and half on Skaven assault. Too bad that the assault on Under-Nuln failed, that was the greatest catch by far.
Still, better something than nothing.

-Our fief is looking good, and Steward's a good lad. Let him reinvest the existing wealth. It will never be something grand, but that's alright.
The improvements so far, as well as the potential new ones, will still create a significant, positive and permament changes for the locals. The fief and its inhabitants will be better for Mathilde's existence.
And that's enough.

-Wow, Gretel seems to like it very much here. I am warming up to her, though a Wizard with thief-like tendencies living with the Dwarfs makes me nervous. I am maybe too harsh on her.

Max's my favorite, though. I am really happy at his improvement.

Adela is being really hard-working and proactive. Good for her! I hope we do a nice thing or two, to encourage that growth.

Hubert needs our help the most imho. It's not our job nor legal obligation to aid him, but I think he has quite a lot potential and that Mathilde and all around him would benefit from him realizing it.
Panoramia has her priorities straight, especially as she isn't ready for a magister title, imho.

Johann needs our, or Max's help. Adela could maybe help also, but I am unsure if the Gold College would like yet another member of another College mucking around if it doesn't have to.

Good ol' warhammer worldbuilding consistency. XD

What about high elves?
Elves live for several thousand years easy, their version of "old age" is kinda sorta like a Dwarf's, with a few differences
Namely they don't really experience old age at all in the human sense of the word, rather an elf will eventually just... tire of life, they lose passion for living at some point millennia down the road and slip away, a lot like how a Dwarf will eventually run out of reasons to keep living only with more active depression involved
Presumably an Elf can also keep persisting by simply never falling into such a mindset, by sheer spite if nothing else
I don't know the details, but they are almost certainly aware of impending natural death much like a Dwarf would be and have their own customs of making peace before they pass away
