We've been putting off the arcane marks for ages. I'm not shifting on this. It's time! We can look into Karaz Ankor's waystones later, for now let's get this done.

EIC Gold is likely to be very useful when we head to the rich and magical Ulthuan and also it's on a timeline where it's value is likely to start diminishing.

Library
I think at this stage improving our library's stocks to make it more appealing is the best move. Besides we went to the effort of being able to get access to Nuln's libraries so it makes sense to take advantage of that to improve our library. Not attached at the hip to that though.

I've currently set it to the Imperial Gunnery School since it's well regarded and likely Nuln's most famous institution which should result in a bit of a buff to our reputation, even if that reputation isn't for their library.

Eike Study and Actions.
Eike's actions are mostly just getting involved where she can learn interesting things or be useful.

Minor question, since it has been some time since Johann went blind by now.

Wasn't it possible to either try again or heal him some years in the future?
Something about the Chamon having to disperse?
Iirc we got told that it's possible but it would need to be done by someone that can do high magic to filter out the chamon and then restore with either light of life... So probably an elf is needed.
 
You know what, Let me take a crack at apparations not being deamons argument. What proof do we have?

Primary proof;
Mathilde bound one to her soul and sensed no Chaos energies.(Case study esentially) (Reminder, she has counter-Chaos training so she would know)

Secondary proof;
Three other collages bound apparations and found no Chaos corruption.
External exemination by Order of Light on Gehenas Golden Hounds found no Chaos corruption (Reminder, Lights don't bind apparations)
Hysh spells that banishes deamons don't work apparations. (Reminder, there is another spell that banishes denizens of Immaterium that works)
Elves use apparations.
Addendum There is no deamons we know of that does not have also dhar in them Apparations have no dhar ergo they are not deamons.

Tertiary proof;
Djinn is not considered deamons.
So conclusion; Apparation Deamon.

Discussion; are apparations are Deamon like? My answer would be that is a distinction without meaning. IF we are broadening the definition that much Gods would also count Deamon like so there is no point and would tell us nothing. Does this look bad to the people on the street, yes but that is reason to keep quite not a reason to stop research about Apparations.

I expect I will be approval-voting widely for the first few hours or so; in general, I prioritize investigating the Karaz Ankor network with Thorek and Eike, making progress on our backlog, and preparing for the Elfternship by increasing our skills or gaining control of an Arcane Mark.

EDIT: Dropping my vote for Pondering Orbs and Nuts because I prefer the second-place plan more.

After things calm down a bit I'll make a voting guide to all the plans in the hopes of helping people parse all the plans and variants.

Here are my plans for the turn. Both plans feature studying the Ghyran Nut with Panoramia and working on our Unnatural Shadow Arcane Mark. The plans differ in which EIC action they take, with Plan Pondering Orbs and Nuts reselling Ithilmar to gather funds to spend when we go on Elfcation, and Plan An Enchanting Study Date with Panoramia helping the Rite of Way bridge to Laurelorn finish sooner. The thread seems passionate about which EIC action to take, however I encourage fans of the Ghyran Nut study and Arcane Marks to approval vote both plans until it is clear that plans with those actions will win.

I think that attempts to restore Johann's original eyes are distinctly unambitious. Instead he needs to go on a quest for some ancient golden cyber-eyes from an unknown source and implant them in their place…

More seriously, does anyone know if non-evil magical prosthetics are a thing? Any elves out there with enchanted glass eyes?
 
Because I made the point that it might be academically ok but that has no bearing on how the movers and shakers of the empire would perceive it, and then I got flooded with "but it's not a daemon, and it can't be because the lights! And the elf's do it too." Which have almost no bearing how the empire elite would react to finding out about what amounts to a conspiracy of several orders of magic to keep certain spells hidden to not be asked uncomfortable questions!

Ok so I'm going to repeat myself here but the only thing I was talking about was what would happen if it came out the wizards were hiding what they do with aparations, which is immediate distrust from the higher echelons of the empire about why the wizards are so insistent that they hide this particular part of their wizards if it's "not illegal."
Following me so far? Because it might not be an admitting of guilt but that doesn't actually matter too much in the world we are playing this game in. The colleges could point towards their academic study of the subject and the only thing one would hear back is "so the wizards are telling me the wizards aren't guilty."

All plans are pretty close this turn, though. Which is expected with 2/5 (+Serenity) basically non-negotiable before we started. Father Plans are the most outlier-ish, but it does seem like a good turn for it to me so long nothing goes wrong with the prototype.

Edit a few hours on, after plans settled: adding the alternate Nuts plan without Eike on the KAU action. If a Nuts plan is to succeed, of the two I'd rather it be that one.
