[X] Plan Incorporate the Watch
-[X] Rewrite the relevant part of the legal code of Stirland so that the Watch reports to you, personally. (will face pushback from existing Watchmen; will take two turns; the Watch will come permanently under your control)
-[X] Integrate the Roadwarden network into the Watch.
-[X] Integrate the rat catchers, sewer-jacks and gong farmers into the Watch.
-[X] Ground Floor: Start putting people on your payroll into the EIC before it even begins, so you'll have information flowing right from the start. (NEW)
-[X] Investment: Wilhelmina has offered you the limited-time chance to become a founding shareholder in the EIC; the buy-in will be a cool 1000 crowns, but with Van Hal's permission, Wilhelmina has offered you an interest-free loan from the Stirlandian Treasury to cover it, and promises that unless something goes terribly wrong, the dividends will more than pay for it. (NEW)
-[X] Knighthood: There's a ceremony, of course. And a number of oaths to make. And you'll have to visit your 'estate'. But gosh. Dame Mathilde. (NEW)
-[X] Free Time: Now well-established in Wurtbad, you can spend some time in your scant off hours getting to know someone better. Kasmir. (no action required) (NEW)
-[X] Expand the ranks of the Watch, so that they're able to start covering even the poorer parts of Wurtbad.
-[X] Renald's Blessing.
-[X] Expand the Watch to cover the rest of the County of Wurtbad
-[X] (optional) Suggest a coat of arms, either by description or linking an image. A Grey Shield. Upper left: a snake being crushed in a woman's hand. Upper right: A black cat. Lower Right: A sword. Lower Left: An ornate leaking box.
-[X] (optional) Family motto. Always Watching

Put three swords together like Wilhelmina's thing. Then it's a cross (+) and a cross (X) but it still harkens back to you, Markus and Van Hal.

ah but if you raise a sword at an angle, preparing to strike down, crossed with another sword in a mirrored position, while held by black cats panthers and maybe with one paw has one claw accidentally on purpose painted over another claw in a subtle, out of the way corner, then you achieve Maximum Ranald
EDIT: perhaps there could be a third sword in the center with like a symbol of Ulgu or the Grey Order or something

[X] [Coat] A white flamberge thrust into the ground on a field of black, with a grey shawl wrapped around it, hilt and blade, fluttering in the wind. Grey clouds across the top and a grey band across the bottom, with two cats on the bottom band flanking and menacing a snake under the swordpoint.
[X] [Motto] Unseen, but not Unfelt.

After all, if we are to start a house, not all our descendants will be wizards, or belong to the same college. The shawl to remind them of how it started, but the sword for their duty.

It also works if one is not a Grey Wizard. The clouds can mean the oncoming storm, and the shawl fluttering in it can be it tasting the wind, to help the sword ready for what is to come.

As for the motto, it seems kind of depressing. Not Undone? What kind of duty is that to leave to our House? Endure? Seems a bit, passive.

Unseen, but not Unfelt draws on the idea:"None saw their passing, yet not one could deny that their presence was felt." Works for battlefields, parties and the High Court.

Does the Investment take one of our six actions, or just more debt?

[ ] Undead Research: This is Stirland. Time to bone up on your knowledge of the Undead.
We've been in Stirland four years and haven't found the time for this.
[ ] Enchantment: You're naturally talented at enchantment; so far, this just amounts to being able to make your desk meow for about an hour. See if you can improve on that, or at least figure out a way to make that useful.
Or this. So much to doooooo.

I love everything about this plan. It hits all of what I view as the very important things.

Having some informants while trying to take over makes sense. It lets us know more about them in the meantime, and allows us to continue if we think they are getting out of hand. We can always cut back on the informants later if they feel unnecessary, but for now I view them as a good addition to have. Let's us know if and how the leaders start trying to push back so we have advance notice. It also tells us how integration is actually going if the leaders lie.

I especially love apologizing to Kasmir. Was just thinking about how we were kind of a dick in the heat of the moment. Mathilde had nearly been killed because of his refusal and was unfairly harsh because of it. Making him look bad in front of the boss was pretty shitty as well. Didn't take into account how he'd healed her before or how he was actually injured in that same incident. If he wasn't under the Arch Lector's thumb, I'd go as far as to add something about asking if she could do something to make it up to him.

@BoneyM does Mathilde even know any noble etiquette? She's going to have to spend a lot of time learning courtly stuff, not to mention start thinking about getting married.

No, no, no. It should be a sword piercing the throat of a snake.

It gives symbology that we were knighted for our work in cutting away snakes, it gives symbology as to what our job in the future will be, and it gives symbology to anyone who knows that we beat a wisdom asp. It also gives a nod to the Grey Order.

i like to see the evil looks snake coming out off a mirror about to bite that looks like the dark mark from harry potter but theirs a shadow on the side that impales it pining it to the ground

Seems fine, though I'm not sure if the coat of arms isn't already overloaded. Keeping in mind these things are meant to be distinguished across a battlefield, on a relatively small piece of cloth.

To explain the motto reference:
-Unseen, not Undone actually refers to our enemies. We learned from the start, just because we don't see them doesn't mean they are gone. It's a sort of grim reminder thing.
--Castle infiltrators were literally under our nose. Hell, we literally stabbed some buried in the walls, but forgot they were there.
--The Wisdom's Asp was trying to kill us for YEARS. We didn't even notice :V

That everyone would misunderstand it to be a "I Ain't Dead" was a plus :p

Does the Investment take one of our six actions, or just more debt?

We've been in Stirland four years and haven't found the time for this.

Actions which are free are listed so. I imagine we have a lot of complicated documents to sign.
And yeah. Mathilde had gone this long without reading up on undead. She's been relying on the greatsword instead.

Sketched up a possible coat of arms outline, JPEG everywhere:

I urge the thread to please consider just how cluttered it would get with the various suggestions to add cats and shawls and clouds and boxes leaking rainbows and everything that sounds fun. Complicated coats of arms like the Spanish one usually result from the incorporation of multiple sub-realms (Castile, Aragon, Leon, Granada, Navarre) plus the pre-existing dynastic shield of the house that came to rule it.
Mathilde, as a newly made knight, should really have a simpler shield.
The Box in particular should very much not be on there because it will get people asking questions.

I get your point, still, right now the snake seems much too sidelined.
If you want to focus on just the 'vanquishing of the snake' make the sword vertically impale the snake (maybe with the snake in an '8' like it is now, but larger and in the centre, with the sword impaling it just where the 8 intersects.
Apart from that, I like the background and the grey stripe, I'd vote for that crest if you'd just change the orientation a bit.

The sword and the stripe together form a subtle ranald's cross. If we make sword vertical, we should get a cat there or something.
