I'm... not sure using the protector coin is really... worth it? If we are going out and getting into fights and other dangerous things, it seems to me it'd be much more helpful to have 2 +20s to help keep us alive than to just make sure people know we helped them.
Grey wizards are almost never acknowledged as heros. Free publicity means free Favors and Fame, both of which Mathilde likes.

The go-to example, I think, would be slaying some horrible monster in the hills that nobody knows about. We'd get the legend of having done so without having to go promote ourself and become known as a braggart trying to get everybody to buy her drinks for slaying some monster nobody's heard of before.

To give a less hypothetical example, if we'd had the effect on before entering Karag Nar (and were okay with letting everybody know), we wouldn't be arguing about how we could convince everybody we poked an evil god in the eye, they would just know. If we're expecting to do equally improbable things, we can flip to the protector for a few months and actually get the credit for all our crazy feats.

Dame Mathilde Weber, with a literally supernatural PR campaign, could become a legendary name, and that sort of thing is how people end up becoming supernatural entities of various intensities after they die.
Personnaly, I saw it as Ranald going: Hey, I'll have your back if you go hero hoboing, and you've prove yourself enough that'll I'll even let you choose what kind of blessing you want.
Yeah, I think it's just an acknowledgement that if we get stuck in the chaos wastes for a decade he isn't going to leave us. Likewise, we aren't going to just stop paying homage to him because we no longer need to in order to get our payout from him; we're friends, and that we continue doing nice things for each other is just what friends do.

Why not just tame the trolls or establish a husbandry from where trolls can be hired in exchange for food. Maybe some help from a wizard that specializes in animals.

... Alright, look, I'm going to be blunt: this idea, like literally every one of your ideas in the thread that I can recall, is poorly thought out and ignorant of setting lore at best. Not only is this not possible, it's not something the dwarves would ever even consider countenancing -- and seeing as this is their turf, they get to decide what happens.

Excuse you. She's a Magister of the Grey Order, not some transforming magical girl.

Well, she transforms, she's magical, and she's a girl, but... uh... she's definitely not Japanese!
maybe not ethnically but look at that pic and tell me Matty isn't an anime character. even has the stolen oversized clothing article from the protagonist (abel's hat). We chose this road a long time ago and it's too late to turn back. May Morr escort us to the paradise we don't deserve, amen. :(

The idea of troll farms is pretty amusing, though. I don't think troll meat is safe for humans, especially troll met from a mountain with a massive hunk of warpstone, and even if it was it'd probably take too much effort and supplies to raise trolls for slaughter. Troll leather is probably pretty strong, but again you'd be wearing the skin of a creature that's been fundamentally changed by Chaos. The likely best product to farm from them is their bile, for use in anything from metal refining to other industrial cleaning to fertilizer, depending on what sort of acid it is. Also, for weapons. A big projectile full of troll bile sounds like a useful-if rather dangerous to transport-type of ammunition for trebuchets and mortars, as long as the shell can survive being fired.

Also, all the greenskins need to turn lots of those trolls into allies is large amounts of food to bribe them. Which was presumably how the goblins populated their troll pit.
What about if we instead bribe them by giving them lots of food? Getting our enemies to kill each other would be a pretty good way to go about things.

Kvinn Wyr basically acts as a natural defense for the eastern Karags and if the dwarfs fortify the Sentinels and the tunnels connecting them to the trolls they're not much of an issue as the trolls are a minor threat when not unified. There's some merit to leaving the mountain alone and letting troll specialists deal with the infestation one tribe at a time. There's a minor danger that the Skaven will steal the Warpstone for nefarious purposes but the main issue that makes the entire mountain a danger is if either the Greenskins or the Skaven recruit the trolls against us.

Can we turn this on it's head though? Recruit the trolls ourselves rather than give the initiative to our enemies. If Greenskins can convince trolls to fight for them for the promise of food then Mathilde disguised as a Greenskin should easily manage.

If your only experience with Warhammer is Bloodbowl, though, you'd know that the Mighty Zug, an Ogre star player, plays for the Reikland Reavers. And how different could ogres and trolls possibly be?

Greenskins- plural- may be able to bribe trolls into fighting for them.
A Greenskin, singular, would instead I fear be seen *as* food.

We haven't really use Mathilda's Mystical Matrix enough. Convince a couple humans to receive it and Doppelganger into Orcs with the promise of a free spell of their choosing as a reward. The Matrix is criminally underutilized as is.

Is the voting still open?

[X] The death of the Warboss and the shattering of an Almost-Rogue Idol.
[X] You'd have done the same once. Tell her you understand, but treat her to a lecture on the risks and dangers of miscasts.
[X] The residents are weakened, taking the Citadel is now a possibility.

My reasoning is that we have weaken Mork but we dont know for how long or how much. Better not mention what we cannot prove or explain.
Better not to make the 'mudane' know about Ranald at all even.

We chatise a fellow wizzard but do it in a soft way, once. If she proves headstrong, then scold or discipline harsher. Remember these wizzards are relatively 'soft', so it should be enough.

Also ask her for a couple bottles of poison as well. There are many situation when it could be useful.

Also, to cap the campaign, we must secure the citadel to gain full benefit of our artilery. Retaking the entire 8 peaks will likely take decades, but if the dwarfs is to consolidate, do it in a position of power. IE able to rain stone and shot in every direction.

Changing my vote.

If you let the scary witch shove her filthy magic into you and then go on a suicide mission to talk to trolls with her, she'll reward you by shoving even more filthy magic into you afterward! And she says you won't explode but might mutate just a little bit, nothing serious. Who could turn down such a tempting offer?

Admittedly we probably won't find any smart minions but there has to be a few men of these tens of thousands who would be tempted by the idea of being invisible or making their archenemy and/or wife forget they ever existed. These are soldiers willing to risk their lives for a bit of wealth, what's some magical corruption to the entrepreneurial mind.

FIrstly the Ranaldian vote has no way in hell of winning. Full stop, so it really isn't too much of a concern. In any case, most people who vote for disclosure up to the idol and disclosure up to Mork have similar reasons for being reluctant for voting full disclosure up to Ranald.

Secondly, it's very interesting that virtually every voter in this thread shares your justification behind this decision, but the thread is literally split into half over this issue - one half argues that Mathilde's ignorance is precisely the reason why it is not right for her to withhold this information from people like Kragg the Grim or the Grandmaster of the Winter Wolves, precisely because she cannot even begin to calculate the value of the Intel that Mork is weakened, and deception is likely to simply create alot of problems down the line.

The other half shares your justification that Mathilde should classify what she is unable to explain, and bury it as deep as possible, or to conduct a private debriefing of selected individuals of what happened.

The reality is, the thread has gone through 50 straight pages debating this issue on and on. And if the vote to with-hold the weakening of Mork from the council passes, expect another 50 more pages and another very tight vote over whether we should tell King Belegar and Kragg the Grim in Private, and possibly another 50 pages of whether we should privately share what happened with the Grandmaster of the Winter Wolves.

On one hand, it's sort of a good thing I guess? Expect another voting turnout that approaches 250 votes next turn, since I'm almost certain that the first write-in vote is to take King Belegar to one side over ale and fully debrief what we truly saw in Karag Nar to Belegar and Grimm in private, and I suspect this vote is going to go right down the line once more. And while voting turn out and discussion are the lifeblood of quests, I think that dragging this issue out isn't going to necessarily help in preserving a civil environment of discussion in this thread.

Mathilde ganking Mork is going to be Liber Mortis Mk II Electric Bogaloo isn't it? Where we will be debating about whether to reveal what happened all the way past Karak Eight Peaks and up to our return to the Grey College, and where half the thread will advocate we continue to censor the events at Karag Nar even to Mathilde's master and the Patriarch of the Grey Order, with that half voting that we activate the Lying side of the coin just to be safe. And the other half, the half that voted for partial disclosure up to Mork right here and now to the council basically pointing out how that lying to our master and patriarch is both OOC, and incredibly foolish. We are, at last count, something like 7 votes away for the revealing Mork issue to dominate this thread till page 1500 or something.

Doppleganger is only a self-targeted spell. The matrix does not expand target options. There's a reason why the Jades and Ambers were more enthused than the Greys.

Sure, we can just poll tens of thousands of men one by one on how they feel about our new ability to shove magic inside them. Then when they express horror, we Mindhole them and go on to the next superstitious peasant.

I would just like to see the scene BoneyM makes with this.
Edit: Blast!
