Why does no one want to investigate Codein, to see if he is a mass murderer, a quick disguise as a adventurer would help, if he's sending men to their deaths, than he should be stopped.
Losses among the mercenaries are in line with the rest of the expedition. A little higher, but that's understandable, given that they've been seeing close-quarters fighting and they aren't knights or Dwarfs.

While I'd like to take the Citadel... do we have the troops to actually hold it? Or will we do this via great amounts of artillery?

The main reason I favor not mentioning the weakening of Mork is because merely the fact that we have reason to know or "suspect" something that enormously significant raises a lot of questions about why we know or suspect something like that. Questions that will be asked of us, and might lead to some more cunning dwarves and humans to suspect we're hiding something when we inevitably need to lie (or get very specific in our wording) to avoid mentioning Ranald's involvement. Limiting our story to just mentioning we destroyed the idol does not raise such questions or suspicion: "Idol destroyed, then Ork Shaman battle magic disrupted" stays a relatively local and straightforward event that won't prompt people to question it too deeply.

I expect it will raise questions like:

Did the Grey College know this long scale ritual was in process?
Is this (one reason) why Mathilde is actually here on the expedition?
Quite how broad are the divine ritual counter-measure that the Grey College has?
Are my secrets safe from the Grey College?
Is she here for me as well?
Am I innocent enough?
etc

The question we should be asking is if this was going down in Karag Nar, what are we going to find as the ongoing plots in the other peaks and underground?

While I'd like to take the Citadel... do we have the troops to actually hold it? Or will we do this via great amounts of artillery?

The possibility of the second is the answer to the first.

In canon Belegar held the Citadel for decades with just 500 Dwarves. We have the manpower to hold the Citadel, no problem and probably have manpower to spare with the incoming reinforcements for a fourth peak at that, if we can get away with storming the Citadel with low body counts.

Actually no, that's still Lawful Neutral. going by D&D, Lawful is supporting rules/law/order, Evil is harming others for your own benefit, Lawful Evil is twisting/manipulating the rules to achieve your own goals or support yourself, and he's not doing that he's trying to cut down those who would fuck things up.

He does not have perfect knowlge of who would steal so he is killing innocents on suspicion. That is evil.

It's the best fortification in the 8 Peaks. If we can hold something else, we can hold the Citadel. Holding it means that we need fewer defenders on what we've taken so far; they'll only need to guard against the underway, not anything above ground.

Belegar held it with 500 Dawi when he was surrounded, albeit with sporadic bursts of reinforcements. Here, one flank of the Citadel is secure, and we have far more Dwarfs on hand.

Not to mention that the Throng of Karak Azul is incoming. And Karak Azul is one of the major Dwarf Holds with a much larger population base. And many of those Dawi are former Eight Peaks clans who will be sticking around.

@BoneyM will you count these votes as the same thing? The former uses a comma while the latter an "and"

[] The death of the Warboss, the shattering of an Almost-Rogue Idol
[] The death of the Warboss and the shattering of an Almost-Rogue Idol.

- both votes are 40+ if i tallied it right

At some point the ownership of Kazak Eight Peaks has to be resolved definitively in favour of the dawi or the grobi. They cannot last forever with half-and-half ownership. The expedition may finish with the securing of Karag Nar (or perhaps not) but there is a longer war to fight there.

Of course he is killing innocent people. Mathilde killed innocent people when she ordered the army to continue fighting at the castle. This is war people will die. And if the people at the very front of the battle lines are people Codrin feels should die, well, someone has to be at the front.

That seems like the sort of questions the Grey College would like to encourage and not answer.
Its beneficial to them to seem to know whats going on while not actually showing how much they know.

[X] The death of the Warboss, the shattering of an Almost-Rogue Idol, and the weakening of Mork.
[X] You'd have done the same once. Tell her you understand, but treat her to a lecture on the risks and dangers of miscasts.
[X] The residents are weakened, taking the Citadel is now a possibility.

I expect a campaign to clear out either the Caldera or Karagril to start up once the Throng of Karak Azul arrives. Sadly not Kvinn-Wyr, as Azul likes more traditional weapons over troll-roasting flamethrowers.

Though, I wonder if Karak Azul will be bringing any Slayers. After all, it's a bit of a long walk to go all the way north to Karak Kadrin, and the Southern Holds have always been a bit separate from the more northern ones.

The Citadel goes a very long way I think. Between Citadel, Lhune, Nar and the Gates we have an area sufficient secured to have surface agriculture in, reducing dependency on overextended supply trains, and stable supplies of reinforcements.

The Dwarfs are very protective of Khazalid. Especially written Khazalid. It might be quite a few favors to be given permission to learn it. Also, you know, learning a completely new language, which tends to not be easy or fast. Though I suppose the influence Khazalid had on Reikspiel might have an impact?
It might be simpler to just use favor to hire a dwarven chronicler to translate for us. They can probably also point out stuff the dwarves wouldn't want getting out.

It is sad though that the greenskins have basically devastated the environment of the area. The new grass will go a long way but I expect it will take a long time for any food stocks to be grown.

However! We now have a Jade journeywoman who disobeyed direct orders! Perhaps we can get farming going very quickly.

I second this. We may want to look for a Dwarven editor/cowriter, so we can create a propaganda piece for the sake of King Belegar's "noble and glorious" cause. PR for the Empire and Karaz Ankor, and who knows? If our works take off with Britannia's nobility, maybe the Dice rolls would love clan Angrund and the Britannians will ride to Karak Eight Peaks on an errantry war to cleanse the Eight Peaks of vermin once and for all.

I do wonder what kind of Throng Kazador is bringing. Karak Azul arguably has more to gain from this expedition than anyone short of Belegar. If the 8 Peaks are strongly held, along with the route to Barak Varr and the route to Karak Azul, Azul gains something they haven't had in ~3,000 years; a reliable connection to the rest of the Karaz Ankor. The ability to trade. Aid, potentially, if they ever need it and ever ask.

"What in the name of all the gromril in the world is going on down there," blurts a very confused Longbeard among the gun pits.

"Say what you will of the manlings, at least they keep things from being boring," snorts another as they watch the force expected to be a speedbump stop the emerald tide cold.
I really liked the use of archaic english in Codrin's personal narration and Karak Umgi is just inspired. Really, combined with mage shenanigans, the human side of thr expedition is just meme-tastic for the dwarfs.

To be blunt. DnD morality is not a good real world comparison. One could argue that actually Codrin is Lawful Good. He's ensuring that people who would be willing to doom the expedition for their greed (Classic Chaotic Evil) are being killed. That this requires unfortunate sacrifices for the Greater Good of the expedition is sad, but required.

Codrin is simply putting the well-being of Empire-wide relations with the Dwarfs ahead of individual (mercenary) lives.

Actually, Kragg just put molten lava over much of it. If its close enough to real lava, then its:
-Burned clean of Greenskin spores and completely sterilized
-Extremely rich for agriculture, given some mechanical labor of churning up the loose ash and mixing it with clay.

Im am excited to see Karak Kadrin's response to "Hey, we have a literal mountain full of trolls over here. Wanna get in on this?".
