Wasn't the province with the magic grain selling to the nation with famine while the Imperial citizens willingly starved themselves rather than eat magic touched crops or was that just a good idea that wasn't tried?
Think our "intelligent" citizenry, or at least the nobles, felt that magic tainted crops were too risky.

And somehow survived the lynch mobs a few weeks later.

Ostermark grain was boycotted by a lot of Imperial nobles who stepped up their own agricultural efforts in response and was sold to Kislev. They could maybe sell to Tilea, although they don't exactly have an easy way to ship grain there. Ostermark is a long way from the coast, and transporting that much grain overland to Salkaten or another port would be expensive.

The famine just happened so yes it would be a good idea for Ostermark to sell their surplus food to Tilea if the Empire is to stupid to buy it themselves.

It would help the country and fix the trade loss.

Could help fund the transport which would be a good option to have next turn.

This would get us the good will of Tilea which means more trade later.

Hmm.

This has potential, we provide safety for transport for minimal fees, maybe even generously spend some money to make it happen. Tilea gains relief until their famine is over, Ostermark gains money, we gain relations which are far more important than gold to us. Everybody wins.

Exactly.

Think that we should also set up that trade deal in guns and cannons to Estalia since the guns could be a very big game changer against the Norscans if they can get a lot at a cheap price.

The success chance for the action should increase and we get more money out of it since the Estalia should be desperate for an edge.

Side note, if we do have our Jade Wizards magic up our crops, we should have priests, particularly of Esmeralda, inspect it and verify it as good eating in a public display, after a earlier private check that yes, it's not going to be risking corruption or anything.

Then go on to a festival that day with all sorts of neat treats made from the magically grown food.

Do like the idea of Halfling Farmers and Jade Wizards working together on the farming in general.

Just a question, but have we hatched our Griffon yet?

Seeing as the Griffon Egg we gave to the Emperor had to be hatched before the end of the year...

Also, i recall there was plan to hire Long Drong pirates as protection for our coast.

I mean, so there isn't really any other threat but let's just be prepared.

For all we know, the raiders probably fattening or warming themselves up before we leave for the expedition and start attacking our coast again.

And we also got the option to sell to Tilea or Estalia right? I think we should get that started as well.

Large Norscan Fleet Sails…To Estalia??: Yes it's true that the coasts of the Empire are not the only ones targeted by the ravaging and seemingly endless hordes of Chaos, but this year it was never more apparent. Sighted in the dawn of summer this year came a large Norscan fleet that some quaked with fear of due to its size and armament, only for it to sail right out of the Sea of Claws and then right past Westerland. It then continued on, out of sight, until rumors came that the most dis-unified nation in the Old World had come under assault. The coasts of Estalia were ravaged this year by a variety of warbands, all serving some dark entity or another. Historically Estalia has been left largely alone by the forces of Chaos, and so this sudden reversal has greatly confused many. Worse, for the Estalians that is, without a strong unifying force to keep them together and fight off Chaos, they were more than ripe for the picking as they dithered and argued about who should lead resistance efforts. In the end, no one was able to reach the top of the pile, and so for the whole of this year Estalia was defenseless while the Norscans gorged on the land of duelists and passion. Bad for the Estalians, sure, but on the other hand this greatly reduced the pressure of raiders in the Sea of Claws for the Empire, so it all worked out in the end, right?
Chaos is plotting something down south. Wonder what.

Also I just realized if we had gotten around to selling Estalia guns they might have handled the Norscans better.
t the moment, the two Orders that stand most prominently in the Empire in terms of acceptance are the Bright Wizards and Light Wizards – or Hierophants as they apparently wish to be termed. The first lay down continual gouts of flame over every piece of corruption the Witch Hunters and priests find – which is essentially almost all of Sylvania – while the second are working hard every day to lay down purifying and cleansing magic or alternatively enchanting posts with their magic that shall be laid out all along the roads.
Witch Hunters go tsundere over:
1) Wizard, hate
2) So much easier burnings, love
Graf of Guns, Count of Cannons: The numbers are in. After over a decade of intense diplomacy, trade negotiations, and other sundry things, the sheer number of handguns and cannons present in the Empire, nay, the Old World, has greatly eclipsed what was present before. The one responsible? Not, as some would think, the master of Nuln, previously the only major producer of such things in the Empire. Instead, it was the ravenous pace and speed of Ostland which has done it. Trade with the vast Kingdom of Kislev, trade with the majority of the provinces of the Empire, and having spent tremendous amounts of money on expanding their own production facilities whilst selling a substantial amount of product at reasonable prices – in the case of Kislev and Talabecland unreasonably good prices, has had people giving the mercurial Count Hohenzollern a new name in acknowledgement of this accomplishment. Though Nuln has done much work as well, the simple fact of the matter is that while the individual quality of their handguns and cannons are purportedly stated by Nulner engineers to be better, there are a much larger number of the same devices bearing the seal of Wulfenburg. While this is certainly good for the Empire, this has done nothing to endear the northern province to its 'elder brother'.
Ah hah! We won this one! Take that Nuln!
Nordland Creates Second Army: Though it has been many, many years since the defeat of the Daemon Prince Gruber, Nordland has been focused on rearming its people, rebuilding its devastated infrastructure, and strengthening the Imperial Navy under their stewardship. The honorable Count Stephan von Kessel, who has labored long and hard for his people and to prove his worth, and successfully so it simply must be said, has chosen to finally make the decision to create the Second Army of Nordland. Unlike the First, which is dedicated to the coast and guarding the internals of the province, the Second has been placed all along the border with Middenland due to the potential for incursions of beastmen now that the barrier of plague mists have disappeared. Over two dozen forts have been constructed, at great expense, while roads and light cavalry ensure that communication remains strong between them all. Though the Graf of Middenland complained that Nordland was overstepping its borders ever so slightly, a furious set of negotiations that took all the way up to the Elector's Meet itself a slight redraw to the maps was accepted. Considering that Middenland had no real settlements up there in the first place, it is not that unexpected. Some questioned it as a measure to expand the territory of Nordland considering that literally no settlements or humans are allowed in the dark Laurelorn Forest which is known to be under the total control of the Wood Elves there, but the amount of territory gained is essentially negligible in comparison. Some, however, are worried that Count Kessel may have been ensorcelled somehow, given that these efforts will also perfectly protect Laurelorn's borders. With nothing at all able to enter the Forest, who knows what those strange beings are getting up to?
We're about to know~
Famines In Tilea Begin Affecting Trade: Though there has been some cursory knowledge that the land of Tilea has been suffering its own agricultural difficulties, only now has the true damage begun affecting other nations. Due to the enormous famine striking what may be one of the richest nations in the world, trade all over the Old World has begun being affected. There are simply not merchants moving goods, nor customers to buy them, and as such the flow of coin across multiple sectors of business have slowed or outright failed. Even though the city of Marienburg has outright claimed it can offset the slack, and business has in fact shifted somewhat, the fact of the matter is that the economy of many nations is suffering as a result of their connection to Tilea for various goods of one kind or another. -200 Trade Income.
Hmm, might be a good time to get started on our own Jade Wizards. We're going to need more food for what comes
Lady Annushka Gone Missing: It is not entirely uncommon for people to go missing in the Oblast, for in the long, long stretches between the bastions of civilization there are dozens of things that can lay even the mightiest army low. Starvation, lack of water, supplies, the elements, greenskins, Kurgan raiders, trolls, wild animals, and more. But of those who walk the roads of Kislev, the Ice Mages are meant at least to be immune to such things due to their connection to The Land. But after several months, the fact of the matter is that Lady Annushka of Praag has gone missing. One of the largest political opponents to Tzarina Kattarin, her mysterious disappearance has put increased scrutiny on the increasingly precarious position of the so called 'Chosen of the Widow', despite staunch denials from Kislev City. One of the more powerful Ice Mages in Kislev, Lady Annushka was noted for travelling along a western road to Erengrad which skirted dangerously close to Troll Country – at which point the noble lady would often stop to cull as many dangerous creatures as she could with the aid of her House's sworn soldiers. However, the idea that anything within Troll Country could possibly defeat Lady Annushka or her thousand guards is utterly preposterous, and so many Boyars whisper that it simply must have been the Tzarina.
Probably Kattarin's work.
Tensions Rising: Though the Tzarina's support in the third of Kislev under the responsibility of the capital city is ironclad, her recent actions for the past few years have brought many a concern amongst the Boyars, who reign over the rest of Kislev in the majority. Through blood and fear she claimed Erengrad and the support of the now Prince Romanov, and she personally appointed the Governor of Praag. However, the spaces between, the areas that make up most of Kislev, are owned by the Boyars. While a small core of the wealthiest and most powerful nobles in the nation beneath the Royal Family do in fact support the Tzarina, the greater majority have raised concerns for a good long while now over her increasing centralization of power. Land that was traditionally owned by noble families is now under the personal ownership of the Romanovs, including the majority of the southern farmlands – the only real farmlands of the Empire. Worse, her aggressive actions towards Erengrad and removing the mostly sovereign system of Merchant Princes by way of massacre have raised even more fears. People now whisper of war on the horizon, of civil war. Her increasing ties to outsiders, a reversal of her previous position of 'Kislev stands strong alone' to which the vast majority of Boyars actually agreed with, is yet another strike against her. Should the Tzarina continue on her course, she may see much of Kislev rise up against her, a situation that no Tzar or Tzarina has had to deal with in centuries. The common people, on the other hand, are simply terrified of their nation tearing itself apart.
I think...we're going to see our alliance called upon soon to put down a rebellion for her.
Need to get more food to feed the refugees, more troops to back her without exposing our backs, and more guns to shoot everything with

Or they're trying to flank us by hitting Estalia so that they can basically Chaos up a force to hit a relatively soft border.

That and bringing down another country probably gives them a soon base of operation.

Also, i'm inclined to believe that Annushka may actually be defeated in the troll lands rather than an assassination by Kattarin. Call it a hunch though.

Even so, yeah. The political situation isn't really looking good in Kislev, we'll have to let things settled a bit first.

Bretonnia and Tilea are both between Estalia and the Empire. So I don't think that's a realistic possibility. Also, Estalia is pretty south, which makes Chaos weaker in those parts. My guess would be either the Norscans wanting some good raiding done, because they were not very succesful in the North lately, or some convoluted plan against Ulthuan and our magic research facility.

Ostermark's agricultural production is fully aligned, at the moment, with supplying themselves and Kislev - though overflow and older trading treaties with the Trident means that grain is also being sold and traded within Nordland and Ostland.

They don't have excess to send to Tilea.

Kislev is taking great advantage of this, as they are eating literally more grain than their land could previously have grown on its own.

(Kislev Full Agricultural Production+Partial Full Ostermark Production= More than Just Kislev)

Hunger is at an all time low, births are up, nutrition is up, strength of soldiery is up, and many common people are pleased. Several nobles are unhappy due to the foreign and foreign magic-aided nature of the grain, but living in goddamn Kislev for generations has created quite the pragmatic people. So they'll grumble, and grunt, and shake sticks, but hell yeah they'll take the damn food.

So consider, please, if you really, really want to have Ostermark realign their current customer base.

Whelp. Better start getting uses out of our Jade wizards either to sell to Tilea or sell to Kislev(once demand grows again). Maybe clear out large chunks of forest to make place for farmlands(once we have a spare action for it)...

We could probably use a farm expansion to feed our growing Ogre population come to think of it...

Famine in Tilea might give the Skaven time to recuperate(lack of pressure from Miragliano) but they've been dealt a blow due to the conflict with the Orcs(and possibly, the failed wolf crusade) which is probably why the Dwarves are expanding at their current rate(one hold reclaimed, reclamation of a second planned within a few years).

If it wasn't for the Norscan invasion of Estalia, the Orc trouble brewing in the Badlands and us just having had to deal with all this corruption bullshit(Lahmian problems probably still ongoing) I'd be feeling more paranoid about things going down the drain in the background.

Regardless, I think I've fully updated every part of the front page posts. Please, peruse at your leisure and let me know if there is anything that needs work.

Though honestly, the famine is likely to resolve itself...after a few years of starvation, privation and death. It's happened before, and it's likely to happen again. Perhaps we can solve it, but if not, it's not likely to be the end of the world.

Also, woo, our wife is peeved.

True. But by that point the Kislevite demand may have increased again. Potentially allowing us to bolster the northern bulwark even further.

Or another market may have grown. Or we have enough Ogres to... you get the point.

Yeah, but in her defense we did do something monumentally stupid in her opinion. Doesn't matter if it would have ended the rumors the Slutpires spread about us, the fact of the matter is that she could have lost us, or worse, be forced to watch as they killed us.

If anything I'm glad she's mad, it just shows how much she cares for and loves us. That said, we're gonna have to grovel a lot to get back into her good graces, let alone her bed.

Maybe we'll get a personal action for it.

So.
Now would be an excellent time to start selling weapons to Estalia.

Well... This is probably not it, but the Wood Elves could potentially be informing us about stretching their magical bullshit forest into Ostland. We did just clear it from all the gribblies that would block them normally and it is a big enough dick move for them to consider it valid.
We... don't really want them to do that, I think.
Ideally, we should have the conneciton with any remaining fey there, and then use as much of the area for farming
