If we're gonna do that, I don't really see the point of making a Knightly Order then. Just train guys to use them and recruit them into our armies directly. Cut off the middle man and all that jazz.
But knights pay for their own equipment so that would be cheaper. That's why we have bull knights and stuff, because it's cheaper for us to let them get all the equipment together.

Yes we could train a special company to use the vaporcycles. In fact thats propably going to be the extent of their military applications. Used as scouting, light calvary unit but at the same time the idea of knights on bikes charging an enemy with a sort of gun lance device appeals to the cool in me. Also freddy having a motor cycle sounds cool as shit

Of course, the trade off is that they wouldn't answer to us directly if they were a Knightly Order, so their support wouldn't be a guarantee. I'd prefer shouldering the cost for that alone. We're hardly strapped for cash at the moment anyhow.

True, we can shoulder the costs on our own.
But honestly? I don't think using the cycles for heavy cav is the best idea, for light cav they should be great but you can let a horse find its own way while you hack and slash your way through enemies, that's not possible for a bike, any jostle or hindrance will necessitate a action from the driver. Which makes it less then ideal in a full charge.

Heavy cav isn't ideal for Ostland's environment anyhow, heavy forests and all, so using them as Light cav should be fine.

This is probably a silly question @torroar but do we know if Ostermark has taken advantage of all the different Whiskey recipes that Reinhardt learnt in Albion and started building a whiskey distillery?

I ask you not only because it would be a shame that once the reserves of Whiskey will run out there won't be any way of getting more until the Albionese decide to lift the Mists, but also because it would be a pretty cool Stewardship option to have both Ostermark and Ostland (since one has the recipes and the other the expertise in the production of alcoholic brewages) working together in creating the Great Whiskey Distillery.

Also we want peat for the peat whiskey and AFAIK ostland does not have many swamps or wetlands, but Nordland has lots last I remember.

It hasn't even been a full turn since Accursed Albion, my man. They'll probably get up to it in the following turns.

Since we have grenadiers now would be great if we can make a kinda private grenade launcher for them to use rather than just rely on slings and such.

What do you mean by gun spears?
I was looking at some custodian art and saw how they had a gun on their spear. Now i know we ain't having bolters or anything but what if a gun was attached to a spear in a certain way so that right before a charge hits the knights could let off a shot into the enemy. I'd say it would be pretty effective at making calvary charges more effective

Those exist. They are a chaos dwarf invention. And are as rule of cool as one would think. Would be a decent upgrade for our halbreads in the far future when we have examples and knowledge of their existence.

Would the dawi take umbrage on stealing chaos dwarf technology? It ain't guild.

Fireglaive is what its called.

I think we are mostly covered there since we already made our own version of bayonets that will turn handgunners into makeshift spearmen if enemies ever get close to them.

1. Our cannons have malfunction often enough, should we stop using them because of that? A crossbow is more reliable the a cannon and a cannon that has something wrong with it is a nothing more then a giant bomb.

didn't we explicitly fix that problem by improving our cannon designs using dwarfen methods/secrets to get them to dwarf levels of reliable and safe , we were even brought up on charges of stealing guild secrets because of it

Dawi engineering guild: that's a grudgin'...

Just for the indirect reminder of the chaos dwarfs.:p

I remember the GM mentioning that the forces Nordland has guarding its coast would eat the Salkalten Guard for breakfast and riders still sometimes give them trouble , so I'd say we need an army of coast cause the Salkalten Guard are only five thousand men nowhere near enough to guard the entire coast of Ostland doubly so since we lack the necessary galleys to guard our coast effectively , we have plenty of wolfships and mercenaries to be mostly sure of wining any pitched sea battles , but not enough galleys to watch the coast and those same wolfships and mercenaries are gonna be uselessly doing fuck all if a rider manages to reach shallow costal waters were they can't follow or worse they get inland via a river
Hey would it be possible to arm a future Army of the Coast with Titan Cannons so they have a good chance to take out large ships? How effective could they be against say a Black Arc?

If it is, then the Dark Elves would have to think twice about attacking Ostland's coast.

Black Arks are effectively floating cities. One or even several Titan Cannons won't do jack against them.

As for the idea of an "Army of the Coast", I'm not against the idea, but I wouldn't want to strain our manpower more than we already are with our three existing armies. Maybe in the somewhat distant future?

Oh I figured that it would help in wrecking those things so the Dark Elves would be wary when coming to attack us. Oh well it was a fun idea.

As for getting the Army of the Coast, I want them to show up later say during Magnus or at best Karola's turn as Elector Count. If we manage to deal with the Beastmen tide without suffering as much losses as in the 4th Vampire War, it could be possible to get them eventually. It would put us on the same level as Middenland in terms of military power, which will be helpful if any more enemies come to pick a fight with us.

Did you think I wanted them now or something? I know it will take time to get enough population to support them.

Nah, just voicing my opinion on the "Army of the Coast" idea.

Ostland isn't far behind Middenland in terms of military strength anyhow. Ostland has 3 armies to Middenland's 4. Well, until 2 of Middenland's got mulched by the Middle Mountaisn recently.

True.

But anyway, if we still get more turns after the Elector Meeting, what do you want to focus on for plans?

For military I really want to get additional artillery and improving the militia further. As for research, maybe start looking to vaporcycles or great volley guns. Not sure about the others yet.

I think we should get wofilia checked out by some ghyran wizards. Honestly it's kind of cruel to at least not attempt to solve treat his condition
This has been gone over more than once, There is nothing wrong with the him other than his foot. the boy is fine and should be left alone until he is old enough to decide on his own what he wants to do, Both for himself and his deformity.
