Just a snippet from a convo I've had with some other people. Everyone's welcome to weigh in with their own thoughts on the matter.
With Slyvannia now mostly pacified, there's a new trade route that can link the River Stir with the Mootland/Zhufbar Road. Maybe even a canal project, perhaps in cooperation with the Karaz Ankor/Zhufbar? Even simple roads would work well. And why hasn't Middenland secured the Great North Road? Especially in conjunction with Marienburg? And Marienburg's fleet should be the primary force securing (as best as it's able) the coastal waters between Marienburg and Nordland's coast.

Ah, my old shame. I was so angry at myself when that happened. Finally made it to the end, got a write-in from one of the writers I really look to as a writing example on the forum, like really respect the writing chops of, and I stumble right at the end. I polled the thread at the time to see if I should edit it in or put it in apocrypha, and many said keep it separate. But, you know, looking back, it's been 2 1/2 years now or so. I think I might just edit it in proper, and take it out of apocrypha proper. As for the canon side-stories, yes, all of those will be going in sidestory, with anything demi-semi-vaguely canon joining it, while fully non-canon things go into apocrypha. Might be something I do on this side of things as well.

Something to think about, at least.
I definitely support including the talk in the main story, but I am unsure where specifically it should go. I actually liked the uncertainty after that first update just before, where it skipped to the celebration and it was left unclear as to whether or not we'd succeeded, but then putting the speech after the celebration kinda breaks the flow.

Probably best to slot it in in chronological order in that case.

For the record, the Great North Road is secured already between the works of Marienburg and Middenheim. As for the less Great and more just 'North Road', if anything the elves of Laurelorn would prefer that road to be wholly unsecured, seeing as that road is dotted with Westerland settlements that regularly poke their heads east into Laurelorn without the convenience of a river blocking them off like the Salz does in Nordland for lumber and hunting, amongst other things.

What the next great battle going to be?

either the beastmen in the drakwald or the orcs at Blackfire pass , there is also a chance for a dark elf black ark assault on our coast as between the arcane fulcrum being a massive deal with all those arch mages stationed at it well as the high elven garrison defending it and public knowledge that we have dealings with the Ever-queen we've given plenty of reasons to attract the Witch-king's attention

edit : and possibly some Blood dragon vampires targeting Freddy as well

Considering that Orcs are marching on Blackfire-Pass and that the Beastmen are gearing up for an all-out Assault, I unfortunately give us, at maximum, three years of Peace before the next Shitstorm hist the Fan. Four Tops.
It has been noted that it's not actually a given that the Orcs will march on Black Fire Pass, for what it's worth. Not to mention that they're still fighting the Skaven at Karak Eight Peaks, as far as we know.

And if worse come to pass all three hit at once due to background rolls.

i really hope we have some years of peace to solidify the alliance with the asrai
Because when the Orks and/or the Beastmen attack it's going to be a bloodbath so great that Khorne will probably overdose on all that blood

Oh, I just realized that if we can get an alliance with wood elves they can most likely give us a rather extensive map of the Beast-Paths in the Old World and I'm sure plenty of provinces would love to hire wood elves for their woodsmen skill keeping eye on activity on said paths and be great early warning scouts.

From the mankind perspective they will finally have a better idea of where the beastmen will attack out from and have some advanced warning to prepare for their sudden raids, and for wood elves it gives them access to a large amount of mayflies willing to throw themselves at their most hated enemy happily while they work mostly in a support role. Everyone wins!

If nothing else they could seriously help in mapping out Beast-Paths in Ostland/Trident which would help a lot coordinating with military from other provinces. Money is no object in a province that has historically almost been wiped out by beastmen and went the way of Drakwald.

I half-remembered the 'you get used to it' meme from Goblin Slayer being used in this thread sometime ago, but can't remember the exact context (other than Freddy being Goblin Slayer) or where it is in the thread (not for lack of trying). If anyone knows what I'm referring to I'd be much obliged.

Anyway, can't help but think that meme could be applied to Elves reacting to Freddy this whole arc.

Here you go.
Jade Wizards:

Count Hohenzollern and Bright Wizard:

That's the one. Thanks. Just curious, did you simply remember which update it was near or did you search for a certain keyword?

So yeah, elves in general (or specific elves) wondering if this drunk, smelly, hyper-violent rageaholic human who suicidally throws himself at danger and wins is always like that. And those that know him just being resignedly or neutrally confirming that yes, he is.

Mix of the two options. I remembered that the post was close to Turn 35, but used key words to find its exact location.

"By all rights, you are supposed to be nothing more than a mayfly, like the rest of your kind. Living and dying, accomplishing little."

A good counter if we hear this line from an elf in the future...

"I prefer to think of us humans as more along the lines of an explosive mixture. Highly unstable, dangerous to friend or foe if handled improperly, and normally having a short shelf life unless stored correctly...but used properly we can tear down mountains and change the very landscape itself."

Is this why Kislev's ice hags live so long? Because they're properly refrigerated?

By Sigmar, it just never stops. No wonder the Empire has trouble developing. It never gets any breathing room.

The empire has had breathing room for the last 30 turns. The visible threats were mostly locked down to the Sylvania war, the War of three Armies, and that's about it. The other threats were mostly locked down to regions instead of a threat to the empire as a whole. Except for the Nordland campaign, but that didn't have the whole empire dragged into the issue, so it doesn't really count.
