You know the biggest thing about humans in WHF is that we seem to be the only bunch of morons with the capacity to forgive on a semi-regular basis...

Lets do that. I don't like the soul fiddling n all, but well I can understand where she's coming from accept it and ultimately forgive it.

And man...dis a big deal. I'm not sure where this may end, but if it ends where I think it ends, its a veeeeeery interesting ending...

I wanna get on that train.

Also I want wood elves the ****ing forest shooting basement!

JOLLY COOPERATION!!!

It's not a bad thing to have the moratorium for such an extraordinary event, but I think we all know how this votes gonna pan out and I'm 100% okay with it.

Nevertheless, blowback is going to be a concern, albeit nowhere near as bad as it could be. We've already had limited political (and with the high elves, trade) relations with the elves before while also having awesome dwarf reputation, so it isn't wholly unprecedented and we're bros with Nordland. Marienburg's already out against us and we've been proven in the eyes of Sigmar himself and to the public as a super patriot. What human territories border the Asrai? Are there any elector counts or Brettonians that might be especially incensed with rapproachment? And do they actually matter?

[X] Forgive: She did not have to tell you. She chose to anyway, in an effort to reach out. She has the entire history of the Empire as proof that it is possible for humans to be treacherous or fatally forgetful of prior agreements. You've done a lot for her kind, and it has broken through, enough that she is actively trying on a level you didn't think was possible. The future possibilities are enticing as well, you cannot deny that.

I'm in the Forgiveness camp her she violated our trust true but with the light of summer and other acts and deeps that have been done with the Wood Elves have saved countless lives and led to many victories.

we forgive them after all we need allies for if the dark elves come knocking or when chaos comes from the wastes.

Do not laugh it me guys and girls hypothetically is it possible for those elves to join as an imperial province with a hell lot greater autonomy?
Shrug.

I dunno. The moot exists. There's precedent for non humans not only being part of the empire, but part of the top body (sans emperor) with land etc.

But, you know...bit of a difference between the mootland and you know...Larelen...a very large chunk of land which has at the estimate of its leader at least a little over 1/3rd of the Asrai's total population...

The power dynamic of good farmers, great cooks and big ass criminal network is a wee bit different in the face...all a dat. And that's not even getting into the problems of Ariel, the other wood elves, the well documented issue of relationships between elves and dwarves, the issues of imperial claims on the forests.

Oh and the magic...

And we can't forget that the dawi will likely not too pleased...like its all very well and good opening relations with the elgi and accepting their Zhuff nonsense, but accepting a sizeable number of them as members of the polity is probably bit more of a prickly issue...

And you know...pride.

(I know I repeated some points they bare repeating!!)

I have to say though with all that in mind I am 110% behind the idea, but I fear trying would strain even Magnus to his limits...or not maybe Teclis has given elves enough of a good rep that it could be snuck through.

Well they could ( i mean look at the Moot), but their Pride will never let them accept such dishonor
Yeah I know...

Sigh, thing is if she wants to ensure that they get proper treatment by the empire then a seat on the elector council...is honestly the right thing to aim for.

It gives legitimacy in the eyes of the empire that can't really be matched any other way (short of a runefang at least) and opens up a means for mediating disputes that isn't wait for the inevitable army and turn it into a hedgehog/modern artwork. Its likely much harder for a non member of the empire that never engages with it properly to get the emperor to tell these guys to stop being idiots.

Its quite another for an elector in charge of a considerable territory even if it keeps to itself mostly to come in demanding the emperor hear them out...to say nothing of the legal precedent that would likely be on Lauralen's side assuming them coming in gets the claims of all those who currently claims revoked...

In general yeah, if she's serious about this then the absolute best way to ensure this is probably to become an elector...but you know...doubtful.

I say we forgive her she's reaching out with a hand and is swallowing her pride for this it's easy for us to do the same.
She's making an effort, we at least owe her to try and meet her half way. Otherwise what the heck are we doing?

Also can I just say the part with Mena and Tyrion is bloody weird, but also sorta sweet? Like I kinda wish Allariel wasn't injured so he could go off and drink shitting human...what's the preferred Nordland Ulrican nutjob vintage? alcohol while loudly boasting about all the thing's he killed and turned into hats.

+ Even I'm not cynical enough to think she's not being genuine.

The only option I feel we can take and she is a friend she's only trying to do her best for her realm.

What human territories border the Asrai?
That's a complicated question. They mostly live in Athel Loren, a big forest on the border of the Empire/Bretonnia, but well....

Look, figuring out what territory they hold between the Worldroots and well, being Elves, is hard.

Might as well, better this than bitterness.

Well I figure it is water under the bridge that is jolly cooperation.

Stone-souled we may be, but we're human enough to recognize when a Grudge would be counterproductive.
