Warcraft: The Rise of the Mag'har

Well to be fair. Putress was a result of leaving a Burning Legion demon around to fuck things up, and a Nathraziem at that. Which is why you kill those bastards as soon as you see them.

Course we Could say Sylvanas should have known better. But let's be honest, lots of people get pulled in by the Burning Legion.

Edit: There's the Scarlet Crusade and Balnazaar, Aegwynn and Sargeras which fucked up Medivh, Nerzul and Kil'jaeden. Twice.

Is there any more? Those were the only ones off the top of my head.

The problem with the Scarlet Crusade is that

a) A demon was actively working to twist them into evil insane zealots

b) Several key figures in the leadership were vengeful, possibly insane zealots

c) They did not differentiate between The Scourge, the hilariously evil Forsaken and the relatively normal Forsaken.

To be frank, the Scarlets are like the living mirror-image of the Forsaken, with few exceptions.

To be fair, you can't blame the Scarlet Crusaders from not distinguishing between Forsaken and Scourge when a significant fraction of the Forsaken faction was exactly as evil and destructive as the Scourge.

Yes, many members of the Forsaken aren't evil, but when you have no way of knowing which is which (because they don't very well have uniforms distinguishing the bad from the good), and they all get violently angry when you kill members of their faction (because the benevolent Forsaken don't really know about the malevolent ones), it's no surprise that the Scarlet Crusaders just said "hell with it, kill 'em all".

Fanaticism and demonic infiltration/corruption didn't help though, to be sure.

I think we can pretty much agree that the Burning Legion fucked over both the Forsaken and the Scarlet Crusade.

I bet they had a riot sicking them against each other. Varimathras and Balanazaar were probably having a blast.

The assholes.

Indeed.

Still, we're probably not gonna give the Forsaken the benefit of the doubt. They're gonna have a demon as the second most important member of their leadership afte Sylvanas herself, and they have a number of unrepentant warlocks and necromancers. i imagine that the only difference we'll see between them and the Scourge is that the Scourge is more organized and dangerous.

Indeed. Though he never liked their presence to begin with. None of the factions are really pleased with the inclusion of warlocks in their ranks, except the Forsaken.

It's possible. I'm not sure if we ever find out Dranosh's exact age in Canon to compare to Thrall's (which we do know).

Checking the wiki, the main basis of the Forsaken being with the Horde is:
  • an alliance of convenience
  • liberated-from-demon-enthrallment Orcs sympathizing with liberated-from-Ner'Zhul-enthrallment Forsaken
  • Magatha Grimtotem of the Tauren arguing in favor of the alliance
The Darkspears just tolerated them.

Nothing else to do right now while waiting for the survey so just thought I'd do a wiki-walk and share the results.

Actually, it was Hamuul Gromtotem who argued in favour of including the Forsaken in the Horde, because he saw potential for redemption in them, or some such nonsense.

I'll never get the forsaken. Instead of going transhumanist on what remains of their bodies they decide to throw the most pathetic pity party ever and drag everyone down to their pathetic level.

If being undead sucks that badly either make it better or try to come alive again. Not make everyone else undead too.

On the age thing.....eh, when Saurfang the Elder is the one who was already an Adult when the First War began....yeah, you're going to be called 'The Younger' even after you get a few decades on you.

All the better to grow our potential.

Also what's your take on curing magical addiction with shamanism?

Yeah.......really wonder how things would have turned out if they'd been lead a bit differently.

....great now I kind of want to see a forsaken quest.

Dang nabbed idea bunnies........it doesn't help that warcraft has so many different factions to choose from.

Well... Considering that Warcraft quests a popping up a lot these days, I wouldn't be surprise that a Forsaken Quest will come sooner or later or at least a Sylvanus Quest.

I know what you mean idea bunnies just won't go away. Hell I ended up making a Touhou/Warcraft council game and it seems to be going well.

Still can't figure out where I got the idea though, think it started with a comparison between the Sha and Touhou Youkai.
