Warcraft: Fallen Kingdoms (Old)

Hurray, we're not going to starve(probably).

Should we go for the integration office or the Quarry next?

Actually, @Genezz could building the Quarry next turn speed up the Scarlet Enclave?
Stone Quarry: Building a Stone Quarry would let us store stones for future use, making future building projects that uses a lot of stone take a shorter time to complete.
Cost: 2,000. Time: 2 Month. Chance for Success: 90% Reward: Shorter completion time on projects that uses a lot of stone, +1,000 Mining Income.

When I think farms I think wooden houses that don´t use much, or any, stone, not enough to be affected by this option.

Yes, but there are other building that use a lot of stone too, barracks and churches for example.

Both are fortified buildings housing combat-capable forces aren't they?

Do the churches improve morale or something?
Expand the Church: As of now we can only house 150 Priests before we run out of space, we will need to expand the Church before we can house more than that.
Cost: 6,000. Time: 4 Month. Chance for Success: 80% Reward: Can house 250 Priests.

Right... while we wait for the update, let's plan for the next turn...

I think we should probably rebuild the towers as our martial action. Secure the borders. Fortifying the Thondroril river currently takes 2 turns so that's out and between barricading the scourge camps and rebuilding towers, I prefer general coverage first so we can blockade the scourge without having to worry about a Troll Raid.

[]Rebuild Crown Guard Tower
[]Rebuild Eastwall Tower

For diplomacy I'd prefer to search for a diplomat or a steward first, maybe integrate Light's Hope into the Crusade. If none of these options are available, I'd recommend sending a message to either Aerie Peak or Stormwind. And while starting up an airforce would be awesome, I'd prefer it if the survivors of Lordaeron would return to us some turns from now.

If no new options:

[]Send a Message - Stormwind

I'm split between the Quarry and the Integration office. The former takes 2 turns to construct though, So I'll go with:

[]Expand Integration Office

For intrigue, we'll want whatever option pops up that lets us weaken the Noxious Glade. They are best positioned to attack both the Scarlet Enclave and Corin's Crossing(through the mountains, they did this with a necropolis and a tunnel in canon) and IIRC they have that mysterious caravan. Biggest priority if we don't have to deal with internal sabotage.

If success chance isn't too low and if it doesn't take too long:

[] Sabotage: Noxious Glade.

We'll be locked on learning.

For Piety, we still need to learn how to revert the Blight, Right now, if the Enclave falls we're screwed. If we can revert the Blight we'll be able to get some food production started in Corin's Crossing.

[]Study - Soil

I don't really have much preferences for personal actions, though levelling Intrigue would be nice(better awareness vs assassins). As would battlefield endurance.

Sorry, I thought you meant walls, towers, forts and such buildings, not all military buildings.

Given our resources and desperation, I consider our stone churches to be built as either fortified churches or fortress churches. If they aren't made with defence in mind, why not construct them from wood?

Essentially, a stone church should be built as a Citadel since we are a crusade.

Likewise, having our barracks/military buildings walled or fortified is just common sense. Not doing so is just begging for saboteurs to poison your troops, burn down the armoury or slaughter the mounts in the middle of the night.

This is what our Barracks looks like right now.
As for the churches, all churches I have visited have been made of stone, or more modern building material, so I based it of that. This is also the first time I have heard of fortified/fortress churches so I thank you for informing me of them, but what you say about them makes sense and as such I will include them.

When I think farms I think wooden houses that don´t use much, or any, stone, not enough to be affected by this option.
Well, from my understanding we're not just building farmhouses, but effectively an entire (small) town. Even if the houses don't incorporate too much wood, there's probably a lot of supporting infrastructure that does; wells, streets, etc.
Plus, combining stone and wood as building materials might help logistically by reducing or avoiding transportation bottlenecks.

Could go either way, in my opinion.

Turn 6 Results

New Refugees: 1400+[75+88+10+65+80+71]=1789-500(Integration)=1289

New Low Class Citizens: 500

Military: Saidan Dathrohan has been appointed the Grand Crusader, the one in charge of all military matters with Highlord Alexandros Mograine and High General Richard Abbendis as his subordinates. They have given you a report on the state of the military and the options that are open to you. They have also appointed Brigitte Abbendis as your bodyguard. (Pick 1)

Rebuild Our Forces: We took heavy losses in the battle for Corin´s Crossing and we will need to recover our troop numbers as soon as possible. Luckily we have enough armor and weapons available to let us outfit enough troops to return to pre-battle condition, though it will take time to train the troops to an acceptable level.
Cost: 5,000. Time: 3 Month. Chance for Success: 90% Reward: Scarlet Defenders, Crusaders and Archers restored to pre-battle numbers. Required: 10. Rolled: 49

-The training continues at a steady pace, so far there hasn´t been any major accidents. Will be completed next month.

Examine The Battle: We took unacceptable losses in the battle for Corin´s Crossing, we need to know what mistakes we made and what worked and didn´t work, so that we will be better prepared in future engagement, it will take some time to gather the information.
Cost: 1,000. Time: 2 Month. Chance for Success: 80% Reward; Knowledge on mistakes made in battle. Required: 20. Rolled: 37

-Abbendis has sent in the reports about the examination of the battle, there are several detailed and in depth reports to read but it can be summarized as this.

Scarlet Archers: Regular arrows were useless against skeletons, banshees and abominations and had limited effectiveness against zombie and ghouls, I suggest investing in heavier arrows against skeletons, zombies and ghouls and flame arrows against abominations, I asked our mages for ideas to use against the banshees and they suggested that we use enchanted arrows against them, unfortunately we don't have that kind of expertise amongst our mages.

Scarlet Defenders: I would suggest that we change their weapons, exchanging their swords to spears and pikes, letting them keep their distance from the enemy and preventing them from taking so many casualties, and while they may not be as effective at killing the enemy that isn´t their job, it is to hold the line.

Scarlet Crusaders: Keep them behind the main line and when the enemy meets the Defenders the Crusaders should move out to flank the enemy, pining them in place and letting us hack them apart.

Scarlet Knight: Use them like we did, to flank the enemies ranged units.

Scarlet Mages & Priests: Keep a few Defenders with them to protect against the enemies projectiles, the mages should focus on the enemies mages and abominations, while the priests focus on healing the wounded.

Scarlet Paladins: A small number on horseback to help the knights and the rest split between the main line to help against the abominations and the rest with the Crusaders to help flank.

The main mistake that was made was that we didn´t really have anything that could stop the abominations without taking heavy losses, as our mages were busy with countering the enemies spells and the Paladins were off luring the enemy to attack us, but didn´t return before the enemy attacked. Reward: Learned of how to improve army combat.

Build Basic Defenses at Corin´s Crossing: Now that we have taken Corin´s Crossing we are not about to lose it again and while we are not under threat of an immediate attack it is better to be safe than sorry and build defenses to give us an advantage in battle.
Cost: 2,000. Time: 1 Month. Chance for Success: 80% Reward: Basic defenses at Corin´s Crossing. Required: 20. Rolled: 5 Crit Fail!

-The work started fine, with our soldiers guarding them our workers started to build up the defenses, barricades went up and so did a palisade, but it was when we were half done with our work that tragedy struck.

The ground collapsed, bringing down buildings and workers alike, when the soldiers arrived they discovered that someone had dug a series of networks underneath the town, the casualties list were large with ninety workers losing their life, searching the tunnels reveal that ghouls had dug the tunnels, but it seems that they perished in the collapse.

This accident will set us back as we will need to refill the tunnels and holes that appeared, making repairing the town cost more and be more time consuming because of the buildings that collapsed. Reward: Corin´s Crossing center collapsed, 90 Low Class Citizens lost their lives, Rebuild Corin´s Crossing cost more and take longer, need to fill hole before rebuilding.

Diplomacy: You are smart, beautiful and able to charm almost everyone you meet, is there any wonder why you have taken over the diplomatic aspect of the Crusade? (Pick 1)

Light´s Hope Chapel: Contacting the people at Light´s Hope Chapel would be a good idea, more soldiers and people is always good and getting the Chapel under our control would allow us to use it as a outpost.
Cost: 500. Time: 1 Month. Chance for Success: 95% Reward: Contact with the people at Light´s Hope Chapel. Required: 5. Rolled: 89

-You rode out to Light´s Hope Chapel to meet with the leader there, at first the sentries were tense when you were approaching, but when they realized who it was that were approaching they gladly let you in to meet their leader and they lead you to the courtyard. You don´t have to wait long before someone approaches

The man that approaches is of an average height, with a muscular body and a few scars showing, but his most outstanding feature is the eye patch he wears over his right eye, when he sees you his face shows surprise for a moment before settling into a calm expression.

"Princess Angelica, is that you?" He asks in a calm voice, but you can hear the slight excitement.

"Yes, and you are Maxwell Tyrosus correct, I remember meeting you a few years ago." You ask after trying to find his face in your memories.

"Yes, you are correct, it is a relief to find that you survived what happened in the Capital City, this will be joyous news to those that has taken refugee here, most of them has lost hope of the future." You can see that while he hasn´t lost hope himself your survival has eased his worries for the future.

Nodding you look around, seeing the faces of the refugees and soldiers walking and standing around you think about what to say and return your gaze to Maxwell, the intensity of your gaze takes him aback.

"I am Princess Angelica, heir to the throne of Lordaeron, the leader of the Scarlet Crusade, an order created to restore Lordaeron to its rightful owner and rid the world of the undead threat." Your voice rings clear in the courtyard, grabbing the attention of those nearby. "Lord Maxwell Tyrosus, Paladin of the Knights of the Silver Hand, leader of Light´s Hope Chapel, will you and those that follow you join me in my quest, will you follow me until I am crowned Queen in the Capital City and the last trace of the Plague has left these lands?

Maxwell is taken aback for a moment before he smiles and kneels down.

"I swear that I will follow you until the day I die." He rises and looks around before starting to speak in a loud voice. "What about you, will you follow me and serve our Princess and take back our kingdom?"

The crowd lets out a collective yes and cheers for you.

"That is your answer, Princess, shall we go inside and discuss on how to integrate our forces?" Maxwell gestures inside. Nodding you follow him, the crowd still cheering. Reward: Light´s Hope Chapel can be Integrated.

Stewardship: You are a Genius and nowhere has that been more apparent than now, seeing you quickly and efficiently going through piles of reports and paperwork concerning every little thing in running the realm is awe-inspiring. (Pick 2)

Expand The Scarlet Enclave: While the small farming community, now called The Scarlet Enclave, has helped with the food situation, you still need more, both now and in the future. You have decided that the next expansion will turn the community into a small town.
Cost: 10,000. Time: 4 Month. Chance for Success: 80% Reward: The Scarlet Enclave becomes a small town, +1,500 Farming Income. Required: 20. Rolled: 1 Massive Crit Fail!

-This month one of the worst storms in the past decade hit us, or more specifically the Scarlet Enclave, it tore up the farms, destroying months of work and food, now we only have food for the next month before people starts to starve, this is one of the worst things that could have happened.

It will take months of work to repair the damage, luckily you have managed to incorporate the repairing of the farmlands into the plan to expand the farmlands, shaving of months of work, though the cost will go up and it will take at least six months before everything is done.

In the face of this catastrophe you have decided that this is vital and has ordered that this operation will continue until it is done. Reward: Double the cost to 20,000, Lengthen the time to complete to 6 months, Food Situation changed to Deficit, Half the Farming Income, Expand The Scarlet Enclave is locked in.

Capture the Livestock: Capturing the livestock wandering around would allow us to use them, as a food source and to help with tiling, as well as moving carts around.
Cost: 1,000. Time: 1 Month. Chance for Success: 80% Reward: +500 Farming Income, less problems with moving supplies. Required: 20. Rolled: 52

-We have captured the livestock wandering around, giving us a new source of food and giving us an easier time transporting goods. Reward: +500 Farming Income, Easier time moving goods/supplies.

Intrigue: Now that you have a spymaster in the form of Invar and a small spy network, Invar is able to take on some projects. (Pick 1)

Expand the Network:
While the spy network is able to handle the affairs in your city, for now at least, and even spare some spies for infiltration, it is unable to do any real operations against your enemies, expanding the network will allow you to interfere with the situation in the north and sabotage the Scourge equipment.
Cost: 2,000. Time: 1 Month. Chance for Success: 80% Reward: Can launch covert attacks against your enemies. Required: 20. Rolled: 14

-Invar haven´t had any luck in finding new agents, this is either bad and we will have to hire low quality agents or good and they are just that good at hiding, Invar will continue searching next month before giving up. Reward: Will continue next month.

Learning: With both a Research Leader and a Research Building you can finally start researching the heavier projects. (Pick 1)

Smelter - Bronze: Now that we have both Copper and Tin Ore in our storage, Aldan is able to make a smelter that will produce the Bronze alloy, which is very good to have in ship construction and for weapons our future sailors will have, as Bronze doesn´t rust.
Cost: 3,000. Time: 2 Month. Chance for Success: 85% Reward: Can use Bronze for Ship building, Can use Bronze Weapon/Armor. Required: 15. Rolled: 55

Alden has started the work on the new smelter and had promised to have it ready next month. Will be Completed next month.

Piety: High Priest Isillien has taken on the priestly duties that is needed. While he still continues his sermons about the undead, he has started to focus on rebuilding Lordaeron. He also has some proposals. (Pick 1)

A New Research Team: To do research you will need a research team, so until that is done, no research.
Cost: 1,000. Time: 1 Month. Chance for Success: 100% Reward: Can do Research again.

-Isillien has created a new research team, this time with soldiers guarding them to prevent the same thing happening twice. Reward: Can Research again.

Personal Actions: With the help of Brigitte you are finally able to have some real free time. (Pick 1)

Study The Book: Last month you discovered a book on your desk that you don´t recognize, opening it you saw that it was written in a language unknown to you, maybe it is time to try and translate it.
Cost: 0. Time: 1 Month. Chance for Success: 60% Reward: Learn more about the book. Required: 40. Rolled: 95 Crit!

-If there is one thing that you have discovered in your search for information about the book is that it is old, very old, as in before Human civilization old and that it is written in a language that you haven´t had any luck in finding anything about, but you have been lucky, it seems that you aren´t the only one that has found this book, written to the side of the text is notes in another language, one that you recognize, it is the language that were prominent during the time Empire of Arathor ruled over humanity, you have had better luck in finding books that will help decipher that language, though it will take time. Reward: Can start to translate notes in book.

Need more food. Desperately need more food.

Fishing next turn?

Also, Corin's Crossing. Well, at least we've(probably) seen the results of our failed searching roll...

On the Bright side, we can get an extra hero unit. Yay?

...Welp, it has to happen sometime.

Still! Better it happen here than somewhere terrible!

Either ways, we'll have to grit up and get going. Get more food, continue defense and getting intrigue.

Let's hope we could get some help from the Human Kingdoms and Dwarven Clans.

Let's hope Light's hope has some spare food supplies.

This was literally the worst thing we could critfail on this turn...

Still! Better it happen here than somewhere terrible!

1 month of food supply(plus livestock) remaining.

We were near the point of starvation already, now? We're on the edge of starvation.

I hope Tyrosus can act as a stewardship adviser. We're strapped for stewardship actions and desperately need them to gather food.

We weren't doing terrible before. Slight Deficit isn't that bad, and Deficit is worse but not horrible. So long as we focus on getting more food and don't crit fail even more we should be ok.

Fishing it is then, we might have to implement rationing too.

People might complain but our popular opinion should guide us through.

Half the Farming Income,

@Genezz just to be clear, this is only until the Scarlet Enclave is rebuilt right?

We weren't doing terrible before. Slight Deficit isn't that bad, and Deficit is worse but not horrible. So long as we focus on getting more food and don't crit fail even more we should be ok.

We were slowly eating through our food supplies before, one month before people start starving(large deficit) in the new situation, I'm hoping the Livestock adds some time to that(though I doubt it) but if Fishing doesn't slow the progression down fast enough we will start losing population due to starvation(huge deficit).

This is part of the reason I want to research soil so badly, if we can get farms in Corin's Crossing the food supply won't be as vulnerable(though sufficient fish would also diversify it somewhat I suppose).

Yea, I completely agree we need to start soil research again next turn.
