The future of aviation in War Thunder: supersonic jet aircraft and air-to-air missiles.
We would like to tell you about a new aircraft class in War Thunder and also about guided air-to-air missiles and other new features in air battles that we will begin to implement after the release of update 1.85 "Supersonic".
...
In update 1.85 "Supersonic" we will introduce the first supersonic jets: The Soviet MiG 19PT, the American F-100D Super Sabre and the British Javelin Mk.9. All these aircraft are supersonic and they are armed with a new weapon type - air-to-air missiles with infrared (heat) seeking.
If a target is captured by a homing device this usually means that it will achieve a hit. However this has not always been the case. The first air-to-air missiles had limited capabilities with capture range and possible overload. To capture a target a homing device needs some time to lock on to a target and all this time the pilot has to hold the target in a pretty narrow sector.
When noticing a missile launch, a targeted pilot could relatively easily evade it with sudden maneuvers or by flying the aircraft against the sun - infrared devices would lose their targets against such bright obstacle.
Being implemented in the game all these features and limitations allow us to believe that the new weapon type will not dramatically change the air battle experience but will add new opportunities that will make gameplay more diverse.
New armament types will be introduced not only to combat planes, but to helicopters also. Helicopters will receive new types of defense to counter air-to-air missiles: heat flares, exhaust infrared suppression system and counter-optical-electronic systems. This will allow a reduction in the range of air-to-air missiles when launched from one helicopter to another and will allow interruption in missile guidance thus keeping primary weapons still useful.
As this bumped I can object to how the special game mode you can only get so far on Ireland Bay (Boats, obviously) can utterly screw you over if you take a barge out.
My team was outcapped on both starting points. And then our point was being capped (This insta-wins the game).
Now, I had thought "I'm never going to get to those, better head to ours so that I can shoot into sides of any enemy crossing". So I was already heading to our point this entire time.
Didn't matter, didn't get any visual on the point and the only shoots fired were by secondaries that didn't even hit the attenpting spawn camper in the ~three seconds before the game ended.
My reward was a big fat 0.
Barges are so utterly dependent on the team being able to at least hold one point in this game mode it isn't funny. If the game doesn't last ~3-5 minutes at minimum the only way a barge can shoot anything is a very early spawn camper in a fast boat. Because it takes that long to clear the bloody mountains that your line of fire in a barge, if a) your team is garbage and takes no point and b) the enemy team is on the ball and rushes your point, simply won't be able to contribute to any of these combats no matter where you go.
So, I managed to get the FW 190C and I've been taking it into AB for the last five or six matches.
Are you there, God? It's me.
Can you please just fucking kill me already? It's not enough for the enemy team to be comprised of mostly jets while my team always seems to be kitted out for ground attack, NO! It's the fact that the guns don't even seem to work on that pile of crap even at point blank range.
The higgins boat is much better especially since it can just worry about aiming instead of firing in short bursts to prevent overheat and recoil form spoiling your aim. G-5 has a good gun but is weighed down heavily by the small magazine. LS3 will kill stuff but not as well as the higgins. MTB is the worse of the lot and will make that fairmile pack look very tempting.
I grabbed the all the low tier vehicles, and the Merkava. Was hoping to get another 2 planes unlocked and grab either the Tiger or the Ju388. Buti hit a wall, no parts drop
