War Thunder: Planes and Maybe Tanks Too

Mm, and there's the first premium I've seen. Rocket launching Biplane that can outturn, and definitely outgun the basic reserve planes you're stuck with until you research something better. 'Fun'

Other then that asshole, been enjoying dogfighting.

I see you have been bounced by the Spirit of Stalinwood, the I-153 Chaika.

Cannon!Chaika, I presume? It's a good plane, sure, but the cannons are overkill for the kind of opposition you find at those tiers. Low ammo count from what I recall, so there's the balancing factor when compared to other biplanes.

Not what I'd call overpowered, honestly. You'll find far more egregious examples of that later on.

Cannon Chaika is 3.0 in RB and 3.7 in Arcade, so it was probably the regular premium Chaika, which is... functionally identical to tech tree Chaika, I think? Still nasty to fight against in a reserve plane tho

Rocket Chaika. It's uh BR 1.3 i think. US reserve planes aren't that great.
Yeah, I've got a better fighter unlocked now, and a bomber. Not that the better fighter is of any use when I've got like three stupid little biplanes all itching to shoot me down, and we're circling each other in a nigh endless loop of dumb :V

Don't try and turn fight em lol. Just boom and zoom. otherwise you get the endless loop and that's boring unless you have friends.

Use the p-26 with the 50 cal lazor

I like having enemy planes fly straight at me when I'm in a PC-451.

They disintegrate quite nicely when I fire 76mm VT at them.

Generally speaking it is a bad idea to attack boats that are alone and unengaged - they probably have nothing better to shoot at but you.
If you have too (Near one of your bases for ex.) attack from opposite direction of where you teams boats are, chances are the camera is facing that way along with the guns.

Flying low is both dangerous and a possible advantage, if you can use islands as cover for you approach you can pop up before the guns bear.

Use stealth belts, even in arcade it's the tracers people orient themselves by - a hostile thing that is not spewing tracers is not a threat because it is not firing so pay attention to other things, that sort of behavior. Plus stealth belts come with a healthy mix of AP and HE that does wonders for PT's and such.

I just watched a man sit literally just outside of a capture circle while it was being capped, driving back and forth shooting blindly at nothing in particular. While behind full cover...

Feelsbadman. :(

My soul is slowly dying grinding through the Clemsons. While you can blow up the reserve boats that people insist on bringing for some godforsaken reason, you're outmatched by every other destroyer's gun except in the potential number of torpedoes you can put down. Especially that Pr 159 with its automatic 76mm guns(!).

See, your problem is playing the Clemson's in the first place, my advice? Dont.

Best thing to do is play the actually fun boats and grind out to the third destroyer in the tree which is usually the first actually useful one.

Once Fletcher gets a few mods she'll fucking wreak any small boats and planes in her line of sight.

The madmen, they're doing it.

The future of aviation in War Thunder: supersonic jet aircraft and air-to-air missiles.

We would like to tell you about a new aircraft class in War Thunder and also about guided air-to-air missiles and other new features in air battles that we will begin to implement after the release of update 1.85 "Supersonic".

...

In update 1.85 "Supersonic" we will introduce the first supersonic jets: The Soviet MiG 19PT, the American F-100D Super Sabre and the British Javelin Mk.9. All these aircraft are supersonic and they are armed with a new weapon type - air-to-air missiles with infrared (heat) seeking.

If a target is captured by a homing device this usually means that it will achieve a hit. However this has not always been the case. The first air-to-air missiles had limited capabilities with capture range and possible overload. To capture a target a homing device needs some time to lock on to a target and all this time the pilot has to hold the target in a pretty narrow sector.

When noticing a missile launch, a targeted pilot could relatively easily evade it with sudden maneuvers or by flying the aircraft against the sun - infrared devices would lose their targets against such bright obstacle.

Being implemented in the game all these features and limitations allow us to believe that the new weapon type will not dramatically change the air battle experience but will add new opportunities that will make gameplay more diverse.

New armament types will be introduced not only to combat planes, but to helicopters also. Helicopters will receive new types of defense to counter air-to-air missiles: heat flares, exhaust infrared suppression system and counter-optical-electronic systems. This will allow a reduction in the range of air-to-air missiles when launched from one helicopter to another and will allow interruption in missile guidance thus keeping primary weapons still useful.
