Waking Up In A Weird Colourless Old Mansion By The Sea!

Entry Point A

You find yourselves sitting on a very comfy chair in a plush reading room, lined top-to-bottom by books. Even the ceiling seems to be made of one massive bookshelf facing downwards, whose books seem to defy gravity simply because it would make a fuss if they did follow it.

There is a Persian Rug lining every square inch of the room, and if you were to lift it, you would find (yes) even more books making up the floor as well.

There is a roaring fireplace on one side of the room, and several comfy reading chairs arranged around it, including yours.

There are two doors here, as well. One of them is labelled "Bedroom", the other one "Bathroom".

Entry Point B

You find yourselves lying on a bed of loose rocks and tight shrubbery, with the sound of crashing waves ringing in your ear. If you sit up, you'll find yourself next to a cliff overlooking the sea. It is sunset, but the lack of colour saps away at whatever beauty it might have had.

Behind you is a Mansion. It is not a massive mansion, though it is certainly bigger than what most middle-class people can afford. It is two, possibly three stories tall, and in a strange cubist-ic style (the more savvy would probably call it "post-modern"), with large white cubes and cuboids lined with windows making up the top half of the building.

Entry Point C

You find yourself on the sands of a beach, with a steady slope behind you, and visibly high cliffs on the either end of the shoreline.

Perched on top of one of those cliffs, you can spot a Mansion, done in a sort of asymmetric, geometric style.

~*~

Wherever you wake up, though, one thing remains constant throughout this entire place:

Aside from the player characters, it is completely devoid of colour.

Instead, everything is a monochromatic black-and-white, like you all just stepped inside some mysterious movie made sometime before the 1900s.

Sans started at his situation. While suddenly being in a different location wasn't a new experience to him, it was usually under his own power.

Usually.

Well then, step one would be to assess the situation.

...Huh, interesting. If it wasn't for his hoodie still being blue, he would have thought there was something wrong with his eye sockets. And it wasn't some strange sense of interior decorating, considering the fire decided it no longer wanted to be red. At least the chair was nice.

Sitting in some other chairs were two humans dressed as... a witch and a cowboy? Well, who was he to question their fashion sense? That was more Papyrus's thing anyway. He was fine with his casual clothes.

Step two to this conundrum would be to... let the two humans do all the hard work and mystery solving! He crossed his arms behind his head and slid down into the chair.

"sup, you two. i'm sans. the skeleton."

Hol glanced upward towards where his very valuable luggage was stored in an overhead compartment. He leaned back into his seat, turning to glance out the window, clouds passing by as the plane soared. There were no other options now, he'd have to track down Joestar and his group or DIO'd probably kill him himself. The Stand user reclined further into his seat, thinking. The cargo with him would need to be something special, or he'd wasted his time getting it.

His thoughts were interrupted by a yawn, the cowboy feeling drowsy. It wouldn't do to be tired when searching for Joestar and the others, so Hol decided it wouldn't hurt to rest for the rest of the flight. The man leaned back, slowly drifting off...

Slowly, Hol Horse opened his eyes, stretching.
"sup, you two. i'm sans. the skeleton."
With a shout of "Emperor!" Sans immediately had a chrome revolver that seemingly came out of nowhere pointed at him, the person holding it now staring at the skeleton with wide eyes.

What?! Stand?! Has to be. Death 13? Doesn't look like what I've heard. Has to be, though. Was that baby on the plane too?

"What happened? Where are we? Is that you, Mannish Boy?" Hol Horse asked Sans, gun held steadily. His eyes wandered around, taking in details of the strange room, until he saw Marisa also sitting. The Stand user's eyes once again widened to almost comical proportions, his gun still trained on Sans, before he glared at the short bone man.

"Did you bring her here too, shorty?" Hol's glare was now filled with genuine malice, all of it directed to the skeleton.

Marisa was concerned, not that her face showed it. One moment she was reading a few sto- ahem, borrowed magic tomes in a quiet corner of the Voile and updating her own Grimoire, and the next moment her hard corner had become a comfy chair, and a skeleton and a man were having an argument. She adjusted her hat, glancing between her two companions.

"Hey, let's not go pointing invisible weapons at people we just met, alright?" She grinned, getting up and looking around. She glanced over several of the books, looking for any that would take her interest, and slipping a few into a bag regardless. "How 'bout we introduce ourselves, then get to the blasting the crap out of each other. Sound good?"

The stood up straight, grabbing her broom and swinging it over her shoulder as she turned to the skeleton youkai and the apparent human, hand on her hip and a confident look on her face. "The name's Marisa Kirisame, second-best youkai hunter in Gensokyo! Nice to meetcha,!"

If Sans had any eyebrows, one of them would've been quirked at the strange device the man was suddenly holding. It looked like a gun, but...

"What happened? Where are we? Is that you, Mannish Boy?"
"dunno. dunno that, either. and i told you, i'm sans the skeleton, no bones about it. heheh."

"Did you bring her here too, shorty?"
Wow, this guy was angry. Sans stared down the barrel of the ...gun, anticipating any twitch of the trigger finger, and raised his hands placatingly.

"hey, how about we calm down before we do something we'll both regret? i'm just as lost here as you."

"Hey, let's not go pointing invisible weapons at people we just met, alright?"

...Well, apparently witch girl had eyesight problems, if she wasn't able to see the gun clearly jabbed at him. At least she wasn't as twitchy as cowboy.

Introduce themselves? Sans mentally sighed, and stated his name for the third time.

"i'm sans the skeleton. and i'm sans the skeleton, and still sans the skeleton, just to cover if i have to say it a fourth or fifth time."

Youkai hunter?

...He knew that meant monster or demon or whatever in Japanese from Alphys. So a human that hunted monsters?

...It'd be best to be wary around her, but he'd wait and observe some more before jumping to conclusions.

"nice to meet ya, marisa. well, trigger-happy, ya gonna keep the lady waiting?"

He paused in his rant to notice the two humans and what looked like a golden version of Sgt. A. Meatbag that wasn't bothering to wear flayed skin.

"Erm. Bruuum. Bruuum. Bruuum. Bruumuuuuummuuuuummuuuuummuuuuummuuuuumm."

The fact that the woman seemed completely disinterested in the talking skeleton yet seemed unable to see Emperor sent Hol Horse's head spinning. That meant "Sans" couldn't be a Stand, or at least the skeleton was only animated by a Stand. But then wouldn't she still be shocked by it? And if Sans wasn't a Stand, why'd it react when he pulled out Emperor? Add in calling herself a "youkai" hunter, a term Hol Horse was unfamiliar with, and the Stand User may as well have had smoke coming out of their ears.

"Name's Hol Horse," he gave in, and Emperor disappeared in a flash of purple, "As Sans can probably tell, I'm a Stand user, although I don't know what he is if you can see him but not Emperor. Sorry for my ignorance, miss, but I'm afraid I'm not familiar with the term 'youkai'."

Maybe Sans was like DIO? Hol knew that guy wasn't human either, and it had nothing to do with Stands, but it was one thing to see a man heal his wounds right before your eyes. A skeleton that could talk was a completely different ball game, and Hol hoped to himself that Sans at least had a brain and lungs inside him.

White. Loooots of white. Huh.
Giselle spent a moment just looking.

I mean, Giselle was a quincy. Quincies made everything white, because purity or whatever. Really, Gigi just thought they liked the uniforms. She certainly did.

This was even more monochromatic than back home, though.... White beach? White sky? Creepy looking white mansion on a big white cliff? This was a little more than a stylistic choice.

Gigi kinda liked it!

Nothing else of colour, anywhere near-

"TZEENTCH YOU MUTHERFUCKER! I DON'T EVEN ANSWER TO YOU! I AM DEATH ON TWO TREADS! I AM A RAFT ON A RIVER OF BLOOD AND SKULLS AND I'M GOING TO SAIL IT RIGHT UP YOUR PALACE AND TAKE YOUR FUCKING HEAD OFF!"

Um.

...what?

"Name's Hol Horse," he gave in, and Emperor disappeared in a flash of purple, "As Sans can probably tell, I'm a Stand user, although I don't know what he is if you can see him but not Emperor. Sorry for my ignorance, miss, but I'm afraid I'm not familiar with the term 'youkai'."

"Huh, really? Guess you must be an Outsider then. Well, a youkai is basically any kinda monster, beastie or the like. Feed off of humans in a whole buncha ways."

She glanced at the two doors, testing if they were locked. "So, what's a stand? Some kinda magical ability?" She guessed this Emperor he mentioned had something to do with both his invisible gun and these Stands.

"Monsters? Guess I do know one, but he's never used the word. As for Stands, you're right, magic's one way to describe them. It's called a lot of things, like ESP or witchcraft. It's your own will and spirit taking form, and everyone's Stand is different. People who don't have Stands can't see them, which is why I'm curious as to how he," Hol horse gestured to Sans, "looked like he could see my Emperor just fine. He looks like a Stand himself, but he can't be if you can see him. Maybe he's a user whose Stand lets him keep living, even like...that." Hol Horse turned to address Sans more directly.

"So, which is it? You a monster, Stand, or unlucky user?"

Well, there was a tank here. A tank with a rather rude crew, actually. Giselle pulled a face at it.

Couple other people around, now that she looked. Both massive guys, too! Although one of them had some real solid looking gold armour or something.

Hmm.

Maybe they had some idea where they were? Gigi was willing to admit that she was very lost - and that she really ought to get back soon. The invasion was coming up, and Ywach didn't take kindly to disloyalty...

Maybe one of these guys was behind it... Or, maybe they could help her find whoever was.

Everyone helped Gigi sooner or later.

Still, no reason they couldn't be friends first!

"Hi! I'm Gigi!" she waves, grinning. "Who are you guys, hmm?"

Amazing... Sans knew human souls were strong, but strong enough to crystalize into a solid form like a gun? Clearly, he had underestimated them.

"So, which is it? You a monster, Stand, or unlucky user?"

"i'm a monster. ah, don't worry though, i'm a humerus (heh) guy, not like any monster she's talking about."

Seriously, monsters feeding off humans? He knew a monster could absorb a human soul and sap off its strength for monumental power, but he'd like to think humans and monsters had gotten over their differences by now.

He got up slowly from his seat.

"i'm new to this 'stand' stuff, but if it's about souls, i'm familiar enough with them. maybe that's why i can see 'em."

He was hoping that being frank with this guy would keep him cooled off. He'd rather have a burger and share a bad joke with someone than to fight.

"Huh, really? Guess you must be an Outsider then. Well, a youkai is basically any kinda monster, beastie or the like. Feed off of humans in a whole buncha ways."

"so, while we're sharing terms here, 'outsider'? what do you mean by that?"

"An Outsider's someone from outside Gensokyo. Pretty simple. And most youkai are alright, really. Just gotta give them a good blasting every now and then."

She turned to Hol and Sans, shrugging. "So, which door do ya reckon leads to whatever brought us here?"

That... Well, it answered Sans's question, but not in a very helpful way. And blasting them?

He sighed mentally. Clearly there was some sort of disconnect on their definitions of monster or youkai or whatever. Hopefully they'd clear it up eventually, but for now Sans decided to focus on her question.

"well, it says 'bathroom' and 'bedroom' and no 'hallways' or whatever, and unless i have amnesia," Sans quailed at that thought, "we didn't arrive by door. try the bedroom? someone might be home."

Hol Horse stood, much less worried over Sans. He didn't seem hostile, and while Hol Horse had never heard of monsters like him before, most people had never heard of Stands. It wasn't hard to accept the world still kept secrets from him.

If you were to rush in through the Bedroom door, you would instantly realise that the floors of the two rooms do not connect.

Instead, there is a five-storey drop from the door all the way down to a surface of soft, bouncy material, all covered in a kind of sheet.

The room you have decided to barge into is gigantic. Big enough to cover several city blocks. Big enough that you could fit in four football stadiums in a grid of four and probably still have some space left over.

If you looked right, you would see two enormous pillows, stacked on top of each other, about a football stadium away. They could probably take up several apartment blocks on their own.

If you looked to your left, you would see a giant square of folded-up sheet off to one side, as well as two normal-sized doors on your level, right next to each other, at the very far end of the room, and about a football stadium away as well.

If you so happen to approach the edges of the room, you would see that the soft, bouncy flooring is actually bound by the sheet into a solid chunk that drops off to a narrow flooring of wood that surrounds the chunk of bouncy floor. And below that is a darkness that you cannot see past.

Shaka sat in lotus on the floor of the Virgo Temple, deep in meditation. He took perhaps one breath in a minute, his body almost perfectly motionless but for the slow glide of his fingers over a set of prayer beads. The Sanctuary of Athena was at peace, for now; there would, soon enough, be another threat, another crisis - there always was, always would be in these degenerate days - but he understood better than any other saint-warrior what it meant to live in the present. There is only ever now.

So he focused his mind, extending his consciousness through the great cosmos, shutting down his external senses...

until he felt a sudden change.

The air smelt different, flat and somehow dank instead of the fresh scent of jasmine that filled the Virgo Temple. Colder, more humid.

He guessed at once that he had been transported somewhere else. How or why, he had no idea. It didn't feel like being teleported - he'd had enough experience with Aries Mu. It was more like when Gemini Saga used his Another Dimension technique... but speculation would have to wait. For now, there were two other sentients in his presence.

He turned to them, his eyes closed as they always were, a gentle smile upon his lips.

"It seems that I am far from home, good sirs. Are you in the same situation as well?"

@Azecreth, @Crimson Doom

The Hobgoblin flew, unworried about superheroes, for once. This was the Tinkerer's territory, and he had more than enough illusion projectors to protect his investment in the supervillain technology trade without anyone even suspecting that he was around.

Dropping to the ground adroitly, he stared at the unassuming shack. He knew from experience that it was only slightly more impressive-looking inside, but he didn't really care, as long as the Tinkerer had fixed his sword up.

"Paid more than enough for it. It'd better be fixed," he muttered, walking inside.

"Hobgoblin," the wizened old man greeted him, not even looking up from his desk. "Sword's over there." He waved a hand off to a different desk.

Hobgoblin picked up the sword and switched it on. Flames bloomed. "Heh." He swung the sword, leaving a brief trail of flame behind it. "Right on time, Gramps. Good thing for yo-."

For now, there were two other sentients in his presence.

"-u." In between words, he found himself elsewhere.

"Huh. Black and white? Guess we're not in Oz anymore, Toto. Hah!" He looked around, spying two other people.

"This looks like the start of a bad joke," he observes wryly. "A Super Saiyan, a Hobgoblin, and a nerd walk into a bar..." He leveled the flaming sword at the two, not sounding amused anymore. "And if there's one thing I hate, it's a bad joke. Send me back now, or I'll show you exactly how much I hate bad jokes."

"...heh. think it's memory foam?"

Sans placed his hands into his hoodie's hand warmers. If the giant bed was a sign of this crazy house's resident, singular or plural, then an unfriendly encounter would be less than beneficial to him and his two companions.

"even if it looks soft, it's still a long way down. unless either of you have a better way down or across than jumping, we should check the bathroom. might get some better options."

Checking a bathroom for a way out seemed kind of weird, but stranger things had happened today.

You find yourself on the sands of a beach, with a steady slope behind you, and visibly high cliffs on the either end of the shoreline.

Perched on top of one of those cliffs, you can spot a Mansion, done in a sort of asymmetric, geometric style.
Toa Mata Nui stood up and took a look around as he saw the building. The last thing he had remembered was bringing life to the planet of Spherus Magna, but now, this? Where was he? Feeling something on his shoulder, he smiled, realizing it was Click.
"Why, hello, Click! I did not expect to see you, I thought I left you in Kiina's care." He heard voices behind him.
He looked around. This was not the glorious field of slaughter and blood he had been wading through. Damned warpstorms, just when he was starting to get the others to see things his way too.

He looked around, turret twitching.

Black and white, metaphor upon metaphor and asymmetric architecture.

"Erm. Bruuum. Bruuum. Bruuum. Bruumuuuuummuuuuummuuuuummuuuuummuuuuumm."
Well that was...someone Mata Nui did not feel like talking to.
Well, there was a tank here. A tank with a rather rude crew, actually. Giselle pulled a face at it.

Couple other people around, now that she looked. Both massive guys, too! Although one of them had some real solid looking gold armour or something.

Well, she certainly seemed a lot more pleasant.
"Hello, Gigi. I am Toa Mata Nui, a pleasure to meet you." He said in his deep yet kind voice.

Marisa had stepped forwards immediately, and began to fall down, swinging her broom under her and stopping gravity's effects on her. "Whoa! Damn, that's one drop there." She flew back up to the door, looking down. "Ya know, when it said bedroom, I didn't think the bed would take up the entire room."

"even if it looks soft, it's still a long way down. unless either of you have a better way down or across than jumping, we should check the bathroom. might get some better options."

"Well, I'm pretty sure my broom can take ya both, but we might as well check it out."

"Hello, Gigi. I am Toa Mata Nui, a pleasure to meet you."

"....hmmm. That's kind of hard to remember..."

Thoughtful, she tapped a finger on her chin, considering something. Ah, idea!

"Got it!" she says with a finger snap. "I shall call you Shiny."

Shiny was giving her a bit of an odd sense, spiritually. She focussed on it and hookay that's not armour. What was Shiny, anyway? Or that tank, now that she was sensing it. Maybe they were like BG9?

"What are you, Shiny? And what is this place?"

Upon Marisa almost falling, Hol almost stumbled trying to reach out to her, before she saved herself. He stared at the broomstick, once again surprised. It took him a moment to respond.

"...Er, yeah, let's check the bathroom first." He spoke, turning towards the other door, manifesting Emperor.

Marisa grinned, floating through the doorframe and hopping off the broom, heading over to the bathroom and throwing that door open as well.
