Death. They said there would be a light, I see only darkness...

Your death was simple as it was quick. One moment you were alive, the next simply dead. There was no pain at the end... It lies! Pain unimagined..

Death is often called the gift of mankind[/insert species here] given by the all-father, the one above, the first, the creator, whatever your local creator deity is named. As death wipes away all worries and fears, it is the great equalizer as even the poorest and the richest may one day embrace its coming. Yet as one wizard put it, it is but the next great adventure. And You have been chosen by the great creator to serve once more, perhaps to wash away the sins of your previous life or simply because you have always sought to protect those weaker than yourself. Or a new world to conquer?

OOC: Welcome to yet another Nyx quest, this time you shall take over as the hero/villain from another world reborn in the body of a fresh faced hobbit/man/woman/dwarf/elf/beorning as they seek to face and beat back the growing darkness. To start with you will have a single skill/trait/special ability/memory/something from your home universe that will gradually unlock additional ones as you face growing challenges so chose your initial setting wisely...

[]Guardian: The primary tank. Uses heavy armor, shields, etc. Inspired by Sam Gamgee. Any Race but Beorning can play a Guardian.

[]Warden: A tactical tanking class that uses medium armor and javelins instead of heavier armor and melee weapons. In contrast to Guardians that represent elite trained heavy infantry characters, Wardens are the plucky militia-type characters from the rest of the free-peoples. Guardians absorb damage through heavy armor and shields whereas a Warden uses skill and ability combinations, called Gambits, to cast short-term effects ranging from increased health regeneration, increased block/parry chances, or damage-over-time (DoT) attacks. Their ranged abilities with javelins make them ideal for kiting encounters, too. No major character from the books would be considered a Warden, although it draws inspiration from the marchwarden Haldir, and the official description does bring to mind the Rangers of the North (who as the Grey Company carried spears, the Warden's signature weapon). Every Race except Dwarves and Beorning can be Wardens.

[]Minstrel: The primary healer. The game uses morale points instead of HP (you don't die, you just get demoralized and must retreat from battle) and the Minstrel is the one to cheer you back up. Their music attacks, heals, and offers their party quite a few buffs. This versatility lets them level solo with some ease. The class draws inspiration from Lúthien Tinúviel of The Silmarillion. Any Race but Beorning can play a Minstrel.

[]Hunter: Based on the Rangers from the books (and Legolas, naturally), the Hunter is a ranged Nuker who can guide his party swiftly to many locations (read: teleport them). Does not employ pets, but uses traps and can deal decent melee damage via dual-wielding should they have to. Any Race but Beorning can play a Hunter.

[]Burglar: LotRO's rogue, the Burglar is more of a Debuffer/CC class than the average rogue archtype. While a Burglar has many stealth abilities, and a few "backstabs,". Can dual-wield, but have few ranged abilities apart from the ability to stun an opponent, and a hobbit burglar's stone-throwing skill. Bilbo from The Hobbit is the prototypical Burglar. Only Men and Hobbits can be Burglars.

[]Captain: The Captain is the jack-of-all-trades with an emphasis on buffs. The Captain wears heavy armor and can use almost any melee weapon and light shields. He has no ranged attack abilities, though an archer herald is available at higher levels. He has a few tanking, healing, and mezzing skills, however the real strength comes from focused and party-wide buffs. The Captain's herald or banner grant aura bonuses (stat, morale, or power boost) that affect the whole party. They also have many shouts and battle-cries that heal or give temporary combat bonuses, again to the whole party. The Captain doesn't replace any role, he just makes everyone else do their job better. The class is clearly based off of Aragorn by being both a strong fighter as well as a healer. Only available to the Race of Men.

[x]Champion: The dual-wielding warrior (but can use two-handed weapons as well). Their true specialty is their damage, which is AOE melee. Think Gimli or Boromir here. Every Race except Hobbits and Beorning can play Champions.

[]Lore-Master: The Beastmaster. While other MMO converts might first think this is simply the 'mage' of the game, the Lore-Master is also a pet class. The role of the Lore-Master is one of CC and Debuffers, but their damage is nothing to be sniffed at, either. Their pets (which, unlike the Captain's, are actual animals such as ravens or bears) are useful in all kinds of situations. Elrond is a good example of a Lore-Master, and the game cites him as the inspiration, though many would compare the Lore-Master to Gandalf; a good case could actually be made that the Lore-Master's trait-lines - fire/damage, animals, and crowd-control/debuffs - are based on Gandalf (wielder of Narya, Ring of Fire, and overall more martially inclined), Radagast (who favored birds and beasts), and Saruman (famed for his compelling and persuasive voice) respectively. Only Men and Elves can be Lore-masters

[]Rune-Keeper: The Rune-Keeper is a DPS/Healer hybrid that deals very powerful AOE and single target damage and also is a good healer. A sliding meter prevents both from happening at the same time (the more offensive skills you use, the stronger your damage spells become while healing ones become weaker, and vice-versa, though it resets to neutral out of combat.) This class was inspired by the Elven rune-smith Celebrimbor, the one who forged many of the Rings of Power. Only available to Elves and Dwarves.

[]Beorning: Beorning is both a race and a class: namely they are their own race locked into their unique class, also called Beorning. Based (of course) on Beorn and his descendants, the Beorning builds up rage to convert into a bear for more ferocious attacks and damage. Their primary role is damage or support, although they can tank and heal also, so the class is a definite hybrid.

Prologue

Galen Marek stood seemingly alone in the void, his thoughts initially confused and jumbled. Where was he? How did he get here? How could get back? The last thing he recalled was... interspersing himself between the Emperor and Kota. Shouting for Kota to get the senators away... Had he done it had he killed the Emperor?

No. Galen felt, no he knew that the Emperor and Vader still yet lived. Then why was he here? The Emperor... was he even now toying with him? Was Vader? They were surely powerful but that powerful…?

Madden by this thoughts and worries Galen screamed out, "SHOW YOURSELVES!" A small *pop* from behind caused him to whirl around as he reached for his nonexistent lightsaber. The grey man stood before him in his grey robes, peering at him as he offhandedly stroke his long white beard muttering softly, "Yes. Yes. He may do."

"Do what?" Darkly muttered Galen.

The being smiled, "Bring balance." The being twisted a hand and a globe appeared it slowly rotates as it continues, "An ending of an age approaches, a last desperate alliance of men, elves, hobbits, beorning and dwarves fight against a rising darkness that seeks to conquer and corrupt their lands. The Enemy is cunning and vile turing even their former allies against them. I believe with your help the Enemy can be beaten back and balance restored. *Softly* both there and elsewhere *softly* I would even be willing to.."

Galen interrupts, "I'll do it."
"Beg your pardon?"
"Whatever you wish for me to do, I'll do it."
"Excellent."

And so young Galen was reborn into the world of Middle Earth as Túron Maenor of Lindon, the green lands between Ered Luin and the Sea where once Gil-galad the last great Elf-king ruled now overseen by the Shipwright Cirdan from Mithlond, his memories and mission initially locked away deep within his mind as he grew up and eventually sought tutelage under the great elf master Talagan Silver-tongue for many years peace ruled the lands but everything changed when the fire nation dourhand dwarves lead by their king Skorgrim attacked the elven refugee Edhelion seeking gaunt lord relics that he believed would grant him immorality. You were among the many elves that lived in the refugee when the dourhands attacked…
