I know it's old news but in my latest procrastination spree has included looking at dub clips of UBW and by god did Aniplex fuck the dog on the dub-job. Bryce Papenbrook turns Shirou into Literally Kirito complete with ear-raping "NGAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH" shrieking, Mela Lee sounds like a fucking alien as Rin despite playing the character for eight years, and Mai Valentine and Nurse Joy are Medea and it's really fucking distracting. Cu and Archer are passable in a "I truly believe those two were asked to read lines from a script" sort of way - Kaji Tang just sounds like he's forcing the voice because he's scared of fucking up in comparison to Liam O'Brien, and Tony Oliver as Cu just kind of... exi-wait he was Lancer in the original DEEN anime too what the fuck Aniplex literally why would you rehire Tony Oliver and Mela Lee but show Liam O'Brien the fucking door he owned the character body and soul NGAAAAAAAAAAAAAH.

The only non-Zero person to turn in a genuinely good performance is Todd Haberkorn as Kojipro, but that's probably down to him being good at his job rather than the voice director being halfway decent because he was the standout performance in Root A's dub too.

Why put him there? Putting a Berserker with a dodge or a Battle Continuation makes more sense imo. Lots of damage output in a short amount of time + survivability = win. Heracles in the last slot has saved my ass more times than I can count.

I use Cu fairly often myself as well, but he stays out in front precisely because of his survivability.
That takes too long. I prefer my Berserkers in front and hacking away for massive damage. May be more risky but I still rarely have a problem with pretty much anything... except Archer bosses. Archer bosses suck because my main lineups are literally just Sabers and Berserkers. But then again, Cu in the back usually saves the day in those cases.

Look stop pretending, we all know you like being punished that way, be honest with yourself if not us.

But anyways, I don't know what you were expecting or hoping for, except maybe fulfilling a strange fetish.

But in all seriousness, the UBW Dub is a traversity. These people are not newbies, they've been doing this kind of stuff for years so really the quality should have been better.

@ZerbanDaGreat Thanks for letting us know; I'll be sure to watch the dub fight for Saber v Assasin to support the only good non-Zero VA

  • "Stand up. Go defeat some enemies. What will become of you if you stay cooped up all the time?"

  • "Thinking of you as my Master? That's crazy."

  • "Don't mind me, go break the hearts of some other Servant."

  • "What I like? Fufu, there is nothing more entertaining than to deny God in the face of believers."

  • "What I hate the most? As always, 'to believe' is the worst kind of evil to me."

  • "What wish would I entrust to the Holy Grail? Then, the destruction of humanity. …That's a joke. It's just a joke. Fufufufu..."

  • Reference to Arturia Alter: "Geh, The world's most despicable woman. What is a black holy sword, isn't that a total contradiction? Ahaha, even though it's holy it's pitch black, what a joke. That's seriously creepy."

  • Reference to Santa Alter: "Wait a moment, that's right, I'm talking about you! The Christmas present roulette is broken so give me another one. For cooling off. ...Eh, what? It's already over!? Don't mess with me!"

  • Reference to Holy Maiden Jeanne: "Fufu, if it's so hard, you don't have to do it you know? You trashy holy woman. I'll ignore you, and you can think I don't exist. That's fine by me."

  • Reference to Gilles: "Ara, Gilles is here. Fufu, he's turned from an ally of justice to something disgusting, but I think I'd still rather he's here than not."

  • Reference to Kiyohime: "Since all the good-natured people didn't dare say it out loud, I'll do it. You sick girl, if you say you can't even accept lies, go become a nun or something. Ufufufu…"

  • Birthday Line: "Fuu, is there something auspicious? Birthday? Should I ask Fafnir to light a candle?"

  • Event line (?): "It seems that something has come up. Shall we head out to destroy every last trace of it?"
Bond Lines:

  • 1) How filthy. Don't come close to me.

  • 2) You're being persistent. Do you want to be strangled to death? (Sigh) Why have I chose to respond to the summoning?

  • 3) That's enough! I'll burn you if you step any closer.

  • 4) I've already told you to ignore me... it is not advisable to be too close to a cursed witch. You will be burnt along as well.

  • 5) I see. So you wish to be burnt? Okay, okay, I will do that someday. You will definitely regret it when that day comes. If you still have no regrets knowing this, I will accompany you even to the depths of hell

aw, man
these lines just make me want to pat her on the head.

Self harm isn't healthy, you know?
What part of 'Only good VA besides Zero's cast' was not painfully clear to you? That kind of shite attitude is why so many people never try dubs that are actually good and why we continue to create and complete the self-fufilling prophecy by not showing which are good with our support.

Your first mistake was dubs.

[jk]Um...that's discrimination :V[/jk], then again differing meaning of color and the way it's ingrained to different society and the world as whole.

Gilles is Greatest COOL EMIYA confirmed

Da Vinci mumbles in his workshop about "something" that is without doubt "him"… but not actually "him." Kind of like a crude copy with less finesse in the construction but a scary amount of will. Worried about this phenomenon result in a new Singularity (and getting scolded by Roman) so he rings an alarm.

Random trivia: Da Vinci calls him Romani, which is his real name that nobody ever uses. Roman in turn calls him Leonardo when serious, or "Da Vinci-chan" mostly when he's being sarcastic.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You and Mashu are in your room with Emiya, who's showing you how he projects his weapons.

>Emiya: [Smiling] "It is a temporary copy that can even can match up with the original. That said, no matter how realistic it may be, its power will be somewhat inferior. That might be called the lightness of an illusion that can't withstand reality. My projection magic cannot bring the original back into existence, only create something like its reflection on a water surface. Compared with the real ones, they're just a sham."

>Protagonist: "There's a difference between the fake and the original?"

>Emiya: "That's a lengthy talk, so I'll skip it. But in summary, the fake cannot match to the original in terms of parameters. That said, when it comes to their performance, the one who will decide on their value won't be the items themselves, but the observers. It's not something that might sit well with the original's creator, but humans are a species that keeps pushing on towards the future, so the concept of improving on past achievements is indispensable. There is value in the originals created from zero, but there is also value in the successive deviations based on it. My projections are literal copies, but society develops by imitating and improving the original works."

>Mashu: "I see, so it has that implication."

>Emiya: "Anyway, back to cleaning. Is that room clean Master?"

>Protagonist: "It gets messy sometimes."

>Emiya: "Ahhh, during hallowing and Christmas, the room reflects the owners' heart. In short, you're the type that gets in high spirits when an Event rolls about."
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The alarm rings and Leonardo tells you over the PA system to come to the workshop and bring (armed) Servants with you. Since Emiya is with you, he tags along at once, although you forget to bring anybody else since you're in a hurry. Da Vinci is pissed that Roman came since the announcement specified he'd be in the way,

>Roman: "Who'd listen to that!? What did you do this time? Even a chicken like me will get angry once in a while you know."

>Da Vinci: "You misunderstand. This time it's not a personal problem, but one that involves all Chaldea!"

>Protagonist: "'This time'?"

>Da Vinci: "How rude. This time 'too'. I have been the science department advisor all this time, haven't I? We're short on time, so I'll tell you: I
have struggled against the truth of this world, until finally this world's deceit has been made clear to me!"

>Roman: "Hello, medical team? Yes, prepare a bed for one mentally disturbed pervert please."

>Da Vinci: "If you're not going to listen then leave!"
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Anyhow, Da Vinci shows you the Mona Lisa.

>Protagonist: "That's the infamous Mona Lisa!"
>Da Vinci: "Hahaha, I won't deny that. After all, countless blood and money has been spilt over this painting."
>Mashu: "Why the triumphant look?"

However, it's just an imitation made into a Conceptual Dress (The actual name for what we call Craft Essences here.) Emiya says the brush strokes seem to be filled with anger and enough magic energy befitting of 1000 Mana Prisms.

>Da Vinci: "The way you said that is full of thorns, but it's true! It is not a copy, but an imitation carefully made from scratch."

Emiya says that it's a strange copy made with less skill, but supplemented with more zeal and enthusiasm.

Anyway, Da Vinci says he's been selling her Mona Lisas, but suddenly clientele stopped, because apparently someone else has been selling these fakes. Roman shrugs and says that fine, telling her to close that shoddy unpopular shop anyway, leave the costumers to the faker and just focus on her duties.

>Da Vinci: "I'm really gonna kill you, Romani."
>Roman: "Alright, alright, sorry!"

Da Vinci says that the counterfeiter is for sure an evil person, but Emiya wonders to himself if it's true, thinking that the zeal he feels from the paining is pure. Da Vinci decides to go on an expedition to find the faker, and after some protesting from Roman about how Chaldea would be crippled if she were to die and that going out for something so trifling is stupid, you convince him to let you investigate.

Emiya tries to sneak off by saying he's got to go cook some meat stew, but Da Vinci ropes him in before he can flee. He grumbles some more about not wanting to get involved in this sort of event, and finally gives up after Mashu appeals to his Shirou-ness side by arguing they need as many Servants as possible to keep you safe.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You Ley Shift somewhere by following the faker's energy trail. You decide to walk around a nearby town and show the fake painting to people to see if they know anything… and immediately run into Caesar and Paracelsus. After a bit of shocked silence, Da Vinci howls at you to capture them. Caesar and Dr.P complain about being attacked without reason, but you go at them regardless.

After the fight:

>Caesar: "I plead innocent!"

Caesar assures you that he'd never feel comfortable peddling imitations, and Da Vinci recognizes he's the kind of guy who'd prioritize his customers' trust above all if her were a merchant. P on the other hand says that eroding the importance of the world's most famous painting with shams would be unthinkable for him as a magician, but wonders what kind of stuff he could create if he were to sacrifice the original, to Da Vinci's obvious displeasure.

Turns out Caesar had heard of the faker and had decided to investigate on his own, and brought P along for support. Everyone apologizes and you ask them if they know anything. Caesar says he's sure he's in that town, but also that his workshop had Servants under its command.

>Da Vinci: "Servants!? …I see, I understand. But who could it be? Michelangelo? Rafael? Or maybe Donatello?"

You part ways, and head off for the faker's workshop.

Holy fucking shit I really need a good Caster, these assassins monsters are going to town on me!
