This was hard to write.

Warning you now: there's a lot of profanity in this chapter.

You decide to spend your time with Korin.

You two spend your time quietly speaking about various things. No training, just being together as mother and daughter.

She offers to teach you the Taijutsu of the Uzumaki clan, but you say, "next time. For now, I just want to spend time with you, Mama!"

You remember Naruto. So, you tell your mother about Naruto very carefully - it's apparent he is disliked by the majority of the adults of the village. You say, "Mama, I found a cousin on the Uzumaki side of the family with my sensory yesterday."

"Really!" Korin says enthusiastically, "are you certain? What were they like? Wh-"

"Whoa, slow down, Mama!" You say, lifting your hands. Then, you tell her, "his Chakra was very similar to yours, yellow color and all."

"Really?! What was his name?!" Korin says.

"Uzumaki Naruto," you tell her.

She goes very still. She says, "are you completely certain that was the name?" Turning her head toward you suddenly.

"Yeah," you say, weirded out by her reaction.

"Did he have anything strange in his Chakra?" Korin asks this time.

"No," you say, "other than feeling like sunshine, nothing strange was going on with his Chakra. That verbal tic of his, on the other hand… I mean, who has a verbal tic like 'Dattebayo'? Right?" Smirking, trying to lighten the atmosphere.

Your smirk disappears very quickly when you feel the disturbance in your mother's Chakra - she is barely containing it now; her body has gone even more still this time, but it's probably the calm before the storm.

It dawns on you that your mother has a far greater Chakra reserve than you ever expected, even knowing about the Uzumaki clan.

True to your prediction, your mother says, "that motherfucker! Fucking old goat fucker, with a goat chin, goat-ass-sniffing, goat-smelling, goat-blowing, goat-tongue-speaking son of a whore!"

She starts pacing, continuing her tirade. Once or twice, she stomps on the floor and cracks it; probably using Chakra enhancement, her Chakra Control is exceptional-

Never mind that! What the hell is wrong with your mother! You hadn't heard her curse in years! She even said-

You try asking her, but she doesn't even hear you. So you slap her, only to be backhanded away.

Korin gasps, snapping out of her funk. She says, "oh, no! I'm sorry, my baby - I didn't mean to!" Panicked.

She fusses over you. Well, you've had better ideas than startling a ninja, even a retired one. Now you've got a bleeding cheek and a black eye, and you got off lightly. You're still in shock, so you don't complain about your mother fussing over you.

Well, at least you stopped your mother's… fit? Temper tantrum?

After you both calm down, you get her to your father for him to defuse the situation. Judging by how Mama said something about murdering the Hokage during her tirades, it's a wise decision.

You go and meet Naruto, finding him easily in the same place you've met him, not even truly needing your Mind's Eye of the Kagura.

"Hey, Naruto," you say.

"Rin," he greets in kind, "you came! After all that time, I thought…! Never mind. Wanna play?"

You nod, and play a lot of games with him, including 'ninja', which is an odd combination of tag and Hide and Seek. It feels… nice. You didn't get to play much in your old life, if at all.

At some points, you see a masked, silver-haired man with one eye covered hanging around Naruto, but you ignore him. You consider he might be a pedophile, but when you report him, nothing comes out of it. You are still cautious around him, though.

You repeat the meeting with Naruto many times this month, until he tells you he's going to start the Academy this week, and won't have as much time anymore. He looks slightly sad.

You say, "it's all right, I'm joining the Academy this week too," smiling at him.

"How?" Naruto says, "I thought you were a year younger than me. That's what you said, right?"

"Yes," you say, "but I'm starting early."

"This is going to be awesome!" Naruto says enthusiastically.

The entrance ceremony for the Academy includes a speech from the Hokage himself, and various parents are there, including Fugaku and Suiho, though the Clan Head looks like he'd rather be elsewhere.

You aren't very impressed by the Hokage's speech -this Will of Fire stuff just sounds like patriotism taken up to eleven- but you can tell this man truly believes in what he's saying, so you'll reserve judgment for now.

You meet your new classmates, who include a particular brown-haired boy with a dog and a blond girl who is almost certainly a sensor. You remember them from the park, even though you never met them from up close.

The boy with the dog is now 'complete'. He also has a bond with his dog that goes beyond just being connected through Chakra; you can tell. Said dog also has an active Chakra system.

'So this is what a pair of Inuzuka partners is like,' you think.

Naruto and Sasuke are both also there, and greet you.

Then, Sasuke says, "how do you know Rin?" Suspicious.

"She's my friend!" Naruto replies, "how do you know her?"

"She's my cousin," Sasuke says, a bit smug.

Then, they get into a fight over you. It would be amusing, if it weren't so pathetic.

An adult who may be your teacher comes close, and you bop both of the idiots on the head.

"Ow ow ow," says Sasuke, "do you have to hit so hard, Rin?"

Naruto says, "that light tap hurt you? You must be a wimp!"

"What was that, you yellow-haired idiot…?" Sasuke says, annoyed.

Naruto replies with, "you heard me, you duck-butt-"

Unfortunately for him, Naruto never gets to finish his sentence, because you grab both of them by an ear and get them to a seat each, sitting between them.

Your sensei enters, and he's a slightly overweight man with a goatee in his late twenties. He introduces himself cheerily as Funeno Daikoku, and asks that the students introduce themselves, too.

When Naruto's time to introduce himself comes, the man simply narrows his eyes, but gives no other indication of dislike. When your time comes, he seems more… anticipatory? The same with Sasuke.

In front of the entire class, you say, "I am Uchiha Rin. I'll be in your care," refraining from saying anything overly bold.

And so the introductions go smoothly. Fortunately, the first year of the Academy has only half days, and Saturdays are completely free (as are, of course, Sundays), so you won't lose all your free time.

The name -and philosophy- of the Uchiha clan's taijutsu style reminds you of Bruce Lee's Jeet Kune Do. You have also seen other strange coincidences, like the names of the Sannin matching the Tale of the Gallant Jiraiya, a myth from back on Earth, or the name of the Hokage's father having been Sarutobi Sasuke.

Suiho offers to find you another tutor for the Uchiha taijutsu; someone who truly is great at it. He will keep teaching you ninjutsu himself, either way. You accept; you like training with your new father, but you haven't met many of your father's cohorts.

So, a week later, you meet your tutor in a training ground. You say meet, but only the clan head is there. Wait….

"Greetings, Fugaku-sama," you say, bowing deeply, "are you to be my new taijutsu tutor?"

"…Indeed," he says, "let us say I owe Suiho a favor and leave it at that."

"Understood. It is a great honor to have the Clan Head himself teaching me either way, though, Fugaku-sama," you say, making sure to be polite.

The man shakes his head. He says, "you are quite different from your brother," though he isn't smiling.

You aren't sure he is even capable of smiling.

He runs you through the kind-of stances of the Uchiha style, but mainly, he tries to make you understand its philosophy and increase your speed, flexibility, stamina and strength. When you ask him if the Uzumaki clan's taijutsu is compatible for mixing with the Interception Fist, he pauses.

Then, he says, "that is a very good question, Rin, which calls for a bit of a lecture on history and even legends.
The Uzumaki clan usually were very good at predicting what the opponent were going to do and controlling the flow of a battle, had been since times immemorial.

>>As such, their taijutsu style, the Whirling Tide, evolved along similar lines as the Interception Fist. The philosophy of having a style without a style, of taking from other styles only what's necessary and discarding the rest, of flowing like water, is said to have come from the Sage of the Six Paths himself. You listen very carefully - Fugaku-sama has a way of captivating his audience, and is a fantastic teacher.

At some point, he manages to get your encounter with Naruto out of you. He doesn't seem prejudiced against the boy. But when you mention the one-eyed masked man, his demeanor changes. He tells you that the man has an implanted Sharingan, which the clan only tolerates because he was given it willingly, and doesn't seem very fond of the fact that Suiho personally taught Kakashi how to use the Sharingan in the past.

You wonder if there are others out there with an implanted Sharingan. If you were paranoid, you would be suspicious of every ninja with a covered eye.

…Actually, paranoid you has a very good point.

You also learn the Uzumaki clan's Fuuinjutsu Style and taijutsu with your mother. You put a lot of time and effort into them, and you manage many breakthroughs. You work with both her and Fugaku-sama to make a 'new' taijutsu style.

You also train with your grandmother; she teaches you about the Uchiha clan's Sealing Style; you start learning how to make weapons imbued with special abilities (the Uchiha made most of the swords the Seven Swordsmen of the Mist use today, during the Warring Clans era).

She tells you that Shisui was never interested in the Uchiha style of Fuuinjutsu, and that she's glad you are. You very carefully do not say anything, but she realizes what you're thinking anyway.

Nanako says, "if he doesn't like me, he can say so to my face; if he's a chicken, well…," cackling afterwards, making you smirk.

You go to meet Itachi in a particular Uchiha training ground. On the way there, you feel Fugaku's and Itachi's Chakra close to one another and agitated. Are they arguing?

You try to eavesdrop and hear something about Itachi's duty to the clan, and how he's the bridge between village and clan. Itachi is acting passive-aggressive, and brings up the fact that Fugaku has also started teaching the same young Uchiha - who is eavesdropping on them right now.

Wait, what?

…You get out of hiding, and greet the two of them with as much dignity as you can muster.

Fugaku shakes his head and tells you, "I take back what I said that other time - you're exactly like Shisui," leaving, but not without a few parting words for Itachi, "remember what I said, Itachi."

You see the look at Itachi's eyes and his active Sharingan, and you recoil; it's almost like… hatred? His Chakra is all but undetectable, but you can feel an edge in it that has never been there before.

Itachi sighs and deactivates his Sharingan. He says, "I am sorry you had to see that, Rin. Now, shall we?"

You aren't certain you want to be alone with Itachi right now, but you also sigh and head for the training ground.

You learn how to throw shuriken better from him, and how to become more nimble. Neither of you speaks more than is necessary; you are wary of him now, and he's more stoic than ever. You don't progress as much this time, but he does show you the trick he has taught Sasuke and tells you to 'work on it and you'll get it someday'.

You spend time with Shisui, learning how to counter genjutsu and killing intent, then make your own. It goes REALLY well. Your brother teaches you how to counter genjutsu; it takes you a few days to get it down so well that even he has a hard time getting one to stick while putting in some effort.

Then, you learn how to produce them. It takes you a few months, but you manage to get one to stick for more than half a second while he is holding back a bit, which is a testament to just how good a tutor Shisui is.

When you manage it at first, you smack your face on a few obstacles, which makes Shisui fuss over you, then laugh at you.

"I'm glad you think this is funny," you tell him, annoyed, but that makes him laugh even more.

He doesn't laugh when you reach a skill level that it takes a chuunin years to reach in only a couple months.

Substitution takes only a few hours for you to get - knowing the Shunshin helps a lot in that regard.

As for the Clone jutsu….

"You managed to produce a Clone, Rin? I heard from your mother about your Water Clone, but a simple Clone, too?"

"Yes," you say, "it's pretty easy, once one has learned how to control their Chakra density."

"Let me see your Water Clone," he tells you.

You make a Tiger hand-seal and make a Water Clone. Then, you show him an Earth Clone, which was easier to invent after you had gotten down the principles of elemental clones.

"Unbelievable," he says, shaking his head, and 'pops' the clones, carefully avoiding getting muddy and wet.

He tells you that your hand-seals are a bit sloppy, so the two of you work on that.

You are Tohsaka Uchiha Rin. And you are getting very pissed off at this blonde idiot. Whoever said orange was a unstealthy color was an idiot! A complete and utter idiot!

At some point Naruto started wearing this orange get up. Not the best looking thing in the world but it he seemed to love it so you didn't say anything. Now though? Now you are going to burn it after this!

You are playing Ninja. Typically finding Naruto is easy, his large reserves being a dead give away. But right now? Not so much.

Sure you can find his general location. But it's now Autumn. Which means leaves change colors. Such as orange. Now the blonde idiot has a natural camouflage you need to pick out of from and by the time you spot him and get to where he was he disappears on you! It's humiliating.

You'd make some clones to go after him, but that'd pretty much be admitting defeat at this point and you are not one to admit defeat! So you will get him if it's the last thing you do, or your name isn't Rin!

"I'm going to get you ya blond bastard!" You shout up at the tree he's in. As you begin climbing it you hear the same laugh he always has. Oh you are going to make him pay for dragging you all around the village.

Well, not ALL the village. A rather small part actually. But this has been going on for half a hour and you're beginning to tire. Not that you let it show of course. You have a reputation damn it!

The process repeats itself for another hour as you begin to completely exhaust yourself. How do you get him down here and be able to grab him? Your stomach rumbles and you smirk. An idea coming to your mind.

"Man this is hard finding him. I could use some food." You say beneath the tree he's in. "Perhaps I'll go get some Ichiraku Ramen before continuing trying to get Naruto. Shame he can't come with." You countinue saying under the tree before walking off in the general direction of the stand.

"No wait! Take me with you!" Naruto shouts dropping down from the tree. You smirk as you rush straight at him and tag him.

"Got you!" You say victoriously with a grin. Naruto blinks as he realizes what happened and pouts.

"No fair Rin! Now to apologize we need to go for Ramen, got it?" He demands. You giggle at how cute it is.

"Fine." You agree, rolling your eyes as Naruto celebrates.

Poor, poor Rin.

Your name is Uchiha Suiho, retired Jounin of Konoha, Husband to Uzumaki Korin, proud father of Shisui and Rin.

Rin continues to astound you. Hampered on creating a normal clone due to her high chakra density she made a water clone. And an earth clone. While hearing how Rin pranked her mother was amusing and assuaged your heart that she still had her childhood, it is also cause for worry.
For now Korin believes Rin to be waternatured. It is only a matter of time for that lie to be revealed. And Korin was never one to downplay achievements. More likely she'll brag about her genius daughter during her next shopping trip with Yui-San. Once she finds out Rin already has finished all five elemental transformations it won't be long and the whole Clan will know.

Which is why you and Shisui are keeping it a secret. Fugaku would pressure you more than he already does to get her trained faster.

What you fear most though is what happens once Korin finds out you have deceived her. The woman has a temper as you have just recently been reminded. It turns out Rin found a relative with her sensory talent. The explosion upon Rin telling Korin about him was completely unexpected. It seems the Hokage has lied about him to Korin. You have never seen her so furious - not even when Shisui had accidentally destroyed a keepsake from her mother - and barely managed to keep her from doing something shortsighted for now. You only hope that her newfound anger does not drive her to extremes.

Meanwhile Rin continues to befriend her newfound relative who turned out to be the host of the Kyubi. While you do not hold the boy accountable for what the beast did, you know not all share your sentiment. There certainly will be coming some trouble from this, but you will not forbid her from seeing a - however distant - relative. And it is amusing to watch her fail to find the boy hiding inside the leaves. You smile at remembering that sight. Maybe you should teach her how to hide better though. Especially how to hide her chakra from sensors. It has increased by quite a bit the last year after all.

You had been warned.

Your sister, who has a preternatural intuition, warned you off one-eyed men. And what do you do?

You pretty much get killed anyway!

You were on guard even after you killed Danzo-sama, which saved both your eyes after his Izanagi, though it had you off balance. Then, you very nearly fell victim to a Yamanaka's kinjutsu, which forced you off balance further; finally, THAT FUCKING ABURAME!

There's no time; you have to reach Itachi and write a letter or two. You can't warn the Hokage- no, wait. Your infection by the Aburame's Nanoinsects isn't as bad as it could have been, thanks to Rin's warning. It will accelerate your death, but....

Shadow Clone jutsu!

You reach the Hokage's residence, avoiding every ANBU, since they might be compromised by Danzo-sama- no, Danzo. When you reach his room, Hokage-sama is awake and anticipating you; he is a better sensor than you are, that's for sure.

He says, "Shisui? Why are you here at this hour? Did the Uchiha...?"

"No," you say, out of breath, "Danzo-sama."

The Third Hokage straightens up and says, "tell me everything."

"Mission failed, Hokage-sama. Danzo... intercepted me, then tried to steal my eyes. The- then, he had an Aburame infect me with Nanoinsects," you tell him, barely keeping from dispelling.

"I see. Should I assume that you are a Shadow Clone, then?" The Hokage says.

You nod.

He asks to examine you medically. You nod again, and his hands light up green.

He checks the damage to your 'body' and says, voice full of grief, "your original should have come straight to me. There was a chance-"

"Heh. We both know that only your female student could ha- have done anything against tho- those things Hokage-sama," you say, your vision starting to fade.

"Wait, Shisui. Is there anything else you can tell me?" Hokage-sama says, sounding a bit shaken.

"His... arm... felt... many... Sharingan... and superb... life-force," you manage to get out of your mouth.

"Rest, Shisui. You have earned it. Once I can pin something on him, Danzo will be dead or at least an S-class missing-nin," the Hokage says solemnly.

There's more words from the man, but you can't manage to make them out except something about Mokuton and Orochimaru.

You are in front of Itachi; it was very easy to find him, near the Naka river, where you first taught him about Genjutsu and how to throw shuriken.

You explain what happened as quickly as you can, and ask for something extremely important. You say, "please, Itachi - make sure that my sister comes out of this situation intact. Promise me."

"I promise, Shisui," Itachi says, very shaken.

"I want you to swear it on what you hold most important," you say, very much serious.

"I swear on Sasuke's life that Uchiha Rin will come out of this situation intact," Itachi says, voice solemn and slightly less broken.

"Thank... you...," you say, and remove both your eyes, your pain tolerance being enough that you barely react. "Give them to Rin, when she's re- ready for them (cough)," you then say.

You hear an, "I will," from Itachi, before you plunge a kunai into your own throat, using the ANBU-style jutsu for elimination of your own body seallessly afterwards.

Itachi's panicked cries and 'evolving' Chakra assure you that your gambit worked.

You've been Head of the Uchiha clan from the age of twenty-six. You've lived through two World Shinobi Wars, one as a child, one as a Clan Head.

At first, you tried to make the rest of the village, especially Sarutobi and Danzo, see sense, only to be blocked and practically spat at at every turn.

Now it's Sarutobi who is trying to make YOU 'see sense'.

Now, if only Itachi listened to you! Perhaps that is the burden of having a genius as a child.

On the other hand, Sasuke reminds you of yourself the most. You weren't a natural genius either, and struggled to get your parents' attention.

Unfortunately, you can't afford to give him that attention with the situation as it is. You've turned into your father, or maybe even Hiashi. The old Hiashi, before his eyes were opened the year before last. Now that's a man who saw his family as shogi pieces.... Hah! When is the last time you smiled?

Either way, you can tell Sasuke is smart and has heaps of talent -in some (many?) ways, more talent than Itachi; Itachi couldn't manage a Great Fireball of THAT level of power after a week when he was six, even though it only took him a single try to get it decently powerful- but Sasuke has to work hard for his achievements first, unlike the incredibly fast learner who is his brother. Not that Itachi doesn't work hard - he simply has never struggled with a new concept like you often did.

You wonder if Sasuke inherited Mikoto's incredible Lightning affinity - he is quite good at using the Fire element, unlike her, which he proved by learning the Great Fireball so quickly. You are so very proud of him….

He is the future of the Uchiha clan - as is Rin, for that matter, even if she's more similar to Itachi and Shisui both than you are comfortable with.

And speaking of Shisui... what the hell! You know that his loyalties were divided, but to kill himself, leaving his sister and parents behind...?

There is something more to this, and it has nothing to do with Yashiro's idiotic claims. You just hope the idiot will listen to your warning and won't provoke Itachi; you know what an Uchiha in the grasp of grief is capable of, and Itachi's skill is undeniable.

Yashiro -and whoever he brings with him- will likely be ripped to pieces if that scenario comes to pass.

"Aww, shucks," Shisui tells you, honestly blushing.

Too bad you don't have a camera on hand to capture the moment, but those things aren't exactly… stealthy, anyway.

You still have a really bad feeling for Shisui, though. You tell him to be very careful, and to beware of one-eyed men; Kakashi can't be the only one with an implanted dojutsu covered by something.

He looks at you seriously, and promises to be very careful with such people.

Fugaku-sama has made you and your father an offer: he is going to teach Sasuke the Great Fireball, and would like you to join the two of them to learn it too. You look at your father, but he tells you it's your decision. You decide to decline; the rite of passage is supposed to be done with one's close family, right?

You say, "thank you Fugaku-sama for the offer, but I feel I must decline - I know it is a great honor, but I'd rather follow tradition and learn from my father."

Fugaku-sama looks taken aback, but the expression changes to a small smile, the first one you've ever seen form on his face. He says, "perhaps I should have expected this; very well. Would you two be opposed to learning together, the four of us, instead? I would still teach Sasuke, and Suiho would still teach Rin; though, if you two are afraid of being shown up by Sasuke, I won't blame you," Fugaku says, this time smirking.

You nod at your father, and he nods back. You say, "we accept, Fugaku-sama," then cheekily add, "please tell Sasuke not to cry when he falls behind, though."

The last part makes Fugaku-sama chuckle, and he leaves you and Suiho to your devices.

Once the Clan Head leaves, Suiho puts his hands on your shoulders and says, "that was very brave, and very foolish, Rin - I'm not sure if it's more brave, or more foolish."

"Are you talking about me declining, or my taunting Fugaku-sama?" You ask him with a smirk.

"Both. Either," Suiho says, pacing around the living room. He then says, "be glad that he was amused rather than offended."

"Should I have accepted his first offer?" You ask in a small voice.

Suiho shakes his head and says, "I honestly don't know. Your decision is your decision; I left it up to you, so I feel I've forfeited the right to tell you if it was the right one, even if I had a strong opinion on this."

"Thanks Papa," you say, and smile at him tentatively.

Fugaku makes a very large Great Fireball as a demonstration, but you can tell this is far from his best; his Chakra barely gave any indication he was putting in effort.

Sasuke tries… and he manages a very small flame. Fugaku shakes his head, murmuring something, walks towards you and tells him, "your Chakra is most likely not developed enough yet. I shouldn't have rushed you. Come on, let's watch Rin," sighing.

Sasuke stifles his own protests and stands further from the pier, his pride wounded; it's your turn.

Your father looks at you and says, "know that I'll be proud of you Rin, whether you manage it on the first try or in a year; try not to lose to Sasuke, though."

You simply nod without speaking, preparing yourself for learning the spell- uh, jutsu.

Suiho shows you what the Great Fireball jutsu looks like from up close, with a lot more effort than it took Fugaku to make a similarly-sized ball of fire.

Your father's instructions are like this, "first, the hand-seals. You already know them. Then build up your Chakra, focus it in your lungs and hold it for a bit, force it through the throat, out the mouth suddenly. Turn it Fire-natured as it leaves your mouth, no sooner."

Snake, Ram, Monkey, Boar, Horse, Tiger! You go through the hand-seals; mold a lot of Chakra, concentrating it in your lungs; push it out of your throat, and- there! You give the Chakra the properties of Fire by imagining you are rubbing it against itself to cause friction, like a stone and a stick, or a matchstick and the corresponding surface, as you exhale.

What comes out of your mouth is a fireball about half as powerful, and half as long-lasting, as your father's.

When you stop exhaling, you look at the rest of the people present, expecting to be greeted with awe.

You see envy in Sasuke's eyes, which disappears, only to be replaced with determination; the expected surprise and awe in the Clan Head's face; and, in Suiho's case, pride but no surprise.

Suiho congratulates you and tells you how proud he is, while Fugaku compares you with Itachi. "No," the man says, "Itachi was left panting the first time he made a Great Fireball, while you are mostly unaffected. Rin, you are the future; I expect you to make the clan proud," and leaves.

After Fugaku has left, Suiho says, "shall we head home now?"

You shake your head and say, "I'd rather improve my Great Fireball until it's stronger than yours."

Suiho looks at you more carefully, with a badly hidden smile, then says, "suit yourself. Just don't come back home late for curfew."

These are the very last words you hear from him while he lives.

Shisui's funeral is a somber affair. What looks like the entire clan is gathered there, and Fugaku-sama makes a speech. You simply feel numb. The service passes by like a blur; someone nudges you, and you realize that the funeral service is over.

There isn't even a body to bury; Shisui most likely destroyed it, ANBU style. Korin is crying, and her Chakra has been affected by grief. As for Suiho, he is outwardly mostly calm, but his Chakra is even more affected, by far.

You remember something your grandmother has told you: she said, "the process of grief for an Uchiha is a strange thing; you will understand one day, hopefully not anytime soon."

As for Itachi, his Chakra is well-hidden. You focus your Chakra, and….

What's going on with Itachi's Chakra is on a completely different scale from Suiho! It's far 'darker' than before, as you would call it, and there's an addition to it - you aren't certain what. You look at him, outwardly completely stoic. What the fuck! Is he even human?! How much control can one have over their facial muscles, even when the storm of the century is going on below the surface?!

You knew that they were close, but this is far more than you expected! Could they have been… uh, together? No, Shisui wasn't a pedophile, or gay; you had seen him look at girls his age, though he had tried to be subtle.

Itachi looks at you, sees you making a hand-seal, and his Chakra is suppressed further.

You'll solve the mystery some other time! Right now, it's time for diving into your memories!

You find a quiet spot to meditate in a training ground, and look for memories of using the Second Magic. You ignore the rest… there!

You have surpassed Edelfelt at using the Second Magic without a channeling Mystic Code. You never had a doubt you would manage that. You open a minuscule portal to an alternate world… and draw Mana from it. Then, you draw Mana from a second world, at the same time.

The level of sheer agony you feel is on par with inserting a hot rod into your spine. But you persevere and manage to make a fake Circuit. After you've recovered from the pain, you run Od through it, turning it into Prana… and use that Prana to make a tiny portal into an alternate world.

You put the small amount of Mana you gather from the alternate world into your actual Circuits and, miracle of miracles, they activate! Oh, how you've missed the capability of using Magecraft! You check their integrity, and they are just fine. You believe they can channel about four times as much Prana as you used to be able to, despite only being three times as many, and freshly activated besides.

So far, so good. Trigger off.

Your Circuits deactivate. Then, you bring to mind your Trigger, and they activate again. You open another portal, to multiple alternate worlds, and bring in plenty of Mana. As it goes through your body-
It tries to combine with and overwhelm your Chakra! You quickly separate the Mana from your Chakra drawing it into your Circuits, but you're left shaken by the experience.

Three shady individuals approach the just as shady Itachi, and start to unsubtly blame him for Shisui's death. Itachi says something about them overestimating his patience and proceeds to beat them up, removing one of the individuals' eyeballs with his bare hand and crushing it! You think that his hand was imbued with Fire Release Chakra.

Then, he makes two hand seals, very slowly for Itachi, Horse and Tiger-!

…And Fugaku-sama stops him, then prostrating himself in front of his son, saying, "please Itachi, forgive these idiots! I know they should know better than to provoke an Uchiha who's grieving, but-!"

Two of the 'idiots' protest, saying something about 'the ultimate insult to an Uchiha' and 'poor Tekka'; the third is too shocked by the loss of an eye to say anything.

Itachi huffs, saying something about 'losing interest in burning away some trash' and losing his hope in 'this pathetic clan', throwing a kunai at a wall, exactly where the fan symbol lies. You can feel the unpolished Wind Release Chakra in that kunai, and it drives all the way into the wall, causing extra cracks to the wall and symbol due to being sloppily enhanced.

Fugaku-sama gets up and says, "Itachi. Itachi! What's gotten into you!"

You slink away, scared by Itachi losing control; he has an even temper, but when he loses it, he becomes a cold-blooded killer!

Your limbs tremble all the way to the Academy. Even Naruto notices, and asks you about it, though you brush him off… gently.

Ino tries to get you to go window shopping with her, possibly to cheer you up. You-

You want to cheer up Korin, but you don't know how. Maybe….

"Mama," you say, "would you like to meet Naruto?" Hiding your sadness at seeing her expression.

Korin pauses in the middle of making dough for cookies (Suiho left the moment he saw her taking out the ingredients. You don't blame him - Korin can't make cookies to save her life!), and says, "sure! Just let me finish the dough, though, and put it in the fridge; I'll give the cookies shape and put them in the oven later."

You hold back a sigh. When she finishes that abomin- uh, dough, you take her with you to the old playground in the park.

Naruto lights up as soon as he sees you, but regards Korin with suspicion. "Hey Rin! Who's this?" He says cheerfully, though you know better than to take his cheer at face value.

"This is my mother, Uzumaki Korin," you say, "Mama, this is Naruto," introducing them to one another.

Naruto bows and goes through the pleasantries; he now knows the consequences of being rude for no reason. His face changes expressions, though, when he realizes what her family name is.

Naruto says, hope apparent in his voice and on his face, "are we… related? I know that the Old Man said I got a random family name, but-"

"Yes, we are related," Korin says. Then, she scoffs and says, "I would like to have some words with the 'Old Man' too, but my husband is right - I can't just go to the Hokage and curse at him."

Naruto has a thoughtful look on his face. He says, "then, did the Old Man lie to me?"

"Probably," Korin says, a sneer on her face, "he told me that Kushina's child was dead - I wouldn't put it past him to tell a little kid lies about his parents."

Naruto looks lost, but he catches on to the name-drop eventually. He says, "wait, my mother's name was Kushina? Is she alive?" Looking slightly hopeful.

"Unfortunately, she's been dead for around seven years," Korin tells Naruto.

"Did- did she die in childbirth?" Naruto asks, looking devastated.

"No," Korin says, smiling tremulously, "she died fighting the Kyuubi no Youko."

Naruto looks relieved.

Korin and Naruto talk for a bit. She tells him about the Uzumaki clan, and about the responsibilities of a village leader.

She says, "if you ever become Hokage, you might have to lie to an orphan to protect him, or the entire village, too. A village's leader is responsible for everyone in the village," trying to keep him from being too hard on the Hokage.

Ironic, considering she is the one who wanted to kill him less than a year ago.

Naruto thinks it over a bit, then says, "if that's what being Hokage means, then I'd rather not become one. What if I have a family and ne- ne-… ignore my children, like with smokestack- um, Asuma-san?"

Korin says, "wait, that's not what I meant-!" Panicking a bit, but Naruto is immovable.

He has decided that his goals are to gain the acknowledgment of the village and have a family, and no force in this world or another is going to stop him.

Korin and Naruto bond, but Naruto suddenly says, "wait, does that mean that Rin is my cousin?! Hah! Take that, Sasuke!"

Suiho wasn't quite sure what he was looking at.

"Rin, what is this?" he asked.

"It's a new... jutsu I picked up recently," Rin said, summoning forth another one of the balls of black chakra. With a quick fling, she toppled another tree, and explained, "It converts prana... chakra into disease and then infects whatever I hit with illness."

Suiho looked around again. "The trees exploded." Suiho replied neutrally.

"Well, I'm putting so much chakra into the attack that the trees explode from the sheer chakra saturation, but if you came back in a few days I promise every tree I hit would be shedding leaves like mad," Rin replied.

"Rin," Suiho said, "You can't be doing that. First off, disease chakra doesn't exist, and second..." Suiho activated his eyes as he realized, "and second, that amount of chakra would blow yourself up..."

As Rin pulled up another ball, he felt how Rin's attack would work, but the way it worked was impossible. To copy it he would have to pull in chakra from sources which didn't exist.

"It's not my chakra," Rin explained, tearing into one of the fallen trees with her ball of energy. "I pull in chakra from the air around me for it via my... chakra... circuits, convert it into disease, then unleash it."

Suiho stared at Rin. There were so many things wrong with that explanation he didn't know where to begin. "Rin, that's called natural chakra, and if you were using it you would be made of stone right now."

Rin gave Suiho a flat expression, "Taking chakra in from outside doesn't turn people to stone, where did you get that stupid idea?"

Alright, considering he thought Rin's explanation was nonsensical, Suiho supposed he shouldn't have been surprised that the stone sage thing would sound equally ridiculous to Rin. "Rin," Suiho said, no nonsense, "People who bring in chakra from outside their bodies are called sages, such as Jiraya the Toad Sage. They're rare because for every person who successfully becomes a sage, two people turn to stone attempting the process."

Rin appraised her father, no longer looking at him like he was stupid, but she still said, "That can't be right, I've been using that chakra all afternoon."

"You're probably just using your own chakra for that thing, and it's probably just a regular old chakra ball," Suiho replied neutrally. "You shouldn't jump to conclusions about this kind of thing, you'll be the girl who cried wolf." Except for the fact that Suiho knew his explanation was completely wrong. But having the girl tell everyone she was a sage would not be good for her future survival as a ninja. "Now come on, all this stuff about making people sick by throwing chakra balls at them? No one is going to believe that."

Rin glared at her father, before creating a much smaller chakra ball and throwing it into a tree, the tree remaining unmarked, "Come back her tomorrow and tell me that I didn't infect that tree with the concept of disease."

"Rin, understand, anyone can make a fanciful tale, but without proof other ninja won't believe you," Suiho calmly explained. "And if it turns out your incredible stories are true, that only makes you a target. That's why you shouldn't tell stories, okay?"

"They are!" Rin said. "You'll see tomorrow that they are!"

"Alright, alright, I'll see tomorrow," Suiho replied with a smile sure, nay, hopeful that nothing would come of it.

The next day the tree was bare.

The one chapter, one IC year rule goes out of the window for this chapter and the next.

You awaken in the middle of the night. It's the third time that has happened recently.

…No, wait. Nothing like that happened. What were you thinking again?

You see the 'intruder' and greet him. You say, "hello, Itachi. Why is it that you came here? Do you have news?"

Itachi looks a bit out of sorts. He asks you when you will move against Danzo, nervously.

"Wait - Itachi, what are you talking about?" You say, confused.

Itachi tells you something about Danzo killing Shisui and trying to steal his eyes.

What? He seems serious, and you would have been able to tell if he were lying.

(Pulse)

Your head is aching. You barely manage not to make a noise in protest. You remember a particular nightly visit from Shisui, and not long after, a visit by Danzo.

Itachi looks rather concerned when you come out of your… seizure? He says, "Hokage-sama, I was really worried. What happened to you?"

"Danzo happened," you say, getting more furious by the second, "Kotoamatsukami."

"But he didn't get Shisui's eyes," Itachi tells you, faint signs of surprise on his face.

That only makes you more furious - Kagami is the only other person who possessed Kotoamatsukami in the history of Konoha. For Danzo to desecrate his own teammate's eye….

"Shisui's grandfather had Kotoamatsukami too," you tell Itachi, "if Danzo ever had a weak spot, that was his friendship with Kagami. For him to go that far means there is no redemption for him."

Itachi nods in understanding, though you can tell he's just as angry as you are.

You prepare to summon Enma-

Shit! You've been caught in some kind of… vortex?

You try to escape, and hear the distinctive sound of Itachi's Amaterasu activating, feeling some of the heat as well. It's too late, though.

You end up in what looks like a different world. It has square and parallelogram-shaped platforms, and is mostly dark. You had been studying the place for less than a minute when Itachi is dumped on a platform next to yours.

A man wearing a Kiri hunter-nin mask appears and starts taunting the both of you. He says, "your reflexes have dulled, Sandaime Hokage; the Yondaime managed to get away from the very same move. As for you, Itachi… your Susano'o would probably have been able to keep me from teleporting inside. If you were two years older and more experienced."

He has fought Minato. Also, Kushina said three words when you found her dying: 'masked- man- Uchiha'. "You are the one who broke the Kyuubi's seal nearly eight years ago and summoned it inside Konoha!" You tell the man, hatred and fury replacing the previous 'simple' rage, but you want to get more information out of him.

The man claps mockingly. He says, "ding dong! You've reached a correct conclusion, Sarutobi, Sandaime Hokage."

This man's Chakra is similar to Madara's, but jumbled up, as if… "Mokuton?! Are you the one who supplied Danzo with-"

"I'm afraid that's your errant student's work," the masked man says. "Now, my time is up; I need to go help Danzo slaughter my former clan-"

You unleash two jutsu simultaneously, without hand-seals, before he even finishes his sentence; both Fire-natured, and aimed at different angles in such a way that he cannot escape easily.

You put a lot of your Chakra in them, but you stop when you realize his Chakra is no longer there. "Space-Time ninjutsu!" You say out loud.

"I'm afraid you are right, Hokage-sama," says an Itachi who's bleeding from both eyes, "there is no escape for us."

"How's your Chakra?" You ask the far, far too young man.

"I've lost over three fourths of it because of using two Mangekyo Sharingan jutsu in a row, Hokage-sama," Itachi tells you, looking more hopeful after seeing your calm.

"I see," you tell him, "how good are you at Fuuinjutsu?" You ask him then, a plan forming in your mind.

"Decent, but not great, Hokage-sama," Itachi tells you.

You can work with this.

You've never seen Nanako so solemn before. Her Chakra is disturbed the same way Suiho's was, and her expression is pinched in a way you've never seen on her.

She says, "this is a long shot, but do you have any idea what really happened and why?"

You tell her Shisui told you he would kill himself if his loyalty to the village and clan ever clashed in a serious way and he was forced to choose one of them. Not for the first time, you secretly wonder if the Uchiha planned something treasonous.

The old woman says, "I see." Then, she murmurs something about ripping Fugaku a new asshole, but that can't be right… right?

Fugaku-sama gets up and says, "Itachi. Itachi! What's gotten into you!"

You slink away, scared by Itachi losing control; he has an even temper, but when he loses it, he becomes a cold-blooded killer!

Your limbs tremble all the way to the Academy. Even Naruto notices, and asks you about it, though you brush him off… gently.

Ino tries to get you to go window shopping with her, possibly to cheer you up. You say yes. You aren't sure what use window shopping is for two seven-year-olds, but you like Ino, so you can't bring yourself to refuse.

As the two of you look at various store fronts and many cute plush toys, and even cute dresses which are too large for your current sizes, Ino says, "so, I noticed that you were shivering a bit. Does it have anything to do with…?"

"No - well, not directly. Itachi-san was nii-chan's best friend, and after what's happened, he's become very scary!" You tell her.

"Itachi-san is that cutie Sasuke-kun's HOT older brother, right?" Ino asks you with a conspiratorial smile.

"Ugh," you tell her, disgusted, "please don't refer to either of my cousins as 'hot' or a 'cutie' in front of me again, Ino; and you aren't even eight yet; why are you looking at boys already?"

"Aren't you even younger than me?" Ino asks you, "sorry for making you uncomfortable, though; I forgot you were Sasuke-kun's cousin," she then says.

"It was a mistake, following you on your shopping expedition," you tell her, groaning, but she's unfazed.

Ino says, "nonsense. Now, onwards to the Specialized Plushie Store! I'm tired of looking at dresses I won't get to wear for years!"

You roll your eyes, but there is a small smile on your face.

That night at home, for the first time since you found out about Shisui dying, you cry in secret, your otherwise flawless self-control breaking to pieces.

Your feet take you… to Konoha's orphanage? You see a silver-haired boy with glasses around the age of fourteen look at the place in… nostalgia, you think?

You can also see a short middle-aged yet still beautiful woman with an identical pair of glasses. She has honey-colored hair, and gives off an air of kindness. She is staring at the silver-haired teenager with longing; is he her son?

You approach the middle-aged woman. She looks so motherly yet so sad. There is something off with her Chakra, and-

She has the potential for Magecraft…? You can't believe your senses, but she is the only one you've met in this world so far that naturally forms some Od, rather than the body's resources turning towards only Yang Chakra.

On the other hand, she doesn't produce nearly enough Od to be an actual Magus, but this proves that there are others with Magecraft potential around!

"Hello ma'am," you tell the woman.

The woman slowly turns to look at you and says, "you can see me?" Incredulous.

Huh? What does she mean by that? You ask her, and the answer isn't what you expected.

She says, "everyone else simply… ignores me, even my children," voice filled with sadness.

You aren't sure what to say to that. Could she be…?

The woman tells you, "so, are you a kunoichi in training?" More cheerfully.

"Yeah," you tell her, frowning a bit, "is it that obvious?"

"I was a Jounin and an ANBU Captain back in the day, before- never mind," she says, shaking and hugging herself a bit. "So, do you have a specialty yet?" She asks you, an interested gleam in her olive-green eyes.

"No," you admit.

"Would you like to learn medical ninjutsu? It was my specialty, back in the day," she tells you, a conspiratorial smile on her face.

"You are a retired Jounin medic?!" You tell her, completely stunned, and for very good reason.

Medics are targeted above all ninjas on a battlefield; Jounin-level medic-nins might be better able to defend themselves, but they are prime targets for assassination. For a Jounin medic-nin to survive to middle-age and retirement is an indication of incredible skill!

…She did survive, right?

She apparently takes your silence as a bad sign. "You don't want to?" She asks you, deep disappointment in her eyes.

"It's nice to meet you, Rin-chan," she tells you with a smile.

"So, Itachi-san, why have you brought me here?" You ask the thirteen-year-old. You are still wary of him, and for good reason.

Itachi remains silent, then tells you seriously, "I want to teach you two new jutsu. This is very important."

"I see. What jutsu will those be?" You tell him.

He gives you a lecture on a strange jutsu named Izanami.

"Wait," you tell him, "you can trap an enemy in a time loop?"

"Indeed," he tells you, then describes what Izanagi does; though not in nearly as much detail.

"You want me to know how to counter this 'Izanagi'," you deduce.

Itachi doesn't answer, but he gives you another jutsu to learn: the Clone Great Explosion. He tells you, "this is my own original jutsu. I usually use it with Shadow Clones, but it can be used with Water Clones, to a much diminished effect, because they have little Chakra of their own."

You try to explode your Water Clones, but it takes you quite a few days until you get the hang of the jutsu.

Fugaku seems to be in even more of a foul mood than usual. Still, he takes the time out of his schedule to teach you.

Fugaku says, "Rin, I know you are a sensor; did you notice anything strange in your Chakra?"

You tell him about the strangeness in everyone's Chakra, especially Itachi's.

He grunts, but then tells you, "as I suspected… but, did YOUR Chakra do the same?"

You think back to the moment you found out about Shisui dying, and you tell him, "well… yes, it did," not sure where he's going with that.

"Good. Put Chakra into your eyes; only a little, though," Fugaku tells you.

You do as he says, realizing what he's talking about. Then, Fugaku takes out a hand mirror and hands it to you. In your reflection, you see red eyes with a black tomoe (comma mark) each.

"Sharingan," you say with reverence. This is one dangerous Sorcery Trait slash Mystic Eye.

Fugaku nods, then he tells you, "I'd like to teach you something different from now on."

With that warning, he dives into the politics of mostly Konoha, but also a little about international politics. He teaches you how to negotiate, though you knew that already. You don't like where this is going….

"You have the devil's own tongue," Fugaku tells you after you outmaneuver him in a conversation for the third time.

You find a secret place, and practice some elemental spells… which are far, far weaker than their Ninjutsu equivalents, though stronger than they used to be. You decide to only concentrate on Gandr… which needs an incantation now, due to you not having your Crest.

"Fuck!" You say and charge up a Finn Shot, bringing down a small tree.

You work on reducing the incantation, not expecting much.

The results were better than you expected. Apparently, this world is different, or maybe it's your new physiology that allows you to reduce your Arias. Most likely the latter.

You decide to at least improve your Circuits in preparation for True Magic, even if you fail to make your usual Magecraft useful.

…And doesn't that chafe, knowing that your most used skills in your other life are reduced to this?

Itachi invites you to train with him again; this time, he tells you he will teach you something much different - he will carve battle experience into you.

Does this mean what you think it means? You barely have time to prepare before he's on you.

He also goes over many different mission scenarios with you; some that require stealth, some that require creativity and many more. He then enacts scenarios of his own, with help from his Shadow Clones.

You learn how to become more stealthy, how to infiltrate, how to adapt to unexpected adversity and most importantly, you learn how to survive against enemies far more skilled and powerful than you and seize victory from the precipice of defeat.

You repeat the training exercises and simulated combat with Itachi over the course of a couple of months, and you clearly improve a lot.

Itachi doesn't always allow you to use the Sharingan; sometimes, you even have to be blindfolded.

Itachi tells you, "now, I have a final gift for you, Rin," and summons… a crow?

There's something very familiar about its Chakra, and both its eyes look somewhat like the Sharingan-

Shit! You've been immobilized by Genjutsu, and by the time you break it (seallessly), something is in your stomach, and an extra eye has been sewed into your left shoulder.

You say, "what the fuck did you do…?" But Itachi has left.

You decide to spend some time with Suiho. You can't find his Chakra anywhere in the Uchiha district, so you follow the feeling to… a bar?

The guard -or is he a bouncer?- tells you that this is not a place for kids, but he relents when you tell him you are looking for your father.

You find Suiho seated across a clean-shaven man smoking a cigar a bit over a decade younger than him. He has a pair of sunglasses across his forehead. They are both nursing drinks.

"Rin?" Suiho says, obviously surprised at seeing you, "what are you doing here?"

"I was looking for you, obviously," you tell him, looking at him as if he's stupid.

He looks at his friend, then at you, and says, "okay…? What did you want?"

"I want to spend time with you," you tell him, "but who's your friend?"

"This is Sarutobi Shigaru," he tells you, "he's my best friend. Shigaru, this is my daughter, Rin."

"'llo," the man tells you reclining on the chair, very laid back.

"Hello," you reply back.

He tells you something about having a son around your age, Konohamaru. What idiot would name a child after the village?

Apparently Shigaru can read people well, because he says, "don't look at me like that. I only made the mistake of letting my father name my kid."

"Shigaru's dad is the Hokage," Suiho tells you, patting his friend on the back a bit more strongly than necessary.

"That explains it," you say, a small smirk on your face.

After the three of you have left the bar, you and your father head home.

He eventually tells you he's not in any shape to train you.

You look at him strangely. You say, "it's not training I wanted. I just want to spend time with you."

He looks at you for a moment, surprised, then smiles, which lights up his slightly aged face. He says, "I'm glad, Rin. You've become more sociable."

You aren't that bad… are you?

Either way, the two of you spend some time talking, then go to sleep.

The next day, your grandmother challenges Fugaku for the leadership of the clan.

Wait, what?!

Fugaku tells her, "Nanako-san, please reconsider. You know fully well that even if you win, the clan most likely won't accept the change. This is an archaic law, and you need to be at least Tokubetsu anyw-"

"I don't care!" Nanako says, furious, her Sharingan spinning hypnotically, "it's your fault that Shisui killed himself. Now, take your beating like a man!"

Fugaku sighs, then gestures at her and much of the rest of the clan to follow - to a training ground.

You can't believe Nanako had the audacity to do and say those things! Wait, no - they are perfectly in-character for her. But why did she wait so many months?

…Does that mean that Fugaku is a traitor to the village, maybe even more of the clan?

You are broken out of your musings by the fight starting.

Nanako unleashes smoke from her mouth, which Fugaku dispels with a Wind ninjutsu. The old woman closes in for the attack, only to be punched in the nose and- dispel into dirt?

The dirt coagulates, sticking Fugaku's arm in place, and Nanako gets out of the ground, nicking Fugaku's leg with a kunai, with him getting away. Then, she goes through hand-seals quickly, unleashing multiple small fireballs in what you recognize as Housenka no jutsu (Phoenix Sage Fire jutsu). Fugaku simply dodges, but the fireballs change directions slightly.

You didn't know that was possible with Housenka, you thought changing directions in mid-air was Housenka Tsumabeni's shtick.

"Enough!" Fugaku says and throws a few shuriken at Nanako, which she dodges, but Fugaku follows behind them and forces Nanako into melee range. His proficiency in taijutsu is far superior, and it shows. Then, he suddenly stumbles. "The kunai earlier - poison!" He says, surprised.

"You didn't think I was willing to go that far, did you, Fugaku?" Nanako says, voice full of spite, "it's not a lethal poison -though the gods know you deserve that-, but it's enough."

Fugaku, though, isn't yet down for the count. As Nanako takes out a kunai to put it at his throat, he punches her in the solar plexus, then-

He falls again, this time with a stab wound in the chest. You can already tell what's going to happen. You Body Flicker behind and a bit to the side of the culprit, Arkidi, and stab him in the side of his belly, hopefully getting a kidney. He collapses, but your grandmother has already gotten a shuriken in the head. She's dead. Dead! DEAD!

Damn it! DAMN IT!!

And Arkidi simply gloats. He says, "that- Nanako - she made my job easier! It took only a few wro- wrong words for her anger towards Fugaku to overflow at just the right mo- moment. Haha."

You kick him in the injured place, or rather, you try. He stands up, catches your foot and throws you away. While other clan members are attacking him, he makes three hand-seals and unleashes four Great Fireballs at the same time - this is the same jutsu Itachi used to keep you from being able to maneuver in training, Goenka (Great Flame Flower), which combines the Great Fireball's power with Housenka's multiple attacks.

The clansmen are burned alive except one, who unleashes a Water ninjutsu at… you? The jutsu hits only a log; you had already prepared a Kawarimi, just in case. The Water-natured clansman then plunges a kunai into his own throat, making you shiver; that's why you hate Genjutsu, and any form of mind-control.

Arkidi says something about someone named Danzo promising him headship of the clan after it's been culled a bit. Fugaku has already been taken away for first aid, you notice - which is wise, despite it usually not being a good idea to move a stab victim. You also notice Nanako's kunai is still close to her- body. You use Kawarimi to switch with the- body and leave a Water clone in your place, with a seal stuck on it.

You don't pick up the kunai yet, though; you simply Body Flicker behind it, and just in time - Arkidi has thrown a few shuriken at you. You pick up the kunai at the same time your Water Clone reaches him, only to be dispelled, splash him with water, and activate the Raiton tag it had on it.

That paralyzes Arkidi only for a moment, but it's enough. The poisoned kunai strikes true, hitting him in the left eye. He curses at you, saying, "fucking little cunt- just had to be done in by a little girl- ugh," collapsing.

You complete the hand-seals for the Great Fireball and burn what's left of him. You immediately regret that - you are going to need your Chakra. You can tell by how many clan members have died, and not just in the training ground.

All of a sudden, you feel Suiho's Chakra disappear and Korin's flicker, dying slowly.

Shit! Shit! Shit! You Body Flicker five times with your Sharingan active, taking a chunk out of your Chakra reserves, to reach your home… only to see it halfway collapsed. You see Korin outside the house with her throat slashed next to an eyeless, clearly d-dead Suiho. You immediately go up to Korin and make her bite your arm. She starts healing while you are sobbing.

You check her breathing, and it's starting to stabilize. You let out a sigh in relief. Then, you take in the sight of the Uchiha District - bloody corpses everywhere. You follow the most recent signs of devastation with your Chakra sense, and reach the Clan Head's house.

Mikoto is not breathing, and Sasuke is cowering behind an overturned table in front of a graying black-haired old man with one Sharingan in his eye socket and an arm full of more Sharingan, an arm that gives off a feeling of… vitality.

You stare him down, Sharingan on, and decide that if you are going to die, you might as well do it with style. You will-

You are Uchiha nee Uzumaki Korin. And you are pissed. You were out shopping before you felt your husband's Chakra start dropping and an unknown signature. By the time you got there though, he was already dead with a masked man standing over his corpse.

"You bastard." You growl out angrily, attracting his attention. You see a Sharigan eye through the hole in the mask.

"An Uzumaki." He says coldly before throwing a Kunai, which you easily dodged and threw in return. Oddly though, it's as if he were a ghost as it phased right through him. A Space-Time Jutsu. Well luckily, as a Seal Master, you have something to combat that to a degree. You hope, at least.

In theory, he can't touch you whilst intangible. If it's true? A simple barrier seal can stop him. If it isn't? You'll deal with that when it comes.

"Koton: Great Fireball Jutsu" The masked man says before sending a giant Fireball at you. You quickly retaliate by whipping out a scroll, with a prepared fire storage seal incase some village wanted to kill you, and have it absorb the Jutsu.

You see the man charging at you and you slap a pre-prepared barrier seal infront of you on the floor. It springs up and he stops, making you smirk. Seems you were right. He can't touch you unless he's completely tangible.

"I'm going to kill you." You tell the man, dropping the barrier and making a familiar set of handseals. "Fuuton: Wind Bullet Jutsu!" You shout, shooting out several balls of wind. Like you expected, he simply phased through them destroying a part of your house, but you wanted him to do that. Because the destroyed parts of the wall falls and surprises the man, forcing him to dodge.

You charge and kick his back, making contact and surprising him. He stumbles forward before turning around to hit you in return. Just as planned. You quickly flash through several handseals and finish moments before his hand touches your shoulder and…

"Adamantine Sealing Chains!" You shout out, Chains of Chakra suddenly appearing out of nowhere. They wrap around the wrists and ankles around the man.

"Got you." You say grinning victoriously. You watch as he struggles against the chains.

"What did you do!? Why can't I use Kamui?" The man demands in rage, causing you to laugh.

"I might not have the skill of Kushina with the Sealing Chains, but even I can reduce your control and accessible amount to Chakra to less than the amount for a simple Subsitution." You boast before you place your hand on his stomach, arms, and legs, all high power explosive tags.

"I'd like to know who killed my husband. But it'd be better if you were to disappear from history, no one knowing who you are." You tell the man, his Sharigan eye spinning as you say the last words he'll ever hear.

"Kaboom." With that simple phrase uttered, you cause the seals to explode, destroying both the body and the chains. As you begin turning to the corpse of your beloved husband you feel something Slice through your neck deeply, and would have impaled had you not turn. Your hand clamps against it as you fall onto your back, beginning to drown in your own blood. As you start to black out, you register two things.

The first, your daughter's Chakra coming closer, enraged and panicked. The second, was a single word from the man you swore you blew to hell.

"Izanagi."

Poor mom.

The woman tells you, "so, are you a kunoichi in training?"

"Yeah," you tell her, frowning a bit, "is it that obvious?"

"I was a Jounin and an ANBU Captain back in the day, before- never mind," she says, shaking and hugging herself a bit. "So, do you have a specialty yet?" She asks you, an interested gleam in her olive-green eyes.

"No," you admit.

"Would you like to learn medical ninjutsu? It was my specialty, back in the day," she tells you, a conspiratorial smile on her face.

"You are a retired Jounin medic?!" You tell her, completely stunned, and for very good reason.

Medics are targeted above all ninjas on a battlefield; Jounin-level medic-nins might be better able to defend themselves, but they are prime targets for assassination. For a Jounin medic-nin to survive to middle-age and retirement is an indication of incredible skill!

…She did survive, right?

She apparently takes your silence as a bad sign. "You don't want to?" She asks you, deep disappointment in her eyes.

You tell her that you'll think about it; medical ninjutsu is a very useful and rare skill. Even if you have the 'Healing bite' bloodline trait, your mother has told you that, according to what she had seen from her younger sister, you can only use it once in a day safely with your current Chakra levels.

A second time and you'll scar yourself, and a third one will near-fully deplete your Chakra on its own.

The woman seems aware that you aren't just trying to dismiss her, and are truly willing to learn; so, she smiles brilliantly.

After you give your reply, you realize that you haven't learned this woman's name, so you ask her.

She considers your question for a few seconds, then says, "I've discarded my previous names and identities. Just call me 'Hollow'.*"

That's… one depressing name to give to oneself. You tell her that your name is Uchiha Rin.

"It's nice to meet you, Rin-chan," she tells you with a smile.

You check Korin's breathing, and it's starting to stabilize. You let out a sigh in relief. Then, you take in the sight of the Uchiha District - bloody corpses everywhere. You follow the most recent signs of devastation with your Chakra sense, and reach the Clan Head's house.

Mikoto is not breathing, and Sasuke is cowering behind an overturned table in front of a graying black-haired old man with one Sharingan in his eye socket and an arm full of more Sharingan, an arm that gives off a feeling of… vitality.

You stare him down, Sharingan on, and decide that if you are going to die, you might as well do it with style. You will go all out immediately - you're going to need it against this foe, you can tell.

For a moment, you are tempted to fight aggressively -you really want to kill this particular foe, who DARED ruin your family- but you know better than to give in to anger and hatred. You've got to play this smartly.

He sneers at you and says some kind of taunt, but you've already started tuning him out, only getting that his name is Danzo from that. That's fortunate because a Wind ninjutsu comes your way before he even finishes speaking,

You see multiple Wind balls, all but impossible to avoid, and Body Flicker to a safe place- only to see him breathing out a bigger, singular Wind ball, having tracked your progress with his obviously stolen Sharingan.

You make a Tiger seal only, breathing out a Great Fireball, taking a large chunk out of your Chakra and causing you burns inside the mouth due to the sloppy, one-sealed execution.

You disengage from the Wind-Fire showdown the moment the Wind attack is completed and Body Flicker in such a way that the flames are between you and him, to blind him, going towards the non-Sharingan side, away from him. Then, you Body Flicker again, this time a large jump all the way behind him.

You're panting, and he has already begun to turn around-

…But there's something wrong with him. Maybe Mikoto-dono did something to him before she died.

You force yourself to go through the hand-seals for Shinkuuha (Vacuum Wave), and Danzo humors you, doing the same. You sidestep in such a way that he is forced to follow suit, putting all his weight on one leg for a moment. You prepare for Izanami, marking the moment with your left eye, realizing what those eyes in his arm are for.

As you both finish your hand-seals, Danzo stumbles, cursing Mikoto. That Shinkuuha of yours hits… a young teen with a face mask that even covers his eyes, seeing through glass-like… things? The boy has pushed Danzo away, taking the hit in his stead.

The man callously tells the dying boy to report; you aren't able to take advantage of his laxity, because the Wind ninjutsu has left you too winded (no pun intended) - it must have been a B ranked jutsu. You stand there, panting and sweating, trying to regain your stamina, with the Sharingan off.

Danzo, in the meanwhile, breathes out multiple Vacuum Bullets, targeting you- and Sasuke!? You can't-!

The one-eyed stalker moves in front of Sasuke with a Body Flicker, and an exact same copy does the same in front of you, both getting hit… and dispelling in a cloud of smoke. Then, the stalker and a lightly bearded man who looks a lot like Shigaru-san run inside and stand on two sides of Danzo, the former in front of you and the latter in front of Sasuke.

"Are you all right, kid?" The stalker asks you, Sharingan angled toward Danzo, "injured anywhere?"

"No, just really low on Chakra. Do you have any Soldier Pills, stalker-san?" You ask him.

"My name is Kakashi," he tells you, exasperated, "and it would be really irresponsible of me to give a soldier pill to someone so young."

"Uzumaki constitution, stalker-san," you say as a reply.

"…Never mind," he tells you, and hands you a soldier pill, "it's just a relatively weak one, though," never taking one eye off Danzo.

You take the pill immediately, and activate your Sharingan. You get a second wind, similarly to how Naruto does when you two are playing ninja.

The bearded man attacks Danzo with twin trench knives, covering Sasuke's retreat. He makes a couple of hand-seals and puts Wind Chakra into the knives, too.

Danzo simply grunts at the Sarutobi (?), jumps away and goes through hand-seals, biting his thumb and saying, "Kuchiyose: Baku!"

And summoning a very weird creature.

"What the hell is that!" You say; this is a creature out of nightmares.

The whole thing turns absurd when it starts sucking in air- of course!

You tell the possible Sarutobi to give you wind, and you go through the last three hand-seals of the Great Fireball. You make sure to synchronize your Chakra and movements with his, with help from your Sharingan.

Katon - Goukakyuu no jutsu (Fire Release - Great Fireball jutsu)!

The scruffy man's Wind ninjutsu boosts it to unprecedented levels. You keep on breathing out fire, the inside of your mouth still hurting from the earlier burns, and force the chimera-like monster to disappear in a cloud of smoke before it fully inhales the conflagration.

In the meanwhile, Kakashi is making Earth walls to stop Danzo's Wind ninjutsu, with help from a clone of his. You hide behind one of those walls -it has survived Danzo's attacks enough to not collapse completely- putting it between you and Danzo.

You use some of the mud in the ground to form an Earth Clone, burrowing underground yourself, which hasn't been a very hard thing to figure out. The house is pretty much destroyed enough that the floor is no longer there, too.

You make the clone pretend it's nearly out of Chakra; it won't be able to use the Sharingan anyway.

Then, it makes use of Kakashi and Sarutobi's distractions to get close to Danzo and hugs him in a near-inescapable way.

You get out of the ground, making Sarutobi's hand-seals (Monkey, Bird). You mark the moment with your Sharingan, and as your Earth Clone explodes (which Danzo nullifies with a seal-less Wind jutsu), you throw your sole kunai, enhanced with Wind Chakra, at the Sharingan in his eye socket.

Danzo makes a motion with his head, and mostly avoids the kunai, though he's bleeding from his temple profusely… only to get a Lightning ninjutsu (nintaijutsu?) in the side of his ribcage. With your anatomy knowledge, you judge that his heart has been pierced by Kakashi's hand.

He suddenly returns to life- and gets a Shinkuuha (Vacuum Wave) in the collarbone area before he even gets his bearings thanks to your Chakra sensory. You mark this with your Sharingan too, getting tired but controlling yourself. The eye on your shoulder is used to channel Izanami, and it falls off on its own. You note it has turned whiter than Hinata's eyes.

This time, when Danzo returns, he is in a trance, and you don't think he will wake up anytime soon.

The young woman says, "oh! You're awake!" Surprised quite a bit.

She calls for a medic-nin, and a woman in her late thirties enters, tall and brown-haired. She starts examining you and says, probably to herself, "the burns in the inner cheek and lip area have already healed well. There is no serious strain of the eyes and the Chakra network in the area. As for the Chakra exhaustion… it is closer to being cured than expected."

You clear your throat, and the woman nearly jumps. You say, "excuse me, sensei."

"Yes? What is it, dear?" She tells you, a bit condescendingly.

You ignore her tone and say, "was a particular woman brought here? In her forties, though she looks significantly younger. Red hair and eyes. Average height."

The woman checks her clipboard and says, "ah, Uchiha Korin. She is your mother, correct?"

You nod.

The medic-nin says, "she is physically mostly intact, but she received very little blood and oxygen to her brain for several minutes. There is a decent chance of severe damage, and a very high chance of serious damage."

"…Permanent brain damage?" You ask, though you have already realized the truth.

"I'm afraid so," the medic-nin says, her voice and face not changing inflection and expression. Then, she says, "now, a few pieces of advice for recovering from Chakra exhaustion-"

"Do not use your Chakra at all, do not overly exert yourself physically or mentally; at this level of Chakra exhaustion, and considering major Uzumaki heritage, for at least twenty-four hours," you tell her, "plenty of sleep and fluids; force yourself to eat even if not hungry. Is that correct?"

"Yes, but-"

"May I please be left alone for a bit?" You ask her, your emotions about to overflow.

The medic-nin takes a better look at your face, and apparently decides that discretion is the better part of valor - she all but sprints away.

"Fuck! FUCK! FUCK! You shout to the heavens, then collapse, slipping from the bed to the floor.

Sobs are wracking your entire body. You were given a new chance to have a family… only for the same shit to happen again! Why? Why!

Your Sharingan switches on and off, and with a colossal effort, you wrest it down, switching your eyes off.

Sadly, it's too late.

Wait, no. You aren't certain how badly off your mother is, but Sasuke is most likely still alive. Itachi and Fugaku may be alive. Naruto wasn't affected by this. There must be more members of the Uchiha clan alive, too.

After you have visited your close family, you are swarmed by visitors. There must be around forty Uchiha who came to see you, mostly children your age and younger, though there are adults too.

Wait. Is this all that remains of the Uchiha clan? The last census had them at two hundred and thirty two! You voice your question, and a kunoichi with a Chuunin vest replies.

She says, "aye, Rin-sama. This is what the treachery of Arkidi, the old war-hawk and… whoever that masked Uchiha is, has wrought. Itachi-san thinks he's Madara. Whoever he is, may he rot in hell!" Spitting mad.

You clench your fists, remembering all that happened during that night. You say, "so, there were more than Danzo and Arkidi? And what's this about a masked Uchiha?"

"Yes, Rin-sama," the female chuunin says solemnly, "Danzo's Root forces were also among the attackers, and the masked Uchiha killed a lot of us - he also apparently killed your father and seriously wounded your mother. Don't worry - I made sure to take your mother to the hospital. Danzo killed Mikoto-dono and a few others himself, but you got him good, Rin-sama! The Sandaime and Itachi-san fought off the masked Uchiha and killed a lot of Root members."

"Wait," you say, suddenly noticing the honorific used, "why are you calling me 'Rin-sama'?"

"You avenged my brother by killing Arkidi," she tells you seriously, "and saved Sasuke-kun and more clan members by stalling and beating Danzo, as well as killing that Aburame. Without you, things would be a lot worse. Besides, you are the main candidate for new Clan Head, Rin-sama."

Doesn't one have to be at least Tokubetsu Jounin to be a major clan head, though? And what about Itachi-san? You voice your questions.

The chuunin, who introduces herself as Haru, says, "normally, yes, but the Sandaime promoted Itachi-san to Jounin and you to an honorary Tokubetsu Jounin first thing this morning," a grudging respect for the Hokage in her voice. "As for Itachi-san, he has declined the Clan Head seat already, and the remaining adults of the clan don't trust him much anyway, especially the temporary head of the Police, Tekka-dono," she tells you, gesturing to a one-eyed man in his early twenties, the same person Itachi blinded halfway.

You can tell that this Tekka is a sensor by the feel of his Chakra, and he nods at you, likely able to tell the same thing about you.

You also always have seniority over those your actual rank, if it's below your honorary rank.

"Just… let me think about it, Haru," you tell her, a headache starting to torment you.

The children swarm you, shouting, "Rin-sama!" But Tekka-san and Haru usher them out.

You are excused from the Academy for a while. It's a bit of a pity, since this year's teacher, Iruka-sensei, is very likeable and still as competent as the previous one. But it's probably for the best - the second half of the third year starts out a full-time schedule (only Sundays off, only Saturdays are half-days).

After you finish reading the two scrolls and/or books, you head towards your home to sleep.

The next day, Tekka-san tells you that you are both wanted at the Council Chamber. The two of you head toward the meeting; he explains while on the way that this is going to decide the fate of the clan. You find two clan heads at your destination: one looks a lot like an older Shikamaru, except scarred; and the other looks older than most Clan Heads.

They introduce themselves as Nara Shikaku and Kurama Unkai. You pay careful attention to what is said and even what's left unsaid, and conclude this is about reparations being paid to the Uchiha clan.

Tekka-san starts the negotiations, but is blocked at every turn. You can see him losing his cool, and-
