Ok, sooo was it said earlier that poisons make Poison types stronger? It appears that both Oddish and Nidoran like to eat poisonous stuff. And the more potent the more they like it. That's important piece of info.

Absolutely, and confirmed here:
"Sounds good. Probably want to err on the side of excess on dosage if you can afford to, since it's nigh impossible to overdose a Poison-type. That'll give you more room for error on waiting for it to fall asleep, and it'll actually be beneficial for its growth, too
"The fertiliser should work for Oddish. Juvenile Nidoran tend to adopt a herbivorous diet, so any poisonous fruit or plant should work. The more poisonous, the better. A common trick is to forage for nearby poisonous fruits and then spraying them with a mixture of volatile poisons."
@wdango do we know what effects poison has on development? Does it just improve poison strength, or does it also affect evolution chance and stuff?

"Mhm."

"Thanks, Professor!"

"Mhm."

"I'll be leaving now, okay..?"

"Mhm."

And then you go.
Preoccupied professor is preoccupied.

A lot of the questions being asked seem like things Kotone and the other cadets should know IC, by virtue of studying in the university for three years. I mean, what the hell did we even study if we don't know if we can put sleep powders in bottles or not?
Another Ask Fiend Anything time?
You need the dango to answer them first. I don't actually generate those answers.

So new plan, feed Oddish poison?

Can we get Nidoran to poison Oddish, and Oddish to poison Nidoran? A little early to be plotting training sessions with pokémon we haven't even caught yet, but I'm sure Silver wouldn't be opposed.

I think folks just got distracted discussing poison training plans. I'm not in a hurry to flesh out professor questions since you're busy and I think Koto could use a break to play outside.

Man, 3 votes? Is this quest dead already? :(
You've straight-up said that you don't have resources to spend right now, and probably won't until after the move. That suggests that it's going to be a bit before the next update, which lowers the urgency level. People aren't super-enthused about the whole training thing (because training can't actually help us for the next hurdle) but they're not comign up with much in the way of questions, either. Personally, I keep getting the impression from what people are saying/writing that our plan could use more information, but it's in a sort of game-esque "increase information numebr on this plan" way, rather than any feelign that the plan itself needs work. We basically know what we need to do on Oddish, and the feedback we've gotten has all been in the form of "Yep. That's basically right. That'll basically work. Maybe tweak this part of it." Our plan for Kangaskhan is... pretty similar, really. I'm sure that if we go into the meeting with the next prof with the right questions we can get a useful tweak or two there, too, but coming up with what sorts of questions to ask, when the plan looks pretty solid to begin with, is not entirely trivial. That leaves me, at least, sort of vaguely hoping that someone else comes up with some good questions to ask that I can maybe bandwagon on.

I suppose, going to talk with Ivy, that the big ones would be asking for things like tips on tracking our pokemon of choice down faster, surviving the Safari Zone, making it through the Safari Zone as quickly and safely as possible, and tips on trap use. Part of the problem is that her class is the one we're really good at, which basically means that "I'd expect you to know this already, but..." answers seem even more likely, and we've already run into a number of those.

I dunno. That's just what I'm seeing.

If I were a cynical man (which oh, look at that, I am), I would suggest that it is because none of the talkers have made anything prominent enough for the lurkers to bandwagon on to.

Anyway, looking over the remaining professors, I have some thoughts and questions.

Ol' Sammy Oak is probably out of our league unless we have some sort of pressing need to talk to him, which we do not.
Philena Ivy, Ecology

Always seemingly absentminded and a little bit distant, you've never seen her angry, but if the rumour are true... you really don't want to.

She teaches Survival, Navigation, and First-Aid.
Now professor Ivy would be a good teacher to get some more feedback from, as finding pokemon will be a big part of some of our challenges.

-[] Describe our plans, ask for comment.
-[] Any advice for tracking oddish, nidoran and Kangashkan?
-[] Any advice for traversing the Safari Zone in relative safety?
-[] List loadout, any essential medical/survival/tracking gear we are missing?

Robert Elm, Vice-Chancellor

The man who's in charge of recruitment, he strikes you as friendly and amiable.

Honestly, if you haven't seen the photos, you wouldn't be able to imagine the man in armour and with a gun in his hand. As far as you know, he's in charge of all administrative issues.
Honestly, I'm not super clear on what we might need to see elm for. If he's in charge of our loadout, a consult about supplies and equipment might be in order, but that's not high on my priorities.

-[] Is there any gear available for communicating with each other in the field? radio, walkie-talkies, etc.
Pierre Sigebert, Archeology

A new member of the faculty. You've never met him in person, only from a distance, since he doesn't actually teach any classes yet. The Archaeology department is brand new, after all. Word is he's preparing a new syllabus that will be rolled out next year.

Now that you mention it, he looks like he's around the same age as Bill... But somehow, he's just got this mysterious aura about him.
Honestly, I wouldn't mind doing a consult with the Archaeology prof at some point.

-[] What was the area now covered by the safari zone before the reemergence of pokemon?
-[] Is anything known about the origins of the Safari zone beyond common knowledge?

Anyway, I think that Ivy is probably the next professor to speak to, and will probably suffice.
[X] Talk to Professor Ivy
-[X] Describe our Oddish capture plans, and ask her if she has any comments or concerns.
-[X] Ask if she has any advice for tracking oddish, nidoran or Kangashkan, beyond the basics we already know.
-[X] Ask if she has any advice for traversing the Safari Zone in relative safety.
-[X] tell her what medical, tracking and survival gear we are currently planning to bring, and ask if she can see any omissions.

Feel free to shout out any other questions.

Also, an option we might want to take at some point:
[] See what Silver is up to, and join in/help out

Yeah Ivy is definitely one to ask for tips on not dying from nature itself (apart from the Pokémon). The questions Skew and Wysteria put up are pretty good fits. Probably keep the questions short and concise so Ivy doesn't flip out at us.

@Skewfiend what if we specified how to trakc them, like footprints, dung, markings? Kangaskhan are said to also be territorial, right?
Also specify that we are planning a South-North-South route for the third question.
Maybe bring Silver along with Kotone? Unless he already asked...

I'm somewhat iffy about asking Ivy about Nidoran and Kangaskhan habits in detail before researching them, as I fear we will end up with the 'do your own basic research' answer again.

But we don't have enough time for all of that, do we?

I doubt the professor will care. She'll probably say something along the lines of if you have the time to ask me, you have the time to search it up yourself. Her time is worth more than ours.
*flashbacks to professors' snark and my own hopelessness*
Ok fine, we'll go train or research or something...

We can probably ask Ivy questions after the interviews....

I wonder if we could ask Silver and Leaf about tracking, they're better at navigation than us, right?

Really, Gary probably covered most of this stuff. Gary is excellent.

Okay, crazy suggestion here: We're more than ready for Oddish. Silver will get us extra pokéballs. Do we want to research a different pokémon we'd like to catch in the Safari Zone if given the chance?

So if we conveniently run into, like, a Scyther we know what to do to capture it?

We'd get him arrested or something, we're not allowed to use the extra pokeballs except as extra chances on capture....

That said, kinda yes. Tauros Tauros.

I don't specifically remember that rule. That said, it sounds plausible enough, to which I say: Use the pokéball, shrink it, keep it hidden, "find" it again when we're allowed to have more pokémon. Are we a ninja or not?

Possible. Depends on whether Pokemon need to be taken out and fed or if you can keep them in stasis indefinitely... @wdango?

We don't need to ask about the other pokemon. So we shouldn't.

According to the poll, Scyther is catching up with Oddish in popularity. Maybe people are really confident in avoiding a rock slide?
In this case, "rocks fall; everyone dies" makes a lot of sense ;)
