Todd In The Shadows, a funny music review Youtuber I want to share with y'all.

There's a similar thread about a consistently updating analytical Youtube channel for Overly Sarcastic Productions, who I also love, so I figured I should take a shot and make something similar for someone I like.

So, Todd In The Shadows is a music reviewer/historian with a Youtube channel who has been active for about 10-ish years. He was formerly affiliated with Nostalgia Critic's circle, but broke away when that whole scene imploded. He's now independent, but still on good terms with some of the other people from there like Lindsay Ellis and so forth. He has a Patreon you can subscribe to if you want early access, as well.

Todd does the usual Music Reviewer type stuff-he does videos on popular songs at the moment, his most recent in that broad series was his video on Kendrick Lamar's Not Like Us music video dropping, though you may want to quickly watch the one before that, which lays some groundwork on the whole Drake/Kendrick Lamar feud:

He also does end-of-year top 10 lists for best and worst songs of the year, that hasn't come out yet for 2024.

But he has two bigger series that go more into music history. The first is One Hit Wonderland, where Todd goes over the story of a one-hit wonder act, talks about their hit, talks about their immediate follow-up to the hit as well as where their career went from there, and then asks if they deserved to be more famous or have more hits.

As of this posting, his latest One Hit Wonderland covers Tom Cochrane's "Life Is A Highway":

His other series is Trainwreckords, where he covers career-ending albums from big names, which tend to be longer form, going over their career up to that point, the singles, the album as a whole, why it flopped, where they've gone from there.

Right now, his most recent one covers Kid Rock's "Bad Reputation" album, in which Kid Rock calls the left a bunch of snowflakes and tells them to go cry into their participation trophies:

Todd is a really funny writer, he has a pretty deep well of history on music, he's got a good voice, and he has a neat but simple visual gimmick: him, face framed in shadow, wearing a hoodie, sitting at a piano (which he'll play for the intro of an episode). Obviously there's intercutting of interview footage and music videos and stock images and so forth, it's not just him talking to the camera, but it's both a good mystery hook but also not too flashy.

He's just a cool guy who I've been following for years and I wanted to share, see what y'all thought of him.
