In 2025, war is raging as eldritch abominations from the depths of the watery abyss named "Abyssals" waged war on humanity and as Kanmusu, or shipgirls, came to combat them, the Wizarding World became nervous, afraid even. When you throw in good ol' Harry Potter's luck, things will certainly start getting interesting now, won't it?
Chapter 1
A/n: Before this story begins, I'd like to mention that no art featured in this chapter is mine and all credit goes to their respective creators. This just shows a visual representation of scenes and images that go into the plot.

From centuries past, starting with the battle between the USS Monitor and CSS Virginia, the age of steel began in the eyes of naval warfare.

From that fateful battle of 1862, technology progressed and steel warships advance further and further as more battles were fought and greater beasts of steel were created.

The true rise of these warships was the creation of the British HMS Dreadnought, a new type of ship that, upon creation, instantaneously made every single ship that existed before it obsolete.

This event, in that very moment, was the beginning of the naval arms race that would see the British Empire, the undisputed ruler of the waves, and Germany, the rising empire, race to create bigger and better warships. Through the events of World War 1 and 2, this was very much shown, with many other nations such as the United States and the Imperial Japanese Army, joining in with many famous ships were created, for example the Yamato or the Iowa (from Japan and America respectively).

Skip to the future of 2025 and we come into a new age once more. Unfortunately, however, not every age is a good one.

This was the Age of Monsters, and it struck as early as 2015, a decade before they even truly revealed themselves.

To start our tale, it began with the occasional ship going missing, but it was shrugged off as a freak accident and swept under the rug.

After many more instances throughout the year however, the governments across the world began to feel suspicious, but after a yearly increase in the number of typhoons, hurricanes and overall bad weather, it was once more swept under the rug.

It was not until 5 years later when survivors of these missing ships began to show up, telling tales of horrifying monsters with massive guns almost fused to their body that obliterated their ship. Thanks to the hubris of humanity however, these incidents were covered up and swept under in fear of panic.

Now we get to 2025, where what would be known as "The Great Awakening" occurred, a turning point for humanity, but certainly not in its favour, not by a long shot.

Why was it called The Great Awakening?

Simple, because it was a wake-up call to humanity that their position as the dominant race was being contested.

Eldritch abominations, just as the sailors had told them about, rose from the watery depths of the abyss and laid siege upon the coastal cities and towns of humanity. The destroyed cities, wound their way up large rivers and devastated anything in their way at lightning speed.

This was terrible for humanity, but even worse for the magical communities around the world.

Why?

Well, the governments, specifically the Ministry of Magic in Britain, chalked the creatures up to being magical creatures and had the memories of these creatures obliviated from the sailors' minds, so even if they were to show up, they would have no memory of what had occurred.

As time went on, it became harder and harder to obliviate the masses and in 2025, thanks to their instant worldwide appearance, it would be impossible for them to obliviate (erase the memories of) the entire world. It was becoming a possibility that their long-held Statute of Secrecy was in the process of being blown to pieces and that muggles (non-magical folk) would know of their existence.

It became even worse for them when Kanmusu started to arise.

These Kanmusu, or shipgirls to put it simply, were spirits of long dead ships from the past that had been summoned back to protect humanity from these now coined "Abyssals".

The paranoia of the magical world (which only counted for some countries) was coming onto its head and none more was it seen with Magical Britain, which had only recently come out of a war with one of the most infamously evil wizards of all time in 2018.

They saw these Kanmusu as nothing but a threat to not only their society, but the Statute of Secrecy and were golems that needed to be exterminated to uphold the long-held secrecy of their society, but unfortunately, they were what was keeping world destruction at bay, so they could only watch them in disdain.

The blood purity and corruption had run rampant through the once proud and mighty magical community, and it had certainly taken its toll.

But I digress.

In any case, this war had ended when Harry James Potter, a mere 15 months old baby, had, in the British Magical Community's eyes at least, defeated and killed the most feared dark lord in all of British magical history, Lord Voldemort, and saved it from destruction.

Either way, that's all we really need to know for now as we skip to August 29st 2030, With good old Harry in Diagon Alley.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
To say the least, Harry felt odd.
Not odd as in sick, but he felt that something was, well, off somehow.
To give more context, over the summer he had constantly felt that something was watching him. Like there was something else there, watching him. To make matters ever so slightly worse he'd been feeling a bit out of it throughout his stay at his relatives, especially when he blew up his aunt Marge.
Not that he regretted it, she deserved everything she got.
In any case, after running from home, encountering a black dog that looked like it hadn't taken a bath in years and meeting Stan Shunpike, the conductor of the Knight Bus.
Flash cut to him being roughly tossed around like a ragdoll as the magic bus twisted, turned, nearly toppled over and squeezed its way to the Leaky Cauldron (magic pub).
A quick meeting later with Minister Fudge and a rather uncomfortable sleep and we skip to Harry meeting the Weasleys and Hermione (you know when).
"Harry!" Hermione called out as she embraced him in a quick hug.
"Hey Hermione." Harry replied.
"'Ello Harry." Ron greeted, meeting the gaze of his best mate. "Nice t' see you."
"Good to see you to Ron." Harry smiled. "How was your trip to Egypt?"
"It was alrigh'. but it was mos'ly jus' Bill showin' us around the tombs." Ron responded. "Just a bunch of stuff I didn't understand."
"Oh, how was Dijon Hermione?" Harry asked, looking at the bookworm herself.
"I-it was alright I suppose." Hermione answered with a nervous smile. "How was y-yours?"
"Well, m-mostly just the same." Harry stumbled over his words slight. "I blew up my Aunt though."
Wha-You what!?!" Hermione gasped in fright.
"Yeah, she got fatter than usual and flew away." Harry added.
Hermione seemed to let out an exasperated sigh, but Ron just wheezed with laughter.
"Probably deserved it if she's anythin' like your other family." Ron grinned. "Anything with your cousin?"
"Getting so fat he has to ration his food." Harry chuckled (not giggled!), covering his mouth. "Can't catch me any more in Harry Hunting, he has his goons for that."
"With how tiny you are, he probably just can' see you." Ron teased with a smirk, causing Harry to groan.
Unfortunately, when you've been beaten and malnourished all your life along with being treated worse than a house-elf, you could guess Harry wasn't all to into the height department. Still though, he shouldn't be this short.
Hermione was 157cm tall and he had to really crane his neck to properly meet her eyes, and it was really annoying when the midget puns were used on him.
"Oh, stop it Ron!" Hermione scolded, giving him a look.
"Oh c'mon 'Mione, that was too good to pass up!" Ron retorted, but Hermione's glare never faded. "Fine, sorry 'bout that Harry."
"Yeah yeah." Harry grumbled, knowing Ron was joking. "L-let's just get some shopping done."
A/n: First chapter done! Might be a bit abrupt and looks a bit rushed so far, but I want you to know that the bits that are skipped are just like how canon is in HP. Now, I wonder why no Abyssals have been mentioned hmm? Or Kanmusu for that matter...
I wonder why.
Either Harry is/will be a summoner of Kanmasu or will turn into one. Though the title could mean instead of Kanmasu it would be Abyssals. But who knows at this point. Only the first chapter is out.
There are many where Harry is friends with Kanmasu but very few with Abyssals. Though the whole Abyssal/Kanmasu war is all because of Harry's accidental magic would be an interesting concept.
Now we wait.
The magic community probably have magic enchantments so the Abyssals can't find them.
Nice, theory, but there's some holes that I can fill without revealing too much. Kanmusu and Abyssals are (at least in my fic) mega-resistant to magic, and because of their unique make-up, they are immune to the killing curse (Kanmusu are spirits so there's no souls to rip away since it's all just soul).
As for the war being caused by Harry's accidental magic.... I wouldn't go that far.
If Harry were to either summon or turn into a Kanmusu, what do you think he would summon/turn into?
Chapter 2
A/n: Before this chapter starts, I'd like to mention that no art featured in this chapter is mine and all credit goes to their respective creators. This just shows a visual representation of scenes and images that go into the plot.
Something, Harry thought, wasn't right.
From shopping in Diagon Alley, finding out a serial killer is after you, getting attacked by a soul-sucking monster on the Hogwarts Express and then to starting school, something was up.
Not only with himself, but Hermione too.
He only noticed it when lessons started, but she always seemed skittish and slightly nervous along with just appearing randomly when Harry definitely knew she wasn't there before.
Ron hadn't noticed it, but Hermione had said that he had "the emotional range of a teaspoon", whatever that meant. She was up to something, nothing bad he hoped, but she was definitely up to something. Unfortunately, he could never get a straight answer out of his sister in all but blood, as annoying as that was.
Well anyway, now onto himself.
That feeling of being watched had only increased when he had arrived and he was beginning to feel out of it. When he went to CoMC(Care of Magical Creatures) with Hagrid as their teacher, something strange happened.
Hagrid had set them up with learning about Hippogriffs for their first lesson and, when they got close, their gaze locked onto the class, staring at them for an uncomfortable amount of time until Hagrid snapped them out of it.
After that, he got a chance to ride Buckbeak, one of the Hippogriffs, but the animal refused, darting away, staring at not only him, but from what he could see, Hermione as well.
At least Draco Malfoy the pompous brat of the Malfoy family got his arm cut....
That was fun to watch.
On to the present!
Where the young Potter found himself now was by the Black Lake, where he felt the most at home, sort of.
Whenever he had free time, aka. not doing any type of work and when he was alone, h would just go by the Black Lake and sit there, staring out into the vast lake.
"Well, at least I can relax like this." Harry sighed to himself, plucking a small stone from the grassy floor he sat on and lazily chucked it into the lake.
"You can say that again."
"Huh?" Harry spoke up as his head snapped turned to attention.
'Was that my imagination, or did someone just speak?' Harry questioned internally.
After around 5 seconds or so of silence, Harry let out a breath of relief.
"Phew, just my imagination."
"What's this about imagination? Sorry, wasn't paying attention."
'M-maybe not.' Harry thought nervously.
Having a voice in your head certainly wasn't the best indicator for top-of-the-line mental health.
'Although, considering what I've been through, I'm surprised it didn't happen sooner.' Harry thought, hoping to keep his mind off it.... terribly.
"Surprised what didn't happen?" The voice, vaguely female sounding, seemed to ask, not getting the hint.
"..." Harry couldn't think of a response right now, he was in a bit of a daze.
"Wait, Oooohhh." The seemed to realise. "Yeah, I guess you'd think that I'd be a voice in your head."
That seemed to snap Harry out of it.
"Wait, you're not?" Harry questioned suspiciously.
"Nope." The voice seemed amused as they responded.
"Prove it." Harry retorted.
"Get up."
Harry thought it a simple request, but when he looked down to move, he felt his legs lock in place.
"W-what?" Harry stuttered in shock.
"That prove it to you?"
"I-I, I d-don't-What?" Harry stammered.
"I'll take that as a yes."
And like that Harry felt his legs loosen up and actually move, immediately causing the young boy to scrambled up to his feet.
"H-how did you d-do that?" Harry stuttered in fright. "M-magic?"
"Nope." The voice replied. "Well, sort of. Don't worry about it, we aren't going to do that again."
"O-okay, thank-yo..." Harry then took in what the voice just said. "W-wait, we?"
"Ah, don't worry about it."
"I-if you say so." Harry nodded nervously. He didn't really want to make the voice mad, even if they assured him that they, whoever they were, weren't going to do it again.
It was honestly scary.
"Whelp, I got no conversation starters." The voice spoke out after a long and particularly awkward silence. "I'll talk to you later."
"Wait, what?" Harry asked aloud, but he received no answer.
"Harry!" Hermione's voice echoed, causing Harry to turn his head to the source, and approaching Hermione.
'O-oh no, did she hear that!?!' Harry thought nervously.
"Y-yeah Hermione?" Harry asked.
"I've been looking all over for you!" Hermione exclaimed as she put her hands on his shoulders. "It's nearly curfew!"
"Wait, what?" Harry questioned. "But I've only-"
He then took a proper look at the sky and found that yes, it was certainly getting dark
19:42
Harry chose not to question how he suddenly knew the exact time without a watch, instead focussing on the fact that he'd only been here for what felt like an hour, not several.
"What?" Harry muttered to himself, his eyes slightly wide. "I-I thought I'd b-been here for only an h-hour, honest!"
"*sigh*, It doesn't matter, let's just get to the dorms." Hermione sighed.
She questioned if that worry when she was frantically looking for him was what being a big sister felt like.
Harry acted like a child sometimes, but not like Ron. He never got to be a child if what she heard of those Dursleys were anything to go off of, so moments like that slipped through without him realising it.
She didn't mind it of course, she rather liked acting like a big sister after all.
Harry simply nodded, walking along with Hermione who internally questioned who Harry was talking to when she was walking (running) over.
Over by the edge of the Forbidden forest, a deadly forest with many assortments of different dangerous creatures, a lone figure stood visible, watching the two walking back to the castle.
They were watching, and was waiting.
They were patient, always vigilant.
They would get their chance.
Just you wait.
"Suspicious you say?" A voice rang out within the office, the only residents being a woman in white, sitting atop a comfy armchair and a woman in blue standing beside her. "Really? Well, keep watch and wait for you chance. If you see it, take it."
"Something wrong Admiral?" The woman questioned the man in the chair, who put the phone down with a 'click'.
"Nothing, nothing." The 'Admiral' smiled. "The agent has found something."
"This quickly?" The woman asked, her eyebrows raised in curiosity.
"Indeed." They smiled. "Prepare yourself, we might have another one on our hands."
A/n: Hoped you liked chapter 2! Seems like someone's got their eyes on young Harry here. Feel free to comment your opinions, theories and speak your mind :)
I would say either an England ship that never showed up in the Kantai Collection or Azure Lane games. Whether a Normal Battleship or a Magical Wizard Battleship.
Or an Instillation or Shipyard.
But I don't know any Ship that was ever used the male term.
Interesting fact, the Bismarck was only ever referred to as a he, just to answer that last question.
Good theories, any names in particular?
Except Bismarck is already a female character in the Kantai collection game.
As for names? no idea. I personally don't know any ship or instillation that would fit Harry.
Days past since that little fiasco, and Hermione was getting suspicious of her surrogate younger brother.
He'd been continuing to go to that spot more frequently and, while he wasn't staying as long as last time, every time she hid and eavesdropped, it sounded like he was talking to someone.
It was quite worrying to be honest because whenever she took a quick glance, no-one but him was there.
Maybe it was time she confronted him about it.
"Indeed."
"Remind me why I'm doing this?" Harry groaned as he sat on the edge of a rickety wooden peer. "I had to use my invisibility cloak to get here, so it better be worth it!"
"Trust me, it is."
"Your words don't help." Harry growled.
"Ah c'mon, Viki, all you're doin' is standing on water."
"Wha-Are you barmy?!" Harry practically shrieked. "One, my name is Harry, two, I'll sink you idiot!"
"Don't you trust me?" She gasped in mock offense. "I'm offended!"
"Oh shut up Cap." Harry grumbled.
"Think of it this way, if you sink, you can never trust me again!" She assured.
'I don't trust you anyway....' Harry thought to himself. 'But just this once...'
"F-fine." Harry sighed. "You win."
"Nice!" She exclaimed. "Get your feet on the water, barefoot."
Harry wasn't exactly sure why he needed to be barefoot, but he still obliged nonetheless as his now bare foot touched the freezing cold water.
'Wait, it's not that cold.' Harry realised. It wasn't warm in any sense of the word, but it wasn't really that cold.
Strange.
"Then all you need to do is stand up."
"If I drown I'm going to kill you." Harry threatened.
"I'll be dead either way." She chuckled.
Harry chose not to question her particular choice of words and instead thought of how he would get himself dry when this didn't work.
Still, he said he's do it, so....
With a great sigh, Harry closed his eyes, feeling the water beneath his feet and, after a brief moment of reflection, stood up.
Now, I don't think Harry needs to be reminded that h should be sinking, not standing. His eyes went rather wide when he realised this as he opened them.
"I-I'm standing!" Harry gasped. "Y-you w-were r-right C-Cap!"
"Of course I was." She chuckled smugly. "Now your gonna learn how to move."
"Wait, move?" Harry asked as he shakily stood on the water. "Really?" He whispered with excitement
"Well your mood changed fast. Best way to think of it is, well, like ice skating." She began to explain. " You put on foot in front of the-Oh crap."
"What is it?" Harry asked, trying to balance himself.
"Turn. Around."
Harry obliged, and standing on the peer eyes wide was Hermione.
"I-I-I can e-explain!" Harry stammered in fright as he saw Hermione's shocked expression. "I-I was-"
Hermione seemed to ignore his garbled words and step forward....
Onto the water.
Just like him
Standing on the water.
Just like him.
"W-what?" Harry stuttered in shock. "I-I don't, j-just what's going on?"
Not only was Hermione doing the exact same thing as he was, but she was standing with no effort, unlike him who was still standing on very shaky legs, at least until Hermione put her hands on his arms to at least stop him from falling over.
It was almost like she had practice with this.
"Harry I want you to be honest with me." Hermione began in a serious tone. "How long have you been able to do this?"
"I-I um, I-I don't-" Harry couldn't fond words for a response.
"Sit down the peer Harry and take deep breaths." Hermione exclaimed, pushing him to sit, which he did without resistance. "In, and out."
Harry then repeated this process a couple times as Hermione sat down with him, putting her hands on his shoulders as he did so.
"Are you alright to answer now?" Hermione asked, looking down to Harry, who looked up in turn.
"Y-yeah, I'm alright." Harry sighed. He was on the verge of a panic attack there, but why? "T-this is the first t-time I tried it, she said-"
"Who said?" Hermione questioned, her eyes narrowing.
"N-no-one!" Harry tried to deny.
Hermione was having non of it.
"Who Harry?" Hermione asked again, a bit more force in her tone now. "Don't lie."
"..." Harry mumbled after a moments silence.
"What was that?" Hermione asked, an eye-brow raised. "Speak up please."
"C-Cap." Harry answered shyly.
"Who's Cap?"
"Desu!" | "Me!"
Hermione and Harry's attention was snapped to his left shoulder as, to Harry and Hermione's shock, a tiny person stood.
The woman, yes she was a woman, was roughly 3 inches tall and had a strangely large head. If Harry knew any better, he would've known that this is what's called a "chibi". She wore a black uniform with navy blue jeans, a dark, ocean blue tie and wore a white hat that you would see with the stereotypical ship captain, with that anchor on it and everything. She also had some shiny black boots one, for whatever reason.
"W-wait, Cap?" Harry gasped. "I-Is that you?"
"Desu!" | "Sure is!" She smiled as she gave a thumbs up.
"T-that just confirms it then..." Hermione exclaimed breathlessly.
"C-confirms what?" Harry questioned.
"You..." She took a deep breath. "You're a Kanmusu."
"A Kanmusu?" Harry asked, looking to Hermione, then to Cap, who nodded as his head turned back go Hermione. "What's that?"
Both their eyes went wide.
"Any updates on the suspect in question?" The Admiral inquired as she took a sip of her tea, holding the telephone to her ear. "Wait, are you sure?"
Noticing the Admiral's tension, the woman in grey stood more at attention (if that was even possible for her).
"No mistaking it?" She questioned, her eyes slightly wide. " A fairy was with them? Well, that does confirm it."
After a few moments waiting the Admiral spat out their tea.
"THEY WHAT!?!" She yelled, startling the woman beside her. "Alright, I'll see what I can do. In the meantime, get them up to speed."
With that she put the phone down (more like slammed, but she won't admit it) and groaned.
"What's wrong Admiral?" The woman asked.
"Things just got more complicated Hood." The Admiral replied.
"How so?" the now identified "Hood" questioned.
"For one, our agent just confirmed that there is in fact someone in the process of being awakened." The Admiral explained. "But the problem is who the person in question is."
"Who is it?" Hood asked, curious.
"Harry bloody Potter." The Admiral sighed.
"Wait, what?" Hood gasped. "A male awakening? That should be-"
"It is." The Admiral interjected. "But it gets worse."
"How so Admiral?" She was afraid to even ask.
"They don't have a clue on what a Kamusu or Abyssal even is."
"WHAT!?!" Hood shrieked.
"My reaction exactly." The Admiral sighed. "If they don't know, then what about the others of the magical world?"
That caused no small amount of anger to build up in Hood. Why would they censor the fact that the world was under threat? The future generation needed to know what they were dealing with!
"From the look on your face, we both have the same line of thinking." The Admiral noted. "We both know how the MoM see non-human entities, or even beings that aren't specifically them, so I suggest we extract him before things get out."
"Are you sure that's wise Admiral?" Hood questioned. "Taking their saviour away?"
"That's not the problem." The Admiral sighed. "Kanmusu are generally immune to magic and protected by the law, but that doesn't apply to those in the process of awakening. What do you think they would try to do to him if they found out? That their precious saviour wasn't even human to begin with?"
After a moment's thought, it seemed like it was enough to convince her.
"I see your point Admiral." Hood sighed. "But are you certain that they can't just take him back, so to speak."
"Let me handle that." The Admiral. "Meanwhile, I believe our agent will speed up the process."
"Speed up the process?" Hood questioned.
"The process of being awakened." Th Admiral explained. "You know how you Kanmusu can see each others' ship hull, so to speak?"
Hood gave a silent nod.
"Well, when one is in the process of being awakened, that image is, in a sense, distorted, like static on a TV." She added. "Many of our girls have seen this, leading to us prematurely finding other Kanmusu."
"Interesting." Hood muttered.
"Yes, well, here comes the speeding up part." The noted. "A Kanmusu can speed up the process of an awakening with the other's permission."
"How does that work though?" Hood questioned.
"I'm not entirely sure." The Admiral mumbled, taking a quick sip of tea. "I can only theorise, but since you are magical beings in a sense, you can interact with others like you. So in the sense of awakening, it's like driving a car, but speeding it up is like activating the rockets."
"I see." Hood nodded.
"Bare in mind, it's only a theory." She expressed. "It could be entirely wrong for all I know."
"Still, it's is good to keep in mind." Hood replied as she brought out a notepad, scribbling something in it with a pen that the Admiral had no idea where the hell it came from.
"Let's get started shall we?" The Admiral smiled.
"Indeed."
They watched as he stood atop the water.
The first of many step to take.
They have been patient, and that patience has been rewarded.
More patience, more reward.
They would have to move soon, the other one has contacted the outside.
It must leave for now, to gather information, to find out where to find him next.
It might take some time, but they were patient.
They would wait until time stops, to wait for the perfect moment.
A/n: How'd you like chapter number 3? As you can guess, Harry is a Kanmusu, or, well, going to be a Kanmusu. What you didn't know (maybe), was that Hermione was a Kanmusu too!
Remember when she got nervous when Harry asked how was France? Let's just say she never went to France.
Now, any guesses as to what ship Harry might be?
Chapter 4
A/n: Before this chapter starts, I'd like to mention that no art featured in this chapter is mine and all credit goes to their respective creators. This just shows a visual representation of scenes and images that go into the plot.
"You don't know what a Kanmusu is?" Hermione wheezed in shock; her eyes wide.
"Desu!?" | "EH!?"
"N-no, should I?" Harry asked nervously.
"Wait, you at least know what A-Abyssals are, right?" Hermione responded with another question.
"N-no?" Harry replied.
If Hermione's face could get any paler, it would have in that moment.
Cap seemed clueless about that particular subject too.
"H-how can you not Harry?!" She asked, her voice raised slightly. "They're trying to take over the world!"
"DESU!?!" | "WHAT THE HECK!?!" Cap yelled in shock
"..." Harry didn't need to/couldn't find the words to describe how he felt right now.
Pure and unadulterated shock would be an understatement of the highest calibre.
"Desu?" | "Hey, you alright? Why are-And he's fainted."
"Great." Hermione groaned. "I need to make a call."
With that said she pulled out a modern looking phone from her pocket and, after a couple(dozen) times of pressing the screen, she placed it to her her as it began to buzz in set intervals.
"C'mon, please pick up." Hermione mumbled.
"Hello, this is Admiral Garrison." A voice then popped out of the phone.
"Admiral, it's me."
"Oh, hey Hermione." The Admiral's voice seemed less stern and official as it was before. "Any updates on the suspect in question?"
"Yes Admiral, but it's not good." Hermione answered. "I've confirmed that it's Harry."
"Wait, are you sure?"
"There's a definite distortion around Harry now Admiral." Hermione explained. "He stood on the water as well."
"There's no mistaking it?"
"No Admiral, he's even got a fairy." Hermione added.
" A fairy was with them? Well, that does confirm it."
"T-there's something else Admiral." Hermione exclaimed.
The silence that ensued prompted Hermione to continue.
"Harry has no knowledge of Kanmusu or Abyssals Admiral." Hermione reported.
"THEY WHAT!?!"
Hermione recoiled at the volume, but was careful not to disturb the still unconscious Harry and the fairy captain standing atop his other shoulder.
After a few moments of silence, the Admiral Garrison spoke up again.
"Alright, I'll see what I can do. In the meantime, get them up to speed."
With that the phone hung up, simple as that.
Hermione took a moment to compose herself before looking to Cap.
"How far is he to awakening?" Hermione asked the fairy.
"Desu, Desu Desu." | "If you add a little touch of speed to it, then it should be done by 2:30 at the latest."
"That might not be enough time." Hermione noted, biting her thumb.
"Desu?" | "Why not?"
"He could look drastically different to what he looks like now." Hermione explained. "If he started awakening a while ago, then it might explain why he hasn't exactly grown at all."
"Desu." | "Hey."
Hermione seemed to snap out of it as she looked at Cap. "Yes?"
"Desu Desu?" "Who are you anyway? The ship you."
"The memories haven't fully come through yet, but I am the HMS Hermione." Hermione smiled. "Convenient, isn't it?"
It was at that point that Hermione felt Harry begin to move in her gently grip as his eyes slowly began to opn to meet the gaze of Hermione.
"Hermione?" Harry yawned. "I had this crazy dream..."
"Desu." | "You didn't faint."
Harry's head snapped to Cap as his eyes widened.
"Wha-"
"Desu, Desu Desu Desu." | "You're turning into a ship, Hermione's a ship, evil things are trying to take over the world and yes, I'm real."
"Oh, okay."
Hermione's eyes just widened at how easily Harry had just taken that in. When she explained it, he just fainted but when Cap did it, Harry just took it in like a sponge!
"Desu Desu." | "Just roll with it, the shock will wear off eventually."
'Ah, that's the reason.' Hermione thought to herself with understanding.
"H-Hermione?" Harry asked, a slight daze. "A-am I a f-freak?"
"What?" Hermione gasped. "No, of course not! Why would you think that?"
"I-it's just that, well...." Harry paused for a moment. "T-the Dursleys always s-said t-that I wasn't n-normal, a f-freak of n-nature, s-something unnatural. I-I f-feel l-like t-this is p-proving them r-right."
"Oh no Harry don't think that..." Hermione soothed as she embraced Harry into a hug. If she had any less restraint, then she might've pointed out that his statement implies that she was a freak, but she was smart enough to know that he didn't mean it like that and she didn't want him to be in tears at how he essentially insulted his friend.
Instead, she just hugged him.
"You're going to be okay Harry, it's all going to be fine." Hermione consoled. "I've got to ask you an important question okay."
"Y-yes?" Harry replied as he looked up to her, his eyes slightly red and his cheeks a bit puffy.
"When, err, Cap here..." She motioned to Cap who was now sat on Harry's shoulder, patting it with her tiny hand. "Talked about awakening, she said that if I speed it up, you'll fully turn by tomorrow."
"O-okay?" Harry nodded; a bit confused.
"I'm asking if you'd rather be it tomorrow, or wait for it to slowly turn you." Hermione asked. "I can only speed it up with your permission Harry, so it's your choice."
Harry thought to himself. He couldn't stop it, so why drag it out? People might find out and call him a freak!
"Harry you are not a freak, okay?" Hermione called out suddenly.
"Did I say that out loud?" Harry asked embarrassedly.
"Desu." | "Yup." Cap finally spoke up.
"S-sorry." Harry mumbled.
"It's alright Harry." Hermione smiled. "Take all the time you need."
It took a minute or two of contemplation, but after that Harry finally had his answer.
"I, I-I think I'd like to speed it up." Harry eventually responded.
"Alright." Hermione nodded. "Now, I want you to close your eyes please."
Harry complied with her request and closed his eyes as Hermione place her palm onto the centre of Harry's chest.
'I hope this works.' Hermione hoped internally as she let the crew inside of her do the work.
On Harry's side, after his eyes closed, he didn't feel anything for the first few seconds. He was beginning to wonder if it had worked at all, but a warm sensation ran across his chest and throughout his body, with a sense of drowsiness setting in as Harry opened his eyes to blurry vision.
"Harry?" Hermione's blurred voice called out.
Harry looked to her for a moment but he was in too much of a daze to pay attention to what was going on right now.
He could vaguely feel Hermione guide him back to the castle as a weird sensation entered his neck before fading away.
The last thing he remembered was the soft, comforting sheet of his beds as he finally fell unconscious.
When Hermione knew that all her roommates had drifted off to dreamland, she sighed, thinking of her surrogate little brother, Harry.
Harry was a Kanmusu, someone like her.
When she realised that she was one of them, she was just as shocked as Harry was. She had actually run into a Kanmusu as she was awakening, so she found out pretty quickly that she was becoming a shipgirl (another word for Kanmusu).
When she finally fully awoke, everything changed.
Her heart changed to boilers, her skin and bone changed to steel, her head the bridge and her feet her rudders. she didn't feel human any more, which terrified her. She could no long hear her heart beating, but her boilers turning and making steam to power her.
She was the HMS Hermione, a 137-year-old ship. The name was ironic, considering her own name, but she was only 13, not 137. Memories of her ship life began pouring into her bit by bit and the images of war practically scarred her, wracking her with nightmares every night.
It was only through the efforts of the Kanmusu and Admiral Garrison that she could get through it, if only slightly. The memories were still seeping in, but she was better prepared to handle them.
Harry however, wasn't.
Harry, god bless him, had already been through so much. He'd lost his parents to a mad killer, grew up in a household that treated him like a slave(something she was definitely going to mention to Admiral Garrison in private), was thrust into a world he had been told hadn't existed, was completely oblivious to a World War at sea, killed a professor (even if it was Voldemort possessing him), almost died getting ran over by a train, almost crushed by a sentient tree, almost eaten by a colony of giant spiders, dealt with the discrimination of being the next 'Dark Lord', watched his friend (her) get petrified, went down into a hidden chamber fought and killed a Basilisk with nothing but a sword, was injected with its venom before being healed by a phoenix, but not after killing the memory of Voldemort that possessed his friend's sister and slowly killing her in the process, then getting attacked by soul-sucking monstrosities and to top it all off, this.
She might have missed something, but this was already too much to begin with. This was something no child should put up with (even though she herself was a child but she was pretty sure that was her ship side talking)!
Now he was being turned into something completely different and was about to b bombarded with memories not his own, and god knows what memories they might be.
She needed to be there for him, no matter what.
It was about that time when a ringing could be heard by her bedside as she looked to her phone. Only one person can phone her through this phone, it's the only number she has (totally intentional).
This was Admiral Garrison calling.
She quickly grabbed the phone and, after pressing a few buttons, called, "Admiral Garrison?"
"Yes, it's me." Admiral Garrison responded. "Thanks to some connections I can be there by tomorrow."
That lead Hermione to breathe a sigh of relief.
"When?" Hermione asked.
"What time is appropriate?" Admiral Garrison questioned.
"3:00AM." Hermione replied.
"Wait, three in the morning?" She asked suspiciously. "Are you serious?"
"Yes Admiral." Hermione responded. " I've managed to speed up Harry's awakening and the process will be done by 2:30, but I just don't know what kind of physical changes will occur."
"I understand your point, but you understand that you would have to sneak out of that school to get to us, right?" The Admiral pointed out.
"Don't worry Admiral, me and Harry have a way." Hermione smiled. "He has an invisibility cloak that we can use to sneak out."
"Hmm, interesting." Garrison hummed. "Alright, I'll have the coordinates put onto your phone so you'll know where to go for extraction."
"Thank you, Admiral." Hermione, well, thanked.
"No worries." The Admiral replied. "I'll see you at the base."
With that the Admiral hung up.
Hermione placed the phone back into it's previous position as she lay back onto her bed.
All she had to do now, was wait.
As 2:30 almost approached, when Harry was still fast asleep, the physical changes were complete.
His hair now green down to shoulder length while staying it's same, untameable self. The tips of his hair were now a bright red and his features seemed smoother, more child-like and feminine. If his eyes were open, his left eyes would be a bright red instead of emerald green.
A/n: That's chapter 4 done and dusted! Let's see how Harry will react to his changes in the next chapter, shall we? Are we any closer to figuring it out by any chance :)
Just a quick thing to mention, the reason that Hermione can use a phone is because of what she is; A Kanmusu. I explained as I did to OSRFanatic0, Kanmusu are super-resistant to magic, and thanks to their unique make-up, they're able to use technology despite being magical beings themselves. Thanks to this resistant effect, it carries on to what they use, so if a human were to use that phone, it word short-circuit, but because it's specifically a Kanmusu using it, it works thanks to her resistance cancelling out the effect.
It was peaceful.
Birds and seagulls chirped as they lay anchored off of the Island.
Another day, another haul, as they say.
Still though, no matter how peaceful it was, it was strangely quiet.
Quieter than usual.
Other than the small birds that flew by, there was no noise.
No waves, no wind, no nothing.
They wanted to question more, but a noise cut it off.
It was a quiet constant whistle. It was soft, very much so, but as time grew on it grew louder and louder until-
BANG!!
Harry groaned as he felt himself be shook awake.
He was tired, incredibly so. His body felt numb and he could feel a humming course through his chest.
"Harry?" Hermione's blurred voice called out. "Please, wake up."
"H-huh?" Harry groaned as his eyes creaked open further to find the blurred image of Hermione. "H-Hermione?"
"It's me Harry." Hermione nodded. "It's time."
"I-is it 2:30 already?" Harry asked, struggling to lift himself up.
"We could use your invisibility cloak. Hermione added."
"O-oh, let me..." Harry fumbled under his pillow and grabbed the soft silk underneath, pulling it out to reveal his invisibility cloak. "Here it is."
"Come on, let's go." Hermione whispered as they looked over to the sleeping form of Harry's roommates, Ron included. "Before they wake up."
Harry nodded and turned to stand, but only ended up falling.
"C-can't walk." Harry stuttered, holding back a yawn.
He heard Hermione mumble something under her breath, but he couldn't make out what it was as Hermione put his arm around her shoulders as she pulled him up, invisibility cloak in hand.
"Thanks H-Hermione." Harry thanked, stifling another yawn.
Hermione smiled as she pulled over the cloak and began the long haul to get down the stairs.
Harry felt tempted to doze off then and there, but that wouldn't be fair to Hermione, so resisted the temptation and pressed on.
Soon they were in the common room and came to the first obstacle; The Fat Lady. She could report that somebody was had gone out and they'd have a much harder time escaping.
'Still though, it's a risk that needs to be taken.' Hermione groaned internally.
Hermione didn't like taking risks, but getting out was a massive task with way too many risks involved, but Harry needed help, so she would take all of them if she had to.
The portrait slowly creaked open and, to her surprise, she found the Fate snoring to her hearts content. Quickly glancing to the other portraits, she noticed the same.
Good, phase 1 is complete. Now onto phase 2; escape the halls.
This would be the most difficult to achieve, since teachers could be prowling the halls, Mrs. Norris could sniff them out or the portraits could notice that something wasn't quite right.
Sneaking through Hogwarts with a barely awake person, having to constantly keep a cloak around yourself and make as little noise as possible was agonisingly slow. She'd managed to wake.
She found it much simpler when she carefully put Harry into a piggyback, a much easier time to be sure. After those tricky stairs, a close encounter with Snape who just barely didn't notice them/run into them and avoiding some more teachers, she was finally getting closer to escape, until....
"Oh, ickle students out of bed, eh?" Peeves cheeky voice echoed softly as he pulled of the invisibility cloak, luckily with no portraits around. "Maybe the teachers should know..."
"Peeves, I'll only say this once..." Hermione breathed.
"Oh, threatening little ol' Peeves?" The poltergeist. "What can you-"
"Don't." Hermione interjected, with an overwhelming pressure that Peeves recognised
Fair to say he shut his trap and ran/disappeared.
Hermione plucked the invisibility cloak from the ground and placed it around the once more.
"Are you still awake Harry?" Hermione asked as he nudged Harry.
"Wh-what?" Harry stuttered. "Y-yeah, totally."
'Sure you were.' Hermione thought, rolling her eyes silently as she continued onward.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

There wasn't much else to say after that, it all went smoothly from there onwards until Hermione came to the Black Lake.

Hermione could pass the Lake much faster than she would by walking, but the trail she left could be spotted, not hidden by the invisibility cloak.

Also, she wasn't sure how heavy Harry was, which was a problem. If he could suppress his weight/displacement, it wouldn't be, but she knew Harry had no clue how to do that, so she was taking a risk by doing it. It was 2:46 though, and she had a deadline.

She would need to sacrifice a bit of caution with speed.

"Harry?"

"Y's 'Mione." Harry slurred tiredly.

"Could you do something for me?" Hermione whispered into Harry's ear as his head rest on her shoulder.

"W-what?" Harry asked.

"Can you think of suppressing your weight?" As she thought, this very much confused the young teen

"Huh?"

"Just think about it, okay." Hermione exclaimed. "Can you do that?"

Harry nodded as his thoughts focusing inwards, thinking of suppressing his weight... whatever that meant.

Hermione smiled as she looked to the calm waters and put one foot forth, and onto the water.

With that, she seemed to push of and skate off of the water, accelerating quickly as a trail could be seen behind her, escaping the cloaks protective grasp.

With her 18-knot speed she was easily able to cross the half a mile diameter of the Black Lake in around a minute and a half, nearly 90 seconds.

If one were to look on from an outside view it would look like a trail of displaced water was rapidly etching itself into and across the surface of the lake until it made landfall at the other side, by the Forbidden Forest.

With what she was now, it wasn't as scary as it was in first year in Hermione's opinion.

Maybe that's due to her being a 4000-tonne mar machine that could level the entire forest with ease (and enough time) with nothing able to even remotely come close to harming her.

She made that point clear when some Acromantula got a bit too close by stomping on the ground. The scattered like the scared children they literally were when a large crater formed underneath.

Babies, she didn't stomp that hard.

In any case, cut to Hermione being out of the forest as her destination was drawing closer.

Just outside of Hogsmeade, to the west, was a heavily armoured Boeing Chinook parked in a flat area where two people stood waiting.

'2:58, just on time.' Hermione thought as she finally took of the invisibility cloak to meet the two beings waiting by the helicopter.

They were both people she recognised; her sisters!

Well, human sisters, her ship sisters; Astraea and Flora.

Both looked almost identical to her, but with a few key differences.

Astraea's hair was tucked into twin-tails and Flora's was longer and more untamed, heading down to her thighs instead of Hermione's.

Both wore what could be considered a female ww2 sailor's uniform, as instead of pants they were very short skirts and navy-blue tights to fit the colour of the highlights of the rest of the clothing. The top half was sleeveless along with their stomachs being out there for the world to the see.

Much to her embarrassment, that was what she wore too, but her skirt was longer and her top went all the way down (she had some modesty, unlike her sisters).

"Azzie look, it's lil' sis!" Flora squealed with glee, clutching the arm of her sister.

"It sure is." Astraea giggled.

As Hermione got closer, she put her left index finger to her lips quickly and motioned to Harry, who was by now fast asleep.

Seems that his awakening took a lot out of him.

"Oh, are they asleep?" Flora whispered.

"It would seem so." Astraea whispered back as Hermione finally got to them.

"How are you?" Hermione greeted with a smile.

"Couldn't even go a month without something happening?" Flora teased.

"Oh, hardy harr, let's just get going." Hermione grumbled. "H-how long are we in the helicopter?"

"We're flying to a base where we can get back through a truck transport." Astraea answered. "As much s I hate flying, it is necessary."

"Oh, thank goodness." Hermione breathed a sigh of relief.

She did not like flying.

She didn't like it before she awakened, and she certainly didn't like it after.

Ships don't fly, they stay on the water.

"Let's just get going." Hermione sighed, strolling into the back of the open chinook and placing Harry's head comfortably on her lap as his body laid on the empty seats, with the inside of the cloak acting as a blanket.

"Let's just get the flying over with and get to the ground as fast as possible." Hermione mumbled as she stroked Harry's hair.

A/n: Chapter 5 complete! We get to see some of Hermione's ship sisters and get a glimpse at how scary an angry 4000 tonne war machine is. Peeves is a spirit (Poltergeist technically), ad so are Kanmusu. They may be given physical forms, but they are still spirits and can interact/harm spiritual entities.

Either way, this might be your last chance to call what Harry may be, just to warn you!

Not a clue what Harry might be, though given just how much of a magical powerhouse he is (he drove away over a hundred dementors with a single patronus), it would probably have to be something with a lot of firepower.
Also, maybe a magical ship (maybe one that can fly, given Harry's great love of flying) or an airship? Definitely something fast, given his absurd reflexes. Seriously, the guy must have superhuman reflexes to fly like he does and track and catch a small golden ball flying at high speeds. Also, since Hermione can still use magic, is Harry still as much of a magical Titan following his transformation?

I can answer that last question of yours. Yes, Harry can still use magic. Any Kanmusu can technically use magic, since they are themselves magical, so even if Harry or Hermione didn't have magic, they would upon awakening.

Does Harry still like flying? Because, that would affect what types of ship he could be. As far as I know only carriers like flying so that would narrow the choices down considerably.
