There have been strange sightings and encounters with strange creatures, apparently all over the world, that usually end in a bloodbath and more questions. The general public has only heard rumors, but the American Government isn't simply going to sit by and do nothing when dozens have died all across the country. You are an elite soldier, specifically selected to be a member of a fast response force to engage this problem. There was supposed to be a training program, but only two days after you arrived on base there has been another incident in an office building in Virginia. You were immediately mobilized, and now you're in a MH-60 only minutes out from the landing zone. You are...

[] The team's point man, cradling a shotgun as he dozes. (Shotgun, +reaction time, -armour penetration)
[] The team medic, checking his weapon for the third time. (Battle Rifle, +Medical Skills, - combat skills)
[] The team's executive officer, peering out into the darkness towards your destination. (Battle Rifle, +Rank, + Leadership, - growth potential)
[] The team's designated marksman, joking with your teammates. (Anti-Material Rifle, +Damage, +Accuracy, -reaction time)
[] The team's engineer, discussing entry points with the team's leader as he loads his grenade launcher. (Grenade Launcher, Variable Ammo, but AOE)
[] The team's weapon's officer, quietly reading as he balances his light machine gun on his lap. (Light Machine Gun, +Damage, suppression fire mode, -reaction time)
[] Just an average grunt. (Battle Rifle. Average skills, +growth potential)

You are Sgt. Jacob Brown, and you are a relative newcomer to the team. You were a replacement for the team's senior designated marksman, but you had only been assigned a week ago. Fresh out of one of the most rigorous training programs in the world, you were one of the best soldiers America could produce and despite that you were still the FNG.

That was fair, you allowed, since you hadn't even been on a training OP with the team yet when the team had been assigned this mission. What really got you was that unlike Sgt. Turner who had been assigned a Baretta 82, you had been handed the Mk 14 that everyone was getting. Not that you particularly wanted the overpowered monster that Turner was lugging around, but it was the fact they didn't trust you to do your job.

That was when you caught sight of your landing zone from the helicopter.

"Hey, New Guy!" Staff Sgt. Miller called over to you, "Stay Frosty!"

You just shook your head. He was just messing with you again, always spouting off lines like he was from a bad 80s movie.

The helicopter touches down, and your team moves quickly towards the office building, while two other teams peel off to form a perimeter. It forms a misshapen L, with the main entrance at the top, and an secondary entrance on the side near where the center of the building, in full view of both wings of offices. Your team splits off into two, with half going to the main entrance. You follow behind your Captain as you take cover in view of the secondary entrance; the more exposed entrance.

The seconds become long as everyone looks through sights for any sign of movement within the building. You don't see anything, but remain tense, ready to respond. Most of the lights in the building were off, and no one knew what was causing these incidents. You can see the abandoned van left behind by the night janitors, as well as the cop car that had responded to their panicked 911 call. The cop hadn't even made a call.

Confident that there was no immediate danger and that the perimeter team was set up to cover you, your Captain signaled you all to move forward, towards the entrance.

[] Push ahead. The less time spent in open ground, the better you'll feel.
[] Stay with the group. There is safety in numbers.
[] Hang back. You want to watch those windows...

AN: It's Monday, and that means it's time for more questing!

You hang back, worried about all those windows. It would be all too easy to catch you out of cover out here. You concentrate on trying to spot any sudden movement, while the rest of your team hurries on ahead.

Perception Roll [Target 30]: 90=Major Failure
Stealth Roll [Target 80] 3=Major Success

You were so focused on keeping an eye out you are caught unprepared by the pothole you step into. You go down hard, and let out an "oof" as the wind gets knocked out of you. This causes your team to look back just as they reach the building.

Unfortunately.

As you push yourself up from the ground, you see a massive arm reach out of an open window. You try to shout a warning, but you are still winded. All you can do is watch as the arm hammers into the back of Sgt. Price's head. He lands bonelessly, as the rest of your team whirls around, weapons at the ready.

Whatever had hit him had already retreated back into the building.

You force yourself up, and catch up to the rest of the team. Miller is checking over Price, but he takes a moment to glare at you. You wonder for a moment why Miller is the one giving him first aid, before you remember that Price is your medic.

"Man down. No visual contact. I repeat, still no visual contact," the Captain said, breaking radio silence. Whatever it was, it already knew you were here, so there was no point in trying to sneak in.

"We're going in loud," the Captain continues, both over the radio, and to all of you. You all burst into motion, like a well-oiled machine. Within moments, the Captain kicks in the door, and you quickly enter the building.

The first room is the bottom of a stairwell leading to the second floor. The Captain motions for you to stay and watch for anything coming down, before heading through the door that leads to the offices. You hunker down in a corner where you can keep an eye on the stairwell, the door to the offices, and the door outside, through which you can see Sgt. Price's wounded form.

Where do you focus most of your attention?
[] Outside. The thing might circle behind outside...and you don't want anything else to happen to Sgt. Price....
[] The Stairs. The team is relying on you...though it attacked through a first floor window...
[] The door leading to the offices. You know your team just went this way....but you have a bad feeling about this...

You focus on the stairs, trusting your team and the teams outside to take care of the offices and anything exiting the building, respectively. Several long moments pass, as you feel your breathing even out.

Moments later fresh adrenaline is shooting through your veins as you hear the sounds of gunshots. Multiple rifles being unloaded on full auto. The gunshots peter out as clips run dry after only a second or two, but the staccato sounds of alternate weapons continue for a few moment longer before they too fall silent.

"Report! Who's made contact?" the voice of the captain crackles over your radio, but the only answer is the muffled sound of an explosion followed by an inhuman scream. What was that?!

"Report!" the Captain repeats, as you keep watch on the stairs, your heart pounding. The building has become eerily silent. Was that the team at the other entrance? What had happened...

Your thoughts are interrupted by the appearance of a grotesque four legged creature on the landing above you. A viscous black ichor streaks its fur as it pours from a dozen bleeding wounds over its body as it stares at you, two rings of dark fur surrounding it's glowing yellow eyes. Your eyes dart down to it's large, clawed arms, and you don't miss the fact that it was the same as what had reached out the window, or the all too human blood coating its paws. You hadn't heard the door above move, how had it-

Never mind, you need to make a decision fast!

Pick Two Actions. Will be Taken in the order picked.
[] Fire
-[] Your rifle
--[] Single Aimed Shot
--[] Full Auto
-[] Your pistol
[] Throw a grenade
[] Fall Back
-[] Outside
-[] To the offices
[] Radio the Captain
[] Stay still and quiet...

AN:
I'll be generous and give y'all a link to the rolz room. In summary? Things are not going well...

It was probably good that y'all decided to concentrate on the stairs.

Start of Today's rolls
