The Allmaker has finished their newest creation: the universe. With the universe comes planets filled with life. With new species inhabiting the new worlds, the Gods have come to forge wonders that (hopefully) last for eons. Can you guide your people to greatness, or will they become the footnotes in the legend of another civilization?
The Story Begins (Chapter 1, Part 1, Post 1)

Shape Shifting Master of Hiatus
Location
The Land of Retconnia
With one final blow from their hammer, creation was complete.

It had taken eons, but the realm was no longer just a blackened abyss.

The spine of the universe had been shattered and turned into concepts of time, space, light, and many more. The fires of creation burn bright in the eternally shining stars.

But most importantly are the worlds that exist throughout the now colorful expanse. These worlds are home to the mortals, home to life that comes in all shapes and sizes, life that will build wonders and commit atrocities.

With a smile on their primeval face, the allmaker rang their little bell and summoned their many offspring.

The gods gathered to view the newest creation of their progenitor. Amazed, they were most eager to go down to the world and receive worship.

And receive worship they shall.

For now, the Age of Gods has begun.

---------------------------------------------------

You all are one of the many pantheons of a world without a name.

Among its myriad of creatures, you all chose to make one of them your chosen flock.

Your chosen people would be…

[ ] Giants
[ ] Tigers
[ ] Skeletons
[ ] Merfolk
[ ] Centaur
[ ] Write-In

Though they all shall be your flock, one among them shall be your herald.

From among them, you chose a….to lead them and to speak for you.

[ ] warrior
[ ] scholar
[ ] diplomat
[ ] craftsman
[ ] farmer
[ ] pathfinder
[ ] Write-In

This herald bears a boon from you all. A blessing that will aid them in carrying out your will.

You blessed them with…

[ ] Magic: The Herald has been granted the power to channel the primeval force of magic. Though as a mortal, they may only call upon the most simplistic form of it.

[ ] Enlightenment: The Herald has been granted the power to channel the essence of the world. Though as a mortal, it will be long before they can even grasp the basics of celestial combat.

[ ] Divine Smithing: The Herald has been granted the power to craft the mystical metals. In time, they will craft great artifacts to serve your will.

[ ] Unnatural Health: The Herald has been granted great health. They are more resilient to illness, and recover from wounds faster than others.

[ ] Omniscience: The Herald has been granted a mortal form of omniscience. He is not all-knowing like the great allmaker, but he finds himself a quick student in all fields of life.

[ ] Write-In

When you delivered the blessing, you decreed to the Herald something.

What did you say to the herald when they were chosen?

[ ] Write-In (Write whatever you want, this will not be counted as I will choose the most interesting suggestions and use them in my next post)

And finally, to what land did you lead the Herald?

[ ] To a land of golden dunes.

[ ] To a land beneath the roaring waves.

[ ] To a land where the trees reached the heavens.

[ ] To a land of emerald fields..

[ ] Write-In

I!

HAVE!

RETURNED!

That's right, I live!

And to get back into the groove of things on this site, I'm starting with a god quest! A quest where SV (you all) take the roles of Gods and Goddesses that seek to guide a nation to greatness.

This quest is heavily inspired by @Golum936 and his Cheating Hero, Civilizations and Gods Quest.

Feedback is always appreciated.

Thankfully things should go well since I have experience from my previous 2 attempts at this.

The Divine Concordant (Mechanics)
Note that this quest will be heavily narrative focused with little mechanics. The main mechanic that needs to be known is Dominion. Dominion is essentially how much power you all have, or to be more exact, how much divine authority you have over the world. Dominion is used to enact great changes such as empowering heroes, discovering new technology, establishing a new type of magic, giving people the ability to fly, making an area permanently fertile, etc.

Dominion is gained whenever I update the quest. Whenever the quest is updated, all participating voters at that time (everyone who voted) gets 1 dominion. Additional dominion can be gained by either having your vote plan win or by making an omake that I approve of.

The Cost of Dominion spends works like this:
(Scale + Resistance) x Probability

Scale:
  • Village: Cost 1
  • City: Cost 2
  • Region: Cost 4
  • Nation: Cost 8
  • Realm: Cost 16
Probability:
  • Plausible: x1
  • Improbable: x2
  • Impossible: x4
Resistance:
  • Minor Supernatural: +1
  • Normal Supernatural: +2
  • Major Supernatural: +4
  • Minor/Lesser Gods: +6
  • Major Gods: +8
Special Rules:
  • Especially crazy ideas will warrant either a probability cost of 8, or warrant additional objects/achievements/knowledge be gathered before it can be done.

Dominion Usage:
@BurningLaugh
[X] I want to (insert what you would like to spend your dominion on) (Amount you would like to spend)

If you need to spend more or are spending too much then I will inform you.

It is probably best to explain how the probability scores are determined.

A plausible change is something that does not require violating the laws of nature or angering the local powers. If you can look at something and go...yeah I can see that...then it is plausible. Some examples are discovering new resources that might possibly be found, Teaching people common skills up to an adequate level of proficiency, banishing a harmful social custom that doesn't underpin local society, performing enchantments in a society where magic is widely practiced, etc.

An implausible change is something that requires bending the rules of nature or human behavior. An implausible change is something that could happen, but requires specific events or developments to occur first. Examples are training a bunch of peasants into knights, establishing an industry that no one has skills in, banishing a long held grudge or custom, etc.

An impossible change is something that requires active breaking of nature or human nature. An impossible change is something that could not happen without years of preparation or divine intervention. Examples would be turning pacifist into a warmongering spartan empire, creating a new magical industry that produces enchanted or insanely advanced goods, creating new beings, etc. Impossible changes might require something be done before I allow the impossible change. If one wanted to create a rift between the world and heaven then I would probably require them to get magic established or build pylons that weakened the barrier between them. If one wanted to create a new race then I would require them to get materials...such as people to turn into the new race. If someone wanted to give magic then boom done, but to teach everyone magic would require a teacher or tradition be establish first.

As stated above, anything truly crazy will warrant a modifier of x8. Though this is rare, it will occur if you guys are trying to like...make more Heralds or demi-gods or introduce modern tanks to this stone age world, etc.

A lot of this is gotten from Godbound to help me provide some guidance and clear boundaries, but the quest mechanics are still largely arbitrary when it comes to me deciding what multiplier I should give.

The First Year (Chapter 1: Spring 1, Post 2)
It was an uneventful time when the Herald of the Gods was chosen.

There was no grand display of power nor any noticeable changes. The Herald was, as far as anyone was concerned, the same Centaur they had always been.

Only the Gods above and the Herald themselves knew the truth. On an uneventful day, a day like any other, the Herald was enlightened by the Gods and could sense what they sensed. The lifeblood of the world, the energies of creation, was now known to the Herald. They could feel it and channel it.

Many days would pass. In seclusion would the Herald practice and meditate on their newfound abilities.

None were aware of it till the day the Herald split the sea.

While exploring the land for greener pasture, the Herald had gone further than any other pathfinder.

The Herald traveled for days with their companions, and though they desired to turn back, the Herald pushed them on.

When questioned, the Herald responded with the decree of the Gods, "The world has only just been created. The horizons have yet to be seen. The people still disparate and separated. We shall be the ones to rectify this. Go forth. Discover the world. Learn of its wonders, its terrors, its people. Then, return and bring with us tales of the unknown and the wondrous. So that others may come after us."

The companions thought them mad, but they refused to abandon one of their own, so they followed the Herald.

They crossed forests and hilly lands; they crossed rivers and dried-out lands. They traveled till they came along a restless river, a river larger than any they had seen and far wilder. A river they could not pass.

It was here that the Herald revealed their power, for with movements strange for the Centaur people did they split the river and create a passage to the land beyond.

The movements were clunky, and the split did not last long, but it was enough to ensure the pathfinders could reach the beyond land and return.

And return they did, with news of what they found and what they witnessed.

With news of their deed spreading, the Herald quickly rallied the people to their banner.

It was a long journey, but they eventually arrived at the emerald fields promised by the Gods. The people all bore witness to the Herald's great deed.

It was a time of celebration, for the Herald had led them all to greener pastures. They had led the Centaurs well and they had performed a great miracle.

It was not long till all the Centaurs began worshiping the Gods professed by the Herald.

But how did they worship the Gods?

[ ] The people built shrines and scattered them throughout the plains.

[ ] The people gathered together for prayer and meditation.

[ ] They sacrificed the lifeblood of one of their own, a most sacred honor.

[ ] They offered up all they had in the form of tribute; some went beyond.

[ ] They beat the drums of war and hunted those that refused to believe.

Process
G.O.F Pov
Well, looks like my plans for a soley fighting race is a bust. Not one to hold me down though. Just got to create them myself. Still can't believe the nerve of that one god that thought it was a good idea to try and steal MY idea.

How dare he 😤. Hmph! Ah, my quarters. Hopefully, a nice nap and some good food will quell this slight bit of anger and resentment I'm feeling. Can't go causing fights in this pantheon just cause of this slight...slight? Yeah, slight. *Inhale* *Exhale* Breath, me. Just call the servant to bring the meal and during that create what you want to create.

*Ring-a-ling, Ring-a-ling* "You called Sir?" The servant arrives with a poof. He/She/It isn't actually a person. Just a creation to better serve the Gods. Quick and Efficient they are. Now if only they can instantly make food appear. *Sigh* Still, Perks of Divinity, I guess. "Yes, can I get the Feast Special for one" I say.

I was never one for overwhelming theatrics such as Booming Voices, Tall Great Statures(I myself, am a proud 5'9), or stuff like that. Just a simple ask. "At once sir." It heads out with purpose.

Now, time to get into the creation process. I head over to my Table of Creation. Lets see, what was the recipe I went with again. Grab a human, add a monkey tail. Give characteristically savage spiky hair. Eyes as black night.

Add in a a spoon of the Sin of Wrath, a spoon of the Sin of Pride, spoon of Gluttony, slight drop of Envy, drop of Greed, drop of Sloth, drop of Lust. Surprisingly, the seven sins can describe a being well. Well onto the Virtues.

Dash of Chastity, Dash of Temperance, Dash of Charity, Spoon of Diligence, Dash of Kindness, Drop of Patience, and Drop of Humility.

Add in Aggression, A Capacity of all things Martial, Strength Hierarchy. Am I missing anything? Oh yeah, that rage thing. Overwhelming Rage given to Herald.

Am I done? Sweet. Now just to throw it into a place in the world and watch the monkeys evolve into...into...I can't believe I forgot!?!? A name! Hmm? Monkey Men? No too obvious. Saiyans? Copyrighted sadly. Tapping my chin, how about the Monkai? Yeah, that's a good name. Forever forth you all are the Monkai.

Now, place. The most dangerous place. Where Great Warriors Will and Shall either rise or fall. Ah. There. The lands dotted with Great Beasts and Peril. Monkai placed.

Now I'm done. "Sir" The servant raised his voice. He must have been standing there for quite some time. "Yes, servant? Where is my meal?" I asked as I turned around to a clearly empty handed servant.

"Sir, on my way back a God stopped me and...ate all the food." The servant looked ashamed. *Inhale**Exhale* "What did he look like?" I asked. The servant projected the image through it's eyes. It's the god that tried taking my idea.

-Outside the building-
"I'LL KILL HIM!!!!!!!!!" I ROARED.

P/N:This good? I felt hesitant with certain decisions. Like the Servant Creation, Not making food magically appear, The Virtues and Sins, and The Name for the race. Tell me what you guys think.

A Gift from the Allmaker, The End of a Tale
"When the gods told us to leave our humble forests, we obeyed with fanatical devotion. We abandoned all of our belongings and immediately set forth towards the warm summer sands. People would question our decision, but the lands of stars had not been a kind home. We were barely surviving, so following our Exalted, blessed she be, to the sungraced lands was an easy choice.

The migration was slow but illuminating, for many great things were discovered, many great wonders seen. We saw strange pillars that held up the world; we discovered strange structures that were covered with plants and vines; we witnessed fascinating creatures that roamed the gods' world just like us. Still, none of it compared to the Exalted, blessed she be, for she was a gift from the gods themselves. What could compete with someone that could control the very winds?

We learned very quickly.

After 7 sunsets of traveling, when I was now a man, we came across…it. The land around us was brown and lifeless. There were no trees nor animals; there was only an inescapable heat. We had known things would be warmer in the lands of the sun, but this was wrong. Still, we followed our blessed Exalted, but we began to worry. We trusted her judgment because it's the judgment of the Gods, but even her winds could not alleviate our suffering nor did she have any answers to soothe our fears.

Even when the stars were out, the heat did not fade.

On the 7th sunset, the ground began to shake. We did not have to search far, for off in the distance we could see it.

It was massive and tall, taller than any of the trees we had seen. The only things taller were the pillars from long ago. It was the color of blood and suns coursed through it.

The Exalted, blessed she be, approached it. Many of us wanted to flee, but it was the will of the Gods for us to meet this…creature. The closer we got, the hotter it became until many fainted from the heat. We continued on, hoping to speak with the creature, but as we approached it turned its blinding hands towards us.

Without even a warning, half of our people, half of our tribe, my family had been obliterated with their very souls gone!

We panicked and ran as the Exalted, blessed she be, stayed to face the monster!

I ran, I ran and never looked back! I ran, to who knows where, but I ran until I could run no more!

I ran…I ran…I ran…and now I am here among all of you.

I do not know what happened to the Exalted, blessed she be, and I do not know what happened to that monster.

The Exalted, blessed she be, claimed all to be the will of the heavens.

So why does that monster exist?

Why did we have to face it?

Why did the Gods scorn us?"

Traveling Together by LinkOnScepter
Traveling Together:

On the edge of a mountain-side cliff, rain beating down outside the cave the two take shelter in.

"Hey, Steliss?"

"Yes, Althica?"

"Where are we going next?"

"I don't know."

"OK."

-----

Hiding beneath an upturned tree as a monster tall as a tree trunk passes by.

"Hey, Steliss?"

"Yes, Althica?"

"Do you think we can become like the earth and trap one of those thing's hooves beneath the grass."

"...We can give it a shot."

After the beast has been stalled and they've run away.

"Stellis, where to next?"

"I don't know."

"OK."

-----

Fording across a river bank, having cut it in half as the Herald did so many years ago.

"Hey, Stellis?"

"Yes, Althica?"

"You don't have to carry me."

"You hurt your leg."

"Yeah, I did. That's the end for me."

"Not the end for us."

"...So, where are going after this?"

"I don't know."

"OK."

-----

Waiting by one of the "way shrines" that have been popping up recently.

"Hey, Althica?"

"Yes, Stellis?"

"Do you want to start a family with me?"

"...Sure."

"Thank you."

"...What are gonna do after that?"

"...I don't know."

"Good. I'd be worried if you did."

Will be honest, I don't know where this came from.

Nor exactly why it turned out the way it did.

But, I'm hoping that people like it.

And, at least according to fantasy name generators, Stellis is a Male Centaur Name while Althica is female. For those who are confused.

And this is why I left the Monkai to their own devices. Whatever troubles them they can't blame me for it. Somewhat, If they lose a fight I'm a have to divine message them saying they were too weak. Don't blame me for your own weakness!

I was mostly being sarcastic.

Not my fault that one of the places our people went into happened to be the one direction with the giant, fire titan in it.

Monkai by GamingandReading
Monkai
_________

After the GoF's creation finally Evolved qnd their community created. The GoF decided to finally speak to his creation.

"Testing, one two. Is this thing on? Oh? it is. Hello~ Those of the Monkai. This is your creator here. Finally! Been waiting ages for you lot to evolve enough to have a conversation." GoF spoke in a...lazy manner. He must be tired. Most would think and they would be absolutely right. Creating a line for which a God can speak to a Mortal without their heads exploding is freaking exhausting work.

"So, you all must be wondering why I finally decided to speak with you all. Pretty simple reason really. Just wondering if your done fighting amongst yourselves. You are? Good." GoF's tone changed. He sounded more serious. Scarily so.

"I've been getting bored lately. Even with that fight with that one bastard It did not give me any satisfaction. Well, that's not true. I felt great beating that f@ckers face in. But! I want proud satisfaction. I want to see my creations fight and win like Warriors." For some reason all the Monkai could feel it, a savage wanting grin had spread on their Gods face.

"I want to see their satisfied faces as they overcome a challenge! I want to see True Champions of Might rise from the Monkai!!!" Their Gods voice grew louder. "FIGHT!!! Take the rewards from winning. Just show me your all capable of great things! I want Warriors!!!" The last word resonated into their very beings. Warriors. Thats what they shall be.

GoF calmed down. "A very special power resides in all of you. It should help in your endeavors." The line cuts off.

The Monkai do not want to refute this feeling that has been implanted into their hearts. They all want to be Great Warriors. Great Champions of Might!

P/N: Well, here's another thing. Been rolling my head. I wanted to be a careless FG, but the hotbloodedness in me spoke otherwise. Entertainment. Satisfaction. Fighting. The words that now describe me.
P/Q: How much Dominion would it take to create the Sa-The Monkai OP?
