Seems like as good a way to make a connection for spy-mastery as reasonable? Given that we already have a good in with Gu Xiulan, I'm fine with using this as a way to build up more connections in a more concrete manner.
 
Not looking to have either share right now, this is for Zhengui. Though this being a warm up to asking Xuan Shi about whether Cai rejected his crush is something I wouldn't be upset about. Also generally good to involve Xiulan in shiz.

Selling the Mirror should allow for an extra few months of max GSS at Appraisal. We get one/month for being CRX's retainer, one/month for 200 RSS, and the other six for 500 RSS each, for a total of 3200 RSS/Month.

With 13000 RSS, that's four months of stones, not counting anything extra we may obtain for hitting Green 2 or rising in the ranks. Should decrease the amount of time it takes to hit Green 3 by a month or so, I think.

Neat that we might manage to delegate some level of discerning 'suitable targets' to someone else. Ideally in a 'you can probably take these people, investigate yourself' kind of way. Should help narrow things down and reduce the number of people yrsillar needs to design.

Isnt Xuan Shi a fan of this worlds version of trash pocket novels? Them meeting might allow Xuan Shi to direct his creepy healthy learnings towards Xuilan.

That's a thread joke from last time around. We never did actually confirm what he was reading, except the one time, which was formations research.

Excited to hear about arts being provided by the Cai archives, have to appreciate how earnestly Renxiang's trying to uphold her end of the bargain. Also nice to see her use our talents in the social field rather than simply being expected to fall in line. Looking forward to playing music and seeing more of our classic weaponised blunt socialising. Targeting Ruan Shen'll even kill two birds with one stone!

I am curious about what happened with Xuan Shi though. CRX was happy to encourage his crush for his usefulness, did he perhaps make his intentions clear and force her to shut him down? Not like she can engage in romance outside of her mother's rulings, after all.

Happy to see CRX joke with LQ too. Good that they're relaxing around each other.

Hmm, not sure where you're getting your information, the Xuan are a ducal clan so Shi outranks Xiulan. Also don't think he particularly stands out as someone with trust issues.

More Arts! Yes! I love arts, and I can't wait to see what the head archivist finds in the archives that he believes might suit us. I'm sure there may be one or two arts that will be a great boon. It will be interesting to see what we get in relation to what we see in the Sect's archives. It might be a nice data point to compare the archives.

Kind of figured, but it is good to get confirmation. Getting a minor connection to the Weilu conservatives might be useful, but there may be other scions from the Meng area in the Sect if Shen Hu is, something to look into. We already have a minor connection to the Lu, and forming a connection to the Meng would probably be very valuable.

This is interesting. It seems to signify that Cai Renxiang is enjoying an activity that the Duchess didn't actually want her too, but is willing to accept her enjoyment of it. Hopefully she can keep her interest in tea flourishing and keep developing her sense of self outside of what she believes is programmed into her by the Duchess.

Additionally, it makes me think that the seeds we got from the New Moon Quest would make some great tea and maybe a mark of status for our fief. I'm not sure exactly what those seeds will do, but knowing that tea was a cultural part of the Weilu it would make it more probable that seeds found in a Weilu tomb would be seeds for a tea plant.

All in all, it was nice to further develop our knowledge of Cai and the relationship we are growing with her. Here's hoping further relationship development!

It's likely Xuan Shi was told by the Admirals in no uncertain terms to get off his ass and cultivate a connection with LQ and Zhengui. By approaching him here with this excellent pretext we let him save face and not have to be the one approaching us, which he is way too socially awkward to want to have to do.
