The Celestial Peaks is built around the perfection of humanity but in a context where humans were the slaves of dragons. In the Peaks you cultivate some manner of utility which you then provide to your superiors. You might be a warrior, a chef, a doctor, a musician, or whatever, but your cultivation is about that.
The traditional Emerald Seas tends to involve messier cultivators who do not clearly fit into a profession, often blurring the line between human and spirit. What's LQ's job? Scout? She's far too loud for that. Assassin? She kills far too slowly. Sword or Flute? She thinks too much.
Well that's pretty horrible. The more I read about Peaks culture the more I go "ick, do not want!"This can be pretty complicated and I personally don't think JohnnieBoy123 is correct in the statement that Peakaboos don't see cultivators as people. It's more that for the peak, people, all people cultivators and mortals, have a place and a role in society. If they work to fulfill that role than that brings stability. Unfortunately when cultivators cultivate for a role they might lose some of their humanity and become more tools than people. We can see this in sword saints and in Meizhen's father. This is seen by almost everyone as quite bad, yet it works with the Peaks cultural understanding of how the world should work so they won't go out of their way to try and prevent it. That at least is my understanding of the situation.
Savage Dirge and Melodies of the Spirit Seekers are the most Weilu arts we have, so hell yeah I want both to be mastered and insights gained from!More seriously we have an art called Beast Kings Savage Dirge (BKSD) and its the story about the battle between Tsu and the Beast Gods at Xiangmen. This battle is part of the founding myth of the Emerald Seas so its a pretty big deal. Calls for plan TREE have been about advancing that art. You'll see a lot of that from me.
I still don't quite understand how the dice rolling works. How many degrees of success is this?

I'd already commented on that the Bai are really unlike Yao in a number of ways. Looks like that's intentional.also it really amuses me to keep writing the little bits of Yao that made it into Bai culture, cause it sticks out like a sore thumb but everyone pretends it doesn't lol
It was one of the earliest promises she made in her cultivation, back before she had ever heart of domains or names or laws. When she had abandoned the dream of the infinite blue sky, unmoored wholly from the base earth. Sometimes she forgot, sometimes it troubled her, sometimes she failed. She wasn't going to today.
Her wings were strong. She would carry as many as she needed too.
Their religion is essentially Buddhism. Basically be humble and eventually reach enlightenment to transcend this reality and if enough people do that eventually the nameless will wake and remake the world into a paradise. The Hui perverted their religion by insisting that they could reach enlightenment by separating themselves from the peasants and living in their ivory tower in Xiangmen while making their own little worlds.Having read Meng Deming's story several times I'm still a bit confused. How did the Hui pervert their religion, and what is it about in the first place? Something about rejecting this world? That sounds pretty terrible, and reminds me of the Weilu just disappearing and the chaos that caused.
Much appreciated.Their religion is essentially Buddhism. Much appreciated.
Another question: Is there a post explaining the workings of Talent somewhere? I've already gathered that it goes from 1 to 9, that Ling Qi is a 6, and that your cultivation xp is multiplied by it, so you advance faster the more talent you have, but other than that it still feels a bit confusing. What else does talent help with?
So it doesn't have a mechanical impact on opening meridians or learning arts?I think mechanically, in this iteration of the system, that's about it. Thematically, it covers how quickly a cultivator advances, but it's something of an abstraction combining luck, drive, and various other factors as well as natural talent. In-setting, Ling Qi's somewhat ridiculous luck gets lumped in as part of 'being a talented cultivator', for example.
