Here's the thing. Laughing Wind is going to be raising Motion to IV and Freedom to III anyway, so my vote goes to:

Because if @Neshuakadal and @Thor's Twin chip in a few omake points, we have an automatic success right there.

I really want this to go well. This deep in the nightmare, next to something called "Great", a failure here could go really really badly. We saw the outcome of our Su Ling misadventure and this place feels much more dangerous.

Also, an interesting plot line could be if Kongyou is used as an avatar by something. Perhaps after Xuan She raises a shield she becomes a backdoor.

You know when it comes to dreamwalking we seem to be in danger a lot and I am not sure rewards are worth it. Like there should be other ways of doing things.

I am not sure if I understand dreamwalking very well. Or at all.
 
To be honest, I'm very ambivalent about this. So, we're getting Motion IV and Freedom III regardless of this vote.

I like the high chance here. With omake points, we can get it to 100%, so whatever we roll will just be a *bonus*, so more boons/concept XP/loot. Plus, since there's a chance of failure for the whole Xuan Shi adventure, I really like the idea of a clean escape here, to minimize the chances of bad things happening.

Plus, Motion is Ling Qi's concept for change, especially since it ate Chaos, so it really fits with the whole, denying the stagnation of Nightmare.

And I admit, the lead-up to the vote, about a vault, fits Motion more.

On the other hand, I like this. There's a low chance, yes, but we can also push it to 80% with omake points. Plus, since this is all about escaping something that's coming from the Nightmare, after discussing the trappings of nightmares and tragedy, and the repeated mentions of LQ fighting against the Nightmare and how it wants to overtake here, I like the idea of escaping because Ling Qi won't let herself and her friends and family be held down by the negative, the dark, the Nightmare. It really fits the whole update imo, especially since this explores themes of Loss.

So for now, I'm just going to approval vote.

And, because the choices are between Motion and Freedom, Wind (or well, LFWT) and Darkness, I feel like this will be Laughing Wind and the Sable Grace upgrade it gives. Idk. I feel like I'm reading too much into this whole vote

This kind of fits better with Ling Qi's posture that just because something has always been terrible, it doesn't mean that she is doomed to repeat history and be the same. It flows better into the narrative of the chapter.

80% chance with omake is still pretty good.
 
I like motion for the "the future is now old man" vibe; if the nightmare doesnt adjust and change with the times, it will be left in the dust.
 
Our current Motion and Freedom concepts, for reference:

Motion III (3/5): Motion is change, the wind of your wings obscures destiny
Freedom II (1/3): Choosing to be bound for the sake of others does not dull Freedom's edge

Both concepts will level up this turn regardless of what we choose here from project XP, but I'm guessing whichever we pick now will level up this update.
 
I think I like how Motion's insight relates to the update more. After all, things change, and destiny is not clear, so nightmare is not inevitable. Nice thematics.

Note also that our current status is:
  • Motion III (3/5)
  • Freedom II (1/3)
so for the sake of optimizing total concept levels we will want more Freedom sometime. But since we still want both, the higher percentage should usually win.

Has anyone kept track of how much concept XP we get per month, vs how much cultivation XP we get? I know the increasing XP requirements per concept level will slow us down, but we are currently far ahead in concept levels so I don't think we need to pay too much attention when the levels are close anyway - I'm guessing it's sufficient to just be aware that at some point we may want to increase some of the I and II concepts (like Endings, lol).
 
Okay, so I'll approval vote for now, but I'll most likely change it depending on any upcoming arguments. I do think Freedom is the better option though because of the idea of not being held back by nightmares and patterns, and how it sticks with Ling Qi's themes of accepting the bad, but not letting it define her. Of openly challenging it, and saying No. Plus, if this does decide which concept we level up here, I want to level up Motion during the fief survey or with Skelunckle.
