Damn I didn't really look carefully at the plan. It modifies RME. I'm not really down with that...I'm not attached to the way RME is now or anything. I'm fine for changing it in general but right now I haven't seen any concrete ideas for a modified version that I like. I agree that a hearing-based perception art would suit LIng Qi better but turning RME into a hearing based art sounds like a stretch. They're two different senses. What would we do for the technique with the pool of water? How exactly will looking into the scrying pool translate to...sound? What about the wisps? If we modify that technique, instead of floating eyes, they'd be floating...ears? Floating ears? That sounds a tad weird to me, don't know about you guys.
The only other idea I recall someone posting lately changed the art even more dramatically. I know there was the whole idea of combining HDW and RME but we ended up modifying HDW already. IICR, you can only modify an art once. I feel like we're gonna end up trying to modify RME without an actual solid idea or plan. For HDW, there were multiple ideas that seemed like they'd work. Modifying arts means tweaking them, not changing them entirely. With the ideas that have been thrown out there so far, there's so little overlap it feels like we're scraping the entire art. May as well just find a new one...well we have a lot of arts already, going to the archive again at this point would be overkill. However just because we want hearing-based perception art doesn't mean we should risk ruining RME. RME has value in utility--and its very possible to ruin an art in the modification process.
