AN: This is not my main story, it is something I'm writing when i get writer's block in my main, so I probably won't update as often as you'd like. Sorry.
I haven't read the original story. I tried, but I have issues with depression and I couldn't get more than a few chapters in without it affecting me.

The Wizarding World of Taylor Hebert

Chapter 1:

Taylor Hebert wept softly while weakly clawing at the walls of her locker. She had been trapped inside of it by Sophia Hess, while egged on by Emma Barnes, Taylor's once best friend. She had screamed, begged, and banged on the door, to no avail. She could hear people walking by laughing but none stopped to help her. She had begun to give up hope, accepting that no one was coming, when things took a turn for the strange. Her head spun, and she felt like she was falling, before hitting the floor and sprawling out in a tangle of limbs and hair. Confused, she looked around at the room she was now in. It looked like a strange auditorium with bleacher-like seating on opposite sides of the room surrounding an illuminated platform, where she now sat. Directly across from her was a dark void that seemed to go on forever. She climbed to her feet, taking a moment to peel the garbage from her clothing that had stuck to her while inside the locker.

"That looks unpleasant." Spoke a male voice from behind her. Spinning, Taylor saw a floating platform coming out of the darkness, carrying a gaudy throne with gilded lion heads rising from the armrests. The person who had spoken was sitting on it, a teenage boy wearing black and crimson robes with a high flat-topped black hat. "Here, let me clean you up."

He snapped his fingers causing a blinding white light to fill the room, fading a moment later. Looking down, Taylor saw that the mess was gone, and her clothing had changed from her usual jeans and hoodie to something far more elegant. She was now wearing a slim grey vest with wide gold notched lapels over a long-sleeved white shirt above a flowing grey ankle-length skirt with a waist-high slit over a matching gold lining. Her fingers grazed the small black buttons that ran down the midline of the vest before sliding across the surprisingly soft fabric of the skirt.

It feels real, she thought to herself. Bewildered, Taylor looked up at the strangely dressed teenager, "Who are you?"

"I am one of the Q, but for simplicity's sake, you may call me Xander."

"And… and you brought me here?"

"I did, yes. You see, I find enjoyment in travelling to universes other than my own, giving… enhancements, to people and seeing what they can do with it. Now, it's your turn."

"My turn? I don't understand."

Xander nodded, "To be blunt, you were about to… I believe in your world the term is 'trigger'. About to gain a superpower."

Taylor's eyes widened, "I'm going to become a parahuman?"

The omnipotent being snorted, "You say that like it's a good thing. Trust me when I say it's not. If you knew where parahuman powers came from… well, it doesn't matter now. I've decided to give you something more fun. After all, you were about to be able to control bugs. I mean… bugs?! What kind of hero controls bugs. No, you're getting something better."

"You can do that? Just decide what power I will get?"

Xander leaned forward in his chair, "I'm Q. I can do whatever I want."

"Oh. Well… what kind of powers are you giving me?"

"I'm giving you magic."

Taylor snorted, "Magic isn't real."

"Not in your universe, no. However, it is in others. I'm giving you a form of magic from a world where magic is treated as you would treat… cooking, or chemistry. You wave a wand in a specific pattern, you say specific words, you get a specific result. It's teachable. In fact, in that world there are entire schools dedicated to teaching magic to children. Their society uses magic for nearly everything. Combat, transportation, medicine, even cleaning and maintaining their homes. I'm going to give you the knowledge and ability to utilize that magic. With a bit of work, you'll be the most versatile cape in your world."

"And what do you get out of this? Because no one give away all this power for nothing."

"To be blunt, I get entertainment. That's the deal. You want all this power, you need to be entertaining. I'll be watching."

Taylor raised an eyebrow, "That's it?"

"Yup. Mostly, I prefer it when you use your powers to be a hero and fix the city, but as long as the story is compelling, I'll leave those decisions up to you. I won't deny 'Dark Lord Taylor' could be interesting."

"No, I want to be a hero. What do I need to do?"

Xander looked around the strange room and frowned, "Let's go somewhere more comfortable before we continue."

Xander snapped his fingers again, a blinding light flashing once more. This time, when it faded, she found herself not in the weird auditorium but seated in her kitchen. Xander looked around, taking in the room. "I like this, it's quaint. Reminds me of Ms. Summer's kitchen."

"Who?"

Xander waved a hand lazily, "Doesn't matter. What matters is this."

He held up a hand, a small flash of white light along his fingertips faded to show him holding a small ampule filled with deep purple liquid. He reached forward, setting the item on the tabletop before her. "This potion will make you magical as well as imparting the needed knowledge to cast spells and make potions. All you have to do is drink it. Once you've done that, you'll find everything you need to be successful waiting for you upstairs. Enjoy."

He snapped his fingers, two simultaneous flashes lighting up the kitchen. When they faded, Xander was gone, and Taylor was once more dressed in casual streetwear. Looking around everything seemed normal. She wouldn't have believed any of it were true if it weren't for the small glass bottle of purple liquid still sitting on the table. She stared at it intensely, heavily debating the possibility that this was some kind of prank, or an attack. She also debated the possible repercussions of having powers. There were many gangs in the city that would be interested in people with powers and try to recruit her by force. She would also probably cross paths with the PRT at some point. She'd have to figure out how to explain her powers without using the word 'magic'. There was a cape named Myrddin who claimed his powers were magic and everyone thought he was crazy. That would need more thought. Still, it was worth the work if it means she could be a hero, like she'd dreamt about sinch she was a child. Sighing heavily, she grabbed the bottle and removed the cap. Before she could change her mind, she raised it to her mouth and imbibed the liquid. She then sat and waited for something to happen. After nearly five minutes of nothing, she sighed and stood, picking up the now empty glass bottle. She stood and went to the sink to wash it out when a sudden sharp burning pain hit her. She bent in on herself, the heat starting in her torso just below her heart and quickly spreading out to her limbs. The glass vial shattered as it hit the ground, dropped and forgotten about. Taylor dropped to her knees, a sharp pain separate from the burning shooting up her leg as one knees landed on a piece of broken glass.

She cried out, the burning increasing until the whole world was fire. Finally, after what felt like an eternity, the pain started to fade. There was a tingling in her body as the burning receded, until finally, she felt like she could breathe again. Gripping the counter top, she pushed herself to her feet, grumbling to herself. "You could have warned me."

Once on her feet, she noticed a piece of paper sitting on the table where the glass vial had sat previously. Written upon it was a single word. 'Sorry.'

Taylor snorted, "Cute." She snatched up the paper, crumpling it up and shoving it into a pocket. After digging out an adhesive bandage to stick to her bleeding knee, she made her way up the stairs to her bedroom wanting to see what her mysterious patron had left for her. She entered, her eyes immediately locking upon the one noticeable change. Up against one wall was a tall wooden wardrobe that hadn't been there that morning. She recalled what Xander had said, that she would find everything she needed to be successful. Cautiously approaching the cabinet, she reached out to grip the handles of the two doors and pulled. Her eyes went wide when she saw the interior. It was huge, impossibly bigger than it should have been. She knew there were spells to increase storage space inside a container like a bag or box, but she'd never have believed it were possible to expand it this much.

She froze, momentarily distracted by the thought she'd just had. It must have been part of what Xander had said, that she would have the knowledge she'd need to use magic. It was a bit freaky to know things she shouldn't, but it would come in handy going forward.

She turned her attention back to the space beyond the cabinet door, which looked like a room in a castle with walls made of dark grey stone. It was a large round space that had separate areas dedicated to different uses. Straight across from the entry was a large comfortable crimson colored couch and two armchairs in front of a massive stone fireplace. It was so big she would be able to walk into it if she ever needed to Floo somewhere.

Taylor paused for a moment, smiling at the depth of her knowledge, before continuing to take in the enlarged space. Next to the fireplace was a clock that didn't have numbers, but was instead divided into sections labeled with locations like 'Home, work, school, hospital, travelling', and more. There were only two hands on the clock, one which had her name engraved on it and was currently pointing at 'home', while the other had her father's name and was currently pointing at 'work'.

Looking to the left side of the room, she saw that it was split between potion brewing, and enchanting/creation. There were two wide marble tabletops, one surrounded by rows of shelves lined with bottles full of ingredients, bits of plants and animals kept in stasis until needed. It had four large cauldrons and an array of stirrers, scales, knives and other assorted tools. The other table was surrounded by stacks of wood, carving tools, and bottles of magical cores for wand making. There were also containers of straw, and all the metal parts needed to create flying brooms.

The right side of the room was lined with tall arching bookcases filled with tomes organized by subject, including charms, transfiguration, arithmancy, cooking and house care, healing, and more. The only furniture in this space was a table surrounded by four chairs with a stone bowl sitting upon it. The artifact was inscribed with lines of runes and filled with a smoky substance that seemed to shift and move of its own accord. However, that wasn't what held the girl's attention. Her eyes were locked on a length of wood sitting on the opposite end of the table, waiting for her to pick it up. The handle was thicker than the wand shaft and designed to look like it was covered in cracked bark. Where the two parts met was capped with bronze-colored metal inscribed with runes. Taylor thought it was the most beautiful thing she had ever seen.

Hand shaking, she reached out and took up the wand in her hand. An impossible wind blew her hair about as energy shot up her arm and suffused her being, a warmth filling her. This wand was hers. It was part of her. She raised it above her head and drew it downward, silver sparks flowing from the tip as it moved. Knowing what to do, she held the wand out before her and spoke aloud, "Lumos."

White light emitted from the tip of the wand, her wand, and she smiled at this proof that she now had magic within her. She was a witch, and she was going to change the world.

Pretty interesting idea, be cool to see where this goes and how Taylor can mange to mess up everyones expectations ;)

'Dark Lady Taylor' would pretty much be the 'cannon' result of this power set lol

You said you were using this as Writers block aid, you write FanFiction elsewhere or other stories?

Ran across this while waiting for the Naproxen to kick in on my back. Interesting idea, where you go with it will determine a lot of things in very short order. If you've read any of Dogbertcaroll's stuff, he's got a story where Xander Harris has the magic of Magic The Gathering and he goes some interesting places there with it.

Jump chains are the only ting that works with their "(almost) no plot, only shenanigan's here," writing style.

Call for help New
Hello, everyone. I am sorry that this isn't an update. I have a lot of ideas for this story, as well as a second I am working on but I feel like I can't write it at the level I want without some help. I need someone, or multiple people, to advise me on Worm canon. I have tried reading it, but between major ADHD and depression, I just can't get through it. I have read a hundred Fanfictions and I need people to discuss stuff, bounce ideas off of, and advise me on how different events from canon would be affected by things that my character does.

In the other story I am also working on, Taylor becomes a tinker with the knowledge of Alteran/Ancient science and technology from the Stargate tv universe. If you are willing to help me out, please send me a private message.

Knowledge of Harry Potter/Harry Potter Fanfiction or Stargate SG1/Atlantis is a bonus.

I have a discord to discuss my stories if anyone wants to come on there to talk about them:

Thank you.
