She has advantage, and while she might lose it, I can almost guarantee she'd get that. I would recommend something thematic, but that's up to you.
-[X]Change: a group of priests, not far from phoenix city, have long since noticed that connecting to the gods got more difficult. they have been waiting and preparing rituals to strengthen the connection once it got some basis strength back. wich it just did. Any group of priests sympathetic to phoenix city can be the one that was changed.
This is rejected becuase it's already happened in quest. I'd spend it on other FP stuff.

Okay, so. This is a good choice, except as QM, I'm going to point you to the "investigate Xiaomei" action.
I'd point you to the [--[] Xiaomei has inherited the soul of someone who was once a god, and this must meant she was one of the dead gods. That'll take some time but maybe it'll identify the enemy some. (1 AP 5 6 RP per turn, 9 turns)] action instead. (102 RP is a lot to spend on what is basically going to be "It's weird that when demonic and void stuff comes up, she responds strongly."
Alternatively, I could take it as spending on void and demonic, if that works out for you?

This looks like it could be really really cool though I gotta ask how long might it take to get like legendary skills and stats over eighties much less 100s in real life? Like it possible to do in world 1 in a few hundred thousand words?
Also what's romance like in quest? Like gay, straight, asexual? I'm hoping the latter but I can deal with anything.
Uh.. let me put it this way. 80s is.. meant to be in a while. I'm not sure when the next world will be, but the capstone quest on this world is Level 10.
Romance is gay, but tbh, Xiaomei won't run into her wife for ... well, to put it this way, I'd like to explore a lot of other things before I start working on writing romance. Xiaomei thinks she's dead, and isn't the type to remarry, after all.

You can name a few worlds that the Celestial Bureaucracy refuses to enter. Sometimes it's simply you can't bring enough power in, some is due to it being a bad world, and a few.. well, the Celestial Bueaucracy might destroy in a few thousand thousand millenia.
That said, Xiaomei sitll needs help, and your pool should function with some changes, right?

So it's peculiar Xiaomei responds oddly to Void and Demonic energy. You choose to investigate what is known about those. The Void seperates the Heavens from the Demons from the Worlds. There used to be gods and goddesses of the Void, but you haven't heard much of them in a long while.
Demons, on the other hand, are just evil for evil's sake Gods and Goddesses, the Fallen. They usually don't leave the Underworld, and the Celestial Enforcers constantly battle them.
.. Come to think of it, they've been unable to do much recently, haven't they? It's concievable things could sneak past them.

And finds herself woken up in a coutroom's waiting room. Bemused, she follows the queue of endless faces, some glaring at her in hatred. It doesn't take her long to realize there was a trial on for each soul. And..
There's something off about that Judge as the mass entered. Something false. Something wrong.
Xiaomei walked up, feeling her power flare.

[Justicar: +5 Progress. The world is not just. Therefore you are.]
"Stand down, pentient." The Judge barks, as Xiaomei's blade appears as if by magic, stunning the observers.
"I will not let the tribunal of justice, nor the mercy of death be ruled over by a foul imposter." Xiaomei responds. "Awaken the power of miracles!" She sings, her blade igniting in rainbow colored fire as her Qi swirls around her.

The Judge sends a bolt of purest darkness, followed by the Baliff while some souls look up in hope.

Xiaomei blocks the bolts, continuing to advance inexorably, singing as the magic flows around her. The Judge sneers at her.
"Does a lowly mortal really think she could kill a Greater God?"
"She's capable of it." A new voice speaks up, smoothly. "But she doesn't have to." The Judge pales as a sword cuts him and the baliff in half, killing them instantly.
A new Judge had been standing there, clearly taking advantage of Xiaomei's distraction. "Let the trials begin. Cilia, this is not your time. You are dismissed, with thanks of the court."
She wakes. Had that all been a dream? Well.

Still, she remembered to do her morning prayers facing the Temple before moving on with her day.
The next night..
She's in a empty courthouse, this time, instead of a waiting room, she faced the God of Justice
"Thank you for your assistance yesterday." He says. "And I apologize that I have to ask you for more work, but that is the way of it. There is a priest of mine who has claimed to speak for me in a nearby city, but he preaches naught but hate. I would like to see him dealt with - without violence. You will find him in the city of Egai, on the edge of the Moncolisian Empire. I believe doing so would prove beneficial to you, but I would teach you something first to make sure."
He nods at Xiaomei's kimono. "You have no doubt wished at times to wear your armor but something else. I will teach you the ancient art of Glamouring, such that with the maintenance of some energy, you can have your kimono appear to be anything else."

[Glamouring is a 10 Qi/hour action, and you can make your kimono look like anything you want. For 10 Qi more an hour, it will touch, feel, and smell like anything you want. For 20 Qi more an hour (40 total), it will appear that through any kind of magical sight.]
Xiaomei wakes.. and reflects on how there needs to be more priests so that they don't all ask her to do things.
She does know what a priestess of Senian wears, which was identical to what priestesses of Khalia, and glamours her kimono. And after some thought, puts some energy into it so people don't just see it as an illusion.
And off she sets, working on her Flash Step to gain more understanding of it. Only by trying, contemplation, and study could one master themselves.
Sadly, Flash Step refused to be better mastered. Still, she headed into the town, and got some hostile looks, before a doubletake at her amulet and look. Khalia's priestesses hadn't been active in years, and some began to rethink their thoughts about the goddess. Maybe she was coming back like Senian?
It wasn't hard for Xiaomei to find the priest. The crowd alone was a good hint, and Xiaomei grimly, and determinly pushed through it, relying on her Qi.

And it worked, with people surprised they were completely unable to hit or do anything to her. A sense of awe came as they let her approach the priest, who was beginning to jeer at her.

"I do not pretend." Xiaomei says. "I am a Celebrant of Khalia."
"Why sh-"
"Because, as it is said, the divines are interested in the rightness of the person, and moreso, is not justice for one, justice for all?"

The crowd began to mutter as the two debated. The priest's face got red and redder.
"You twist the words, foul spawn of the demon! You seek to undermine the righteousness of the cause!"
"Righteousness." Xiaomei's face grew taut, and a sense of anger came from her.
"I am not the one who comes to villages, and kills children who are innocent. I am not the one who says 'You look different, therefore you must die.' Think of the elves who think humans should die. Naturally, such people are looked down on. And consider that historically, the Hero Dariah had a fennebeast priestess of Senian. You have twisted your cause to hide behind righteousness when it is about power and wealth. Such an act.. is not worthy of a priest of Senian.

The crowd began to murmur as they considered the points. Most intelligent monsters just wanted to be left alone, after all, and the Fifth Hero did have a fennebeast priestess. It just wasn't talked about much.
The priest screamed and went to attack before his holy symbol exploded in his hands. Xiaomei looked at him sadly.
"You've persuaded yourself that your biases are that of your cause, haven't you? It is not too late. Repent, and dedicate your life to your god and atonement, and you too can find peace."

The priest stammers "I-I-.." and walks off in a daze. Xiaomei shook her head, and after answering questions, walked to the closed Temple Way, and spent the day cleaning and blessing the temples in the name of all of the divines.
The next day, after she's returned, word spreads the temples have been reopened, with priests and celebrants rededicating themselves to worship.

.. So either I need to up DCs or cut Xiaomei's boni in half. At least, if the dice I'm using keep giving me such high rolls. That DC 200 was meant to start a quest when she failed.
i dont thi k we should be punished for good rolls. wd also shouldnt get pitty for bad rolls. defeats the whole quest format. just beef up the challenge rating for the next world. but please also beef up the rewards.
A player who is good at the game should be challenged and rewarded for it.
Just as a player who is bad at the game should inconvinienced and given extra training for it.

Don't? We worked hard for the bonuses, just maken everything harder means that nothing we do is important. That a person that is good at something shouldn't be good a that for some reason?
Yea that is the dilehma of power creep. Seems that weve progressed past your expectations. That can be alarming when you want to give yourplayers a challenge, but i encourage you to simply adjust and learn for next time
But I also want to assure you that miscalculating and having to readjust seems to be normal for QMs
That theres nothing wrong with hitting goals early or excelling, and recycling ideas for further down the road
And that if you do increase difficulties or create new problems out of nowhere, dont tell the players. Then theyll focus more on feeling cheated than the fun they had playing in ignorance and working to overcome the challenges to win anyways
the best play,i think, is to have incredibly powerful secret final boss who spends very little effort in destroying the mc at first. if we excell they spend more effort,which makes it harder for us but also harder for them to reach their final goal. think of it as metaprogression. in the moment stuff gets harder, but on the whole setting we are making more progress. a nice way to do this would be, for example, getting us a new powerful agent as an opponent, but in an interlude show how the guy the agent should be killing right now escaped and can do more good somewhere else. who knows he might show up later to help out one time.

All agree that the dying of the year 217 of the Peace of Tair was the crisis that preciptated this. The Moncolisan Crusade against anything not human or elvish was on-going, and the Principality of Yang had been revealed to fund the periodic "incidents" that saw entire monster tribes killed or drived out. It was this backdrop that saw the rise of the Clans of Keria, and it was the Clans of Keria that had restored the gods to our world."

Week 1
Gorpiaos 14-15, 217 Peace of Tair (6th Age)
Xiaomei had always kept the the goddess being imprisoned in the back of her head. But there was a bit of a hurry around getting the city ready. She, and a number of guards, were also tasked to build several secure warehouses where food would be stockpiled to help with sieges.

Still, she overheard a concerning conversation.
"Is the plan ready?"
"Yes. We've got the stuff at the Barrow of the Heroes of Eari"
That was back in the Third Age, if Xiaomei remembered correctly.
"Good. These beasts won't know what hit them. And the false gods shall burn in the fires of hell."
Well then. Xiaomei reported back in, and headed out to Barrow of the Heroes of Eari. It was located to the northeast, in a hill that rose from the surrounding savana. It was once one of the holiest of sites for worshippers of Khalia, but over the centuries had lost importance. Xiaomei would blame the civil war that took place and would eventually split the Grand Duchy of Molia and Moncolisan Duchy - now Empire - apart. The hill.. was shourded in rain, and she had a foreboding feeling. Xiaomei carefully activated her Qi and stared at the hill, looking for guards, or something.

Xiaomei rather thought she could see the corrupted Qi and inflow. She probably couldn't, though. But maybe Detect Magic could help - it'd at least detect mana. She had to cast it a few times, but she began to see multiple flows.. to mulitple locations. And it wasn't just mana. That was.. a lot of energy. She shivered involuntarily. There were four large sources, and two of them were.. corrupted.

Well. They did say something about false gods, didn't they? Xiaomei wraps her energy around her again and starts working on the way in.

There weren't any living guards, but Xiaomei had to resort many times to scattering enemies with fire. As if to back her rather dark thoughts, she found channeling divine magic to be quite difficult. After a while, she had to start emulating the spells with her Qi, but even that left them weaker than she'd like. She almost certainly was going to have to meditate on this.
The barrow was.. almost haunted, she'd say.

.. but not so haunted she didn't find a passageway to a hidden shrine. Guarded by a dark elf wearing the vestments of a priestess of Khalia.
.. and she was one of the sources of corruption. The two didn't exchange any words, immediately launching into attacks agaisnt each other, Xiaomei channeling the cleansing fire into her blade immediately. Xiaomei smoothly dodged the dark staff and brought her katana up in a smooth blow to attack, but the Priestes was only slightly injured.
The two cast at each other for a second, before Xiaomei began to attack again with her blade. The corrupted priestess stares in disbelief as Xiaomei was completely unaffected by the Miasma, as her blade ignites again. Xiaomei knew she could not let this go on any further. The risks were too great she'd slip up.
But she overextended, and the Priestess took immediate advantage to swing her staff, black energy bolting out at Xiaomei.
Gritting her teeth, Xiaomei resisted the pain and tried again .. and again. This time, she connects, and the priestess is caught on fire, then burns with a blue-white holy fire. The priestess snarls, and returns fire with her own dark fire, throwing it and hitting Xiaomei straight on. Xiaomei began to burn with a black fire, and she barely fights off the curse as she is now severely hurt.
"None can withstand the power of the Demon Queen! The Void shall feed!"
But she couldn't let this corrupted priestess win. She had to win.
It was this moment when she had an insight into the nature of what it means to clean and render judgement.
She channeled this insight into her blade, then brought it in a wide slash, attempting to end the fight before it got too much. She channeled her energy into her awareness, and for a moment, she had a moment of everything slowing down as the blade turned a white-orange as it sliced through the air.
The priestess exploded into holy flames, her vestaments reforming as Xiaomei watched. She picked it up, feeling a strong blessing from Khalia as it melded into her amulet. (Blessing of Khalia strengthened, now +10 Armor, +25% Holy Damage)
Xiaomei purifies the room, including the corrupted shrine, and the oppressiveness seems to leech out as she wearily leans against it, spending some of her mana to heal herself.
She had to finish, but she swore to herself to investigate making elixers and potions, since she was saving hers for an true emergency. She got up and wearily headed back to finish investigating the burrow. But it did seem the corruption was lessening. She could purify things, and methodically did so, before she reached the lowest level, and on the Hero Eari herself, she saw a clearly demonic artifact, if she wasn't wrong, it was to the Demon Queen. She destroyed it, and finished purifying, heading back home. Tiredly.

Week Two

No one in Phoenix City was comfortable leaving this abbey uninvestigated. And yet, all the A-rank parties were busy with a flurry of jobs that had appeared. Xiaomei was sure that was related, but decided not to complain about it.
The abbey, a beautiful older temple built of sandstone on a cliff overlooking the sea, was deserted when she reached it. And that set off her wariness even more.

Xiaomei spotted the hidden magical traps that would detonate the abbey, and spent sometime casting Dispel repeatedly.

She explored the temple and her eyes rose up at reading about the grave of Khalia. In alarm, mind you. She also noted the process of making the priestess fall.. and their theories about how the Demons always returned.
Xiaomei considered going back for help but knew that she didn't have time. She left the temple, and strode off into the forest after collecting all of the notes..and after blessing and purifying the unholy water. It might be important later.
The temple was well hidden in what were clearly magically induced jungles. She ended up experimenting with the various elemental arts of Jigen Haoh on the way, and came to the conclusion wind and stellar qi were the only viable methods. Fire seemed to excite as much as it destroyed.
It was half past the afternoon when she finally reached the temple. Full of visily corrupted and dark aspected people, and it became a running attack.
It took her a good hour of constant fighting, from palm techniques, to chakram uses, to katana attacks, and even the spontaneous usage of the Earth-Rending Wave Fist to clear a path, as much as she was trying to avoid collteral damage.

Still, she faced a fork in the path, and with a weary sigh, decided to take out the priestess first. Given her luck, it was likely the more difficult fight.

Xiaomei's attempt to be stealthy fails, but given the fact that the priestess is half demon, she wasn't entirely sure it'd ever have worked. The two face each other for a long moment.

Xiaomei smiles. It's quite chilly. "I fight for righteous justice. And, of course, my people. But most importnatly, I do not betray my oaths."

Hmm, is there a reason why Cilia doesn't get a rep for the second turn in a row? Especially from Kerian Pantheon, I would have thought it would have been much higher than 13 considering how many things she's done for them during that time.
