The Shattering War - An Elden Ring GSRP

Godwyn the Golden, first of Queen Marika's children, has been slain. Rank treachery has seen him felled by a stolen piece of the Rune of Death, ending the life of a demigod for the first time since Queen Marika's ascent. In her grief, Marika shattered the Elden Ring and disappeared within the Erdtree where none can follow.

Marika's children, demigods one and all, have seized the fragments of the Elden Ring in the form of the Great Runes. They have formed a Sovereign Alliance to rule over the Lands Between in their mother's absence. Yet, flush with power, they all know a simple truth: there can only be one new Elden Lord.

Welcome to The Shattering War - An Elden Ring GSRP. I've long felt that Elden Ring is a prime setting for a GSRP, but in planning this I've come to realize that the esoteric nature of the lore makes pinning down exact details for the canonical characters somewhat difficult. For this reason, I've decided to take some advice from @Noco and make this an all OC Shattering War.

For the sake of lore, you can generally assume everything not directly related to the Demigods is canon, and played out largely the same way. This means the rise of Marika, the war with the Dragons, Giants, Carians, and Marika's Crusade are all potential hard points to center a character around. Similarly, the unions that lead to the various demigods are all canon. These unions are Marika and Godfrey, Radagon and Rennala, and Marika and Radagon. The only canonical children of these unions in this game are Godwyn, Messmer, and Melina. With Godwyn dead, Messmer locked away in the Land of Shadow, and Melina burned and bodiless, this leaves a lot of space for player-made Demigods.

All Outer Gods are a sort of soft-canon. All Outer Gods exist, but may or may not have links with various Demigods. The God of Rot will be sealed beneath the Lake of Rot either way, for example, but there doesn't necessarily need to be a Malenia-like figure. You may also create your own Outer Gods if you wish, though these will receive more scrutiny.

Alongside Demigods, there will be Empyreans, Servants, and Warlords. Empyreans are a subset of Demigods who have been chosen by the Two Fingers to potentially take Marika's place as a God, rather than simply becoming the next Elden Lord. Servants are PCs who are not related to Marika but are instead servants of her children. Think Blaidd, Tanith, or Sir Ansbach. Finally, Warlords are those who, in the chaos of the Shattering, have taken it upon themselves to rise up and take the spot of Elden Lord for themselves. These may be early Tarnished who have washed up on the shores of the lands between, but they may also be nobles, revolutionaries, or soldiers of fortune who never left the Lands Between. This could include a Leader of the Revolt in Castle Morne (though technically this event takes place long after the shattering) or the Head of Raya Lucaria Academy.

Keep in mind that, regardless of starting Class, death in this game will be permanent unless players specifically set up a way to circumvent it. Only Tarnished blessed by Grace can respawn, and even then that Grace is terribly fleeting.

Character Creation

In the original timeline, the Night of Black Knives was orchestrated by Ranni as part of her long plan to rid herself of the Two Fingers. However, few in the Lands Between knew this, seemingly including many of her siblings. To simulate this mystery, I ask that anyone who wants to have been responsible for the Night of Black Knives to PM me with an explanation of how and why their character did it. I will select one such person to be the one who carried out the deed, but I will not make it public. All that is certain is that someone stole the Rune of Destined Death and used it to see Godwyn dead, in part or in full.

Now, I would ask everyone to keep in mind that, while Demigods are by definition larger than life characters, I am looking for characters who are interesting rather than just strong. While this is a PvP game, there are no real stats. Fights will take into account the specific matchup as well as, probably more importantly, preparations made prior to a specific conflict. No Demigod will be so powerful as to be head and shoulders above all other players. Even Malenia could fall to a Tarnished of No Renown, after all.

Application Format

Name:
Appearance:
Class: (Empyrean/Demigod/Servant/Warlord)
Player Location at Game Start: (Empyreans and Demigods are assumed to be in Leyndell, the Royal Capital, as part of the Sovereign Alliance, unless they have a good reason not to be.
Faction: (Such as Redmane Knights or Mohg's Dynasty of Blood.)
Faction Location at Game Start: (May or may not be the same place as player location. Overlap faction locations with other players at your own risk, I will decide whether they can reasonably both be in the same place on a case by case basis.)

Outer God Alignment: (If none, do not include this category. If using a non-canon Outer God, include a brief and suitably vague description.)

Abilities: (This should include what your character is notably capable of, both in and outside of combat. Empyreans and Demigods should include what specific empowerment they receive from their Great Rune, unless they have divested themselves of them. I will note that while Miquella's abilities canonically included the ability to charm others, I ask that you not include any mind controlling abilities here, as they can be unfun in a multiplayer situation.)

Lore: (The lifespan of characters in Elden Ring is somewhat unclear, especially given Marika's sealing away of Destined Death. That being said, I'd ask that you keep things somewhat succinct, in typical Fromsoft fashion. Also, because Elden Ring's lore is notoriously vague, you can use this as a general layout of what has happened when based on item descriptions: https://eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Timeline+of+Lands+Between+history. I don't think it's been updated for the DLC, so just know the Crusade happened while Godfrey was still Lord, and Messmer was around at least until Godfrey was banished, but probably not when Miquella and Malenia were born. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.)

I will be accepting three Empyrean, five Demigods, and Servants and Warlords based on game balance and how many people I feel I can manage. I'll be doing this with three phases: accepting first Empyreans, then Demigods, and finally Servants and Warlords. This way, people who don't get in as Empyreans can rework their sheets as Demigods, and any who don't get in as Demigods have a chance to reapply as Servants or Warlords. This also gives the chance for factions to be established to interest Servant applications.

Example App

Name: Malenia, Blade of Miquella
Appearance: https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/lordofthemysteries-fanon/images/1/19/Malenia_pic.jpg/revision/latest/scale-to-width-down/250?cb=20230515205446
Class: Empyrean
Player Location at Game Start: Leyndell, the Royal Capital
Faction: The Cleanrot Knights
Faction Location: Miquella's Haligtree

Outer God Alignment: The God of Rot
The Outer God of Rot was sealed beneath the Lake of Rot long ago by a blind swordsman. Even so, its influence remains, killing or mutating those who suffer its affliction.

Abilities:
Malenia is a swordswoman without peer, trained by a certain blind swordsman. She has never yet known defeat in battle, though her body is ravaged with rot.

Accursed with the Scarlet Rot, Malenia is at once its victim and herald. She holds within her the ability to bloom with that rot, infecting all in her vicinity. Once the rot is in place it will only further spread, killing and mutating all that it touches. With each bloom, Malenia's power over the rot grows, and it is said that after the third bloom she will become a goddess in truth.

Her great rune allows her to help restore her ravaged body, healing with every strike she delivers.

Lore:
Malenia was born to the union of Marika and Radagon, alongside her twin Miquella. However, as Marika and Radagon are the same person, their children were born afflicted. Malenia was specifically afflicted with the Scarlet Rot, which ravaged her from the inside, eventually costing her several limbs.

When she was young she met a blind swordsman, the very swordsman who sealed away the God of Rot long ago. The swordsman became her master, training her in the way of the blade despite her affliction. Eventually, she became a warrior of peerless skill, and in the process attracted quite a following. Her Cleanrot Knights joined her cause out of admiration for her resilience, while others began to worship her as a Goddess for the rot within her.

Despite all this, the rot continued to eat away within her. Malenia refused to release the rot, fearing the destruction it would wreak. Her brother Miquella tried to find a cure, but all his efforts could only halt her sickness from getting worse. Even so, their bond was deep, and when the shattering occurred it was to Miquella's cause that she devoted herself. Thus, as the Blade of Miquella, Malenia will cut down any who stand in the way of her brother's path to godhood.

Mihr, The Ashen

Demigod
Leyndell, the Royal Capital
Lord of The Burned Men
Lord of Mountaintops of the Giants
Chosen of the Frenzied Flame

Abilities, Great Rune, and Combat Style

Flame's Embrace: Mihr channels the power of the Frenzied Flame in combat, wielding it with both fury and skill. His attacks are a blend of intense fiery assaults and calculated strikes. Although he is competent with a blade, it is his ability to coordinate with his Burned Men that defines his effectiveness in battle.

Frenzied Assault: Mihr's connection to the Frenzied Flame grants him the ability to unleash catastrophic fire-based attacks. He can summon infernos, hurl explosive fireballs, and create waves of intense heat that devastate his enemies.

Madness' Reach: As combat continues, Mihr struggles to control the Flame's madness. The longer he fights, the more the Frenzied Flame's chaos overtakes him, causing his attacks to become increasingly erratic and dangerous. His internal struggle manifests in unpredictable and wild behavior during battle.

Ashen Resurrection: Through his Great Rune, Mihr has bestowed upon his chosen Burned Men a unique form of near-immortality in combat. They can continue fighting regardless of injuries sustained until the battle ceases, after which they suffer the full extent of their wounds. This ability allows his forces to persist through extreme battles but at great personal cost.

Mihr's Great Rune is a fragment of the Elden Ring corrupted by the Frenzied Flame. It embodies the chaos and destruction of the Flame and bestows the following powers:

Eternal Fury: Allies bearing Mihr's Great Rune are granted the ability to fight unceasingly. They continue to battle through severe wounds, only feeling the true impact of their injuries once the fight is over. This gift can be as much a burden as a blessing, forcing them to endure severe pain after the conflict ends.

Frenzied Bond: The Great Rune creates a connection between Mihr and his allies, amplifying the Flame's madness, but in return granting them additional strength for every soul connected, while still amplifying the Frenzied Flame's influence in each individual

Abilities: Mihr works best in a team, working alongside his servants he fights any who stand across from him, decent with a blade, his teamwork is what elevates him in combat.

The Flame consumes him, he can hold it back and resist the madness it brings to him, but eventually, the longer he focuses on combat the stronger the urge becomes. The Flame enhances him individually and drags his mind more and more into the realms of madness where it may take control entirely. He has the will to return, if barely, but usually at great cost to his allies, who sometimes become his victims.

His Great Rune grants his chosen allies the inability to die, they will fight no matter the injury until there is nothing else to fight where they are mortal once again and suffer the consequences of their wounds, whatever they may be.

Mihr, The Ashen was once a revered Demigod of the Greater Will, known for his fiery resolve and strategic insight. He hailed from a time when the Erdtree's light was undimmed and the Lands Between thrived under divine grace. As a champion of the Elden Ring, Mihr's strength and tactical prowess earned him the title of Lord of Mountaintops of the Giants, where he was entrusted with maintaining order in the realm of ice and stone. Officially that is.

In his youth, Mihr was a figure of great promise, a champion who stood tall under the light of the Erdtree and served with honor and dedication. As a youth, he gazed upon all that had been built before him and heard the songs and tales of his parents and their journeys, their conquests. He saw them and wept that he was denied the ability to join, he wept that he could not join them in the great histories. From this weeping dark envy and arrogance would seep into his soul. He gazed upon all that light of the Erdtree touched and thought he could do better. Going forth in secret, he left behind his family and went forth to engage the Frenzied Flame, he sought to kill a god, and for his hubris, he was cursed.

In a moment of pride and recklessness, Mihr was chosen to become a vessel for the Frenzied Flame. He stood before it, confident of his victory over the Vile flame he accepted it into his body and soul to lord over it for all time. What he thought was going to bring victory, only ensured his ultimate defeat. He had thought he was above the Frenzied Flame, that he was untouchable. He was not, and for his underestimation, the Flame began to corrupt and burn parts of him away.

As he tried to reject the Frenzied Flame, Mihr began to understand the gravity of his choice. The Flame did not merely enhance his power like he thought it would, but instead, it would drag his mind into the depths of chaos and madness. He had envisioned a glorious ascension, but instead, he was ensnared in a tormenting struggle against the Flame's insidious influence. Returning home he was punished, unspeakable things done to remove the Flame, but it was too late. Mihr was banished for his folly, exiled to guard the flame within the Mountaintops of Giants until forever more.

It is here that he holds back the Stars, perhaps in a fit of madness or a moment of clarity, he saw them as threats to his task. The risk of the Stars interfering, as well as other unworthy Gods, could see the works he sought to emulate destroyed, reduced to being naught but ash. He could not abide the idea, the very thought of another destroying everything he ever wanted. So he holds them back, to prevent them from being the threats he knows he is. A simple but immensely powerful binding was made, for as long as the Frenzied Flame burned the Stars would be unable to escape and reach the Lands Between, but should the Flame ever be snuffed, the Stars would be given free reign once more.

"In my arrogance, I sought the Flame's embrace. Now, I am bound to its eternal madness."
"The old world must burn to make way for the new. Through fire, we shall forge a new dawn."

"Madness is not merely a consequence but a path to the true essence of power. Embrace it, or be consumed."
"I was meant for greatness, but now I shall be the end of your ambition!"
"You are but a fleeting star; I am the eternal flame that burns within the dark!"

Marnon Misbegotten, Child of the Crucible, Warrior of the Wild Hunt
Class: Demigod
Player Location at Game Start: Leyndell, Royal Capital
Faction: Crucible Knights (the Wild Hunt)
Faction Location at Game Start: Worshipper's Woods and the Hallowhorn Grounds, Siofra River
Outer God Alignment: the Crucible (?)
Abilities: An ancient warrior-priest, Marnon not only can fight well but transform his body to do so. His fists become bear claws, his face a sharp beak, his back the spines of a porcupine. Anything that has lived as a beast in within him, and further, he can induce this transformation in others, pouring in the living energy of the Crucible to allow them to be one with all and all with one, as it was before there was Order. Mutation and life follow him; plants growing from the earth, animals bursting from the wood; fur and wing and horn from those who follow him. He has no Great Rune, it thrown aside as a limitation on his endless transformation. But because of that, he is never who he was before; each day he shifts into a new form, a new voice, a new face; the only consistency loyalty to change itself.
Lore: A child of Radagon and Marika, and twin of Merced Finger-Weaver, Marnon's curse was the opposite of his sister; not to be distinct from the world, but to be of what was and remained before and beneath the Grace of Gold. The energies of the Crucible, so long contained by Order, found their expression in him, born misbegotten; half-beast, chimeric and leonine. Marika could not bear to look upon him, as she could not her other visibly tainted children, and so flung him away to the underground. There, in the Siofra River, he learned from Great Spirits that all things might be conjoined, and were once united. His features, far from being defects, reflected only the most essential and beautiful truth of the world, precluded by the arrogance of Divinity to categorize, separate and thus control existence. Knowing that which rejected him to the true abberation, he found those who too remembered the true nature of creation, the Crucible Knights. Together, they honed their bodies and minds to once more access the everything all once was, and in doing so, Karnon transcended himself, tossing what his original form might have been and to fully embrace his birthright. The Shattering provided an opportunity, though Marnon tossed aside his Great Rune. No order would he be happy with; the aim was return to the primordial chaos, a world of untrammelled nature, a world of pure instinct, free from law and form and will.

MARNON'S GREAT RUNE:
A Great Rune rejected by Marnon. It retains naught but the power to keep one's form.
Shunned, banished, misbegotten. Why would Marnon ever wish to remain himself?

LEFT TWIN CAMEO:
A talisman depicting a young girl, unwary of the world. One half of a greater whole.
Reduces damage from spells when HP is low.
It was ironic that the siblings, opposite in every way, would share only the dream of convergence.

DROWNED RAAHLACH
FAR-TREADER
EMPYREAN OF THE DARK MOON
CAPTAIN OF THE COMPASS FLEET

Faction Location: Divine Tower of Liurnia
Player Location: Divine Tower of Liurnia

Abilities

Drowned Haarlach is a powerful sorcerer of Raya Lucaria, and uses various Glintstone, Frost, Full Moon, and his own school-- Captain's Sorceries. He is powerful enough to command the wind and the wave, allowing for his fleet to travel almost unimpeded by weather and shrouded constantly in a freezing mist that both obscures his trails and hinders his enemies. He is adept at reading the stars and is also a master shipwright, having drafted the plan for his flagship and building it himself.

In combat, Drowned Haarlach relies on his Captain's Ballastella, a sorcerous stave that he has modified to use as navigator's staff. The Captain's Ballastella has for a weapon's art Haarlach's Scythe, a modification of common Carian Blade spells that leaves a delayed trail of freezing explosions. It can also serve as a functional quarterstaff, an art Drowned Haarlach has not forsaken.

For spells, he prefers an upcast version of Zamor Ice Storm, Glintblade Phalanx, and the classic Glintstone Comet,. His signature spell is Haarlach's Dark Moon, which incarnates a nearly invisible Full Moon to strike his enemy.

Getting close to Haarlach is particularly difficult. Melee players are recommended to stack magic resistance, while magic players will be infuriated by his high magic resistance. He has multiple floating hops to reset his combat, and his phase transition version of Zamor Ice Storm is unblockable, but deals no damage but frost buildup and blinds the player.

Faith players have it easy: Drowned Haarlach has a weakness to fire, so staying back and throwing fireballs at him while doging his return projectiles means he should be a breeze.

In Drowned Haarlach's phase two, he covers himself with armor made out of ice, after calling his flagship's cannons to fire on the boss arena, blanketing it in occasional gouts of flame, lightning, and ice. Drowned Haarlach may stagger himself with his own attacks if you deal enough damage to him to make his ice armor chip off, leading to multiple free critical attacks, if you yourself are not killed in the bombardment.
Sorcery Scroll of Drowned Raahlach, given to magically inclined captains and navigators of the Compass Fleet. Contains the following spells:

- Compass Keelstrike: Summons a glintstone ship to strike all enemies in its path. Can be charged to prolong it's path.
Disdaining anything as un-nautical as walking, Drowned Haarlach developed this spell so that he may never be without a ship.

- Glintstone Jarcannon: Summons a glintstone cannon that fires exploding projectiles at the enemy.
Close study of explosive alchemy allowed Drowned Haarlach to turn great fortresses overseas into piles of rubble under his cannons.

- Glintstone Pillar: Summons a magical pillar underneath the caster's feet, blasting nearby foes with a shower of rock.
Spell meant to allow spellcasters to raise themselves above mist, allowing them a clear glimpse of the stars.

- Glintstone Ropelash: Summons magical ropes that attach themselves to two locations, arresting progress. Casting again while active snaps the rope in a viscous lash.
In ports around the world, it is not uncommon to see dockhands bisected by a snapped mooring lash. This spell recreates those tragedies.

Great Rune of the Shardbearer Raahlach.
It's blessing increases FP Regeneration and grants the power to pierce the dark with sight.
Lord Captain Raahlach prefers to sail by night, unbothered by obscured dangers.

Lore:
The second born of Radagon and Rennalla. His wild nature oft brought him disfavor in the Academy, but his royal nature meant that he was rarely punished. Indeed, though a quick study, he disdained Raya Lucaria, instead growing closer to his lord father. Lord Radagon returned his son's affection, particularly after Raahlach displayed a keen talent and interest in natural philsophy. They would oft be found far into the wild sea, undertaking fishing expiditions against the various monsters of the wild ocean, displaying their weekly catches with great pride, frequently gracing the family table, to varied response. They would create their own fishing gear, starting with simple lines and nets, and soon creating an armory of devices more fit to batter down castles than catch marlins and tuna.

It was there, on a midnight sail, that Raahlach first came into contact with the Dark Moon. And it was there that Radagon wearied him greatly with talks of the Golden Order. Having already fled the order of Raya Lucaria, Raahlach was not at all interested in joining another order. Radagon chalked it up to the moods of youth, which it was. And yet, it was also Haarlach's moon haunted dreams of an age of cool darkness, a dream of a thousand year long voyage into the unknown.

Time passed. As he matured, Raahlach spent less and less time on land. His great ship, the Zara Din, took him to every coast and every port. He was the scour of the sea, hailed as a hero by sailors and fishers for opening the bounty of the sea to them. He learned sorcery by battle, taking the secrets of frost sorcery from the knights of Zamor. If he could die alone, free and unbound, on a waveless sea reflecting his moon, he would die content.

And yet, he returned to land. For crusades. For war. For reports. Especially now that the Two Fingers knew that he was an Empyrean, and doubly wearied him with the careful preparation of Haarlach to possibly succeed Queen Marika. Laws, taxes, and ordinances-- many times did he flee Leyndell out of frustration.

So when Queen Marika ordered him to construct a great fleet to map the lands beyond the Lands Between, he lept with joy, apathetic that in the same decree she ordered his lord father to seperate from his mother. Indeed, so taken with his plans that he was almost totally unreachable with, as he would say, 'inconsequential affairs' (such as his family).

To Drowned Raahlach's neverending disgust, they finangled a Two Fingers onto his flagship, an inconsciable attack on his liberty. He dragged the appendage with him on his voyages, but in his moon sent dreams he slowly concieved of a plan to truely make him free.

He would need to return to the Lands Between.

Even so, their bond was deep, and when the shattering occurred it was to Miquella's cause that she devoted herself. Thus, as the Blade of Miquella, Malenia will cut down any who stand in the way of her brother's path to godhood.

is there a discord for this?

Godseviel of Blooming Slumber
Empyrean of the Bellflower
A young Godseviel stumbled upon Leyndell's order of Perfumers, respected apothecaries whose flasks and tonics would cure ailments and alleviate injury. What followed was mutual infatuation. Godseviel would be charmed by the order's usage of flowers and plants to make wonders, and the Perfumers would welcome an Empyrean Demigod to their ranks.

In the times before the Shattering, Godseviel's Florists would travel the Land's Between accompanied by Flower Knights sworn to the Empyrean. Collecting and Studying flowers, curing maladies of all sorts.

Every Florist seeks the same drought. One which can afflict eternal slumber, so that they might join their Dreaming Empyrean.
In another time, another place, these underground chambers would belong the the Dynasts of Mohgwyn. Here though, lie flowing fields of all manner of flowers. Miranda Sprouts and other floral beasts patrol side by side with those brave Florists who have manage the pilgrimage to their Slumbering Empyrean. A swamp of a deep, intoxicating purple dwells within the Depths, granting sleep inescapable to those who foolishly fall into its waters.

The most fervent disciples of Godseviel speak of a greater depth, a secret gleamed from the nectar of the greatest flowers. It is perhaps here where the Dreaming Empyrean lies.
An Outer God of Slumber and Dreams which has cursed the Empyrean Godseviel. Fervent zealots of the Golden Order claim that the worst of its Curse is Godseviel's pacifism.

The Empyrean Godseviel has been rumored to speak with Markia about the Bellflower, and the fields of Glovewort that it conjures. Upon the conversation's conclusion, Markia barred Godseviel from slumber, so that the Empyrean could dream nevermore.
Godseviel has been known to create and pacify Miranda Sprouts, an ability tied to the Bellflower's Curse. Godseviel has a supernatural attunement to flowers and Floral Incantations. It is said that flowers bloom where the Empyrean once stepped, and that those who imbibe the nectar of these flowers are granted blissful slumber.

Godseviel's Spear is a towering polearm, longer than the Demigod is tall. The Empyrean Godseviel loathes violence and has woven a concoction upon the spear that might let all who feel its point fall deep into slumber.

Godseviel's Greatrune allows the Empyrean Demigod the ability to enter and manipulate dreams. It is rumored that upon the receival of this Rune, Godseviel retired from Leyndell and has fallen into eternal slumber.
Child of the Goddess Marika and First Elden Lord Godfrey, Godseviel is one of the eldest Demigods, and the first Empyrean born of the Golden Order. It is perhaps a tragedy of the utmost, that Godseviel did not inherit Godwyn's purity. Cursed by the Bellflower, Godseviel would bloom flowers across the capital, unaware of the harmful effects that all these flowers could carry.

This ultimately culminated in disaster, when Blighted Miranda Powder would drift into the waters of Leyndell. The crisis that followed had horrified the young Demigod and it was both here and in the following meetings with the Perfumers that Godseviel's pacifism would emerge, much to the disdain of Godfrey. The First Elden Lord, disappointed with the martial weakness of his child, could only get Godseviel to 'wield' a polearm, which was in and of itself a Grace given miracle. Though, hidden away from all eyes, Godseviel would practice the spear to a point of mastery, all to honor the memory of banished Godfrey.

It was in the times before and during the banishment of Elden Lord Godfrey and his Tarnished, that Godseviel would take the reins of the Perfumers. Dubbing them Florists, the Empyrean would call on them to travel the Lands Between, to discover new flowers and their properties, so that every denizen of the Lands Between would be hale and hearty.

Godseviel's relations with Elden Lord Radagon have always been awkward, as one of the biggest supporters for the end of the war of the Erdtree and the Moon, Godseviel would be witness to the marriage of Champion Radagon and Queen Renalla, blissfully unaware of the former's eventual ascension to the throne of Elden Lord. But loves the Second Lords children dearly, viewing both sets of Radagon's descendants equally and without scorn.

The death of Godwyn struck hard, driving Marika to madness and many more to grief. While nowhere near the levels of Marika, Godseviel took Godwyn's death poorly, almost shutting down at the tragedy.
W.I.P. EXPECT CHANGES TO COME.

"Here Lies a Dynasty Damned."

Name: Cauldrul the Immovable, Guardian of the Golden, Leader of the Mausoleum Knights
Class: Servant (Godwyn the Golden)
Player Location at Game Start: Leyndell, the Royal Capital
Faction: Mausoleum Knights
Faction Location at Game Start: Tomb of Godwynn

Outer God Alignment: Outer God of the Twinbird

Abilities:
Strength and Endurance beyond Mortal Kin, Cauldrul stands unmoving in the face of danger to his Lord.

Equipped with Eclipse Crest Greatshield and a great Twoheaded Great-Hammer with which he hurls at his foes at range before it returns to his hands.

Able to teleport very small distances for combat.

Whenever a Mausoleum Knight engages an enemy, Cauldrul has the ability to take over its body and transform it into a facsimile of his own self. Though not as strong as his own self, due to the nature of the curse upon him.

Cauldrul knows instinctively those who enter into the Tomb of Godwyn and where they are, allowing him to engage those who would dare interrupt the Golden Lord.

Cauldrul's true strength is when it comes to defending his Lord, Godwyn the Golden. Due to his curse, in defense of his lord Cauldrul cares not for pain, dismemberment, or even death. To Cauldrul, all that matters is protecting his lord and slaying those who would harm him.

Lore:
Once, it was said Cauldrul served alongside Godfrey against Giants and Dragons, slaying enough to fill rivers and valleys with their corpses. Yet Cauldrul left Godfrey's service and entered into the service of the fresh born Godwyn upon a single glance of the child's visage.

Amidst all the Mortals that served under the Golden Lineage, none were of said to have more grace than that of Cauldrul, who's eyes shine like gems and who's deaths were short and unnoticed.

Throughout all of the Lands Between, Cauldrul was known for his two handed mace with which he tossed as easily as another might a stone, sundering armor, scales, and flesh in defense of the Golden. Too heavy for even the mightiest of Warriors, only one had the strength required to lift this enormous mace, yet only that one other could throw it as Cauldrul could.

For all the physical might and endurance of Cauldrul, none compared to the dedication and zeal with which he protected his Lord. He did not question. He did not hesitate. Defense of his lord above all else, such that it was cursed upon that only in defense of his lord shall his full might be unleashed. Such that it was, Cauldrul equaled the gods through dedication and zeal of his duty.

Cauldrul lead the Knights of Godwyn and made his legend the grandest during the War against the Dragons. It was said that no less than seven dragons attempted to slay Godwyn when the walls of Leyndell were breached, yet not one laid their dying life blood upon the young Lord. Such it was said, Godwyn took no wound unless it was from the enemy before him, as no enemy could dare linger behind.

During the Night of Black Knives, Cauldrul stood guard before the room of Godwyn yet knew not of what dangers lay for his lord. The protective knight only learned when he felt the grace leave his body at the same time Godwyn's soul perished. Such was the rage of Cauldrul, no stone was left unbroken in his pursuit of the Assassins.

With the dishonor of being unable to protect his lord and being unable to avenge him, Cauldrul lead the mortal defenders of Godwyn deep to the roots of the Erdtree, carrying the body of Godwyn upon their shields. Before the place of his rest, the Knights ceremonially decapitated each other, one after the other until the last knight fell dead, their heads laid atop Godwyn's corpse.

In Death did the Knights of Godwyn find succor, for vengeance and eternity to protect their soulless lord. To Elevate the Soulless Demi-God until Lordship as it should have been, such that it will. Such now walk the Mausoleum Knights.

Cauldrul the Guardian
Nary a merciful thought
Is held in my heart for a traitorous rat but
Spare me the loyal charade
There's plenty of plots 'twixt a Lord and his Subjects
A dudgeoned old dirge for a dynasty deathless
A trench full of tombs for the bloody usurpers
Here lie your hopes and your dreams
A choir of screams for your Elden Lord

Makkal The Fell Twin of Despair
Warlord
The Shores of The Lands Between (Caelid)
King of the Unbound

Chosen of The Boundless One

Abilities:

The Rhythm of the Void: Makkal, hands outstretched opens a rift to the boundless eternities pulling in his enemies within range of a flurry of open-palmed melee attacks. At the end of each flurry of strikes, Makkal pauses causing a small shockwave to eliminate from the attacks.

Temple of the Eternal Sea: Makkal grabs his opponent dragging them through one of his open rifts into an eternal sea of stars with a large eldritch structure at its center. Midrir's first mask shatters.

The Division between Soul and Spirit: Makkal vanishes into the sea appearing at the top of the structure where a single black sword is embedded into a gleaming white altar. The sword sucks in all light, a shimmering white light borders on its edge. Midrir becomes far more aggressive slipping in and out of rifts as each attack drains the FP from his opponent. His fury hidden by his second mask slowly beginning to crack.

Song of Silence: Makkal kneels head bowed as if in prayer. Then everlasting silence, magic cannot be cast, verbal incantations are lost to the void, spells fail, magic for a short period cannot even be conceived of within the presence. You feel the weight of eternity focus on you. an Eye opens.

Fear not what can Kill the body: Seemingly defeated, body ragged, black blood leaking from his body Makkals second mask shatters. Makkal abandons reliance on melee and begins rapidly using incantations, flinging black projectiles, throwing what appears to be a large stellar object, and opening a black sphere in the sky that sucks in all light.

But can Kill the Soul: The presense which was once felt becomes reality, a thing which cannot be described nor should ever be seen by mortal man makes a fraction of its boundless eternity truly known. Midrir cries.

Lore: Makkal once knew only war, raised in a time when peace was but a fleeting memory. His brother was his only true bond, together they were as one, playing together, training together, waring together. Their father in his ambition sought conquest unending through lands of reeds, plains of endless wheat, and seas of sand.

Makkal ever the dutiful son marched to war with his brother. His blade stained red with the blood of thousands, his men bringing kingdoms, and empires to ruin, with only dust remaining of their memory. Their people long forgotten, so thorough were their campaigns. Yet even Makkal and his brother were not spared from the follies of mortal men. A betrayal, for want of the love of another Makkal's brother, turned his sword on their fathers will. What once was one, a conquest like no other broke in twain. Brother against brother, loyalties tested.

Those who followed the Fell Twins forsook what was the plight of every man.
What was once bound in the flesh became flesh

A war was waged outside the lands between, armies were raised, territories taken, and levies mustered. What was once a golden crusade became two kingdoms. The land scarred, countless were thrown into mass graves, the war waged on. Each brother became more desperate, more willing to cast aside morality, and humanity. Yet it was Makkal who fell first into depravity. He committed the unspeakable and in doing so bestowed upon his brother a fate worse than death.

Staring into his eyes, as Makkal gazed upon the wretched form of what was once his brother on a sand-blasted battlefield he looked upon what he had become in horror. His men, and the men of his brother too were shocked, grief waged with regret and soon his wails could be heard echoing across the battlefield. His brother, his twin, was the glory of empire truly worth his flesh and blood, his men, his morality.

In his grief, Makkal committed heresy most severe. Taking his armies and the armies of his brother, they marched upon what was forbidden, treading sacred ground Midrir made to sacrifice himself, upon an alter of true divinity.

A call was answered.

Pity, taken.

and What was once divided was made whole.

Makkal to save his brother Agarsi fully in spirit sets foot on the lands between, wrecked onto the shores of Caelid his men set forth to attain redemption.

Gwydion, The Fey Lord of the Lands Between
Firstborn of the Golden Lineage

Player Location at Game Start: Leyndell, the Royal Capital
Faction: The Wyldian Court
Faction Location at Game Start: The province of Limgrave (Stormveil and Stormveil Castle)

Abilities: Gwydion is a known statesman and general. Taught not only by the Marika and the great Godfrey in the arts of rulership and combat by Marika and Godfrey respectively. But also the insightful knowledge by the Fairies of the land and it was that he was endowed since birth with insight beyond his age. But it is truly experience that has taught Gwydion the most as the eldest of the Demi-Gods. Seeing both the heights and the lows of the Golden Order and acting in lockstep with it all this time. However, as befitting of a demigod and the firstborn no less, Gwydion is endowed with abilities of great sort. Uniquely among the Demi-Gods is his penitent for trickery and illusion. Of twisting the world. Able to not only seamlessly change his form as he wills and turn invisible, but also to mold the land and perceptions of others with solid simulacra and spells that seem to have come to him naturally. Skills that only grew under the tutelage of the Fairies.

But truly it is this ability to travel and interact with the Fairies of these Lands Between that is his greatest gift. Seemingly able to follow the Trails of the Fey, Gwydion has so-far found no issues traveling. Able to move swiftly and safely along these trails all across the land. Courting the fairies for their favor and aligning them to the goals of the Golden Order with no issue. Gwydion truly is a paragon amongst the seemingly so often cursed Demi-Gods.

Upon becoming a Shardbearer and gaining his Great Rune. Gwydion's abilities have increased naturally, but not as much as it seemingly should have for the Anchor Ring. Instead his Great Rune allows him to nullify effects and magic not his own. Even the effects of the other Great Runes. As if the light of Golden Order and the Erdtree is twisted and pushed away in its presence. Often described as a far superior and more encompassing version of the Law of Regression Incantation.

Lore:
Born of Marika and Godfrey's Golden Lineage, Gwydion was gifted since birth with beauty and insight. Even amongst the Demi-Gods he was considered charming and knowledgeable beyond his peers. Only the precious lordling Godwyn was his superior in how beloved he was by the people and family. But still, as a seemingly blessed child amongst all his siblings he was dotted upon highly by Marika and Godfrey. Although notably disliked by Radagon upon his ascension to Elden Lord.

But that is later, in the future, for whence Godfrey still walked the Lands Between it was his Gwydion often in-toe. The young Empyrean learning much from the once Warrior, Hoarah Loux. And it was Gwydion that often acted as the softer hand in the governing of the peoples that Godfrey's conquests brought into the Golden Order. And it was during this time that Gwydion did what all sought impossible. He courted with the fairies. Mysterious but benevolent spirits of the land outside the purview of the Erdtree. Gwydion walked their trails, spoke their language, and courted them into working with the Golden Order. Something believed utterly impossible, anathema they were to it. For they are out of the purview of the Erdtree, such as the ancestor spirits to name a few. But they seemingly accepted Gwydion with open arms. Acting with the often chosen governor of the Golden Order. Keeping peace and prosperity within the conquered Lands Between.

And upon Godfrey's fall from grace and the banishment of the Tarnished, it was Gwydion who waved them off. The last of the Golden Order to see Godfrey before his travels Beyond the Fog.

And for a time all was right with Gwydion. Often acting governor for the provinces outside Leyndell. The prosperous Limgrave turning into quite a breadbasket under Fey Lord Gwydion. But it was with the death of his sweet brother Godwyn that turned the once bright eyed of Gwydion hard. It was his failure, his failure to weed out the conspirators that killed his brother, his failure that they escaped after doing the deed, and his failure that he was unable to talk Marika out of shattering the Elden Ring. For he was there through it all. Just one step Behind it all.

Now Gwydion gathers his resources and brings his court together. The Shattering War have begun. And it is a truth that Gwydion harbors that he will do what he must to bring an end to this Age of Shattering.

Remembrance of Gwydion, the Fey Lord, hewn into the Erdtree.

The power of its namesake can be unlocked by the Finger Reader.
Alternatively, it can be used to gain a great bounty of runes.

The elder Gwydion has seen and guided the Golden Order through it all. Said to have been gifted since birth with intelligence far beyond his years and possessing uncanny insight. What not is said is the squashed rumors of how a mysterious figure appeared at the bedside of young Gwydion and cast a cloak over the sleeping baby's cradle.

A Great Rune of the shardbearer Gwydion.
Its blessing heals all negative statuses, dispels special effects, and reveals mimicry in all its forms.

This Great Rune is known as the anchor ring, found in the center of the Elden Ring.

It's blessing and purpose twisted by Gwydion's spirit and purpose upon taking it. It's blessing should raise attributes of the shardbearer. But instead the anchor of the Elden Ring has been co-opted to act in opposition to the whole.

Helana
The Ever-Curious
Two matters are of the highest import: knowledge and wisdom.
Knowledge without wisdom is aimless.
Wisdom without knowledge is impotent.

Class: Empyrean
Start: Leyndell
Faction: Those who Bear Witness (The Witnesses)
Faction Home: A small temple upon seastacks, accessed by hidden ways from waystations serving the roads of the Lands Between

Alignment: The Primeval Current
Our fate is held by the stars. A simple statement, easy to believe, even true. The cosmos shifts, and with it our fate. Our fate shifts, and so do we. And yet, we change, and in turn so does our fate. Fate shifts, and around it, the cosmos. Look, there! The death of a star.

Prowess
If there is one thing war cannot tolerate, it is weakness, and in her youth Helana beheld the war of Lord Godfrey, as he marched upon Stormveil Castle. In remembrance of that moment, she trains, and hones the methods of war. Her favored weapon is not the enchanted blades of her lineage, for she bore witness in that moment to the shattering of steel. Nor does she trust the more exotic weapons brought by war, wood and stone too fallible in her eyes.

All of those, she trusts less than her own body, to break her foes by hand and foot, and shatter any arms brought against her. It is a duelist's style, less suited to the open battlefield, and against the most skilled her lack of reach makes it a challenge to close. Thus, she complements the style with always-loyal smithscript weapons, spirit ash evocations, and sorcery.

Of The Stars
Helana is rarely alone, in peace or war, for her fate is held by the stars. And for every luminous soul, for every mote of ash, even for every blade of grass in the Lands Between, there are more stars in the sky. Thus, is her perception of the Primeval Current.

In war, Helana can be found attended by crystallians, either by the evocations of spirit ash or otherwise. In motion, the hands of her ever-loyal Shadow, Lokir, can be seen, acting in the shadows to bring her will. And in peace, she speaks to those who look upon the world and ask of why and when.

There, is her greatest strength, for Those who Bear Witness may come from any walk of life, be they a vaunted glintstone knight or a piteous battlefield scavenger. These Witnesses learn how to ground themselves, to survive through fire and war, to find and witness the mysteries of the world. And finally, to care for those who saw too far before they were ready. Thus, the Witnesses are overlooked by most, wanderers who hide away within the shadows.

Of Order
Helana has taken for herself a fragment of the Elden Ring, the root rune found only in the eldest depictions, before Marika set into motion a crusade of fire. It is a rune of raw creation, which expresses power as matter limited by the bearer's understanding.

How strange, that a literal piece of the golden order, no matter how withered, would be unsuited for the battlefield. Or at least, so she says when asked why it has never been seen used.

Should it be used, the rune would have the purpose of reconstructing the bearer's flesh.

Born to the union of Radagon and Renalla, Helana found herself pulled between them when the union broke, and attempted to act as a bridge between her families. A task she was ill-suited to, and which would lead to a measure of distance from both.

And in that distance, she has gathered a following of her own. Of the mad, the lost, the nomads, scholars who looked too deep, prophets who saw what should not be seen, and more. For these, who find themselves cast out from order's embrace, she is a patron, to pick them up, and help them look still further.

It is a position she knows will lead her to her fate. To face the glimpse she witnessed at Stormveil in full fury, guided by grace. What better lever, to move the world?

Name: Gwendolyn the Silver

Appearance: A tall and lithe albino woman dressed in black light armour and black cloak decorated with silver filigree. She wields a wicked looking pair of shortblades dripping with the distinctive black fire of Destined Death.

A black and silver veil obscures her face, leaving only her white hair and silver-gold eyes visible.

Class: Demigod

Player Location at Game Start: Leyndell, the Royal Capital

Faction: The Silver Inquisition

Faction Location at Game Start: While much of the Silver Inquisition has been recalled to Leyndell in the wake of the Night of Black Knives, many agents are still on duty across the Lands Between (and beyond).

Abilities: An assassin by trade, Gwendolyn fights by leveraging her natural speed, dexterity, and affinity for the shadows against her opponents. As a protege of the Full Moon Queen, Gwendolyn is also capable of using ranged magical attacks to engage with opponents seeking to keep their distance, or to distract said opponents while she closes or evades engagement to set up an ambush at another time.

During an encounter with Gwendolyn it often seems as if she merges with the shadows, seeming to teleport between them by some trick of the star or moon light.

Often accompanied by her agents of the Silver Inquisition, Inquisitors and Assassins will assist her in battle if called upon.

Phase 1: Gwendolyn the Silver

Gwendolyn will engage the player at a distance with ranged magical attacks while keeping her distance from the player.

If the player approaches Gwendolyn too closely she will initiate a flurry of attacks with her twin short blades and then leap backwards. However as the battle takes place on an open rooftop, she will be unable to leap directly backwards if pressed too close to the edge, giving the player an opportunity to land a blow before she rolls away.

Once she drops below eighty percent health, Gwendolyn will begin summoning Silver Inquisition Assassins from the trap doors on the floor to attack the player from close range at regular intervals.

It is advised that the player keep an eye on the trapdoors so that they are not surprised by the Assassins.

Phase 2: Gwendolyn, Godwyn's Shadow

Once Gwendolyn is below fifty percent health a cutscene plays and the floor collapses dropping Gwendolyn and the player into the ruined royal apartments. Gwendolyn the Silver fights will usually initiate a fight by launching a magical attack at the player and then dashing towards them to initiate a flurry of blows with her blades.

Gwendolyn has a leap attack where she lands atop the player and impales them with her twin shortblades before leaping backwards off the player and disappearing behind terrain on the battlefield. The player is advised to destroy Gwendolyn's hiding places to prevent to narrow down the locations she will launch her leap attacks from, giving them time to dodge and land a blow before Gwendolyn retreats again.

If the player approaches Gwendolyn too closely she will launch a flurry of attacks before leaping backwards. If the player instead attempts to keep her at a distance she will repeat the same combination of magical ranged attacks and dash attacks.

Once enough of the terrain has been destroyed or time has passed, the sky will become fully dark and Gwendolyn will begin summoning magical area of effect attacks from the sky. This will be telegraphed by moonlight intensifying around the player. Do not dodge towards Gwendolyn or she will hit the player with a flurry of blows before leaping away, instead dodge to the side, giving the player enough time to approach and land a blow before she dashes away into the shadows.

While the (relative) darkness can make it hard to track Gwendolyn's movements, using a Sentry's torch or looking for the glint of moonlight off her white hair as she charges her area of effect attack will make this easier.

Lore: The second child of Queen Marika the Eternal and Godfrey the First Elden Lord, Gwendolyn is the younger twin of Godfrey the Golden. However as twins the two were not identical, with Gwendolyn's albino features marking her an imperfect offspring of the Eternal Queen, something which led to her being dubbed as Gwendolyn "the Silver" and all but ignored by her mother.

Seen as an inferior shadow of her literal golden child brother Godwyn, Gwendolyn was shunned by the wider court of Leyndell who kept their distance from her, whispering that in her was a touch of death. As she grew up Gwendolyn developed a moody and aloof personality, ignored by her mother and only being in her father Godfrey's presence so that he could teach her harsh lessons on how to fight and endure.

Alone of all persons in Lyndell it was her brother Godwyn that Gwendolyn was close to, his kind and sunny temperament making him alone willing to show his sister genuine love and acceptance. The two were known to be inseparable with Gwendolyn dismissively being labelled as "Godwyn's Shadow" or "Gold's Shadow" by members of the court and seen as bad luck by the public.

When the Erdtree came under assault by the dragons, Gwendolyn eagerly accepted the opportunity to prove herself by fighting the enemies of her family. Smaller and slighter than her brother, but having learned lessons in fierce combat from her father, she went to war. Knowing that she couldn't engage in head to head combat like her father and brother, Gwendolyn instead developed a combat style wholly her own. Developing a kinship with the shadows and the night, Gwendolyn learned to strike unsuspecting foes mercilessly from the dark.

Yet despite this growing talent for death, the young demigod was once again overshadowed by her brother Godwyn who not only defeated the dreaded Fortissax, but afterwards befriended the dragon, gaining invaluable allies for Leyndell and ending the war.

Returning home Godwyn was hailed as a hero even as Gwendolyn was unacknowledged for her contributions to the war effort, most seeing her merely as "Godwyn's shadow" and attributing her accomplishments to his direction and example.

Still ignored by those at court, even her mother, Gwendolyn sought to prove herself by travelling the newly pacified Lands Between, eventually settling in to study under Queen Rennala at the Academy of Raya Lucaria, her affinity for the night making her an apt student of the Full Moon Queen.

Returning home, Gwendolyn presented the Golden Order with a discipline merging the celestial magic she'd learned abroad with Golden Order Fundamentalism that she hoped would win her mother's favour.

When that too failed, she redoubled her efforts, dedicating herself to the removal of the Golden Order's enemies, forming an order of Golden Order Inquisitors and Assassins as dedicated to protecting the Golden Order as she was. Heretics and secret cults of all kinds fell at the blades of Gwendolyn and her Inquisitorial Assassins, often entirely unaware that they had attracted the attention of the Golden Order's defenders before being killed, and trophies of their destruction presented to the Eternal Queen and her court.

Despite these efforts to prove her loyalty and ability Gwendolyn was still seen as the inferior second child of the Golden Lineage. In fact, her own offspring with various consorts became known derisively as the "Silver Lineage" for they inherited her albinism and were in turn shunned as harbingers of death, leading many of them to prove themselves with service to the Golden Order as killers much as their progenitor had.

Indeed, white hair became associated with the Inquisition to the degree that members drawn from outside the Silver Lineage often dyed their own hair silver or white as an act of devotion or respect for their comrades and leader. So common was this that the Inquisition itself earned the sobriquet of the "Silver Inquisition".

In this manner time passed, unchanging, Gwendolyn in the shadow of Godwyn, the killer in the dark of night, as the Golden Order stretched into an immortal forever under the Eternal Queen.

Until the Night of Black Knives. Throughout her life, Godwyn had been Gwendolyn's greatest friend and ally, thus when Godwyn the Golden was murdered, Gwendolyn the Silver personally led the pursuit, ruthlessly striking down many of the assassins. Afterwards she took their weapons for her own, reissuing them to the Silver Inquisition, promising an ironic end for those who killed her much loved brother.

Seemingly driven mad with grief over the death of the only member of the Golden Lineage to love her unconditionally, Gwendolyn the Silver has succumbed to paranoia. Considering herself the regent presumptive in the wake of the Shattering, she holds court in Lyndell, whispering of purges, promising to truly be a harbinger of death who removes the disloyal and ungrateful, safeguarding the Golden Order with the very weapons that undermined it.

Gwendolyn the Silver is convinced that only the power of death can secure the next age.

-

To Do:
-Now that this is cleaned up, I'm rotating item descriptions in my head for later.
-Did an attempt at a boss fight guide for fun. I might be a shit encounter designer 🤷

Notes:
-I noticed that the Elden Ring Gods seem to like coming in pairs as twins and since Godwyn "The Golden" is one of the few canon gods to this game, I felt like playing in that space.
-Naturally I then felt like making Gwendolyn (it feels weird that I don't remember seeing this name in the game?) "The Silver" as a contrast, and making her a sort of mirror of her older brother. Silver where he is golden, shunned where he is loved, associated with the silver light of night instead of the golden light of the Golden Order.
-"Silver" is often considered inferior to "Gold", thus narratively her being eternally second place to the now dead "Literal Golden Child" Godwyn, which would give anyone Issues.
-For the "SIlver Lineage" bit, I'm sort of assuming that at least part of the Golden Lineage descends through Godwyn and decided that I had to mirror that as well.
-"So you're saying that the overlooked twin who was always in the shadow of her brother, her special ability now is to not be noticed?" i-know-writers-who-use-subtext.gif
-Rykard no longer exists, so we need someone to run the Inquisition of Golden Order Murder Assholes >: V

Ruthvyn the Bloody
Demigod
Leyndell, the Royal Capital
Patriarch of the Crimson Order
Master of Volcano Manor
Favoured Son of The Everparched Maw

Those few in the Lands Between who possess a particularly boundless hunger for power and blood may soon find themselves dreaming of the Everparched Maw, a foul Outer God of Ichor Spilt and Endless Thirst.

One blessed by this being will gain great strength in both might and magic as they are slowly twisted into something other. But in return, they are cursed with an insatiable desire for the lifeblood of all other living beings, an affliction that can never be truly satiated no matter how much is imbibed.
Although it has been some time since Ruthvyn has personally taken to the field of battle, he remains a talented warrior. His skill with his Blood-Dripping Blade cannot be dismissed, and thanks to aligning himself to the Everparched Maw, he now possesses several natural weapons that may be used such as his sharpened fangs and the talon-like nails that have grown from his fingers. His strength and speed, elevated due to the blessings of the Outer God, are truly formidable. So much so that he can cross a room and tear an armoured knight apart with his bare hands in the blink of an eye.

It is his skill with magic, however, that is his real claim to fame. Although he has long since abandoned the use of traditional Sorceries and Incantations, the ones given to him by the Everparched Maw, alongside other forbidden arts, are incredibly potent. From summoning great blades and scythes of blood to simply tearing the ichor free from the body of a foe and consuming it to heal his wounds, Ruthvyn has plenty of powerful spells to use in order to lay waste to his enemies.

But when the thirst grows too great to possibly resist or his physical form receives too much damage, he is forced to transform into a monstrous, bestial form. In this state, the intelligence and knowledge he had pursued and lusted over for so long are gone, and all that is left is a giant bloodthirsty animal that only desires to kill and feast without restraint.

His Great Rune grants him the ability to heal injuries taken in battle as he fights and maims his foes, their spilled lifeforce consumed and used as fuel to ensure that facing the demigod will result in a long and arduous affair indeed.
Born the eldest child of Radagon and Queen Rennala of Caria, Ruthvyn possessed an endless curiosity even as a young boy for the ways of magic and sorcery. A curiosity that would be well fed, thanks to his parentage and the great Academy of Raya Lucaria. There was always more to learn, and the young Ruthvyn endeavoured to consume every last scrap of knowledge that he could find as he ever so surely grew into a proud young man, adept with both sword and spell.

But no matter how much he learned and how long he studied, his hunger for knowledge never faltered. It only ever seemed to grow greater, like fuel being heaped upon a blazing pyre. Before long, not even the great libraries and teachers of the academy were enough to satisfy him. But fortune soon smiled upon Ruthvyn, for his father Radagon abandoned Rennala and returned to Leyndell to become Queen Marika's consort. Soon enough, the freshly ascended demigod followed after him in search of more, and beneath the shade of the mighty Erdtree he found just that.

His potent sorceries and swordsmanship were put to great use against the foes of the Golden Order, his skill winning him great renown as he stuck down any who resisted the will of Queen Marika. Not even the tough scaly hide of the ancient dragons could save them from his wrath during their war against the Erdtree, and many of the beasts found themselves slain before him.

As a reward for his efforts, Ruthvyn was given lordship over Volcano Manor atop great Mount Gelmir. But for all his glories and fame, none of it dampened his yearning for more. More power, more strength, more knowledge. Anything and everything he could find, that he could get his hands on. He withdrew almost completely from the greater world, devoting himself utterly to his desperate search to learn all that there was to know. Out of sight from the other demigods, no scrap of knowledge was off limits to Ruthvyn, not even the heretical and the forbidden. It was eagerly consumed all the same.

It was in the midst of this madness that the foul Outer God reached out to the demigod, and offered him the opportunity to become more.

Ruthvyn was never the same. The red hair that marked him as a child of Radagon began to fade, even as he grew in strength. But the endless lust for knowledge that had driven him his whole life had been drowned, overshadowed by something else. Something new. A maddening desire to feast upon others, to consume the gore of his enemies and sate himself upon their blood rather than eat and drink like an ordinary being. But no matter how many he killed and drained, the thirst never grew weaker.

Afraid that he would soon turn upon those loyal to him, Ruthvyn began to lure others to his domain, taking and kidnapping outsiders to drain them of their own lifeblood. When doing such grisly work alone was not enough he turned to his loyal followers, and eagerly they leapt to assist him. He inducted them into the cult of the Everparched Maw and formed his Crimson Order of soldiers, knights and beasts in mortal skin to carry out his will, and from then on ichor was spilled within the halls of the manor without end.

It was only with the death of his stepbrother Godwyn the Golden and the shattering of the Elden Ring that Ruthvyn finally deigned to reveal himself to the outside world once more, his anticipation of the bloodshed soon to come more than strong enough to draw him out from his lair.

After all, how could he possibly resist the chance to sup the blood of demigods?

Alarica the Slayer
Dragonborn Warrior

Class: Servant

Player Location at Game Start: Leyndell, the Royal Capital

Faction: The Progeny of Gransax (Subservient to Heavenly Command)

Faction Location at Game Start: Celestial Bastion, Consecrated Snowfield

Abilities: Alarica has earned a reputation as a fearsome and terrifying combatant, having indulged in her bloodlust in the Colosseums where she fought against heavy odds and never knew true loss. She strikes with both flowing grace and crushing force with her blades, and dances around despite the heavy armor she wears. She has killed so many Alarica has earned the moniker of The Slayer.

Though a warrior true, she will in desperate situations call on the Dragon Incantations of which she is a master as well, or the mighty lighting of her dragon lineage which she can channel directly. She has never used these incantations in the Colosseum though, for her pride in her skill with the blades makes using them feel like cheating.

She is well known to be respected by the people serving under her for how she respects them and stirs their hearts, and always fights beside them. She's also skilled as a general and can be quite eloquent as a speaker and a strategic mind, so long as her fiery temper is kept in check.

Lore: A conspiracy was hatched by a renegade group of Perfumers, to create an artificial Empyrean through the mix of their sacred arts and the use of dragon flesh, and through it gain power over the Golden Order.

Among all their creations, Alarica was perhaps their greatest. From the stolen heart of Gransax, they wished to birth what would one day be their new god. The names of these Perfumers are lost, burned from the records for their blasphemous actions. The conspiracy was all for naught, and their ends were torturous as examples.

Their creations were another story though. They were near human-passing and none showed signs of the height of power their makers hoped, not even Alarica. Marika in the end granted them clemency and declared these kin of dragons would serve the Golden Order.

Though beautiful at first glance, her body was marred by subtle dragon scales and her eyes were the stilted yellow like that of the followers of Dragon Communion, and so she covered herself in public. As time went on this covering went from fine clothes to the master-crafted armor she came to favor, and only a select few ever saw her without it on.

Born of a sin, she sought to prove her worth by blade and fury, and gained great fame in the Colosseum both through natural talent from dragon blood, hard back-breaking training, and an inner thirst for slaughter that needed an outlet. Though she has told not a single soul, in her deepest heart Alarica wished to one day stand as Marika's Elden Lord, even if it was atop a mountain of corpses.

In time she became a rallying point for the discarded dragonkin, the height of their kind. It was thus she left the arena to lead, and seek one who would host her kind and offer them a home. One with Perfumers to call upon who would allow them to continue their species, less the attrition of existence be a slow death for them.

It was this that lead her to Roshan the Astrological Archer. Seeing one not so tied to the laws of restricted research, she made an offer. If the Demigod would grant them the Perfumer craft to create and keep stable the kin of dragons that composed the Progeny of Gransax, she would devote herself and her men to his cause.

Seeing the value in these warriors and perhaps having some pity on their plight, Roshan agreed. What remained of the Dragon Perfumers and their reaserch was quietly gathered in the depths of the Celestial Bastion, and the Progeny of Gransax made their home in the company of the Demigod's home, and have served him ever since.

Item Descriptions:
Slayer's Beast Helm:
Heavy helm of fine craft, formed via a strange grey steel alloy. The iconic armor of Alarica the Slayer.

The bestial appearance of this mask became Alarica's symbol, even before she took up this helmet, for she never showed her face in public. The blood of dragons was too obvious.

Slayer's Gauntlets:
Heavy gauntlets of fine craft, formed via a strange grey steel alloy. The iconic armor of Alarica the Slayer.

The joints are given extra attention, less they inhibit hand movements at a critical time.

Slayer's Armor:
Heavy chestpiece of fine craft, formed via a strange grey steel alloy. The iconic armor of Alarica the Slayer.

Though the armor is notably heavier than many would wear, Alarica was able to move in it with the ease of a dancer. Perhaps this is because she never was seen without it on.

Slayer's Greaves:
Heavy greaves of fine craft, formed via a strange grey steel alloy. The iconic armor of Alarica the Slayer.

Alarica wore a concealing white robe when she first entered the Colosseum. When she took to wearing armor instead she turned what remained of that robe into this sash, but the cloth had long since been stained a deep red.
Horizon's Edge:
A fine-crafted katana of a strange grey steel alloy, used by Alarica the Slayer to carve open foes. Stories about of the great gouts of blood that soaked the Colliseum and the battlefield when this blade was swung. And of the mountains of corpses that marked her work. It is no wonder she earned the title of Slayer.

Skill: Slayer's Slash

An effect that creates a crimson blade extending out from the blade, boosting it's reach and damage. The blow is partly ethereal and cannot be entirely stopped by blocking. Causes notable bleed buildup.

Gransax's Claw:
A unique Twinblade used by Alarica the Slayer to deliver harsher heavy blows. It is unique among twinblades in that it is meant to be used one-handed as easily as two, and thus has a shorter back-blade to compensate. The blade seems to be carved from a single massive claw.

When Alarica set aside The Colosseum for the battlefield, she took up a heavier blade in service to Marika and her will. With the queen's blessing she armed herself with the very claw of her sire.

Skill: Gransax's Reach

A strike that teleports the wielder forward and stabs outward with a burst of crackling dragon lighting, excellent for closing distance and attacking all at once. Will also coat the blade in lightning for a time.
Dragonfury Seal (Sacred Seal):
A seal similar to one those partaking in Dragon Communion, but this formless drakeblood construct draws power on one's own draconic blood to empower it in addition to Arcane. Incantations grow in power the more draconic one has become, doubly so for Dragon Communion incantations.

Though the Progeny of Gransax were looked down on for their unnatural nature, the strength of dragons made them mighty. In time they saw the blood of dragons as it's own blessing.

Crimson Gladiator's Insignia (Talisman):
A talisman depicting two different blades crossed. An honor bestowed upon the dragonborn Progeny of Gransax who serve Alarica.

Greatly raises attack power with successive attacks.

Though born of unnatural ritual, the kin of dragons served with honor. So their leader wished to express the glory they had earned with a symbol of her own glory in the arena.

Peculiar Doll (Key):
A strange doll in strange dress.

There once was an abomination who had no place in this world. She clutched this doll tightly and wept, until the day a golden queen took her hand and told her she was beautiful.

In time, she would pass this simple doll on to a special child she called sister.

---

Abigail the Immaculate

Though the first and strongest of the dragon kin were born from small bits of Gransax's flesh as they cut their way inward, only two were formed from the legendary beast's heart. The mighty heart of a dragon is the core of it's power, thus it's use in Dragon Communion. The first born was Alarica the Slayer who was a symbol for dragon kin of the best of their kind, the peerless warrior who showed their full might. The second was the sickly child Abigail.

Born small and without the strength of their kin, or even the iconic dragon eyes and scales, it was briefly thought she was an absolute defect and would die soon, for even breathing was agony to her. But Alarica held her, and promised it would be alright, and begged and pleaded for the medicine to keep her alive. And with some convincing, the Perfumers coaxed her into health. The girl has followed the Slayer around since then.

Abigail looked almost human, if not for her white hair, and seemed to posses none of the innate power of the other dragon kin. But neither did she posses any of the innate rage or imperfections of their kind. Growing far slower than normal, she is even now still a child. Some have theorized that the strength and power of her dragon blood will appear at a later time, but none know for sure.

If Alarica is the strength and might of their present kind, then Abigail is the light and seed of the future. None know what she might become, but they see in her possibilities not yet seen. Still, it is far too soon to say. All that is certain is that any of the dragon kin, especially Alaica herself, would lay down their lives for her if need be.

is there a discord for this?
I'm going to put one together, I just was a little overzealous with posting this before the discord was ready. Very excited by the reception, so I'll try to get one up quickly.

I would like to note, for the Great Runes, try to think of the mechanical effect they'd have when used by the player. They can be more esoteric (Miquella's great rune enhances his charms and, in its broken state, can free you from them), but that's a good metric for what kind of effects they can have.

Also, we have a lot of children of Godrick, but not so many of Radagon. I'm going to be trying to balance out the number of each to some degree, so it'd be good to see some more children of the later unions.

Racyrus, Lord of the Eclipse
Heir of the Caria Lineage
Star Watcher
The Untouched of Glint

Class: Demigod
Player Location at Game Start: Leyndell, the Royal Capital
Faction: Order of the Eclipse
Faction Location at Game Start: Liurnia (Caria Manor)

Abilities:
-Combat: Racyrus trained under the mentorship of many of Liurnia's knights, earning acclaim for his speed in combat. While originally considering to wield a Warhammer much like his Father, Racyrus has thrown such ideas away and kept to the Caria traditions and wields a Glintstone infused Blade, emblazed with the symbol of the Eclipse, many claim that Racyrus is the greatest of Liurnia's Knights, something he denies with every opportunity.

"Eclipse Blade: The sword of Racyrus like many blades of Liurnia contains Glintstone, however unlike others, the Demigod is incapable of casting Sorcery and has worked to cast Incantations through the blade instead. Causing the Glintstone inside to shift it's hue to that of Twilight or of the Eclipse.

Racyrus crafted this blade in the dim light of his Eclipsed Moon, under instruction of his mother. He often thinks of those days before her grief overtook her senses.
"

-Incantations: While the path of sorcery eluded Racyrus, he found his calling in the art of Incantations, pioneering both Incantations of the Sun and Moon. Homage to his parentage, even as now he spurns Radagon and throws himself more into the ways of Liurnia. With the Incantations of the Moon such as "Moonlight Cleave" or "Lunar Arc" as his preferred choices. While the Incantations of the Sun, made to embody the Golden Order's champion are kept as reserve, it would take much for him to use "Sphere of Light" or "Shining Vow".

"Moonlight Cleave: made in honor of the Lunar Queen of Raya Lucaria. The light of the Moon collects and strikes with sharpened edge, cutting through foes.

Racyrus spent sleepless nights testing this method against the moonlight sorceries of the academy, it's final test was against a duel with his beloved Mother, the outcome of the match has become a little secret between the two that frustrates the historians.
"

"Lunar Arc: The blessing of the Full Moon is not something that only those with the talents of sorceries can claim, through the Arts of Incantations, it's power can be wielded and secure the caster from harm.

Racyrus crafted this with the ideals of his caring mother, who always stood ready to give him aid when needed, the shimmering cloak of moonlight it leaves behind has become a comfort in times when he is far from home.
"

"Sphere of Light: Unable to preform the sorceries of his family line, Racyrus searched for his own way to emulate one of the greatest spells of the Luner Arts. With the Sphere of Light, a ball of pure Golden light emerges from the caster and moves forward, exploding against it's target and bathing them in purifying light.

With Racyrus's disapproval with his Lord Father, the Incantation has bee left to be developed by the Order of the Eclipse's Schoolers. A much slower process then it would have been under the Demigod's own eyes.
"

"Shining Vow: Oaths have a deep power to them when uttered with true intent, finding the right words and conviction to say them has been said to give a soul the power to continue the fight with vigor unmatched.

Racyrus saw the creation of this Incantation as his masterwork to be given to his father, it was received coldly and only given a single word to describe it "Sufficient". This began Racyrus's realization of how his Father did not live up to the stories.

-Rune: Racyrus's Great Rune bestowed upon him, bears the power of protection. Creating an aura that prevents maladies from effecting him. Toxins and Bleeding cuts held no sway over any battle of his choosing.

"Through devotion, Racyrus fights for his homeland and dearest mother, no matter what."

Lore: Born of Radagon and Queen Rennala of Caria, Racyrus was born of the line and held himself to a high standard set by his siblings. Throwing himself into the studies of both magic and blade to earn the praise of his family, while considered a quick study in the arts of the blade, it was sorcery that he found himself lacking. His mother Rennala of course comforted the boy in his frustration, while Radagon seemingly had nothing to say of his son, continuing to look over the progress of his Other children.

Racyrus delved into the depths of the Academy for anything that he could learn to earn his father's approval, days turned to weeks which turned to months. Until Racyrus found what he was looking for, secrets of the movements of the Moon and the greatest Star of the Night Sky, the Sun. Sorcery still evaded his skills, but through trial and error, Racyrus created Incantations born out his love and hope of his Parent's legacy.

But despite his efforts, Radagon spared his son no second glances, no pride and only the barest of inclination of his Incantation's "Use". This combined with the abandonment of Queen Rennala for Queen Merika shattered the heroic image Racyrus had of his father. Leaving only bitter resentment and a drive to become better then his Father ever was. One legend states that he had nearly shorn away his red locks, only to be stopped by his dear mother, who even in her own grief, held the deepest love for her children and whished to see them love themselves the same way.

Of the Demigods, Racyrus attempted to emulate the best of the Caria royal lineage at every opportunity, even as the bitter feelings boiled beneath at his father. He still served loyally under the Golden Order, seeing it as his duty to keep Liurnia secure and serve as the voice for his mother Rennala amongst the other Demigods and champion their interests.

Of course as a Demigod Step-Child of the Eternal Queen, Racyrus needed to find his place withen the Golden Order, and thus he would create the Order of the Eclipse, his efforts to bring the ways of Liurnia's Knights into the Golden Order along with his continued development of Incantations, while also insulting the legacy of his Father as the Moon overshadows the Sun. The blatant favoritism of his homeland over other lands of the Golden Order has not gone unnoticed by some and has earned little favor from the nobles of Leyndell.

Ragnar, The Stormseer
The Ashwing Scholar
Star-Seeking Judge
Witch-Regent of Carian Manor

Class: Demigod
Start Location: Leyndell
Faction: Carian Knights/Alabaster Lords
Faction Location: Liurnia
Outer God?: The Crucible

Abilities
A Child of Rennala and Radagon, Ragnar is a Grandmaster of Carian Sorcery. Furthermore, Ragnar is extremely proficient at Gravity Magic thanks to his tutelage under the Alabaster Lords. Though frail of body and not an experienced warrior like his siblings, he is trained in the Storm Blade School of sword style.

In Battle, Ragnar seeks to slow down his foes with Gravity Wells and will lock them down if they are not careful. At which point he will continuously strike them with a flood of Glintstone Sorcery, Glintswords, and Meteors. However, if one can get closer to him, they can turn it around Ragnar and lock him into a close-range battle that is to his disadvantage. For in reality, his wings are Vestigial. A Remnant of the days he spent with the Ashes of the Stormhawk King and the punishment dealt upon him by Marika in retaliation. His speed and agility are poor and he cannot fly away from danger.

When locked into close-quarters combat, he will wield his own style of Storm Great Blade. Combining his Carian Sorcery with his sword style to wield a tremendous comet/glintstone magic greatsword.

When all else fails, and he is pushed to the brink, he will call upon the last gift of the Stormhawk King and the power of the Crucible. Transforming him into a Great Eagle with feathers made out of Crystal, and his wings restored to their former glory. In this form, his Gravity magic is no longer used offensively, as all of it is used to help him fly. The lost of his staff also also reduced his offensive spells to only the most basic of glintstones and carian swords. This is more than compensated by gaining the body of an immense bird who can divebomb, smash and kick his foes to death.

His Great Rune allows him to call upon Renowned Ashes with their full intellect and memories intact. Allowing him to receive their wise counsel and intelligence from those who agree to serve him.

Lore
A curious child from birth, Ragnar enjoyed learning from both of his parents. His father's tales about the Golden Order were exhilarating in the wider world it painted, while his mother's lessons about the Moon prickled at his desire to uncover mysteries. However, despite his genius, he was never able to grasp Miracles nor was he able to manifest a Moon. Privately many in Caria saw of him as a disappointment.

When Radagon left Rennala for Marika, Ragnar seized on the opportunity to spread his wings and left alongside his father. He was made the Chief Judge of Leyndell's Court and he eventually became renowned as both a traveling judge and scholar. His works on the various beliefs and practices of the various tribes, cultures, and peoples of the Lands Between are still famous to this day. While his cosmopolitan understanding of his Stepmother's people made him a popular symbol of justice.

Yet among many fanatics of the Golden Order, whispers abound of him sympathizing with heretics, if not outright consorting with heretics in primitive rituals. But he paid such talks no heed.

Eventually, his curiosity would get the better of him, however. In Limgrave he dug too deep and uncovered the Ashes of the Stormhawk King and the history of the Storm Lords who once ruled the region before Godfrey led the Golden Order's conquest of the region. He quickly became friends with the Spirit of the Stormhawk King, from whom he would learn the truth about the Crucible and be taught its secrets.

The two friends wished to fly and find freedom together, and thus they enacted a ritual to grant Ragnar wings of his own. They succeeded, but the scandal of a Son of Marika, and Judge of her Court openly dabbling in the art of the Crucible and mutating his form like an Omen of old was too much. The Golden Order's Inquisitors soon captured Ragnar, and Marika ordered his wings to be burned beyond recovery, cursed to never truly fly again.

His life would be spared, but for the rest of Marika's reign, Ragnar would be exiled to Carian Manor to become it's regent with Queen Rennala's fall to insanity. The little Raven who had wanted simply to be free to learn was stuck with all the consequences of his deeds. From then on, he recused himself in Carian Manor, busying himself with his research and taking care of his mother.

Until the Shattering.

If there is one thing war cannot tolerate, it is weakness, and in her youth Helana beheld the war of Lord Godfrey, as he marched upon Stormveil Castle.
I'm not sure this quite makes sense in the timeline. If she's a daughter of Radagon and Rennala she can't have been alive while the Carians and Leyndell were at war.

MARIAN OF THE SEA

Class: Empyrean
Player Location at Game Start: Leyndell, the Royal Capital
Faction: The Deepwater Temple
Faction Location: Uhl Palace Ruins

Outer God Alignment: The Porcelain King
The Porcelain King was an slumbering, ancient Outer God, awoken and broken by Marika early in her reign. His living followers were driven to the shores of the Sea of Fog and drowned in its depths. But some claim that the his voice whispers in the waves and that one day a Porcelain Lord will hear his babbling in the brooks...

Abilities: Marian is a master scholar of faith, most notably having written the Porcelain Prayerbook, created the Marian Seal, and developed a school of incantations drawing on the use of water amalgamated with ancient bubble sorceries. Marian's Great Rune allows him to flow like the sea, increasing his speed vastly and allowing quick travel across the waters. Since his tutelage with the deep witch, the great rune has grown damper...

Lore: Marian was born to the union of Marika and Radagon, second-eldest of the pair behind Messmer. And much like his brother, Marian too was cursed at birth. It's said that as a babe, young Marian entered the world squalling and tempestuous. Only when Marika brought him to the sea and rocked him did he settle, his eyes not on his mother but on the sea. It was then that Marika first noticed the flecks of seafoam green in Marian's left eye.

From then on, Marian was never far from the sea, though from the safety of shore. There, he cared for the creatures of the sea, most especially the turtles whose meat he refused to eat. Perhaps for this reason, he was steadfast friends with wise Miriel. But Marian's time on the coast was not purely for fun and comfort; there, he met in secret with his mentor, a witch from the ocean depths. Though he never spoke it, she knew the visions of fire that haunted Marian since birth, a vision of a world destroyed in flame. And she knew that only the ocean offered comfort. Through her guidance, Marian learned of the Porcelain King and developed the incantations contained within his Porcelain Prayerbook. When at last it was done, the witch swam back deep down into the water, never to be seen again.

As a young man, Marian was known to be calm, wise, and studious in his study of the Greater Will. So much was his love for his mother and her Golden Order that Marian was regarded as a true Empyrean, chosen by a set of Two Fingers and given a Shadow to guard him. But when at last he revealed his own prayerbook and findings, he was met with suspicion from the zealots of the Golden Order. Out of fear, Marika likewise had Marian's left eye sealed, sewn shut with golden thread.

Forbidden from open study, Marian returned to secrecy. But now, he had inspired various thinkers to join his cause. Assembling what became known as the Deepwater Temple, scholars would assist Marian in probing the fundamental truths of the world. In quick order, the Deepwater Temple proved heretical, drawing upon the Porcelain King's faith through Marian's inadvertent influence. This influence coalesced with archaeological studies of the claymen and their ancient dynasties. On the banks of the Siofra River, Marian was possessed to draw a sigil in the soft clay, a sigil which would form the foundation of the Marian Seal and represent the Temple's heresy.

In time, Marian was convinced of a new, fundamental reality. The world built by the Golden Order was destined to burn, the flames sparked by enemies within and without. And only an Age of Water could quench the fire, only an Age of Water could precede the rebuilding of the Lands Between, and only Marian knew of this grim future. Privately, he wished he was wrong but conviction filled him nonetheless. If he could not save the Golden Order, he would at least be prepared to salvage it.

When Godwyn was slain in the Night of Black Knives, Marian mourned deeply for his beloved half-brother and for his mother too. And within himself, he questioned: is this the beginning of the destined conflagration?

I'm not sure this quite makes sense in the timeline. If she's a daughter of Radagon and Rennala she can't have been alive while the Carians and Leyndell were at war.
That's meant to be a reference to the later war against the Storm Lord at Stormveil Castle, which to my reading of the timeline was a separate and later war from the ones against Liurnia.

Oh, yeah, I got mixed up because of the mention of sorcery swords and the like. You're all good!

Spirit Tongue Viatrix, Grand Archivist

Appearance:
A tall woman with golden hair mingling with ashen silver, wearing a white dress with golden embroidery and golden jewelry. Worn around her waist is a belt laden with intricate bells and sacred tomes. She wears an engraved golden mask in imitation of the features beneath.

Class: Demigod (Daughter of Radagon and Marika)

Player Location at Game Start: Leyndell, Royal Capitol

Faction: The Scholar-Knights

Faction Location at Game Start: The Grand Archive, a vast fortified library established along the road to Leyndell leading up to the Grand Lift of Dectus in Liurnia

Outer God Alignment: N/A

Abilities:
Blessed with the ability to commune with the Spirits, Viatrix can summon various weapons of fallen champions, alternating between fighting styles, as well as summoning Ashes to fight beside her. She may also utilise bolstering incantations to strengthen her summoned Spirits.

Her first phase consists of summoning and bolstering Spirits, with minimal direct attacks. However, upon achieving sufficient damage to trigger her second phase, she will engage directly with spirit weapons and more aggressive holy attacks, rapidly switching between fighting techniques.

Upon defeat, she drops her Great Rune, which boosts the number of Spirits that can be summoned as well as slightly increases faith, intelligence and arcane. Her Remembrance may also be used to acquire either a semi-corporeal greatsword or a heavy mace, imbued with spirit ashes.

Lore: Born to the union of Queen Marika and King Consort Radagon, Viatrix was a child who seemed gripped between triumph and tragedy. From birth her curse was apparent - a body gripped already by death, passing between the realm of the living and that of spirits, sometimes corporeal and at other times intangible, sometimes even outright disappearing before returning to physicality by sheer strength of will. She was an uncomfortable reminder of the death that the Golden Order had sealed away, and though not cast out, her mother Marika kept her at a distance. Viatrix, seemingly half exiled from the court as she was halfway parted from life, found comfort in learning, eagerly wandering the libraries and archives of Leyndell and learning the ways of a scholar.

With a unique connection to the Spirits often only she could see, she was tormented in her youth by an inability to aid her fallen companions. However, she also learned much, becoming both a pupil of Radagon and several fallen champions who had sought rest in her shadow. In time, she was known as a skilled user of incantations and of summoning Spirits, and learning from her beloved father Radagon had become a keen scholar, seeking to learn from the past and use that knowledge to strengthen the Golden Order.

In time, she was rewarded for this effort by Queen Marika with the title of Grand Archivist, and travelled the realm in pursuit of both knew spirit ashes to commune with and fresh knowledge to archive, interviewing even the lowest peasant in her pursuit of a full understanding of the world. At her side she gathered a retinue of Scholar-Knights gifted in communion with the Spirits who had mastered forgotten battle arts, whose task it was both to seek out knowledge and defend it.

Of course, that is when tragedy once again mingled with triumph.

The Grand Archive was soon established, and though Viatrix's desire was for this accumulated knowledge to be made available for all who visited, access was soon sealed by joint command of the Queen and Elden Lord to only those deemed worthy by their judgement. It was a command that alarmed their daughter, and marked the beginning of a rift between her and her royal parents.

It is said that a lover of Viatrix chose willingly the fate of a Spirit, forfeiting her life to serve the Grand Archivist. For this, her beloved Knight received the honour of Erdtree burial, and remained a close companion to the Grand Archivist, though it is said that Viatrix could never bear to summon her fallen lover in combat.

Perplexed by Marika and Radagon's unwillingness to share the wisdom of the Golden Order, Viatrix was compelled to investigate, dispatching her Scholar-Knights now on missions of secrecy and pursuing the secrets of the Golden Order that she had clearly yet to truly uncover.

And that is when she glimpsed the skeleton in her parent's closet.

In the wake of Godwyn's death, she has withdrawn her Scholar-Knights to the Grand Archive, and has been something of a recluse in Leyndell, a great change from her once outgoing nature.

For she has seen the truth of the Golden Order at last, and recoiled.

Relations with other factions:

Despite lacking any particular ill will for her father's previous wife, the Grand Archive, sat within view of the Academy of Raya Lucaria, soon developed a fierce rivalry. Dissenters were encouraged to join the Archive and share their wisdom, leading to the development of rival schools of Glintstone sorcery to the Raya Lucarians. Though perhaps less potent without access to the Academy's deep knowledge, the Archive's spells benefitted from a mingling with the ideas inherent to the Golden Order's incantations. Duels between sorcerers and Scholar Knights of the Archive had to be expressly forbidden, first by the Grand Archivist and then again by the Queens of Caria and the Erdtree, following several brawls and even deaths. Rumours abound that at least one Scholar-Knight was outright assassinated while staying in the town of Sellia.

Viatrix enjoyed a more amicable relationship with her older half-brother Godwyn. As a child, she delighted in his tales of dragons and was even permitted to experience flight atop her brother's companion Fortissax. The death of one of the relatives who had showed no disgust at her curse brought the Grand Archivist no small measure of despair, and a public request for any knowledge that might restore the murdered Prince to life was sent to all corners of the Lands Between from the Grand Archive.

Pepin Haight
Lord of Castle Haight
Servant of the True Order
Repudiator of the False

Appearance:
Like the rest of his family, Pepin bears the prized features of the capital's nobility, with pale skin, golden eyes, and fair hair. Beneath his carefully styled hair, grown long in imitation of Godfrey, lie fine features often pulled into a mask of cool disdain.

Class: Warlord

Player Location at Game Start: Castle Haight, Limgrave

Faction: Compact of Limgrave (Sovereign Alliance/Golden Order aligned)

Faction Location at Game Start: Limgrave

Abilities: A great banner of gold, lovingly embroidered with the symbols of the Erdtree and Golden Order. Waving it energetically to and fro bolsters the resolve of nearby allies and increases their attack. Less of a weapon than a marker of allegiance and symbol, the heavy golden pike that bears it can still be utilized to bludgeon an enemy.

Pepin bade the lords of the compact swear their oath upon his personal banner, whose design demonstrated their shared zeal, but also signaled his own ambitions.

- Banner of the Compact

An incantation of the crusade's golden knights, often given before battle is joined. Recite the words to rouse the zeal of allies and draw the ire of foes alike. The longer one speaks, the greater the effect.

The only vows of substance are those writ in blood. So claimed Pepin, who wrote a testament of eternal loyalty to Queen Marika in his own.

- Erdsteel Vow

Lore: The Haights are not native to Limgrave, but accompanied the legendary Lord Godfrey in his conquest of the land, and for their service were awarded a fortress and lands in the east, part of the crop of Erdtree lords planted to become the new rulers of the land, their castles looming over its denizens. Closely tied to the Golden Order from their earliest days, they strove to outshine all others with their zeal, raising temples, spreading the faith, and crushing the defiant. Ever existing in the shadow of the Golden Lineage as Castle Haight lay within the shadow of Stormveil, they nonetheless were able to build a strong influence in Limgrave over the course of the long peace, donations to temples and Haight priests reaching beyond the confines of their own lands. These ties of faith only grew ever more important with the growing tales of heteredoxy, rebellion, and murder across the land.

Lord Pepin came to his seat as a young man, as his father abdicated his lordship in order to join the Golden Order in the capital in contemplation of the higher mysteries. Energetic and ambitious, seeking a way to gain the confidence of his peers and subordinates, and alarmed by news of disorder and death, Pepin called together a conclave of his fellow lords of Limgrave on the shores of Lake Agheel. There, they vowed to cease all attacks upon one another, to resolve their disputes by means of consensus, to treat an attack by outsiders upon one as an attack on all, and to uphold the Golden Order and the peace of Queen Marika by force of arms. Most importantly of all, Pepin was able to position himself as the Compact's primary advocate and de facto head, successfully arguing of the need for an organized structure and clear leadership, making the Haight's loose prominence within Limgrave a true legal writ.

For now, the Compact's members have so far been content to play at being soldiers, using its meetings as a vehicle for dynastic ambitions and the trading of favors rather than serious campaigns, though the younger and more radical among them yearn for a true fight to test their mettle. Pepin himself spends his time in religious contemplation, hours of prayer with his peers and discussions with representatives of the Golden Order, searching for a clear sign as to his next course of action even as he makes sure to participate in the base business of haggling.
