This won't do anything to debug it, unless you're being really literal about debugging here.

Cuffband

All right, we're looking for an opposed roll - your persuasion against her sense motive! Let's see if Red can follow your story and if that gets you out out of being shot

She got a 16!

EDIT: That'd be 2d10+3!

Fast Talking and Faster Friends (4.0)
Your brain was going at escape velocity - and not of one of the piddly little asteroids, it was going Laturr escape velocity, easy. You gulped, your throat dry. "Well, uh...I did a quick little bit of work is what I did. I led a strike team to capture a USAF frigate that had been taken by some real nasty people - Ketherics, the kind of people that I don't think Uncle Sam would be too interested in letting tool around with. We took it, and flew right outta Mardok with it, me and my crew, all like that. Didn't lose a single one of us, and we captured all the Ketherics too." You nodded. "Well, all the Ketherics on the ship, there were some others on the planet."

Red frowned. Her pistol fidgeted as she narrowed her eye.

You wondered what was going on in that dangerous brain of hers.

You tried to keep calm. And also, think of the best way to draw a tourniquet in a hurry.

"Any idea where the Ketherics got a USAF frigate?" she asked, her voice even.

You blinked. "No idea, honestly. Kinda trying to figure that out."

"But you haven't yet," she said, firmly.

"...yeah..." you said.

She smiled, slightly. "Well. You just did your country a real service. We've been trying to track down those ships for a while now."

"We?" you asked.

Red grinned at you. The light didn't quite reach her eyes, but...she might have been dangerous, but you didn't hear a lie in her voice. "My real name's classified. But my bosses work in Techchtitlan City 2..." She looked right into your eyes...and you slumped against the wall. Arms crossed. Scowling.

"You're a goddamn spook," you whispered. Like Raphael, but worse.

"We prefer the term operators," she said, grinning. Again, no light in the eyes. "And you...you're a captrooper, right? Former?"

"BT," you said.

She nodded, and immediate decision came into her face. "Some ships were stolen from a dockyard we have in the Tears - three frigates, fours barques, and several skiffs. That's not an insignificant number of atomic rockets, you can guess. And wouldn't you know it, one shows up in your hands, and you say, you stole it from the Ketherics. Now, while the current administration is...pretty opposed to the Modronist government on Hetes..."

You snorted.

"...doesn't mean we want a bunch of loons like the Ketherics to have atomic rockets stamped with made in the USL on their drive cones, now do we, sparky."

"Karlach," you said, frowning at her.

Red's smile grew cadaverous. "How'd you like a fraction of a fraction of the bloated, runaway military budget to end up in your bank account, Sparky-Lach?"

You frowned even more. Your arms slowly shifted to cross over your chest. Gentle. Slow movements. She was still aiming that 9mm at your crotch. Your chin lifted slightly. "Are you saying the CIA...would want to hire us?"

She smiled and nodded.

"To find a small fleet that some Adventurers stole out from under the USAF's nose?" you asked.

Red chuckled. "To be fair, when you say it like that, sparky, you can see whyyyyyy we wanna keep it so secret." She wiggled her eyebrows at you. "So, what do you say?"

"Will you shoot me if I say no?" you asked.

The crowd was starting to disperse out of the alleyway. Your crew had to be looking for you. You felt a cold chill run along your back at the idea of what Lae'zel might do if she saw this. Or what Red might do if she saw, say, Wyll. Wyll Ravensguard. The son of a frigging senator that was probably bankrolling a good chunk of the CIA. You tried to not let any of that show on your face as Red chuckled quietly.

"Sparky!" she exclaimed. "Me? A...a CIA operative just shooting a USL citizen? In USL territory?"

"We're not in USL territory," you said.

She giggled. "True, true, true, so, what do you say?"

Well, it's a bit strange, but taking ships out of the hands of the Kethrics is probably just a good thing to do in general, and the USL doesn't seem that bad.

All right! Persuasion, diff hmm…I did a lot of thinking and i have to say DC 20. Also if you fail, Red is going to try and shoot you, so decide if you want to spend any of your luck.

All right, so, roll 2d10+3 and if you fail, roll again with 1d10+13!

Like, it's still not a great shot, but don't worry, even if she wins the ini roll and shoots you dead, you can always survive thanks to the mechanics I've bolted onto D&D, cause I'm so fucking smart.

The Silent Giants Rulebook said:
SURVIVE ANYTHING - if you are in a terminal situation, you can zero out your luck pool to survive it. Doesn't matter what it is. A-bombs, bleeding to death, left for dead in the vacuum of space. You only die if you choose to (or if you have 0 luck points and then get flung into a terminal situation.) You and the GM should work together to figure out how your character survived. After all, you are friends who both want to have fun, who are engaged in creating a shared narrative space - treat this as an excuse to spin the story off into fun new directions!

The Red Second (4.1)
You licked your lips, thinking quick. This was a way to maybe get another handle out of here - something more solid than just Raphael. You grinned. "Tell you what, some of my crew got some illegally modified tadpoles stuck in our heads. You do something 'bout that and you have a fuckin' deal," you said, stepping in close.

Red's expression shifted. Her brow furrowed. Then...pure rage exploded in her eyes. "God...damn. Gods fucking damn it! Fuck! Fuck! Fuck!" She jerked away from you, turned back, walked a few feet away, then walked back. She was putting one hand on her temple, her other swaying the gun around like crazy.

Okay.

Uh.

Maybe that had been-

She aimed the gun at your face again. You froze.

"You just fucking had to keep fucking talking!" she said, furiously.

"Whoa, Red, uh-"

"See, Sparky, if you had just shut the fuck up, I could have gone on my merry way, sent you to Hetes to get fucking killed by the Keths, bing bang boom, everything's nice and neat on the report. They cast truth spells on you, you moron! If I didn't know, I wouldn't know, but now that I do know, I have to know, you fucking...because, no, no, no, you're not just fucking astros, are you!" You could see her eyes blazing. "Are you!?"

"...wait, get us killed?"

"The ships were meant for the Ketherics, you stupid fucking tiefling bitch!" Red hissed. "It's very fucking simple! Squids buy bodies! We give em bodies! We give them bodies we want to get fucking rid of! They pay big fucking bucks, big fucking bucks that don't have to fucking go through a goddamn appropriations fucking committee! Those bucks buy ships! Then...ah, fuck!" she shook her head. "But you're the payment, I can't just...get you all fucking killed, fuck, fuck, fuck!"

You blinked. A slow...fizzling connection was starting to tingle there, in your brain. "What?" you asked, slowly.

"Just, just...just...I'll figure this out, sparky, just, shut up," she said, biting her lip.

She was looking away from you, but her gun was still aimed at you.

And you saw it.

Her figure this out was settling onto her face.

She was going to shoot.

You moved.

She fired.

---
[ ] The bullets hit your belly and thigh. You can keep going through the pain (take Gutshot and Femoral Bleeding, but stay in the fight)
[ ] Something hits your chest. Hard. Everything goes black. (Zero your luck to survive a lethal situation and wake up later.)

Mechanics for Gutshot: Make a death save every 10 minuets, requires 8HP of healing all at once to fix or a DC15 medical check
Mechanic for Femoral: Make a death save every ROUND, requiring 12HP of healing all at once to fix, or a DC20 medical check.

You know, I just noticed, these are very similar mechanically, save one is worse...but, fuck it, you can double up. (They're both valued at different amounts of Luck Points restored - gutshot restores 4, femoral bleeding restores 6!)

Red rolls 16 for her bluff check!
Karlach rolls a 16!

Ties break for PCs!

Normal ini is rolled!

Red: 16
Karlach: 11

Red starts her round by firing three rounds into Karlach. Her recoil is 7, her proff is 3, and her strength is 12, so that's a total recoil of 3, dropping d20 to d12 to d10! She rolls a 4, 12 and 11! Karlach has no cover, so she's looking at an AC of only 8, so that's a miss and two hits! Red does 1d4+4 damage, dropping 7 and 8 damage, bringing Karlach to -1 and then -9 Luck.
