It's been a while since you felt this way, hasn't it?
You closed your eyes, allowing the gentle heat of the sun to wrap you up like a blanket, letting the wind carry the entirety of your breaths, and giving yourself the pleasure of sinking deeper into the soil on your back, crunching crisp leaves more thoroughly than you already had, the little pieces acting as your cushion on the floor of your backyard.
God, what a thought.
Your backyard. Not your parents, not your friends, not your mentors. It was yours, and it was hers.
As if you could ever forget the woman resting her head on your chest, her charming snores giving away the fact that she was just as relaxed and content as you were.
A few tears ran down your eyes at the thought, melting into her hair where you laid your chin, a boundless happiness filling up your heart like nothing you had ever experienced before. All the tension inside of her, brought by the long decades and the ceaseless strife, were slowly coming undone, and feeling the change in her body let the knots of stress in yours, so old that you forgot they were even there, unravel as well.
It was over. It was finally over.
Every enemy before you has been subdued. Every life changing disaster and winding apocalypse has been defused and avoided.
Everything you needed to do, that the world expected of you, was done. You paid the price of your peace, and now it was time to reap the reward and your repose.
There were still evils and dangers in the world, of course. There always would be. But they were all well within the capabilities of your lessers and your peers who weren't as tired of the life you led as you were.
All you could hope for was that this was truly the end, at least for a good, long while, so that you can enjoy this new period in your life, enough to rejuvenate the soul you sometimes doubted was there in the first place. Live the life you never wanted growing up, but which was now your most coveted dream and desire. How things change as the wheel of time turns.
You were known by many names throughout your adventures. Bergamot the Dragon Sorcerer. The Heir Apparent of the New Deòir Dynasty. The Ankou of America. The Warden of the Vault of Magic. The Oracle of What Was, What Is, and What Will Be. The Divine Appraiser. The God at the Gate. And no doubt you had many more, and variations thereof, from many cultures and many individuals. You treasured your titles, and the people who gave them to you, grateful with all of your being that you were held so dearly and in such esteem by so many, but at least for now, you wanted to be known by fewer, more simple terms, and excel in them.
Son. Brother. Friend. Fiance, and eventually, you think to yourself with a smile, brushing your lips against the crown of your lovers head, husband. But above all, the title you want to live up to the most is one you do not have yet, but will, in the near future. One of your hands drift to your partners stomach, and you breathed in the smell of broken dirt, shattered leaves, and her own scent that you loved oh so much, because it was her smell, and that was enough to calm the butterflies in your stomach, from aflutter to ahover.
Above all, you wanted to be a good father. You knew that she was going to be a good mother.
"Thank you," you whispered in her ear, feeling a rush of both physical and spiritual warmth. You took one last glance at the endless sky, thanking the universe for letting you be here today, and letting yourself drift off to join your fiance in the land of dreams.
It really was a wonderful life.
Welcome to the Happy Ending After. You play a protagonist after the main plot of their story has been wrapped up, and living out their epilogue. This quest will follow you as you guide him through his acclimation to normal life and building him up after so many struggles had beat him down. Your first choice...
Who is the Dragon Sorcerers wife to be?
[ ] Etrog the Vile. Someone with just as long a list of titles and accomplishments as you. She was your fellow apprentice under your shared master, the current Empress of the Deòir Dynasty, though you was the first, and so, became the Heir Apparent, with her second in line. You initially met as enemies, with her, a self taught human sorceress, scrambling for any magical knowledge she could find, which just happened to eventually be you, and her future master. Your admiration for her determination led to you taking some very dumb risk, but instead of ending badly, you ended up charming her. While your friendship had seen many challenges, and temptations sought to tear you apart, you stood together until the end, and neither of you noticed that before long you had slipped into the roles of lovers. You didn't know anyone else who proposed to their partner while stuck in a hell dimension, forging their ring themselves from the fires of burning souls with the help of phenomenally drunk demons, but a special lady deserved a special ring. She's a little scared about the pregnancy, but assures you that it is what she wants.
[ ] Natalie 'Nat' Xu. You and Natalie had a funny relationship. For a long time, she was the only person keeping you from abandoning your mortal life out of fear of what the other world could do to your loved ones. You've had eachothers backs since kindergarten and beyond, and you never stopped being amazed that this girl has been by your side all this time. She was your first everything. Your first love, your first girlfriend, the person who took your...well, you know. She may not be interested in magic in the slightest, but she was magical enough on her own. You've been planning the pregnancy for a while now. She may have told you that she didn't need magic to be happy with you, but you knew she wanted to have a baby, and it was impossible to do that with current medical science, so you had to turn to Etrog for help. Your friend had the biggest, shit eating grin on her face, and you desperately hoped your son, if it was a son, would forgive you for naming him after his godmother. Even if you have to deal with an insufferable Etrog for the rest of your life, seeing Natalie weep into her friends chest, so happy that she could now do what they all could since birth, made you the happiest man in the world.
[ ] Blair Deòir. After being inducted into the Deòir royal family, you knew that they were...a bit closer than you were used to. Of course, you weren't related by blood to the Empress, you were only her apprentice and friend, but you still considered her a second mother, and when you started to turn some of her descendants to her cause in preparation for a civil war for the fate of the pixie race, you considered them all your cousins as well. Pixies were a proliferate and notoriously randy race, and the best you could say was that it was never a dull night when you were traveling with them. Etrog, the poor girl, cast a spell of outer silence on herself and crashed your room to avoid the increased risk of being successfully killed in her sleep. You were more resistant to such things, though equally oblivious to the extent they took it to, and when your favorite pixie cousin kissed you on the lips and started dragging you to her room, you knew you where screwed. Blair was just as fascinated with you as you were with her nth great aunt (platonically!), and you couldn't say you weren't also interested in where she came from. The best way to understand a culture was to date someone from it, right? It went further than either of you imagined, but you couldn't say you minded. The...physical differences between you, made introducing her to your parents incredibly awkward. She's perfectly fine with the pregnancy, and acts as she always did.
