Gold is a somewhat unhinged pokémon master that ends up in Gensokyo during an incident called 'The Great Danmaku War'. Hundreds of Youkai are rebelling, refusing to follow the danmaku rules the Hakurei shrine and Yukari set and are attacking humans and those that try to stand in their way. The Hakurei shrine still stands but Reimu is having trouble dealing with all those bothersome youkai by her lonesome. She has some help, but currently most peaceful youkai already have their hands full protecting their own territories from these violent instigators.

When Gold enters the world of Gensokyo he begins to sense something calling to him, something deep in his soul is fighting to reach the surface. What were those urges? What were these odd cravings? Hopefully he will find someone that can give him some answers...

This is...
The Great Danmaku War

Disclaimer

For all newcomers, rest assured, this is not a Touhoumon quest, nor will it become one. This is a story that will be occurring in the canon-ish world of Gensokyo where we will be following the (mis-)adventures of the eccentric pokémon trainer Gold and his interaction with the equally eccentric people of the Touhou universe.
---------------------------------------------------
Dear Diary: Today I discovered that it takes surprising amount of time to convert things from 2nd person to 3rd person.

The Pokémon and Gold's history are based on rules, story and settings from the 1st-3rd generation of pokémon games. Then there is of course Touhou... which is based on the Touhou Project Bullet Hell Games and various fanworks.

Anyways! Welcome! Due to various circumstances I decided that it would be fun to edit the story that has been told so far into chapters here. I truly hope that you, lovely lurkers and readers enjoy the story as much as I enjoy writing it.

Feel free to comment and if you are unsure about anything feel free to ask questions. I will be more than happy to answer any (non-spoiler) questions you may have.

Edit. Changed first post image to something less cluttered but still relevant.

Gold and his Pokémon
Gold

Name: Gold
Sex: Male
Health: All'right!
Mentality: In battling mood as always

Description: Pokémon League Champion 2 years running, Gold is somewhat of a celebrity in the pokémon world, particularly in Johto and Hoenn. He has a charismatic if a rather intense personality. Preferring to stay on the move, never stopping in one place for too long.
----
Early in his career he developed a method that allowed him to 'link' up with his pokémon via . Allowing him to see through their eyes and guide them without saying a word, increasing the team's effectiveness and teamwork immeasurably.

The drawback was that the pain and injury inflicted on them he would feel as well. For most trainers that would undoubtedly deter them from using it. But not for Gold. He saw this as even greater reason for using it. Since how were you supposed to understand your comrades if you weren't willing to experience the same things they did? One for All, All for One.

Omastar

Omastar:
Level: 88

He is a sky-blue Ammonoidea Pokémon, with several tentacles and a pale yellow, helix spiralled shell with spikes on its back. Its shell constantly grows, getting heavier over time and thus limiting its mobility. Several sharp spikes line the shell's midsection, spanning from its forefront to just a little towards its back. The shell's hem has two circular indents where Omastar's eyes come out. Its eyes have yellow sclera, with vertically-slit pupils. It has an oval mouth with a four-way jawed, fang-like beak. Once caught, it never lets go of prey, immediately biting down on its victim with immense power.

I am the mighty H. O. Omastar! Bow before me... or suffer the consequences!
I am a resilient and powerful being of importance much greater than you humans can comprehend. In my younger days, ages past, I spend great deal of time studying you, learning your culture and traditions. Soon I even learned how to speak your crude and simplistic language. You should be grateful that I did. If I hadn't, I might have decided to end your miserable race. When Gold caught me, I suspected that he was sent by one of the organizations whose aim is to end my my rule. But I was grateful when it turned out that I was wrong. Gold is a great being, don't even try to compare him to the rest of you pitiful humans!

Omastar, or H. O. Omastar as he prefers to call himself* is a lone survivor of the now extinct Omanyte and Omastar species. How he has managed to survive 'till now is unknown but his massive size may play a factor in it. Unlike most known remains of Omastars, H. is over 2.3 meters in height, dwarfing all found remains of his race up to date. Due to his size he is much stronger than a normal omastar would be. Not much is known about his past, as when asked he will only reply by saying "You humans wouldn't understand.". Although suffering from 'Delusion of Grandeur' he is quite adept at various fields of combat. He has likewise displayed surprising knowledge about other pokémon... even species that have only been recently discovered.

Stats:
HP: 273
Attack: 220
Defense: 360
Sp.Atk: 290
Sp.Def: 264
Speed 150
When in combat he prefers to tire his opponents out. Enduring their onslaught until he sees an opening, wherein he will strike surprising ferocity. His attacks mainly consist of using his own body to crush his foes but he has been known to use both water and ground types attack if his foes survives more than two of his normal attacks.

Carrying: Life Orb

*He has been known to call himself: Lord Helix, The Almighty One, The Ruler of the Ocean and... Arthur

Absol

Absol:
Level: 84

Absol is a quadruped, mammalian Pokémon with a dark blue to gray body covered in white fur. It has a ruff around its neck and chest and a tuft on the top of its head adorned with a single blue-black oval. It has a feline face with almond-shaped, red eyes, a scythe-like tail, and a sickle-shaped horn on the side of its head. Its broad feet are equipped with three claws each, and spikes protrude from the heels of its hind legs and the elbows of its front legs.

Absol lives in the mountains far from civilization, and rarely ventures down from its alpine home. Using its horn, Absol is able to sense even subtle changes in the sky and the land to predict when a natural disaster will occur, and will try to warn people when one is approaching. This often has the unfortunate effect of Absol itself being blamed for the disaster.
Adamant and serious. Absol will follow Gold's commands to the letter. She is one of Gold's first pokémon and is a paramount member of the team. After Feraligatr's death she took it upon herself to prevent such disasters from happening again. Using her keen senses to keep both Gold and his comrades out of danger. She is distrustful of humans other than Gold and will actively try to scare them away.

Stats:
Hp: 284
Attack: 332
Defense: 182
Sp.Atk: 183
Sp.Def: 163
Speed: 190
Her methods are direct and brutal. From the start she will aim to take out her foe with well placed attacks that cause the foe to lose his balance and concentration. Her natural immunity against psychic attacks also means that she has seen a lot of action against psychic types. Perhaps due to that, she instinctively knows when someone nearby is using such abilities, be it human or pokémon.

Carrying: Dread Plate
Charizard

Charizard:
Level: 84

Charizard is a draconic, bipedal Pokémon. It is primarily orange with a cream underside from the chest to the tip of its tail, which burns with a sizable flame. Charizard has a long neck, small blue eyes, raised nostrils, and two blunt horns protruding from the back of its rectangular head. There are two fangs visible in the upper jaw when its mouth is closed. Two large wings with teal undersides sprout from its back, and a horn-like appendage juts out from the third joint of each wing. Charizard's arms are short and skinny compared to its robust belly, and each limb has three white claws. It has stocky legs and cream-colored soles under its feet.

Rash to the point of fault. Gold's Charizard is as close to being a powerhouse all by himself. And he would be one if it wasn't for his tendency of rushing into battles blindly, making him easy prey by the more cool and composed opponents. Nevertheless, this imposing creature is one of the largest of his kind. Standing good 3.2 meters (excluding his tail). The reason, or perhaps the cause of his unusual size is due to him being an Alpha-type charizard. He is hot heated and extremely territorial and once he has marked an area or creature as his he will protect it to his death. (So far the only thing he has marked is one of his temmates, Absol)

Stats:
Hp: 304
Attack: 223
Defense: 207
Sp.Atk: 298
Sp.Def: 190
Speed 270
A very aggressive fighter, Charizard relies on his devastating firebreath and air superiority to take down his foes. His fiery breath is capable of melting boulders, massive glaciers, and burn whole forests if not kept in check. His claws are also extremely sharp. Capable of cutting through thick steel with relative ease.

Carrying: Choice Specs
Latios

Latios:
Level: 84

Latios is a bird-like, dragon Pokémon with an aerodynamic body. The lower half of its body is blue with jet-plane wings and fin-like feet. It has a red triangular marking on its chest. By tucking its wings and forelimbs, it can fly faster than a jet (but has difficulty reacting to objects flying in his directions while he is at that speed). It has white and blue arms that can be tucked into its body. The upper-half of its body is white. It has triangular ears and a blue face with a white pentagon in the middle. Latios is a male only species; Latias is the female counterpart.

He is a Dragon/Psychic pokemon with levitation and shape-shifting abilities (aka. he is capable of make himself appear human). He dislikes fighting and will avoid a fight if able. He has a rather playful and lighthearted personality most of the time. He will, however go into a rage-like state if his trainer is being threatened/being attacked. During those moments he will not stop attacking of unless his trainers orders him to do so. Even though he is male he tends to prefer shape-shifting into a human female. You (the trainer) aren't sure why he does that.

Stats:
Hp: 307
Attack: 230
Defense: 211
Sp.Atk: 317
Sp.Def: 270
Speed: 296
His main powers are dragon and physic related though he is capable of learning a wide variety of different skills (more about that after first update). Latios is an extremely powerful being capable of devastating attacks that can leave both foes and surroundings utterly annihilated. His abilities are most effective from range, but if forced into a corner he is more than capable of using physical force against his foes.

Carrying: Soul Dew
Deoxys

Deoxys:
Level: 82

Deoxys is an alien-like bipedal Pokémon that has four formes, each focused on a different stat. The main components that are constant for all four formes are a dominant reddish orange color, a bluish-green face, and three bluish-green dots on its back arranged in a triangle. Typically, there is a purple stripe running down the center of its face and a purple, crystalline organ in its chest. Its white, circular eyes are set inside rectangular, black eye sockets.

In its Attack Forme, its legs remain tapered. However, its blue stripes are no longer segmented and run the entire length of the leg and there is now a large spike on the knee. Two pairs of whip-like tentacles with pointed tips, one reddish-orange and one blue, replace its previous coiled, blunted tentacles. The protrusion on its head are now triangular with an additional one extending for the top of its head. Most of its reddish-orange skin has receded, revealing a striated, black chest and abdomen. Finally, its tail is now longer and more pointed.

He is a powerful psychic pokémon that evolved from an alien virus (how is unknown). He is a smart strategist that quickly spots his opponents weak points and strikes quickly and effectively. As much as he appears to be cool and distant he is naturally curious about his surrounding (an effect of only having been on Earth for handful of years) and has the bad habit of flying of to check something out if it catches his attention (much to the dismay of his trainer). He generally doesn't understand the concept of morality, though he knows that something that hurts his master or fellow pokémon is wrong while helping his master is right. He cares for his trainer, a curious feeling he hasn't felt for anything else.

Even though he is highly intelligent his mind is fundamentally different from humans and other pokémon and thus tricks that would work on another sentient being will not work on him. He is completely immune to mind tricks, mind control, compulsions and things of similar nature. And unless someone is capable of telepathy and mind reading and can understand the core working of his mind then that is unlikely to change.

Stats:
Hp: 251
Attack: 390
Defense: 103
Sp.Atk: 390
Sp.Def: 103
Speed: 360
His strength and power depend on his forme. In his attack forme he is extremely dangerous, fast striking opponent. He is the epitome of offense, a true powerhouse in every sense of the word. Lethal both in ranged and in close range. In this mode he will strike quickly and brutally before retreating a distance back to observe the foe (if he survives). He is a psychic type, though the categorization is a bit of a stretch. He does not, in fact, fit any categorization. He is capable of learning an extreme range of various powers from most types. It is true that he is an extremely powerful psychic, but other than that he doesn't fit into any type category.

Carrying: Focus Sash
Gengar

Gengar:
Level: 80

Gengar is a dark purple, bipedal Pokémon with a roundish body. It has red eyes and a wide mouth that is usually curled into a sinister grin. Multiple spikes cover its back, and it has large pointed ears. Its arms and legs are short with three digits on both its hands and feet. It also has a stubby tail.

Gengar is very mischievous, and at times, malicious. It enjoys playing practical jokes and casting curses, such as pretending to be one's shadow, then behaving erratically. When the quarry notices, the Gengar takes delight in its victim's terror. However, Gengar is very loyal to Gold and will only rarely play pranks on him. Gengar prefers to stay in the shadows in rooms, caves, and generally dark places. Oddly enough, Gold's Gengar seems to have a particular interest in appearing in locations where you would least want him to be. Such as; Bathrooms, hot springs, photoshoots and under tables... much to the dismay of everyone.

Stats:
Hp: 261
Attack: 184
Defense: 179
Sp.Atk: 290
Sp.Def: 205
Speed: 267
Gengar has the ability to hide perfectly in the shadow of any object, granting it exceptional stealth. However, Gengar's body acts as a heat sink; its presence cools the temperature of the surrounding area by nearly 10°F, because it absorbs the warmth. In addition, Gengar possesses the ability to fly through the air. Because of his incorporeal nature most foes have a hard time dealing with him. He takes great pleasure in sneaking up to his opponents while they are unaware and taking them by surprise with devastating attacks.

Carrying: Black Sludge

Chapter 1, Part 1
Chapter 1: The Fall

YES!!!
Gold had just cracked the toughest nut out there, Red himself! It had been a lot of work and Gold had spent a long time training his pokémon to be up on par with Red's... And it had finally paid off! Training great companions that had followed him through thick and thin. Even with his... quirks they supported him through their whole adventure, never giving up. And now Gold had beaten the best of the best. Eat that, Silver!

"...Well done." The near mythical trainer says as he extends his hand. Even now Gold could hardly believe that he had won. Red's team had been amazing, if it hadn't been for the nearly 4 years of constant travels and battling he wouldn't have been able to beat the myth. Gold shakes Red's hand cheerfully as he grins.

"It was a fun battle! We have to do this again someday."

He tips his cap, hiding a small smile. "...maybe."

Gold glances around, the battle had momentarily taken his thoughts off the creepy atmosphere in the cave. Once the battle ended this feeling of wrongness had returned hundredfold. Everywhere he looked inside Mt. Silver (who names his kid after a mountain anyways?) he could swear he could see shadows moving. It might just be his imagination... a trick of the mind. But something was telling him that wasn't the case. "So... I have a question..." He starts, eager to break the uncomfortable silence. "Why have you been staying up here for all these years? I mean, there must be better things for a Master to do than hang around on a remote mountain all day... Like traveling and battling people!" Gold finishes with a raised fist, fire burning in his eyes.

"..." His eyes turn cold.

Gold scratches his chin embarrassingly. "Sorry, bad habit. Forget that I asked."

"..." Red stares at him for couple moments before sighing.

"... guess there is no harm in telling you."

Gold's eyes start gleaming, taking on the form of stars as he wraps his hands around Red's excitedly. "You can trust me! I swear I won't tell anyone!" This was awesome! Red was actually trusting him for something important. It was like a dream come true.

Red appears a bit surprised by Gold's familiarity but continues. "...I have been searching for signs of people that went missing here." he explains gravely. "Over the last 8 years people have gone missing in the area surrounding Mt. Silver. I came here because..." he trails off.

Gold's smile falters. '...because one of the missing person was someone he knew'. That would explain why he was so dead set on staying here. This person must be really important to him. Not many would isolate themselves from the rest of the world like he did. 5 years is a long time to be staying one place. If it had been Gold, he would have gone insane from boredom in less than a week.

"Found any clues?" He asks seriously. Red had trusted him enough to answer his questions. It was only right that he returned the favor and offered his help... though hopefully it didn't require him to sit still for hours watching grass grow.

Red pauses and stares into the dark ravine at the edge of the cave. "Yes and no.... I am not sure... It is more a feeling after years of investigation than anything else." He touches the pokéballs on his bells softly. He looks Gold directly in the eyes. "I think there is something supernatural behind the disappearances. All of them."

Gold blinks. "You mean something like the myths about Haunter and Gengar?" He knew from experience that that was just hogwash. Folktales to scare children. Sure, Gengar enjoyed scaring and tricking people, but draining their life? Not likely.

Red shakes his head. "No, that's exactly it. It has nothing to do with pokémon. I am sure of it."

"How can you be so sure?"

He glares back at the pitch black ravine. "I have seen it with my own eyes. It was not a pokémon."

Gold gulped nervously. "What was it?"

Red opens his mouth but hesitates. "I... am not sure." He takes a deep breath. "It looked like a rift. A rift with hundreds of disembodied eyes on the other side."

Gold shudders. This sounded more like a horror flick than reality. He had never liked those. He hated stories about ghosts, they creeped the hell out of him. "Y-you think it might be ghosts?" Gold ask worryingly.

He gives Gold a weird look. "Didn't you fight me with a Gengar? That is a ghost type pokémon."

Gold shrugs "Yeah, it is a ghost type. That just means he is incorporeal, not that he is an actual ghost" (dead things don't evolve) In all honesty he had been terrified of Gengar when he caught him as Gastly, but over time on his travels he had learned that the ghost type was just a category of pokémon, not actual ghosts. Honestly, Incorporeal type would be closer to the mark. "If it isn't ghosts then what is it?" Gold asks, dreading the answer.

Red looks away. "...I don't know..." He mutters.

A brisk gust flows through the cave, sending chills up Gold's spine. He swallows nervously. Stay calm, stay calm... Deep breaths, deep breaths. Puu- ahh, Puu- ahh.

Red stares at him "You okay?"

"Just fine'!" Gold replies, his smile returning. "As I said, don't like ghosts." he chuckles embarrassed as he scratch the back of his head.

Red smiles thinly. "... Everyone has something they dislike." There is an awkward pause as Gold waited for him to continue.

"Anyways!" Gold starts, unwilling to let the silence stretch out longer. "I am wondering if I could be of any help with... well, your search?"

Red appears surprised but quickly shakes his head. "Thanks for the offer but no. I work better alone." Red states "I have to do this by myself."

Gold was kind of relieved to hear that. Honestly this place was as dreary and dark as dreary, dark places could be. He wasn't going to be able to relax until he was far away from this place. He also had an 'appointment' with Annette late tomorrow and he couldn't dream about missing that. Just thinking about her cooking made him salivate near uncontrollably. "If you say so Red!" he replies cheerfully as he extends his hand out to Red. "Thanks again for the fight. It was great! Now, if you could excuse me, I am going to be leaving this obviously haunted and evil mountain."

He chuckles softly. "...Likewise. It was nice change of pace. I do hope you have an enjoyable journey" He says as he shakes Gold's hand for the second time.

Gold's smile widens. "Will do!" Turning around he starts walking down the worn stone stairs. "Adios!" He shouts raising his hand in goodbye.

---------

Not good notgoodnotgood!
His chat with Red had left him unnerved and now he was seeing movements in the corner of his eyes at/on every turn. This cave system wasn't especially complicated but it took fair time to get out.

Light! Finally! A shout of relief escaped Gold's lip as he spotted the exit of the cave. Without pausing he sprinted rest of the distance to it. Ah, glorious sunset! Now, if I walk through the night I am sure I wi-

Gold comes to an abrupt halt. He hadn't stopped because of the beautiful sunset... No. He was frozen on the spot because of the giant crack in the sky just above the treeline. It was expanding rapidly, and like pieces from a mirror, fragments of reality seemed to be falling down to the ground. That wasn't the worst of it though, the most distressing part of the situation... was the giant red eye looking directly at Gold through the crack.

Gold did what any sane man/person would do. Run the hell away from the eldritch horror. Holding back a high-pitched scream he dashes back into the cave. Whatever this thing was it shouldn't fit into the cave... right?

He continues running further in, not daring to look back. Gold had seen enough horror movies to know it wasn't a good idea. He also needed to warn Red. Whatever this thing was, it didn't look friendly. Maybe this is the thing that has been spiriting people away? Gold wonders and shudder at the thought.

Rushing back into the chamber he and Red had battled in Gold looks frantically around. To his relief Red was still there, typing something on a small, odd looking device.

"Red! Danger!" He shouts, causing Red to look up startled.

"What is wrong? You look like you saw a ghost."

Gold comes to a halt in front of him. Taking a deep breath he explain to Red what he had seen. Red's expression hardens as Gold describes the crack.

"Yeah, that uncannily similar to the thing I saw before. And it was at the entrance of the cave you say?"

Gold nods. "Yeah, it looked more like a crack than a rift. And there was only one large eye, not hundreds of small one."

"Nevertheless, this could be what I have been looking for." Red glances at him. "You stay here, I will go alone."

"Not a chance!" Gold refuses. "The thing may scare the shit out of me but I am not going to let you go by yourself."

His expression softens somewhat. "Very well let u-" Red is cut off as his legs disappear through a rift that appeared underneath him.

"Watch out!" Reflexively Gold grabs onto Red's hand. Preventing more of him from disappearing through the redish dark tear.

"...Thanks." Red grunts. "Can you yank me up?"

"I will try." Gold replies. He hadn't gotten where he was without staying in good shape. But much to his frustration he wasn't making any progress. It was like something was pulling at Red from the other end. Which was a problem since gravity was definitely not on his side.

"There is.. something... pulling... you... from... the other... side." Gold groans between clenched teeth. It was taking him everything just to keep Red from being swallowed further into the rift. And it didn't help that the entity pulling him on the other side was using increasingly more force.

"That is weird. I don't feel anything." Red mutters. "You sure something is pulling me at the other side?" His calmness kind of boggled Gold's mind. His lower half was at this point completely absorbed by the unnatural darkness inside the rift, the only thing preventing him from disappearing completely was someone he had just met an hour ago. If it had been Gold he would have been screaming out his lungs right now.

"Yeah... 100%... sure..." Gold grunts between breaths. He could feel the strain this was having on his body. Soon he would not have enough strength to pull Gold up.

"If that is true then..." Red shifts a bit and Gold feels the weight lessen substantially.

"What did you do?" He asks Red, surprised.

He shrugs "I just kicked as hard as I could."

Glad he did. I should be able to get him up now. Gold thinks as he begins to drag his body out of the rift. It was a slow arduous progress, but soon the rift only reached up to his hips.

"Just a bit more..." Gold mutters as he prepares for one final pull.

*Crackle!*

Everything happened in an instant. The rift under Red closed, leaving Red's hips and legs shorter, with another rift opening beneath Gold, sending him sprawling down into utter darkness. In shock he releases his grip on Red. "Oh Fu-"

"...!" Red shouts something but Gold isunable to hear it as his body plunges into the world of the rift.

"-uuuu-" Gold screams, falling through the unending dark red world of the rift.

"-uuu... eeeeeh!?!" Before his brain could take in the scenery the darkness disappeared, replaced by a clear reddish sky. The sun just barely visible on the horizon between unfamiliar mountains. Gold would be stunned by the beautiful scenery if it wasn't for the tiny fact that he was still plunging to his death.

Okay, calm down! Think! You have some time before you plummet to your death. We are still quite a distance from the ground. Okay, no need to panic. I have my pokémon with me so this shouldn't be any issue if I jus-

"Out of the way ~ze!"

"Huh?"

*Thlunk*

Something smashes into Gold with tremendous force.
His eyes go blank, tears running down them and all color drains from his face as the excruciating pain in his nether region nearly makes him lose consciousness.

"Auuhghhh..." He moans... something had just struck him in a vital spot. His eyes water up. Mother, I am sorry... I don't think you will be getting any grandchildren... he thinks, tears running down Gold's face.

"Not good ~ze!" Someone curses, but Gold is too occupied with regretting his life's choices to notice.

"Grab on!"

...I should have just stayed home... settled down... *sniffle* I should have stopped after I beat the Elite 4 and the champ... A horrible thought crosses his mind. ...What if I won't be able to use it anymore...? A shiver runs down his spine. That was fate even worse than plummeting to hi-

Gold blinks. Wait... wasn't he still falling? He is about to panic when something jerks on his shirt.

"Are mushrooms growin' out of your ears?!? I said grab on!" For the first time Gold notices a strangely dressed, golden haired girl pulling at his shirt. For some reason she was waving a bamboo stick right in front of Gold. An angry scowl on her face. "Grab. It. Now!" She shouts angrily. Her voice somehow clear through the howling wind.

Not questioning her, Gold immediately follows her instruction.

"Hold tight!" The girl shouts again and Gold wraps his arms more tightly around the bamboo. Gradually he feels them slowing down and finally stopping. Glancing down he is surprised to see that they were only few meters above the ground. He could hear the girl heave a sigh of relief. "Didn' expect someone to crash into me like that ~ze." She pokes his arm. "So, how long are you going to hang like that?"

"Ah, oh, sorry." he fumbles as he lets himself fall into the soft grass below. Glancing up he stares at the girl in surprise once he realizes she was hovering above the ground... using nothing but a broomstick.

She notices his look and checks herself. "Eh? Do I have somethin' stuck on me?"

Gold shakes his head forcefully. "No... it is nothing." He quickly replies. Maybe the broom is some sort of pokémon? He nearly laughs at that thought. Hah! That's rich. What next? A pokémon that is a key-chain?

She jumps off the broom and lands nimbly beside him. "Hello stranger! I am Ma-"

"One sec," He cuts her off "need to check something vital." He says with a painful grunt. Turning around he unzips his pants, loosening them just enough so he could stretch his underwear. Hopefully nothing was irredeemably damaged.

She looks at him puzzled. "Err... what are ye doin'? Go behind some bushes if you want to relieve yourself ~ze."

"Just... making sure everything is intact." Gold mutters as he confirms that he had indeed not become a eunuch. He sighs from relief. "Thank god..." Zipping his pants up he turns around. "Sorry about that. You were saying?"

"Alh right!" She grins "I am Marisa Kirisame. Nice to meet'ya!" she says as she extends an arm

"I am Gold." he replies as he returns the gesture. "Now, if you wouldn't mind. Could you explain where in the Mew's name I am?" He asks, glancing around. This was definitely not Johto or Hoenn.

A mischievous glint appears in her eyes. "Oh, you are one of the snack Yukari brought here?"

"S-snack?" Gold echoes worriedly.

Marisa lifts her hands and shrugs innocently. "It's somethin' she does once in a while to keep some of the youkai content."

Gold swallow nervously. "Youkais? The monsters and beasts from the old myths?"

She moves closer to him, her eyes staring intently at him. "Yes. Those be the ones." She replies, her eyes turning deep red. "Who knows... one of them might be right. In. Front. Of. You." Gold gulps again as he slowly reaches for his belt. If she was planning to eat him, he sure as hell wasn't going to make it easy.

She stares at him for a moment longer before bursting out into laughter. "Bwahahhaha! You should've seen your face! It's priceless!"

Gold looks at her dumbfounded as she continues laughing. "...You were just messing with me?"

She wipes a tear from her eye. "A bit. Sure, there are youkai that eat humans but they are not common in this area. Not this close to the shrine."

She puts a fist into her palm. "That's it! I can just take you to Reimu. She can explain stuff for you." Her broom flies into her hand. She begins to hover up when she pauses. "...but I migth be able to teach him a bit how to defend himself... yes... I think that might be fun..." She mutters something under her breath that Gold can't quite hear. She turns to him. "Hey, boy, are you interested in being able to defend yourself? I can teach you a trick or two in Danmaku that should help even a newbie like you stay alive. How does that sound ~ze?"

Watched for being a Touhou crossover with something vaguely like SMT. Currently withholding judgement on other points.

Chapter 1, Part 2: The Challenge
What's danmaku? "Sure, anything battle related is worth learning." Gold answers with an eager smile.

She grins. "It is isn't it?"

"Can I make an unrelated request first?"

She looks at him warily "So long as you aren't askin' me to loan you something."

He shakes his head. "No, nothing like that. It is just... Umm. If you see a lower half of a person... that is, not attached to the upper body. Can you pass it to me? Or at least alert me of it? It might belong to a friend of mine. And I am pretty sure he'd like it back."

"No problem" she replies nonchalantly. "I can't promise anythin' but I will let you know if I see something like that ~ze."

Gold is a bit surprised that she didn't even blink an eye at this request. Maybe weird situations like those were common here?

She takes a seat on her broom and lifts up a bit above the ground. "Now listen. There are a couple of things you need to know about Danmaku..."

...a while later

"...so you got that?" she waves a finger with a smug smile "Currently there is an uprising among the youkai going on. The village, the Mansion and the temples are well defended so the youkais are avoiding them right now, but anything outside of them is a high danger zone for humans... That includes this place." She adds "These bastards won't be following the rules of Danmaku either and will do everything in their power to get a hold on your delicious flesh so if you value your life I recommend stayin' in the village ~ze."

Gold nods. So things were like that eh? He hides a wicked grin. I think I am liking this place more and more. Now I have access to two new and widely different ways to fight. He could feel the excitement run through his body. Nothing got him more fired up than the idea of fighting for his life... well, nothing explicit at least. He looks up to her with stars in his eyes. "So, are you going to teach me how to create those spirit bullets now?"

"Ufufufu, I suspected you were the type." She drifts up above the trees. "I am going to show you a simple pattern of danmaku, so watch carefully!"

A familiar presence touches Gold's mind. You have my consent, go ahead Latios, he answers the probing presence as he looks up on Marisa. He suddenly feels slightly fidgety as 6 pair of eyes connect to his consciousness.

She lifts up her arm and out of a sphere in her palm fly hundreds of star shaped 'bullets' who immediately start spiraling around her in complicated, yet beautiful patterns.

"This is how you create danmakus!" she shouts smugly. "It is easier once you get the hang on it ~ze ." She waves her hand and the 'stars' scatter, some flying away into the distance while other strike the ground with a soft *twing*.

She flies down to him. "Now you try." she encourages. "Focus the energy into your hand and imagine arrows flying out of it." She moves a slight distance away. "Oh and since you will likely fail or send out an undampened danmaku I will be staying behind you just in case."

Gold nods, she had explained how this worked earlier, now it was just matter of actually doing it. Focus your mind... He closes his eyes and visualizes arrows made out blue energy flying out of his hand. He feels a surge of something running through his arm. Golden opens his eyes to see...

*pfffff...*

Out of his hand came... nothing. Well, mostly nothing, it was a faint image of something that might have possibly maybe been something resembling an arrow at one point.

Gold hears Marisa snicker behind him. His cheeks start to heat up.

She claps him on the back. "Sorry, sorry. I just didn't expect that sound." She gives Gold an encouraging smile. "Try again, I will give you some pointers as you continue trying ~ze."

...10 minutes later

He was sweating like mad. This was a lot more exhausting than he had expected, but at least he could finally shoot out a danmaku... kind of. It wasn't nearly as powerful as even the weakest of Marisa's stars but it was a start. Though his max was 5 spiritual attack at once, which wasn't much considering.

"Well, you got the basics down at least." Marisa reassures him. "That shows that you have at least some talent for it. That is something."

Gold. Deoxys touches his mind. Hmm? Something wrong? Gold feels a pattern of images go through his mind, they were all of Marisa explaining and showing how to create Danmakus. He quickly deciphers Deoxys intentions. Latios also voices his interest. Very well, I will ask her. Gold replies to them.

I hope she will be okay with this... "Hey, Marisa...?"

"Hmm?" she looks at him curiously wearing a smug grin as her hands rest on her hip, giving her somewhat arrogant demeanor.

"At the moment I am no good at this, so is it okay if one of my companions fill in the role of the combatant for me?"

"Sure...?" She looks around. "But you sure they are okay? I mean, the only one I saw plunging to the ground was you."

Gold shakes your head. "They are right here." He says as he lifts up a pokéball containing Deoxys

"Whatsthat?" she asks, her curiosity piqued. She moves in closer to get a better look at it. "Some sort of barrier contraption?"

Wow, actually kind of a close guess. "Well, not exactly... I think it is better to just show you." Gold replies and throw the ball up in air. "Deoxys, come out!"

With a flash the pokéball opens up and the reddish energy shoots out and forms into Deoxys.

She stares at Deoxys dumbfounded. It gave Gold some amount of satisfaction knowing that he had managed to surprise her.

"What is that..." She mutters wide eyed.

He walks over to Deoxys. "This is Deoxys, a companion of mine. He is a pokémon."

"Pokiimun?" she tilts her head in confusion.

Sigh, this is might take a while. Gold explains to her how pokémon differ from normal animals with their unique characteristics and capability to affect the world in a different way from what a normal animal does. How they are a lot closer to human intelligence than other creatures. How most of them can understand human language (to a point) and that some can even speak it.

Marisa catches on surprisingly fast. "And so you keep them in those gadgets?" She asks as she points to one the balls on his belt. "They don't mind being stuck in there?"

Gold shrugs. "Depends on the trainer and the pokémon. I know that mine don't mind but there may be others that completely refuse to stay inside a pokéball."

She nods. Then she gives the balls a greedy look. "Hey..." she starts. "Since I am helping you, you wouldn't mind loaning some of them to me ~ka ze?"

Gold shakes his head immediately and put a hand over his belt. "Not an option. They are my irreplaceable friends. I will not let us be separated." He softens his tone. "But I do owe you. That is true. Tell you what. If you ever need aid I will be more than ready to help."

She grins and lifts up her hands. "No need. I was just kidding." She states in not-so-believable manner. She then glances at Deoxys. "You sure he can do this better than you? "

It was his turn to be smug. "Without question. He is on a completely different level." He gives her a provocative smile. "He might even be stronger than you."

"Hoo..." She replies, her grin widening. "Are you confident enough to put that to the test?"

"Any day." Gold replies confidently, his smile mirroring hers. It was nice to know that even in other worlds there were people that loved battling as much as him.

Gold. Deoxys starts. Gold turns to him. "Yes, I will link up with you. Just give me a moment." Deoxys nods and starts investigating his surrounding with interest.

"What was that about ~ze?" she asks curious.

"When we fight we bind our minds together. That allows me to see through his eyes, guide him, give him orders and such, it also means that any damaged inflicted on him I will feel as well."

"Why would you do that? ~ka"

"If I am going to let someone fight in my stead I should be ready to pay the price. Don't you agree?"

She laughs. "I like how you think, boy." Her smile looking dazzling in the twilight. "I think we will be getting along swimmingly." Her eyes gleam with excitement. "Want to bet somethin' on this fight? I don't mind if you don't, but always adds an edge if one has something to lose. ~da ze"

Gold opens his mouth. "Well..."

The next update is going to take some time since I am effectively converting 5k worth words, images, gifs and such over, whilst both improving and editing the text to fit SV rules and regulations.

IMPORTANT: Couple of things I want to make clear. During the start of the original quest the reader base got to decide what kind of derangements the protagonist suffered from, and one of those was "combat addict". This was a more tongue in cheek poke at how everyone in the pokémon games (and the series in general) is always trying to fight you the moment they see you. And the logical development is that the hero (Gold) would either become utterly sick of battling or become addicted to it. Hence his excitement in above dialogues.

Additionally, in the original quest there are plenty of rolls to estimate whether an action succeeds or not so don't expect this story to revolve around an OP self-insert that cannot fail. Due to how dices work (and how I approach stories in general) he can, and has failed. Instead, think about this as a story about an eccentric pokémon master and his interaction with equally eccentric world of Gensokyo. ; )

First Danmaku Battle! Ch 1. part 3
"...sure! But let's not bet our souls, something small we can live without would be the best."

"Fine by me."

Gold takes off his backpack and rummages through it while Marisa comes closer to see what he was doing. Hmm... I don't have much, but one of the Max Potions should do the trick. Out of the bag he lifts up the small square spray bottle.

"What's that ~ze?" She asks as she bends over to get a better look at the bottle in the boy's hand.

"This is a healing potion. During fights pokémon can become severely injured and using this you can bring them back to full health."

Stars appear in her eyes. "Really?! So it instantly heals wounds? Does it leave scarring? Does it heal scarring? Does it regrow lost limbs? Does it work on people?!" she continues bombarding him with questions as she moves closer and closer to him.

Surprised by her enthusiasm Gold takes a step back. He didn't mind having beautiful girls up in his face, but that hungry look on her was actually making him slightly nervous. "Woah, calm down, calm down! You are salivating on me!"

"Sorry" she apologizes in not-sorry-at-all kind of way.

"Ahem.... yes, it heals instantly. No, it doesn't leave scarring. It doesn't heal scarring. It can't heal lost limbs. And it does work on people... to a point." Gold explains. "The reason why it works so well on pokémon is due to their unique connection to the elements. I don't know the specifics, but somehow the content of the bottle resonates and restores... or reverts the pokémon back to the point where they were unharmed." He glances at her cautiously. "What will you be offering against it?"

She strokes her chin thoughtfully. "Let me see..." A smile flashes across her face. "I know, if you win you can pick any item I have for sale back in my shop."

Somehow I feel like I got the short end of the stick. "Very well, lets have it that way."

"Great! Let's shake on it."

Well, I am in it for the battle so I win either way. Gold grins as he grabs her hand. "Yeah. Lets have a great fight!"

She smiles with delight as she floats off the ground. "I will be waiting for you in the air... I assume that guy can fly?"

"He sure can" He replies laughing as he turns to Deoxys. "Okay Deoxys, if we are going to do this we need to watch everything she does and find ways to counter her attacks. Lets observe the first round and try to strike her when we see an opening."

Deoxys nods. Yes, Gold.

Latios touches Gold's mind. Hmm? Let you out so you can protect my body while I am fighting with Deoxys? Chills run down his neck. You are right. We are in a dangerous world. We have no idea whether something dangerous might appear while we are occupied with the fight. Thank Arceus he had pointed that out.

He let Latios out of his ball. Gold watches with amusement as he stretches out his wings. "Sorry about that. I know you prefer the more refined type of balls but we were going up Mt. Silver..." Gold cringes at the name "And I wanted to make sure that I had the most resilient balls possible. I can't even think about what I would do if I lost you guys."

Latios nods warmly. Want me to change form so I stand less out? he asks.

"Yeah, it is probably for the best. You also have permission to let out the rest of the guys out if hostile creatures show up."

Latios nods just before his body is engulfed in soft light. In mere seconds an attractive young woman was standing where Latios had been.

"Is this sufficient, master?" He asks you with a feminine voice, his head tilting slightly as he asks.

Gold blushes slightly. He could never understand why Latios always transformed into a female. "Err... yes. That will do just fine. Just stay close to me and make sure nothing and no one attempts to eat me. K'?"

Sh- He nods and walks up to Gold. For some reason that made him even more uncomfortable.

"Hrrrmmm!" Gold clears his throat and turns to Deoxys "Deoxys!" He gestures to him. "Let's go!"

Very well

Gold experiences certain weightlessness as his mind is pulled out of his own body and into Deoxys. The experience was not exactly what he would describe as pleasant. Gold opens his eyes and feel Deoxys own thoughts race past. Paying them no mind he focuses on what Deoxys was seeing. Everything looked so much sharper through his eyes. It was kind of bizarre experience. Even some plants that appeared golden from Gold's own eyes looked slightly purple through his.

Ready?

Yeah! Lets go! Gold senses Deoxys body rise off the ground. Feeling the cool breeze flow past his body as they rose. There were some clouds in the distance and... wait? Hadn't the sun been setting when he arrived in this world? How was it that she was starting to rise already? Mentally Gold shakes his head in disbelief. Hmm, maybe it wasn't setting when I arrived but rising. He nods (mentally) to himself. Yes, that must have been it.

"Heeey!" Gold hears a shout in the distance and spot Marisa waving cheerfully. "You in there?!"

Deoxys, please imitate her waving with your left appendages. Deoxys immediately responds. As of late the latency between Gold's orders and Deoxys reaction had been getting shorter. A proof of their constant training and fights together no doubt.

She spots Gold/Deoxys waving back and takes up a position. "Then take a position and we will start!"

Gold guides Deoxys to the same height as Marisa. They were roughly 500 meters above the ground now and the wind was a bit chillier there, but not to intolerable levels. He watches as she takes something out of her pouch, for a split moment it looked like the item itself was pulsing, gathering light from the surrounding into itself, gloving with soft green light. Before Gold got a clear look at the device she puts it back in her belt pouch.

"Okay! Ready or not, here I come!" She announces.

Stars of every colour and shape burst out from her. Not from her hands but rather her whole body. Hundreds, if not thousands of stars scattering in every direction in a magnificent spiral formation. It was terrifying and a terrifying spectacle at the same time. Gold smiles to himself. So this is the real deal eh? He senses Deoxys tensing up. Even he was feeling excited.

Try to avoid getting hit. Until we know what the stars actual touch range is I think we should err on the side of caution. We will strike back when we have gotten used to their movements. He had to admit that trying to keep up with everything was a bit overwhelming... but he should manage. Thankfully the danmakus were moving quite slowly and should cause no real danger to to him or Deoxys.

Will do He responds and starts flying towards the spiraling stars.

"Uhuhuhu! What do you think?" Gold hears her call from the other side. "Impressive isn't it?" He asks Deoxys to send her this thought 'Yeah, this lightshow is so beautiful... and slow moving enough that I could fall asleep' there'. If she was even a tiny bit like himself, just those words should be enough. Especially with Deoxys flying with apparent ease between her danmakus.

"Is that so?" she shouts confidently. "I thought I should go easy on you guys since it's your first time, but as you said, it is obvious that there is no need for that ~ze."

The stars fade away. And he could see her floating there, no more than 50 meters away. Her eyes burning and a wide excited grin on her face. This is it. Gold felt ecstatic. This is what I want! Show me your best! He felt the adrenaline run through him and Deoxys. Everything, even the colours in the world became sharper. It is for moments like this that I fight!

"...meso... irah...." She was muttering something under her breath. He knew he should be using this chance to strike at her but he had the feeling it was a trap. And what little Gold knew about her supported this. The wind started picking up and gathering around her, complicated magical signs appearing around Marisa as she stared at you and Deoxys unblinking.

Then Gold felt it.

Uh oh, move back Deoxys! I have a bad feeling about this.

As Deoxys reacts to Gold's order Marisa lifts up a card. "Black Magic "Event Horizon!"" She shouts, the card in her hand burning up.

A whirpool of stars and spheres start blasting out of the magical circles, creating colorful tornadoes of light. Even from here you could feel them rip through the air. This wasn't an attack, this was an execution. They were approaching them at impossible speeds. They only had couple of heartbeats to react.

Gold smiles.

Deoxys! Use Cosmic Power, Calm Mind and Reflect!

A dark aura covers Deoxys body and for a single heartbeat, thousands of stars surrounded them. This should be enough for us to endure her attack.

All too late he notices the confident smirk on Marisa's face. Not good. Deoxys senses it as well and looks around. Clever

The magic circles around Marisa were just a fraction of the attack. Her intention had been to distract Gold enough to miss this. Well, she had certainly succeeded. The pulsing circles all around them had already pumped out their fair share of spheres and stars, creating a single globe of light around them, closing them in. Gold clicks his tongue. They were trapped. Stuck between Regirock and a Hard Stone.

This isn't good. Avoiding all of them would be nearly impossible. Gold scowls. He and Deoxys would just have to toughen it out long enough to find an escape then!

The wall of light was upon them. It was now or never. Dodge! Gold mentally shouts. If they got caught in the full brunt it would mean the end of this fight.

Deoxys reacts and shoots through small gaps between the stars. Gold feels a burning sensation as one of the stars strikes them. He felt a bit tired. So it works like that. He thinks bitterly. The danmakus wear out our spirit until you are unable to fight any more. Deoxys ignores the handful of stars striking his body as he inches further and further out towards freedom. Just a bit further...

"Like I am going to let you!" Marisa shouts. She lifts up her hand and points it in Deoxys direction. Hundreds of stars shoot out of her hand.

Gold curses. They only had split seconds. We have no choice anymore... Deoxys! True Substitution, Teleport!

Gold experiences it as part of Deoxys considerable life force parts way with him, creating a near perfect clone. The light of the sphere were just inches away from them, the danmakus creating a complete enclosure of light.

Then they were out. He and Deoxys didn't come out unscathed, but at least they were still standing. For a moment Gold senses it when the clone is utterly annihilated by the attack. Marisa turns around startled. "How-" she starts.

Our turn Deoxys! Gold thinks as Deoxys thunders towards Marisa. Marisa begins to lift her hands. As I would let you do that! Use Shock Wave!

The attack strikes her squarely in the chest, sending her flying backwards small streaks of electricity running through her body. If this had been the real deal she would have been dead. Instead she only looked slightly disoriented.

It was only matter of seconds before she would recover. Gold wasn't about to allow that "Aerial Ace!" he shouts mentally. With a mighty roar that only Gold could hear, Deoxys shoots towards Marisa again.

For a split second Gold sees Marisa's surprised face before deoxys sends her flying away again, then again... and again. It was a barrage of blows, each containing a bit of psychic energy. Deoxys wasn't going to let her recover, and neither was gold.

"Kuh! She coughs as she wipes her mouth. "Pretty go-" Deoxys. Full Swipe! Using an attack Gold and Deoxys had created a while back, Deoxys extends his feelers and swings them around like whips, veering them towards Marisa at alarming speed.

"Don't... underestimate me ~ze!" Marisa shouts and breaks away from Deoxys onslaught. Even with him following her he only manages to land couple of glancing hits before she gets out of his range.

We need to do something quickly before she manages to increase the distance more. Deoxys voice echoes in Gold's mind. Use Gravity

He grins, through their connection Gold could feel various emotions course through Deoxys. Many, if not most he could not fully comprehend, but there was one that stood out among the rest right now. The desire to win. We will put her on the ground where her movements are confined then. Deoxys responds by nodding ever so slightly.

Lets do this! Deoxys. Use Gravity. For a moment nothing appears to happen, but then its effect becomes obvious. Like a rock Marisa starts crashing down towards the earth. Gold could sense the strain in Deoxys body. Whatever power held her up in the air was strong enough for him to have to exert himself by quite a lot.

"Grrrrhm!" She grinds her teeth as she fights to keep herself from crashing. Just before she hits the ground Deoxys lightens the load, causing her to tumble around in the grass.

Gold winces a bit as he watches her roll. Did they go too far? They had only been striking her with danmaku type attacks so far and that tumble looked like it hurt.

She comes to a stop, dust scattering in every direction, but she was still standing.... and relatively unharmed

Want to give up now? Gold sends the message to her mentally. I promise I will stop if you do. She hides her expressions behind her ridiculously large hat for a moment. He is about to say something more when she looks up wearing a huge radiant smile.

"You kiddin'? I haven't had this much fun for ages!" She puts her hands on her hips confidently. "Just this isn't going to slow me down in the least ~ze."

"Good to know. Then we wo-"

"My turn!" She interrupts, waves of rainbow stars shooting out from her, ten times bigger than before. She extends her left hand to the side. Between her fingers was a card, a Spell Card.

By Magicarp's tail! We need to act quickly before she can cast it. Deoxys rushes down towards where Marisa was standing, dodging the stars while at it... Or that would have been the plan if one of them hadn't suddenly changed its course and struck them. Augh! Gold felt that hit. Even if it did no physical damage to him it certainly packed a punch... Then you notice that the left appendages on Deoxys had been blasted away from by the attack. How are you Deoxys? Gold ask worriedly.

Minimal Damage he responds as his 'arm' regrows back to its original shape.

"...uson..." She raises her voice dramatically. "Light Sign "Earth Light Ray!""

The ground cracks. Blue pillars of blue light rising up, cutting through the air, splitting trees and clouds alike. Most heading straight in Deoxys and Gold's direction.

Teleport!

On the last second Deoxys form disappears and reforms a short distance away. There was no time to relax, the next wave of these energy streaks were blasting towards them. For a moment Gold loses hold of himself and starts laughing.

This was great! This was perfect! Oh, it had been so long. So long since he fought this seriously. Red may have been challenging, but this was something else. This was more like Gold's encounters with Team Rocket and the weirdo terrorists in Hoenn region. Fighting dozen of trainers at the same time was one of the most thrilling thing that he had ever done. Saving the day in the process had just been a bonus.

------

Understanding that his trainer was unable to act at the moment, Deoxys takes it upon himself to work on a strategy. He was happy that his trainer was enjoying himself, but this was not the right time to lose focus. Gracefully he avoids the beams heading towards him, threatening to cut him up. They were bothersome. It was difficult to avoid them when you could not see their source and had to avoid these star... danmakus both at the same time. This was a dangerous game. But somehow he felt it was.... worthwhile? It was a feeling he was largely unfamiliar with. With the only occasions of it popping up when he was training with Gold... It was new, it was fascinating... it was interesting experience.

Deoxys shifts again, calculating roughly where the beams were about to appear next. This time the they missed them by good 2 meters. He was about to inch in closer when Gold suddenly shouts something alarming to him.

Run!
------

Cold sweat runs down Gold's body (figuratively). Whatever she was planning, it didn't bode well. She hardly expected that these beams would be enough once they got used to them. Of that he was certain. Her goal had to be something else. A way to overturn the situation to her favour...

His stomach drops. Something big was coming. He quickly warns Deoxys and orders him to move as fast and far away from Marisa as he could. Hopefully you weren't too late...

------

She grins. This felt nostalgic. It reminded her of the time Remilia and crew appeared in Gensokyo. To fight and meet new foes as great, or greater than yourself was the best feeling imaginable. That was all the reason she needed to fight. That was why she always came back, stronger than before.

She adjusts her stance. She had to stay focused. She didn't want to miss her chance. She bites her lip. Even now she wasn't sure this would work. They appeared to have something of a sixth sense. She shakes her head. No... this was experience. They had experience and it showed. It all came down to correctly guessing the opponents next step and finding a way to avoid or counter them. That was all that it was.

She lifts up her hand, the Mini-Hakkero resting perfectly in her palm.

Now she only had to activate the Spell Card. She looks up at Deoxys and Gold. Had they already seen through her plan? She smiles bitterly. Probably. But it was too late to do anything now. With practiced movement she lifts up the Spell Card and shouts...

------

Gold sees her raise her arm. Everything slows down. The stars forming around her start to spiral around the item resting in her hand faster and faster.

Damn! This isn't good. Deoxys was already moving away as fast as he could. They weren't going to get out of this one if they didn't think fast.

------

The Spell Card burns as her shout echoes through the forest. "Magicannon "Final Master Spark!""

The colossal energy gathered in the charged Mini-Hakkero is released. With thunderous roar the energy blasts out of the Hakkero, its beam so wide that trees meters away burn to crisp, the force great enough that it generates tornado of wind, blowing everything in the vicinity away. The continuous stream of energy shoots forwards faster than the eye can see. She watches with no small amount of glee as Gold and Deoxys get engulfed in the stream.

This is my victory.

A wicked grin spreads across her face. "Lets see how you deal with that ~ze!"

-----

Gold roars in pain. The energy was hammering on his very being. Gold could feel how it was draining out all his strength. Deoxys was in no better state. He had to do something quick or they would lose this fight. Gold's mind goes into overdrive. There had to be something... Ah!

An idea flashes through his mind. Yes! That should do it!

Deoxys. Magic Coat asap! Gather as much of the reflected energy as you can to amplify your Hyper Beam!

Immediately the energy bashing on them subsides and Gold observes with fascination as it rebounds off them and back towards its original source. They had been very lucky that this had worked. He watches as Deoxys focuses as much of the rebounding energy into his own attack. Gold could feel Deoxys's core heat up as he uses it to power up the Hyper Beam. The sphere turns darker and darker until its appearance is that of a dark void, pulsing with boundless energy within.

Firing!

-----

Marisa stares with disbelief as the Master Spark is halted by a beam of pure black energy. These two destructive forces clash for a moment, neither giving way... then the black beam gains momentum, inching ever closer towards Her. She expels more magical energy into the Hakkuro but it was too late. Cursing she cuts the hakkuro off and dodges as fast as she could into the air. Only a moment later the beam strikes the ground where she had stood. Earth, grass, stones, everything the ray touches is annihilated. Once it finally stops there is a 10 meter deep hole where she had stood.

That was close. I don't think I would have survived that blast. And she truly felt that. That hadn't been just spiritual energy, that had been true, deadly force. Had she remained there she would have burned up. A fitting end for a witch, but not something she was especially keen of experiencing any time soon.

"Oi!" She shouts towards Deoxys with Gold ins- bah thinking it like that just complicating things. She would just think of it as Gold while the he was in there.

"You tryin' to get me killed?" She points down towards the 3 meter wide, 10 meter deep hole in the ground. "That was not just spiritual energy!"

"Ah! Sorry!" She could hear him mentally reply. "I asked Deoxys to add some of your attack into his own and the result were...well, that."

She chuckles. "Well I ain't dead so no harm done." She waves her hand dismissively. "However, what about you? Willing to give up and admit defeat?"

She could almost see an ghostly image behind Deoxys of Gold twitching at those words. After a short pause he replied.

"Sorry, but at my world, you don't give up until you black out. So no, I will not be giving up. I will, however make the same offer to you. As you saw we had a counter to that attack of yours. Seeing as it is probably your strongest attack, how about you give up?"

Nonchalantly she lifts up two spell cards "Ritual Sign "Orreries Sun!"". 4 multicolored globes start to orbit her. "Now, in this mode, these little guys..." She waves her hand in the general direction of the globes "...would be firing miniature versions of the Master Spark. But if I use the ritual again..." she smiles in a roguish manner. "Guess what happens ~ze."

...

"...uh oh"

She laughs. "Indeed!" Her eyes burning with excitement. "Prepare yourself!"

-----

A good distance away...

"What's going on?" the purple-ish haired rabbit girl wonders aloud, her ears twitching slightly.

"Probs Marisa riled someone up." Replies the shorter of the girls, her short, black wavy hair a sharp contrast to her white ears "Maybe Reimu?" She suggests with an impish smile.

"Maybe..." the taller girl replies doubtful. Her training back in the Lunar Capital had enhanced her eyesight considerably. She was sure. That wasn't Reimu...

"Whoever it is, Marisa is winning ~usa." The short rabbit girl states confidently and puts her hands behind her head. "Haaah, I wish we were closer. From here they are just dots." she complains as she puffs her cheeks in annoyance, one of her ear slouching down.

"Lets not." The other one replies immediately. She had a bad feeling about this. That previous explosion indicated that not only danmakus were being used in this fight.

"Boooo..." The short haired girl pouts. She looks up at the fight then back at the tall girl and a mischievous smile flashes across her face. "Ahhh! A giant ogre is approaching!" She suddenly screams and points towards the forest behind them.

Her training instantly kicking in the purple-ish haired girl goes into a fighting stance and faces the forest. "Where!? Where is he approaching from Tewi!?" The lack of response alarms her. "...Tewi?" Turning around she just about spots the black hair at the bottom of the hill.

"Bwahaha! How stupid can you be to fall for such an old trick?" She shouts as she keeps running at a surprising speed for someone of her size. "See ya! Gonna check out who Marisa is fighting...!" Her voice fades away as she disappears behind the next hill.

The white haired girl rubs her temple tiredly. "Great... I am going to get scolded again..." She sighs and starts chasing after the other girl...

----

"You are insane!" Gold mentally shouts, barely holding back his gleeful laughter.

"Well, you said you wanted challenge!" She replies cheerfully. "I am surprised that you are still capable of dodging my attacks."

"I have experienced your attacks, I prefer to avoid experiencing them again."

She laughs. "Well, good luck with that!" She nimbly stands up on her broom and takes out another Spell Card (how many does she have of those !?!) "Love Sign "Non-Directional Laser!""

Lasers, lasers everywhere! They just about manage to dodge them as some of them pass uncomfortably close them. Gold felt slightly annoyed. This was unfair! She was cheating. Too OP. Someone ban her!

"If you can't predict from where or what direction they are coming from, how will you dodge them?" She remarks with a mocking smile.

"Oh for the love of-. You are going to regret this!" Even as tired as he and Deoxys were, Gold was still burning with fighting spirit. Deoxys, your current state?

Bearable, continuous fight not recommended.

Huh, so he was exhausted. Better e- wooooahh! Deoxys only just avoids another master spark blast from Marisa. You look at her and she gives you mischievous wink.

That's it! I'ain't gonna have'er play around with me like this. Time to turn the tables! Gold focuses his mind completely on every movement she makes and on spotting every laser as it forms. Then he closes his eyes.

Deoxys... Gold could sense his core. Deoxys very being. His soul. He approaches it and softly touch it. It is pulsing, warm to the touch, yet so cold. He focuses on putting some of his own strength into it. He feels its pulse increase, the soft purple light increasing in intensity until it is nearly blinding. It is time. Gold retreats from Deoxys's depths and back to the surface.

Deoxys, Create Clones! As many as you are capable of!

---

Affirmative. He did not ask what his master had done nor why he felt this sudden surge of energy. Whatever his master had done had to be Rigth so the correct thing to do would be to go all out.

He opens up his arms...

---

She blinks, why were there suddenly 2 Deoxys? Wait, now there were 5, 16, 30....

Uh oh.

Those weren't illusions. She would know. Those were all... him?

She was surrounded. Hundred Deoxys on every side, blocking all means of escape. Her expression turns grim. Well, I ain't going to give up. That is not my way!

She takes out her last three Spell Cards. It was now or never!

---

Ohhh, no you aren't going to get away with that. Gold orders the Deoxys clones to charge into her at full speed.

Deoxys! Giga Impact!

Like a single entity the Deoxys clones launch their attacks. Their fists completely encased in a dark, pulsing energy. Marisa appears to be about to shout something, probably to activate her Spell Cards. Sadly she was just a second too slow.
Each punch strikes her with the power equivalent of a small meteor. Each punch throwing her around like a ragdoll. Gold is once again thankful that these were not physical attacks. Otherwise she would be dead.

"Kafffh! Achh! Ughhh!" Even though the punches weren't physical they were strong enough to punch the air out of her and leave her disoriented. Gold feels a pang of guilt watching this but quickly shakes the feeling off. He hadn't become a Pokémon Champion by being soft. He became one by seeing things through to the end. She wasn't really getting physically hurt anyways.

Gold forces himself to focus. Time for the next step of the plan. If it failed then it would be her victory.

Deoxys. prepare for Psychic Storm.

They cease their attacks as one and start circling Marisa, increasing their speed to the point that they appear to be nothing more than blurs.

"Whuh... wah...?" Marisa's eyes flutter open but the lights within remain dim. She was obviously still a bit out of it. Not that you were going to give her time to get back up.

Activate Psychich Storm!
With that single order, everything changed. The ground below is ripped up from its place and nearby trees are thrown miles into the air. Such was the ferocity of the storm. And at its center was Marisa. Even if she wanted to, there was no escape. The storm continued the barrage and gold watches as her strength is draining out of her.

A small smile spreads across his face. This had been a great fight of epic proportions. If he had been just a tiny bit slower it would have been their loss, not hers. At the back of his head Gold feels the links between Deoxys and the clones flicker. It was time for them to put an end to this.

Clones. Initiate Storm's End.
With a blinding flash, each and every clone explodes. Their destruction generating a chain reaction that causes the energy gathered in the center to go off with a magnificent bang that could be only be described as a 'Terrifying work of art'.

It is my win. Gold thinks cheerfully as he spots Marisa lying unconscious on her broom, softly gliding through the air. Ah. He had maaayybe gone a bit too far with that finisher, but only maybe.

Welp, best we get her down to the ground before we run out of fumes ourselves. Albeit their attacks hadn't truly been dangerous, that 20 meter drop probably was.

Suddenly Gold hears a scream coming from somewhere. It was at the place where his body was! He glances back at Marisa. Her unconscious body was slowly beginning to slide off the broom. If he didn't do something quickly she would be in danger.

I hope ye enjoyed this update ^_^

I was worried this was gonna be a touhoumon fic
10/10 great writing, actually set in gensokyo. Any chance of hanging out with Best Girl okuu?
Thanks a lot of the praise. Now excuse me while I store it in my treasure horde.

Now, the quest is still ongoing (if on hiatus currently) so there is a very real possibility of that happening at some point. One thing I have sworn is to never abandon quests, and that applies to this one.

It has been on a bit of a lengthy hiatus though, so I am hoping by doing this I get myself back into shape. ; )
Also, China best girl. Fite me!

Internal issues
Greetings dear readers
I am posting due to a certain issue I have realized is no doubt occurring for some of those that have checked this thread.

Due to the high amount of images and gifs in comparison to most stories/quests I do suspect that some of you may be experiencing frame lag when scrolling or viewing the page(s).

This is a result I had been worrying might happen once I posted the latest update. As it has a good amount of high res images and number of relatively high quality gifs/animation frames. All of which affect the rendering of the page to some extent.

Now, in the original quest thread itself this isn't an issue since the conversation between the readers/participants makes it so there is generally a page worth of comments between each update. Over here, however, in the Creativie Fiction part of SV this isn't the same. In this section of SV folk are (me included) checking stuff out to mainly to read various interesting/fun stories rather than taking part in the conversation.

I suspect it is doubly so for a story whose first chapter is already finished on another forum (and is a quest on that forum). Giving much less incentive for people to participate, theorize, write omakes, etc etc.

But even understanding that I am at bit of a loss. I want to post the (improved) updates/chapter parts in the way I originally intended, but due to how demanding having some of the images and gifs loaded in, all on a single page, I feel like some counter is necessary.

So I want to ask you guys whether you know about a method that might mitigate the impact the updates have. Additionally it would be lovely to know if putting, for example, the gifs in a spoiler tab it would lessen the workload on the reader's devices or simply increase it. I know the myth is that spoiler tabs improve framerate, but knowing how websites, especially these types, load in stuff, I do find that somewhat unlikely.
Nevertheless, if it actually works I want to know as then I would at least have something I can use to make your experience less laggy and load demanding.

That's all I wanted to say. I thank those of you that have followed my rambling so far and I do hope someone has a solution for this particular issue.

Chapter 1. Part 4
Latios should be able to handle it himself. Gold shoots towards Marisa, catching her just as she slips off the broom. For a split second unearthly cravings run through Gold's mind. He thirsted for something dangerous to a level that was far beyond natural. But as suddenly as it had appeared, the craving vanished. Gold (mentally) shakes his head. Curses, I almost got pulled into something irrecoverable. Well, at least it hadn't happened and that was all what mattered. He focuses back on what Deoxys was doing.

There we go. Be careful. We don't want her to get hurt after all this. Deoxys carries her with care as they slowly floated down to earth. As they land Deoxys falls down to his knees.

Energy out. Flight beyond me.

Don't worry.
Gold comforts him. We will just run back to the rest. Are you able to do that while carrying Marisa?

Deoxys nods.

Good. Lets go check what happened.

....

It takes less than ten minutes to find the clearing. As they get closer the sound of fighting was dying down.

Quick. Latios may need my help. Gold rushes Deoxys. He was well aware that Deoxys was too tired to keep fighting, but that didn't mean that Gold was. Sure, he felt some weariness, but since his body had not experience Marisa's attacks directly he should be able recover quickly, granted he got back into his own body soon.

Deoxys jumps into the clearing and Gold's stomach nearly sinks. The whole place was bloody, the ground, the stones and even the trees were splattered in crimson, guts covering some of the clearing. Gold is about to rush out of Deoxys's mind when he notices both Omastar and Latios standing in the middle of the clearing. Latios still in his human form, if a bit covered in blood. A small figure hiding behind those two, staring frightened over Latios shoulders.

Both Omastar and Latios notice Gold's and Deoxys entrance but only Latios turns around. Relief washing over her... his! His feminine, if slightly bloody, face.

"Master! I am relieved to see you unharmed! We were starting to worry." He exclaims with a soft, melodic voice. For a moment you feel like he is about to jump you but then that feeling dissipates.

"Welcome back sir." Omastar acknowledges Gold's presence with a slight nod but does not turn around. Rather he continues staring with surprising intensity towards the edge of the clearing.

Gold scans the clearing but fails to spot his body. Had something happened to it?

"Where is-"

"Inside my shell." Omastar replies before Gold is able to finish his question. "The situation was turning quite dire so I placed your body somewhere it would be safe."

"And that place was inside your shell?" Gold repeats dumbfounded. He wasn't exactly sure how to feel about this.

He nods "Indeed. But worry not! Even if an oni punched my shell it would not crack."

Gold decides it is better not to argue with him. "Very well, could you bring it out? Deoxys is exhausted and I think I would like to get back into my own body."

There is a slight pause but after a nod from Latios he sighs and pulls Gold's body out.

"Be careful. We are being besieged by lowly youkai. These are weaklings, but caution is still advised." he explains as he lays the body down, still eyeing the clearing with extreme wariness.

Gold quickly returns to his own body, immediately feeliing better. He returns Deoxys back to his ball where he could get some proper rest. Gold also gestures Omastar to pick up Marisa. The old pokémon quickly complies and puts her inside his shell.

"Could you clarify the situation a bit better?" Gold asks them as he stretches his body. It always stiffened up a bit while he was 'away' like that. "First of all, who is that?" Gold points at the girl floating behind Latios.

"Also a youkai, she ran into the clearing in the state you see her in. She has been hiding behind Latios since." The girl stares at Gold with open curiosity, he couldn't help but to notice that her teeth were sharp and predatory like. Yeah, she is definitely not a human. "I suspect that the youkai that attacked us were hunting her. Why they are hunting their own kin I fail to understand though."

Gold looks at the girl with a soft expression. "Is this correct?"

She nods sharply "So-nan'su!"

Hmm, was that an actual word? "Could you tell us why they attacked you?"

She pauses and looks fearfully around, once she is sure that nothing was rushing into the clearing she opens her mouth, making her sharp fangs even more noticeable. "I was just hunting. They appear in my territory and attack me. I try to defend but they were too many. I retreat and end up here."

Hmm, she doesn't seem to be lying. "Very well, I believe you." Gold looks up at Omastar. "Arthur, how many are left?"

Omastar closes his eyes. "Only 3 left, but they feel stronger than the pitiful excuses of youkai we have been dealing with so far."

"I assume they haven't been following the rules of danmaku. Am I right?"

"You are indeed right, master Gold. Though whether that is due to their lack of brains or if they are ignoring the rules on purpose I do not know."

Gold scratches his chin thoughtfully. If what Marisa told me before is true then it is likely the latter. Meaning that we do not have to follow the rules either when dealing with them. Well, seeing the state of the place it was obvious that neither Omastar or Latios had cared much about following the rules.

*Snap!*

Latios and Omastar react immediately, blocking whoever was approaching from being able to come near Gold.

"Be careful Master! they are coming!"

He goes over their options. They could retreat and avoid dealing with the youkai altogether. The idea of fighting appealed more to him though. The third option, although unlikely, the surviving youkai could perhaps be reasoned with.

Short update this time. I wonder what will happen...

Chapter 1. Part 5
Gold pushes his way past them. "Lets try to talk to them." He announces with a serious tone.

...

"Ehhhhh!?!" Omastar and Latios yell in unison.

Latios moves up to Gold. "Are you okay master?!" She pats him up and down. "Are you sick? You must be sick." She touches his forehead, eyes welling up from worry.

Omastar eyes him cautiously. "...You are master Gold are you not?" His feelers moving threateningly around. Just knowing what he was capable of was enough to make Gold sweat profusely.

Gold waves his hands around. "Woah woah! Calm down. Calm down! I am being serious here!"

"So am I Gold!" Latios shouts and grabs her chest tightly. "What do you mean by 'talk to them'!? I can sense those creatures thoughts. You can't reason with them!"

"Heh." Naive as always isn't he? "You rely too much on your ability Latios." Gold winks at her and grins. "Things are never black and white you know."

"I... but..." She twitches in surprise as he pats her head.

"Don't worry!" Gold reassures her. "Since you two are here to protect me I have nothing to worry about."

Her mouth opens and closes couple of times. She looks away. "...Fine... do whatever you want..." she mutters with puffed cheeks, her face beef red.

Gold pats her head some more. "Of course! When haven't I done that?" Turning around he scans over the forest with a confident grin. "OI! YOU THREE THERE! COME OUT OR WE BLOW UP THE ENTIRE FOREST!"

Latios and Omastar nearly fall over.

"W-what are you thinking master!? Do you re-" She stops herself as you sense something huge moving within the forest.

"Bwuuuhhhh... we have been found... bwwuuuuh." A presence that sounded like a mix between a pig and a bear edges closer to the exit of the forest. For a moment it looks like that the forest itself is moving, but then they realize it is the large bulpy frame of a creature.

Despite its huge bulk it was moving with surprising agility, hinting that his physical strength was a lot more than it appeared to be at first glance. The youkai was covered in tattoo like scars and the lack of any eyes in his sockets was unsettling to say the least. Though the most disturbing part was his unmoving smile.

"Hfn hfn, Le-ts hunt them. Eat their bones, rip out their entrails, crack their skulls!" The second youkai steps out, well, crawls out. Its movements that of a predator stalking its prey, its eyes darting between Gold and his pokémon like it was trying to decided which would be the best appetizer.

Its hands were oversized in comparison to the rest of its body and its shark like teeth could probably rip through steel. Its pale, unhealthy looking skin glistened from certain angles, giving him an even more ghoulish appearance.

"A most unfortunate situation. The element of surprise we have lost." A deep melodic voice says. The final youkai steps into the clearing.

The last one looked the most human-like of the three. Standing good 2.3 meters, its whole body oozed with strength. His chest plate showed that it had seen its fair share of action, bent inwards in number of places with a giant slash mark on the side. In his right hand he held a oddly shaped blade, red glowing patterns running down it sides. Something about the blade felt weirdly... familiar.

He walks ahead of the other two and stops short of 3 meters from Gold and his team. Both Latios and Omastar take up a position besides Gold, ready for anything.

"An oni... no, a half breed... We must be careful." Omastar mutters

He must be their leader. It was obvious that he was the most powerful of the three. Gold could easily sense his strength. Even his gait was that of an veteran fighter. Gold licks his lips, challenging him would be fun... He shakes his head. No! He had decided to try to find a peaceful solution and a peaceful solution was what they were going to get!

"Thanks for coming out of hiding!" Gold states cheerfully. "I wasn't actually expecting you guys to pay heed to my threat. But I admit it makes things easier."

"Words of emptiness you speak. To the point you should go if you want heads to stay." The bladed youkai warns.

Unmoved by his threat Gold continues. "Well, I was just trying to break the ice. No need to be hostile here." He points at himself confidently. "I am Gold. A Pokémon Champion and the one who will kick your arse if you try anything stupid." He waves his hands towards Latios and Omastar. "Those two are my companions. They will be the ones that will tear you apart if you try to attack me."

For a moment the youkai just stares at him. Then it starts laughing. "A lamb unafraid of death! Strong eyes, strong mind, strong smell. Warrior you may become!" He makes a small bow. "Yakunan is the name. Half-breed of nature. Walking death in the night." He looks back up. "The future demise of your trivial existence."

"Why you pitiful lower be-" Omastar growls but Latios stops him.

Gold continues smiling. "That may happen or it may not. I called you guys out for one simple reason. Can you be convinced to give up on your hunt today... or are you ready to risk everything?" He lifts up one of his pokéballs. "There are six of us and only three of you. We are all strong, very strong. If you are a smart you know when it is time to fight and when to retreat."

...

The youkai glares at him. Minutes pass, no one raising their voice. Then Yakunan shifts. Instantly Latios and Omastar move in front of you threateningly.

"Warriors knows when to retreat." With one wave of his hands the other two youkai start retreating back into the shadows.

"Tch, no bone gnawing gnawing, bone crushing, crumbling, breaking..." the pale one mutters and gives the group a venomous look as he disappears back into the forest.

Yakunan bows slightly to which Gold reflexively returns. "A strong mind. Quick. You have my respect. Devouring your heart when the stars die will be an honour." And with those words he turns around and leaves the clearing.

...

"Is he gone?" Gold asks Omastar in a low voice.

"He is gone far enough." He replies

"Hahhh..." He wipes his forehead. "That was intense." Gold stares at his shaking hand and clenches it. "I was so close to right out challenging them when I saw Yakan... Yakun... Yaku enter the clearing. Such strength... I am still shaking with excitement even though they are gone... I mean I-" Latios smiles awkwardly and Omastar sighs as Gold continues rambling about how much fun it would have been to fight him.

Something tugs at his sleeve. It was Latios. He points at something behind them. Turning around Gold is greeted by the youkai girl watching him with open curiosity. When she realizes that he have noticed a wide grin appears on her face. Wait... weren't her clothes badly torn only couple of moments ago?

She proceeds to spin on the air with outstretched arms, "Thanks onii-chan!" she says and gives Gold an innocent smile. "I am Rumia. "

He smiles back, holding back the sudden urge to squeeze those... soft... mellow... cheeks. "Hello Rumia. I am just glad that you are okay. How do you feel?"

She grins and moves in closer. "I am fine~♫." She then tilts her head confused. "Who are you onii-chan? I don't recognize you? You a new youkai~?"

"Haha, no I am just a boring old human!" Gold replies, shaking his head.

"So-nanoka~?" she replies and puts her nose up to him.

"Eh? What are you-"

*Kuuu kuu~* she sniffs him couple of times. She moves a bit back with a perplexed look. "Ehhh... You smell human... But you don't smell human?" She puts a finger under her chin thoughtfully. They could almost see the huge question mark floating above her head.

"Does he smell delicious or does he not..." She mutters

Wait what? He must have misheard what she said.

"Hey... onii~?" She starts. "I can find out if you are human or youki. Just let me eat you~." A small smile on her face, her eyes glowing with reddish light.

Gold takes a step backwards. "Err... I think I will pass on that offer if you don't mind."

She takes a step closer. Saliva trickling down her chin "Please~? It will just be one bite. I promise."
"I said no." Gold answers in a no-nonsense tone. Something about the nonchalant manner she was talking about this unnerved him.

"Too late~!" she shouts as she shoots towards you.

"Like I am going to let you! Reflect!" Latios shouts and a see-through wall forms in front of Rumia. With a loud *Cooong* she crashes right into it.

"Twhat fwhas mweean~" she cries, a small trickle of blood running down her forehead.

Latios eyes glow with dark blue light as she looks down at Rumia. "If you ever try to take a bite out of Master Gold again I will be tearing you limb from limb and feeding you to the wolves. Is. That. Understood?" Dark intimidating aura swirls around her.

"I waths only gointh to lichk him..." Rumia mutters, her cheek slightly swollen from crashing into the wall.

Latios voice becomes even colder. "What did you say?"

"Nothling. Nothling~" She replies immediately.

Latios turns around. "Good, lets keep it that way." The moment his back is turned Rumia sticks out her tongue.

"Bleeeh! You are no fun." She looks up at Gold. "Heey~ Onii-chan! I promise I won't eat you, so let me introduce you to my friends. They don't live far from here."

"Don't listen to her" Latios warns sternly. "She just tried to eat you." She gives Rumia a venomous look. "Her friends are probably the same sort. Human eating monsters."

Woah, harsh. Gold couldn't help but feel sorry for Rumia. Even if she had wanted to taste his flesh.

"Uuuuuuhhhhh"

Rumia eyes water up with tears as she lifts off the ground. You could see it in Latios face that he immediately regretted his words.

"I-" Latios starts but Rumia cuts him off.

"Stuwbid people!" Rumia shouts as she flies up in the air. "I jhust whanted to be friends!" and on these words she flies out of the clearing, tears running down her cheeks.

"Latios..." Omastar begins.

Latios looks away, "Yeah, I know. I went too far." He glances at Gold sheepishly. "What do you want to do, Master? If you want to chase Rumia I won't stop you."

Hmm... It might be a okay idea to do that. But he somewhat suspected that Rumia would quickly forget about this event altogether. She felt like the type. So she would probably be fine if they didn't follow her. Well, it wasn't exactly like they had that many options...

-----------------------------------------------
What?! An update so soon after the previous one? Call me a kettle and send me to the north pole, cause I didn't think I would have the time to do it so soon. ^_^

Edit. Oh and I changed the title to just being "The Great Danmaku War" as it was brought to my attention that having the "Gotta catch'em all" made it sound like this was a touhoumon story. Which appears to carry some sort of stigma I am unaware of (other than idea wise being maybe overdone concept for a quest/story).

Shame, I did like the combo title. But if it makes more people willing to give the story a shot I will accept it as a necessary evil.

Chapter 1. Part 6
No, he couldn't just leave things alone as they were. "Latios! Go up in the air. Try to spot her! I and Omastar will look for her from the ground!" Latios nods and shoots up into the air, reverting back to his true form as he did so.

She can't have gone far. If they made sure to cover both the sky and below the trees they would hopefully manage to locate her. Gold nimbly jumps on top of Omastar. "Lets go Omastar!"

"Very well!" Omastar replies as he thunders through the forest with him sitting on his shell. Gold takes up a pokéball and calls out Absol. She glances at her master curiously as she runs alongside them.

"Absol. I want you to try to locate the girl that ran away. Can you do it?"

She nods and disappears into the thicket.

For a moment Gold worries about Asbol, but she had her keen senses so she should be just fine. The more worrying thing was to leave Ru- err... Rumi? No, Rumia! The more worrying thing was to leave things as they were. The least he could was to apologize... and perhaps then he had a chance to... he shakes his head. No! Not the right time to think about that. There is always time... A subtle voice whispers at the back of his head, which Gold promptly ignores. Right now his priority was simply to find her.

He scans the forest, trees flying past his vision at high speed. Albeit the slowest member on the team, Omastar was still quite fast when it came to (mostly) straight sprints. Latios gently touches Gold's mind.

"I saw a weird shadowy sphere descend into the forest roughly a mile directly ahead of you." He notifies you. "Thanks Latios. Lets hope that was her." Gold glances down. "Omastar, stay on course. She is likely just a mile ahead of us."

"Rooooah!" Omastar responds by increasing his pace, the trees around them turning into blurs.

One minute later

"By Arceus! Did we miss her?" Gold glances around as Omastar sprints through the thicket. With the speed they were on they should have reached the area where she descended.

"Latios. Has Absol found anything?"

He is quick to reply. "Sorry Master. She hasn't found anything. She claims that her horn vibrated violently just a moment ago . She is currently recovering."

"Okay. Tell her to rest and to be careful." Incoming disasters could cause enough vibration from Absol horn to lead to minor concussion. Sometimes Gold wondered whether that horn was a curse or a blessing. In fact he always felt a bit angry at the world for making Absol that way.

"Will do Gold." He replies, waking him up from his thoughts.

Gold sighs and scratches his side. This had really been an eventful day and half. He was used to operate on limited sleep but even he was beginning to feel tad tired.

"Something wrong master Gold?" Omastar asks as he glances up at him.

"Ah, nothing wrong Arthur. Just a bit ti- WATCH OUT!!!" Gold shouts in panic as a girl wearing pink suddenly appears in their path.

Omastar forces his shell down, digging into the ground with all of his strength, somehow just barely avoiding the girl... or at least it seemed like he did. With a loud *Thunk* the shell strikes something.

"Kafuugh~!" Someone yelps in surprise.

With a loud *Crack!* Omastar comes to a stop, smashing into a large tree, flinging Gold off in the progress.

Shifting his body in a practiced manner gold rolls couple of times before regaining control, his clothes slightly dirty but no worse to wear. Standing up the first thing he notices is the devastation left behind by Omastar. Using the shell had obviously torn the ground up somewhat fiercely. Even then he had collided with the tree with enough force to crack it. Hmm, we might be able to work out a new move with that. Gold ponders at the back of his mind as he starts running. As he sprints past Omastar he glances at him. He appeared to be slightly disoriented but otherwise fine. A wave of relief washes over Gold before he turns his sights towards the girl. His mouth felt dry. What if she was dead?

To his relief and surprise she didn't appear to be hurt at all. As he got closer he notice what appear to be bunny ears on her head. A bunny youkai? Do those even exist? Well, no reason to doubt his own eyes. They looked real enough. Gold timidly approaches her, no need to scare her.

"Erm... are you okay...?" He asks cautiously. She timidly looks up. She was short, nearly two heads shorter than him. She was quite cute. Well, cute in the 'I want to pet her' kind of way. Suddenly her eyes swell up, tears flowing down her cheeks.

"Hawawawa..." Gold waves his hands around in panic. "What is wrong?! Are you hurt anywhere?!?" He inspects her up and down for any visible injuries. He was no good this kind of stuff (crying girls). He never knew what to do nor how to react.

She looks up at him with tearful eyes. "I..." *sniffle* "It huuwts sho muchhh!" *sniffle* She cries as the tears continue flowing down her face.

Woah... There was something endearingly cute about that crying face of hers he thinks at the back of his mind as he kneels down in front of her. Wait, no. His priorities right now was to make sure she was okay... even though she looked completely fine... at least physically. His battle and survival experience was telling him that she was completely fine, full bar of health and'all. Maybe she just got surprised? That would be a re-

"Mmmffffff!" A muffled sound comes from somewhere nearby.

Huh? What was that sound? Gold is about to stand up when she grabs your sleeve.

"Dhon't leave me..." She says between sniffles as she looks up to him with upturned eyes. Man... it was really hard to say no to those eyes. She looked like a stray pup- bunny begging for attention. Why would he-

"Mmmfffffflll!" There was that sound again. It had come from that tree over there, somewhere hidden above the first line of branches. Whatever it was it sounded like it was struggling. It might be in need of a help. Or perhaps some more folk I can fight? It was a tough call, help the puppy-bunny or go check out what that sound was. Actually, thinking about it like that did make the bunny stuff sound more appealing but so far Gold had never abstained from the possibility of a good fight. Man, there should be some way for he could both get and eat both cakes.

This is the final update for today (probably).

Chapter 1. Part 7
Nihihihihi... What a moron! Just look at him panicking! This is almost too easy~♫. It won't be any problem wringing every penny out of him. The dark haired bunny girl fights back a grin.

She glances at the backpack. Licking her lips.

Perhaps she could 'convince' him to give her its content?

"Mfffhhh!"

"Huh? What was that?" The boy mutters alarmed.

Tewi curses silently. She had hoped that she had been knocked out from the crash. The boy was turning around. She had to get his attention quick!

Grabbing his sleeve she looks up to him teary eyed. His face stiffens. Internally she smirks. It was time for the finishing blow.

"Dhoovn't leave me..." she begs in a meek voice. Yes! There it was, his expression softened. He was becoming like Reisen in her hands. Nihihihi~!

"Mfffffhhh!"

For the love of... Couldn't she stay silent for one second!? She was trying to do business over here! All of a sudden the boy tears at his hair and mutters something incoherent. Then he looks at her. Wait, what was that look in his face? She didn't like it one bit. He takes a step towards her. She lifts up her hands. "Wait... oaaaghhh!" She yelps in surprise as the boy grabs her around the waist and lifts her up.

--------

Moments before

Gahhh! I can't decide! Okay, take deep breaths. Lets get our priorities straight. Bunny Girl. Tree. Wait... there was one more thing... Ah! Rumia! I forgot Rumia!
Gold tears at his hair. How could he have forgotten something so important?!? Things were even more complicated now. He couldn't remain here. He had to find Rumia! Every moment wasted meant more distance between him and her. But I can't leave things here as they were...

He glances at the 'Puppy-Bunny Girl' as he had so aptly named her in his head. He looks at the tree and then back at the girl. Hmmmm... A light bulb appears above his head.

That's it! I will just take Puppy-Bunny Girl with me. Save whoever is in trouble and deal with both while we look for Rumia. Gold hits his fist onto his open palm. This is a perfect plan!

Without a word he executes the first phase in his 'flawless' plan. Puppy-Bunny Girl yelps something as he picks her up but he ignores it. Time was on the essence and he would be wasting precious minutes if he had to explain his idea right now. Gold is vaguely aware the soft feeling of her stomach through the fabric. She didn't seem to be wearing a shirt underneath the dress. She really was a kid. He trots over to the tree. Below the tree he spots various trinkets and food strewn around below it. How odd. Perhaps this tree is somehow holy and people leave trinkets as a way to show their faith? Possibly but he would have to ask about that after he had helped whoever was in trouble. He scans for a good branch to grab on. Ah, there was one.

"Oi, boy! Drop me down or I will-oooiiihhh!"

The Puppy-Bunny Girl begins to say something but stops when Gold jumps up and grabs the branch. Using his momentum and weight he swings himself and her up onto the tree in one swift motion.

What greeted him above the branches was a bizarre sight.

There was a (feminine) butt sticking out of the tree. It was wearing a short purple skirt. So short in fact that he could see the pink striped underwear sticking out from underneath it (slightly childish but still kind of cute). An odd thought seizes him. "Huh, so butts grow in this world. Can't say if I feel happy or terrified by the prospect of being killed by a swarm of butts.... being butted to death didn't sound as appealing as it should."

Gold shakes his head. Okay, that was enough with the butt jokes. He had to be more tired than he thought.

"Mfffff!!!"

The butt wriggles around revealing that there was an actual body attached to it.

Gold wiggles a bit closer and realize that the owner of the glorious butt had her head stuck in the tree.

How could that have happene- oh, ohhhhh! A flashback back to when Omastar collided with something passes through his mind.

Gold snaps his fingers. "She must be the one we hit!" He mutters in realization. He glances down at Puppy-Bunny Girl who seemed to be actively avoiding meeting his gaze.

How does she fit into all of this? Since the Glorious Bosom Girl over here is the one that got hit. That means that Puppy-Bunny Girl didn't get hit after all... Hmmm... maybe they know each other and she just went into shock from seeing her friend get hit?

Gold nods to himself. That must be it!

"Mmmfff!"

The girl struggles again but seems unable to free herself.

"You stuck?" He asks for confirmation.

"Mfff?"

"Me? I am Gold, Pokémon League Champion."

"Mff mff mffff!"

"Pleasure to meet you too. Want help getting free?"

"Mfffffh!!!!"

He grins. "No worries! You will hardly feel a thing!"

"...Mfff...?"

"Humpfh!" Gold leaps down from the tree and land solidly back on the ground, careful to soften the fall for the Puppy-Bunny Girl. She was glancing at him with a weird expression now.

Taking out a pokéball Gold throws it to the ground.

"Charizard! I choose you!"

With the shout the ball opens in a fiery explosion. Puppy-Bunny gasps as she sees what exits the explosion.

"A dragon? Impossible..." She whispers wide eyed.

Gold nods at his fire breathing friend with pride. Ever since he was just a tiny charmander he had been taking care of him. Perhaps that was part of the reason why Charizard's personality resembled his own so much.

Charizard takes a deep breath and lets out a loud roar. Nearly scaring nearby fauna to death.

Looking at him more closely Gold notices that most of his wounds from the fight with Red had hardly begun healing. He sighs. Ever since Gold caught him he had refused to be treated by traditional medical items. Only allowing basic bandages and natural herbs to be used on him. Even preferring to let his wounds heal on their own. This, of course, lead to a lot of scarring which he wore with pride. Each scar a proof of a worthy fight.

He roars once more before devoting his full attention to Gold. His towering presence able to unnerve even the strongest foe.

"How are you feeling?" Gold asks him smiling.

He growls reassuringly as he stretches out his wings.

"Great. I know you are still recovering but could you do me a small favour? I promise that you can go back to sleep once that is done."

He rubs his head up to Gold and puffs out a small smoke cloud. Chuckling Gold pats his head. "Thanks buddy. I knew I could rely on you." Gold points towards the tree. "A person is stuck there. Could you Cut them out without harming them?"

Charizard harumphs. Raising his head he examines the Bosom Girl a bit before looking down at Gold accusingly.

Gold scratches his head. "Err.... yeah... it is kind of our fault." He admits. Charizard puffs out another smoke cloud before sniffing Bosom Girl a bit.

"Mfff...?"

"Don't worry!" Gold shouts. "It is just my fire breathing dragon memorizing your smell!"

"Mffff... MFFF!"

Bosom Girl suddenly starts kicking her legs around frantically.

"He will cut you loose in a moment." Gold continues. "Just relax and don't move a single muscle!"

"MFFF! MFFFFFFFF!"

Gold looks up at Charizard. "You ready?"

He roars

"Good. Whenever you are ready then." Gold pats Charizard's leg before moving a good distance away. Being too close right now could be fatal, or at least cost a limb or two.

----

Charizard inspects the tree. Carefully memorizing every oddity about it.

He closes his eyes.

Silence... It was as if the whole forest was holding its breath.

He opens his eyes. His eyes burning with fierce resolve. With a mighty roar he slashes the tree. Pieces flying off it in multiple directions. In a less time than it took you to breathe out the tree was completely cut up.

"Iaaaahhh" Someone shrieks from above and Gold sees Bosom Girl falling down where the tree had been standing a moment ago.

With his superior reflexes Charizard attempts to catch the falling person, but misses her by an inch as a painful twitch shakes his whole body, causing him to nearly faint.

"Ahhhh-Ouch!" Among the fallen splinters and branches sat Bloso-Bosom Girl rubbing her rear end whilst grimacing.

"Nicely done mate!" Gold says cheerfully. His master was as cheery as always, which meant that he had done good. Charizard felt the exhaustion wash over him again. His previous fight had taken almost everything he had and this little thing had been the final straw. Gold, of course, noticed this right away and lifts up Charizard's pokéball. "Here you go friend. Now you can rest. Thanks for the help!" Charizard pauses for a moment before he fnisses out a dark cloud of smoke in embarrassment and returns to the pokéball.

---

"Thanks friend" He whispers to the closed pokéball. He had noticed from how Charizard moved at the end that he was completely exhausted. Fastening the pokéball to his belt he returns his attention to the Bosom Girl who was still rubbing her bottom whilst wincing slightly. Gold releases Puppy-Bunny Girl and walk over to the Bosom Girl, crouching down in front of her.

"So... how are you feeling? Any bits missing?"

Her ears lower and she sighs deeply as tears flow down like rivers down her face. "I saw my life flashing before my eyes..."

Gold scratches his chin and smiles embarrassingly. "Ehehe, sorry about that. This was fastest way I could think of getting you free."

---

She lifts a hand reassuringly. "Don't worry, I am used to these kind of scenarios..." Her shoulders slump and she sighs deeply again. Why always me...? She wonders. Was she destined to be the butt monkey no matter how much time passed? She looks up at the boy talking to her and her eyes widen up in surprise. Glancing over his shoulder was a somewhat nervous Tewi. A surge of relief washes over her. Tewi was okay and hadn't ran further on without her. Something about that warmed her heart.

"Ah Tewi! I am so glad you are unharmed!" She says brightly, her smile too pure for Tewi to face straight on.

"Ehm... yeah! I am completely fine. Ehehehe..."

Reisen puffs out her cheeks. "But I won't forgive you for running away when I told you to stop. That fight Marisa was having was dangerous. We don't even know who she was fighting!"

"Oh? That was me." The boy says, pointing to himself with a wide (if a bit cocky) grin.

Reisen and Tewi stare at him blankly.

.........

"Eeeeeehhhh!?!"

----

Woah. Both of them seemed quite surprised over his claim.

"You are just a kid" Puppy-Bunny Girl says and looks at Gold suspiciously. She was one to speak.

"It didn't look anything like you." Bosom Girl adds.

"And even if you did, how'd you manage to stand up in Marisa's hair?" Puppy-Bunny Girl follows with.

They were barraging him with questions. He sighs. They didn't have quite the time for this. They had to continue their search for Rumia. Time to execute the second phase of the plan!

"Where did you learn to flyaaaahhh!"

"What was that tewwiiioaahhh!"

Grabbing both bunny girls around the waist He lifts them over his shoulders. It was kind of surprising how light they felt. He had expected them to be quite heavy but for some reason he could lift them with remarkable ease. Hmm, maybe something worth investigating later when he had time to spare.

"I can't explain right now but once we are seated and on the right path I might explain the fight. Understood?" Before they get a chance to reply Gold whistles loudly, getting Omastar's attention. "Hey Omastar. You don't mind if we get two more on-board do you?"

A visible vein protrudes just above his eyes. "Not if that is your wish Gold." He replies, though it was obvious to anyone watching that he wasn't happy about it.

"Great. We are jumping on then!" Gold states as he leaps at a tree next to Omastar, using that as a halfway platform to kick off and up onto him. Neat, wasn't actually sure that was gonna work. Maybe this place has less gravity than back home? He puts the girls down and point ahead in a dramatic fashion. "Lets continue with our hunt then!"

Grumbling Omastar starts running. As he starts to gain some speed Latios contacts Gold and informs him that Absol has spotted someone with the same scent. Great. Tell Absol to remain where she is. We will be over shortly! From the image Latios had sent him Absol was a good distance away. It might take some time getting over there, especially as the foliage appeared to be getting thicker, meaning that Omastar wasn't going to be able to keep up the same pace as before. This might be a good time to get to know these two bunny girls while Omastar made his way to Absol.

This is technically not the same day right? >;P

Chapter 1. Part 8
After giving Omastars the new coordinates Gold turns back to the bunny girls, whom were sitting awkwardly on top of Omastar's shell. He had to admit to himself that he hadn't quite thought things through when he decided to take these two with him. There wasn't much space for all three of them to sit comfortably so the bunny girls had opted a rather uncomfortable looking half-sitting, half-standing position. Gold wraps his hand around one of Omastar spikes and lifts himself up to the top of the shell.

"Sorry about abducting you guys like that..." Gold scratches the back of his head with an embarrassed grin. "I was panicking a bit and for some reason this seemed like a good idea at the time." He finishes and bows his head slightly in apology.

There was a brief silence as the bunny girls glance at each other.

"Don't worry about it boy." The shorter bunny says with a playful grin. "I don't dislike rash people like you." Gold blinks. She was behaving completely different from before. Ah well, at least she didn't seem to hate him.

The taller one with the long silvery white/purple hair nods. "You shouldn't worry about it master..."

"Gold" He replies. Master? What am I? Some sort of royalty? It felt weird being addressed in such a manner. Not unpleasant, just weird.

She nods and smiles, her ears visibly relaxing. "Very well, master Gold. I am sure you had no ill intentions behind your actions. You saved my life after all. A person that saves others without asking for something in return can't possibly be a bad person."

Gold has to rub his eyes, nearly blinded by her radiance. She's an angel... Or incredibly naive. Maybe both. He had been playing with the idea of asking for something for saving her... even though he had 'technically' been the one that caused her to get stuck in the first place. Well, that was impossible now without being a douchebag, and he really didn't like douchebags. Especially Silver, curse that bastard... He quickly stops himself before his face starts contorting from anger. Instead, he divert his attention back to the girls.

The short one was lecturing the taller one. "You're wrong. there're people out there that would..." Hmm, she felt older of the two. He wasn't sure why, but his guts were telling him that was the case. As he got a better look at them he realizes that both were quite attractive... in their own unique way. The Bosom Girl had a beautiful hourglass figure. Her breasts filling up her uniform perfectly... or maybe they were hiding some of their true greatness behind the clothing? Her bottom was magnificent (something Gold had already noticed a while back) and she had the kind of smile that could make the coldest heart melt. Her silky hair shining like rivers of silvery purple or light purple depending on how the light reflected off it.

The Puppy-Bunny Girl was just that. A short adorable creature with huge eyes that one could sink into if one wasn't careful. Her short wavy hair nicely contrasting to her snow-white fluffy ears, which in turn were in sharp contrast to the more hare looking ears of the Bosom girl. Her short stature and petite form feeling oddly refreshing. Still, there was something about her demeanor that was telling Gold she was a lot older than she looked.

Gold continues smiling as he watches them argue. They reminded him of those siblings he met a long time ago that couldn't stop arguing for a single minute but still somehow were able to fight as one when it came to pokémon battles. Hmm... their argument was heating up. Time to step in.

"Sorry for butting in." Gold butts in cheerfully as he moves in closer. "But would you mind telling me your names?"

Both of them stare at him, almost as if they had forgotten about him. The Bosom Girl claps her hands together and stands up. A veritable feat considering the terrain and the speed they were traveling on. "Ah, I am sorry master Gold. I am Reisen Udongein Inaba." She says as she makes a small polite bow.

"Sit down before ye get hit by a branch Udonge." The Puppy-Bunny advises Bo-Reisen with a half smile as she pulls at her. As much as she was trying to hide it behind her casual expression she seemed to be genuinely worried. Reisen blushes slightly and sits down, just in time for a branch to fly above where her head had just been a moment ago. It felt a bit odd to Gold to be worrying about a mere branch considering she could survive a full Body Slam by Omastar without a scratch, but he decides to keep those thoughts to himself.

The Puppy-Bunny Girl winks at him. "I am Inaba Tewi, but you can call me 'Tewi, leader of the Earth Rabbits'."

Gold blinks. "Tewi, leader of the- Do I have to remember all of that?" He asks a bit distraught. He was already awful with names and titles and that had been a bit too long.

"Nihihi, no need. Tewi is enough ~usa." She replies chuckling.

Reisen looks at Gold with a warm smile. "You are an outsider are you not? Is there anything you are burning to ask about?"

"Yeah, what're your 3 sizes and your favorite position?" He says jokingly. Immediately he wants to bash his head up to a wall. Nice going Gold! Ask the only person that likely won't understand the joke such a question! He glances up at Reisen.

.........

Yep, she definitely had frozen up. Her face was slowly turning redder and redder.

"87-60-89"

Both He and Reisen react by staring at Tewi, who seemed thoroughly amused by the situation.

"Say what now?"

She looks at him with a devilish smile. "Her three sizes are 87, 60 and 89. She doesn't have a favorite position and until recently she believed the storks were the one who brought the babies. As for me..."

"It. is. a. secret~♫" she says and sticks out her tongue. "But if you want to know more embarrassing secrets about Reisen I am more than willing to tell you... for a price~" She whispers and makes a money sign with her hand.

Seeing him frown her grins widens. "Nihihi, here is a freebie to prove my info is worth it. When she gets drunk she tends to w-"

"Hawawawawa!" Reisen waves her hands in front of Tewi, cutting her off. "You don't need to tell him that! I will die from embarrassment!"

"Ufufu~ It is hardly more embarrassing than when you tried t-"

"Hawawawa! Please Tewi! Don't tell him!" She blocks Tewi's mouth with her hands. Her face was as red as a tomato, even her ears had a reddish hue about them.

Gold chuckles and Reisen gets even redder, if that was even possible. They really were like siblings... or bondmates? Heh, that could be the case. Though if that was the case then- huh?

Did he just see a girl fall into the water? He was sure he had heard an audible splash just as he had glanced in that direction. Did she fall or was she just swimming? Wait, who swims with their clothes on? This thought was nagging him but it was getting a bit crowded and as things were there was likely that that person was in no danger at all. Yes, that was probably the case... but...

Chapter 1. Part 9
Gold scowls. He couldn't in good faith just look away from someone in potential danger. "Turn around!" He shouts at Omastar. "I think I saw someone in need of aid!"

"One more? I can't believe that this... grrmmmm" Omastar mutters something under his breath while he makes a wide turn around. "You realize that soon there won't be any space left?"

"The girl is probably okay, I just want to make sure." Gold replies serious. If it turned out that the girl got hurt or died because he didn't do anything he wouldn't be able to forgive himself.

"Where was it?" Omastar asks as he slows down.

"Between those trees!" Gold shouts as he points towards the small clearing. Even before Omastar gets a chance to stop Gold drops off him and begins sprinting towards the pool. "Come as soon as you can!" He shouts towards him and the bunny girls. If the person was drowning then he had n-Ack!

Gold collapses to his knees, gripping at his chest. Immeasurable pain pulses through his every nerve. He feels his heart beating violently like it is trying to break out of his body. "Wh-what... is happening!?" his whole body felt like it was burning up. For split second his hand's form shifts and changes, then, it was back to normal. His vision turns blurry and then blood red. He feels this unnatural need to... what? As fast as it began, the pain disappears. Leaving a weird lingering feeling of... want? Like something familiar had been calling out to him. No... that wasn't it... He rises up and shakes his head. Whatever it was it could wait! He had a person to check on!

Worming his way past the trees he finally reach the pond. The surface was dark blue, the few rays of light getting through the thicket, striking the calm surface reflecting softly off the dark pool. Gold scans the pool frantically. He didn't see any signs of the girl. A feeling of dread fills him. Maybe I am too late? He disregards that thought immediately. It didn't matter what he thought. Every second he wasted could mean the difference between life and death. Without a second thought he wades into the pool moving his hands around underwater to cover more area.

"This is the place?" Omastar asks in confirmation as he approaches the pond from a small opening between the trees. Gold nods and keep searching. Omastar sighs "Just give me a second." Four of his feelers go into the water and Gold feels like his whole body is vibrating. Omastar sighs again and moves his feelers out of the water. "Stop searching. The only being with a human sized mass in this water is you."

Gold stares at him. "You sure?"

Omastar stares intently into his eyes. "I am sure master Gold. There is an underwater current but no human could have gotten outside the range of my senses this quickly. If there was someone here, then that person has already left the area." For a moment it seems like Omastar is about say something more but stops himself.

Gold breathes a sigh of relief. "Well, good to know. Then we can continue with our- hmm?" Something catches his eyes near the edge of the pool. At a glance it just looked like a small pile of firewood but as he got closer to it you realize it is a small wooden shrine that had simply fallen to the side. Gold had seen these kind of things before. They were usually scattered all around to honour various gods. It was kind of sad seeing the small shrine in this state. Probably some animal had bumped into it... or someone that had nothing better to do decided it was fun to disrespect this place by pushing it down. Either way it didn't look like anyone was going to be fixing it in the near future.

The next update is pretty huge so this small one will have to do for now.

Chapter 1. Part 10
Gold lifts up a finger towards Omastar. "Just a minute, I need to do something before we leave." Wading through the cool water he helps himself up to dry land. Inspecting the shrine he feels sense of relief seeing that it was mostly undamaged, even if it had fallen over. "Hmm... this shouldn't take long." He mutters to himself. With a grunt he lifts the shrine carefully up and puts it back on the flat stone disk it had been laying next to. Moving couple of stones up to it and behind it he makes sure that it was firmly set in place. What did those old dudes usually do when praying in front of such shrines? He thinks back for a moment before remembering that they had always made some sort of offering before praying. Rifling through his backpack he takes out some of the rations he had brought over with him. The god (or gods) of the shrine must appreciate getting some fresh fruit right? Laying the fruits down inside the shrine Gold claps his hands together and closes his eyes.

Frowning he wonders what he should pray for... hmm.... ah! Smiling he prays that for many more fun encounters and fights... oh and some place to sleep, preferably someone nice to sleep with as well. Clapping his hands couple of times together, imitation how the priests did it, then he stands up. Somehow he feels like there is a different aura coming from the shrine than when he had found it. Maybe the gods had listened to his prayer. Gold grins and shakes his head as he returns to Arthur and the bunny girls.

"Are you done master?" Omastar asks, his tone hinting that he was becoming more than a little impatient. Clapping his shell reassuringly Gold smiles. "Yes I am!" Jumping up on his shell he points ahead. "Lets go find our new friend!"

"Wrong direction..." Omastar mutters and uses one of his feelers to point in the opposite direction.

"Ah right!" Gold laughs and scratches his head, blushing slightly as Tewi smirks and Reisen chuckles. "Over there then! Onwards mighty steed!"

---------

"...."

"What seeks thou thoughts?" An ethereal voice asks the girl standing by the shrine.

"That boy... there was something odd about him..." The girl replies, and odd gleam in her eyes.

"Hoooh...?" The ethereal voice exclaims in mild surprise. "Thou usually don't take much interest in mortals like him. What has wrought such a change?"

The girl shrugs. "Not sure, but I feel that the boy is... different from the humans of the village."

"Mayhaps in him runs godly blood?" The voice suggests. "Is he of our kin?"

Shaking her head the girl crouches in front of the shrine and takes one of the oranges Gold had left as an offering. "Not sure, but I doubt it. It feels too chaotic to be ours." Taking a sizable bite off the orange she continues, a bit of juice running down her cheek. "Perhaps a closer inspection may be required...?" She wipes her mouth, an impish smile on her face.

The odd, ethereal voice sighs. "Please do not cause undue complications. We cannot afford another incident.... And return that orange, 'tis an offering to the shrine." She adds

"Awww... Don't be like that~ I got him over here to fix the shrine did I not?" Puffing out her lips the girl nevertheless returns it.

"...So. What is thou plan?" The voice inquires, a tinge a worry in her voice.

A wicked grin spreads across the girl's face. "Don't worry about a thing. The kid will come to us. I am only going to give him a slight... push."

The ethereal voice sighs again. "...I recognize that look." After a short pause she continues. "Do as thou wish."

Chuckling the girl rises off the ground. "That's the plan."

----------

"So, has she changed location Latios?" Gold asks as he attempts to keep balance as he stands on one of Omastar's spikes.

"She has not. Absol tells me that she has been feeding on something for a while. You should try to hurry though. She may fly off again at any time."

"Roger that! We are currently en-route to her location! I see you there!" Gold replies before lowering himself down, sitting down on the spike, enjoying the wind as Omastar sped through the forest.

"You seem to be enjoying yourself" An unfamiliar voice comments.

Gold grins. "Of course I am. I am in a different world, recently fought one of the toughest battle in my life and just me- whooooaaa!" Nearly falling off the spike he grabs onto it in panic. Looking up he is face to face with a girl that was sitting on Omastar's shell... sideways.

"Is something the matter boya~? She asks in a calm manner as she smiles mildly towards him.

Rightening himself he looks at her stunned. "Well, that is, I mean, how do you do that?!" He asks, his curiosity getting better of him.

She tilts her head in amusement. "I wonder how~." Then her expression turns serious. "Mortal, I want to give you this." She says and hands him a green snake talisman. "Seek us out at Youkai Mountain. We will be waiting up at the Shrine. Show them this if they try to stop you."

Gold looks at the talisman surprised. "Thanks but I wou-" He freezes up as he looks up. The mysterious girl disappeared. "I, that..." Had he just seen a real ghost? Blood drains rapidly from his face. This world was filled with youkais after all. Hadn't Marisa also mentioned something about spirits?

"Something wrong master Gold?" Reisen asks him troubled. "You look like you saw a ghost."

Pocketing the jade charm Gold gives Reisen a worried smile. "N-nah, I just thought I saw something cool...I hope... No need to worry about me. I am completely fine! Ahahahahaha.ha...haaaa...." His laughter dies down into a nervous chuckle. "Completely...fine..." Gold sighs and falls silent. Calm down Gold. Was it truly a ghost? He shakes his head. Her hand had felt quite solid, and warm, and soft. She had also given him that charm. He touches the jade charm in his pocket, it was cool to the touch and definitely real. That girl must have been some youkai. Yeah, that was probably the case. Slapping his cheeks he gives Reisen a reassuring grin. "Yeah, I am fine. I am just worried about Rumia."

Reisen returns his smile. "I am sure things will go well."

Feeling re-energized Gold laughs. "You are right! Omastar, full speed ahead!"

------

"You are horrible."

"Kiririkiririri~" The girl snickers as she floats between the trees. "He's an interesting kid. I am sure he will find his way to us."

"Are you sure? He may forget." The ethereal voice points out.

"Doubt it."

"...What makes you say so?"

Flying through the air the girl smiles. "Call it a hunch"

------

"How soon will we reach her?"

"At your speed you should be there in couple of minutes. Rumia hasn't moved since the last time you asked." He replies, sounding a bit miffed.

"Thanks, we will see you there then!" Gold closes the mental link and turn around to face the bunny girls. "We are about to reach her! Just a couple of more minutes. Thanks again for accompanying me!"

Tewi mutters something about not having any choice while Reisen just smiles. Then, out of the blue both of them turn serious, their ears twitching in alarm. "You hear that?!" Tewi exclaims and Reisen nods.

Gold looks at them surprised. "Hear what?" The only thing you could currently hear was the wind.

Reisen looks at him seriously. "There is someone nearby, I can hear their voice, but it sounds muffled, almost as if they were trying to hide it." She looks in every direction, her eyes scanning the surrounding area with incredible tensity. "I cannot see them but I am sure of it, they are close by"

Voice muffled? Nearby? It takes a moment for the realization to strike him. "Quick jump off!" Gold shouts as he stands up, taking a pokéball out of his belt as he does so. "Now!"

Not waiting for an explanation Reisen grabs Tewi and jumps off, landing without effort a fair distance away. Cursing under his breath Gold shouts, hoping above everything that he was going to be fast enough. "Omastar. Return to me, now!" At the same time another voice can be heard. "...Master Spark!" The split second Omastar turns into energy a beam of yellow light shoots up into the air, blasting up where Gold and the girls had been sitting just a moment ago. Marisa's eyes widen up in surprise as Gold and her collide with each other in the air. Crashing into the ground tangled together and tumbling through bushes and foilage, coming to a stop in a small clearing between trees, quite a distance from the path they had been on.

For a minute they do nothing but try to catch their breath, their clothes ripped and torn but them otherwise unharmed besides few scratches.

"That... haaa... was... close... haaa" Gold wheezes out between breaths.

"It... hahhh... was." Marisa replies, panting.

A minute passes before either says anything.

"So I almost-?" Marisa starts.

"Yep"

"Which means-?"

"Yep"

"..."

Suddenly they both burst out into laughter.

"Haahhh, that scared the hell out of me." Gold states as he sighs in relief.

"Sorry" Marisa apologizes, sounding a bit remorseful.

Gold shakes his head. "Nah, don't worry about it. No one got hurt... well, not badly at least, and plus, you woke up in a dark confined place without no knowledge of what was going on. I would have done the same."

"Bet you would." She replies. "aaah.... I feel tired." She mutters as she stares at the sky, her body sprawled out.

"Same.." Gold yawns. "After I apologize to Rumia I am going to start looking for a place to stay the night. I don't think it is a good idea to sleep outside here."

"You can stay over at my place... that is, if ye don't mind cleanin' out bit of junk from the guest room ~ze" Marisa offers with a grin.

"You mean it?!" Overjoyed he turns towards her, his eyes glimmering. "That would be great!"

She chuckles. "Don't jump on it just yet, ye will regret things if you decide on something without thinking about it."

"Hmm... good point." Standing up he extends a hand to her. "Either way, thanks for the offer. It think it is time to let the bunny girls know that we are alright."

"Bunny girls?" she repeats puzzled as she accepts Gold's hand.

Gold grins as he helps her up. "I will explain on the way."

Few minutes later

"That is when we-" Gold puts a stop to his explanation as they enter a large clearing. At its center was a large bubble of darkness. "Ah, seems like we have arrived! Latios, you can come down now!"

Right on queue Latios lands besides him, startling both Reisen and Marisa considerably. Noticing their alarmed looks Gold raises his hand. "Don't worry it is a friend. This is Latios, one of my companions"

"Greetings" He says politely as he transforms into his usual female humanoid form.

"Hello there!" Marisa says cheerfully and grasps Latios hand strongly, shaking it up and down.

Gold squints his eyes. "Hmmm.... Absol should be nearby... Latios, where is she?"

"She wishes to observe from a distance. Apparently she is suspicious of all the new faces." Latios replies in a soft voice, donning a troubled smile as Reisen imitates Marisa's... unique greeting method.

Nodding Gold accepts her words. "Very well, tell her she can jump in whenever she feels comfortable though. I won't force her to meet them if she doesn't want to."

"As you wish, master."

Cracking his fists he turns to the shadowy sphere at the center of the clearing. "Now, I need to somehow get her out of the bubble don't I? Kind of hard to meet eye to eye if you can't see the person's eyes."

Marisa puts a hand on Gold shoulder, wearing a soft smile. "Rumia is quite simple. Just call out to her. If she likes you then that will be enough to get her out."

Gold nods. "Very well I will do just that."

------

"Oooiii. Rumia!? Are you in there?! It is Gold! I need to talk to you" He shouts towards the globe.

"...Oni-chan?" A low voice escapes from the shadowy sphere.

"Yes Rumia! It is me, Oni-chan." He cringes slightly as he feels the piercing stares from Marisa and Reisen, while Tewi appears to have a hard time keeping her laughter in. "Latios didn't mean what he said. He feels very sorry about what he did. He... I... We want to apologize! Could you come out?"

"You... came? ...for me...?" The sphere of darkness begins to dissipate. Gold couldn't see what was inside, but Rumia could see the outside, and him, clearly.

He... didn't run...? Rumia felt puzzled. No human had ever done that before. Usually they just ran away screaming or tried to attack her. But he had been different. He had protected her and then gone looking for her, even though she had said that he looked tasty... She felt an odd emotion. One she wasn't used to. It was an odd tingling feeling that made her chest hurt.

"You aren't... scared...?" She asks cautiously, a touch of fear in her tone.

Gold scratches his cheek puzzled. "Scared of what?" He goes down to one knee and looks in the direction of her voice. "Now, it is kind of hard to apologize to you through that darkness of yours, so I would love if you could leave it and come over here so I can do this proper." He gives her a wide smile, free of any ill intentions.

"Oni...chan" She whispers to herself, almost in disbelief. "Oni-chan!" She then shouts as she dispels the darkness around her.

Gold is a bit startled as Rumia rushes towards him, partially covered in blood and guts. Before he can react she jumps him, pushing him down on the ground.

"Oniii-chan..." she repeats, her blood red eyes giving off dangerous light.

Gold grins. "Rumia! You have no idea how happy to see you." Albeit I could do without my clothes getting covered in blood. He thinks to himself. Bringing only one spare set of clothes up to Mt. Silver had clearly been a mistake. Not that he could have really planned for being dragged into a different world where magic, youkais and gh- other things existed. He nods to himself confidently. Indeed. No on could really blame him for being unprepared, yep, no one.

While Gold was busy nodding to himself Rumia continues muttering oni-chan like it was some sort of mantra. Blinking, Gold realizes that he had just been nodding to himself and not saying anything. Smiling in embarrassment he looks up to her. "Sorry about before, Rumia. Latios didn't mean what he said. Can you forgive him?" There was a touch of worry in his voice.

"Oni...chan..." Rumia tone shifts and her eyes begin to clear up. Followed with a huge smile and a nearly bone breaking hug. "Oni-chan!"

Not ready for the soul-crushing hug, Gold expels most of the air from his lungs as Rumia wraps her small hands as tightly around his chest as she could.

"I...*gasp* am... *whine* glad... that... you... *gasp* are... happy... but..." He wheezes between gasps of air, his face bright red.

"...but Gold would like if you weren't clinging on him so tightly." Latios butts in, clearly upset (for some reason), and tries to forcefully pull her off him.

"prrrrrrrrr...." Rumia sticks her tongue out at Latios and hugs Gold even tighter, causing his face to turn slightly purple with him slapping a hand rapidly to the ground. "Oni-chan is Rumia's Oni-chan! I stay with Oni-chan!

"Why you..." There was a dangerous gleam in Latios eyes. Noticing that, the now nearly suffocating trainer tries to get loose. Surprisingly, Rumia lets him do that. But only for her to put her hands around his neck, making it hard to stand up.

Well, at least I can breathe now. Gold thinks to himself as he takes a deep gulp of delicious air. "Well, since this is done with I think it is best that I find some place to stay for the night." Rising up with Rumia still hanging on him he glances towards Tewi and Reisen with a smile. "Thanks for accompanying me all this way. If not for you, Omastar and I might have ended up toasted." Marisa twitches slightly at that.

"It was nothing." Reisen replies panicky and waves her hands in front of her. "It was fun meeting you Gold. Now... if... um..." She twirls her fingers together nervously, he cheeks turning slightly red as she looks at him with upturned eyes. "That is... the manor..." she stammers as you stare at her confused.

"What she is trying to say, boy," Tewi steps in front of Reisen. "...is that, if you want, you can accompany us to Eientei mansion. I am sure Eirin and the princess won't disapprove of you staying a night or two." She explains, giving Gold a grin that worried him slightly.

So, we are at the final part of the first chapter. No idea whether this story has any sort of following here so far, though those that have read to this point I do sincerely hope ye have enjoyed the story. ^_^

Well, I mostly meant continue it one way or another, since it's been a long time since the quest updated on QQ.
Fair enough. Then there is no worry as the next update for the quest itself will be posted short while after Chapter 2. Part 2 is posted here. ^^

Chapter 2: The Moon, The Princess and the Immortal
Chapter 2
The Moon, the Princess and the Immortal

*****************************************************************
As Gold follows the rabbit girls through the ominous bamboo forest he glances nervously around. The sun had already set, leaving the pale moon as their only source of light, making it near impossible for him to see anything. Reisen and Tewi appeared unbothered though. Their eyes shining slightly as the moon shone on them in-between the leaves.

"I think we lost Rumia. Should we turn around and look for her?" Gold suggests as they headed ever deeper into the the aptly named, 'Forest of the Lost'. Already he had lost every sense of direction and if it wasn't for Tewi and Reisen he would no doubt be wandering aimlessly through the forest right now (or burning it to escape it).

"Don't worry~" Tewi replies, putting hands behind her head in a carefree manner, a mischievous smile on her face "She props' just went to look for someone to eat. She will be fine~"

Scratching his chin Gold gives Tewi a troubled smile. "If you say so. I just hope she doesn't get herself into trouble again. She seemed quite hurt last time. Ahhahaha....ah...hah...." Gold tries to laugh it off but his voice dies down as he glances worryingly up in the air.

Tewi stops for a moment before turning and looking up at him with a patient smile.

"She's gonna be fine. Stop bein' a worrywart, boya. She knows how to take care of herself."

Gold feels Reisen's soft hand on his shoulder. "Tewi is right. That girl has been around for a very long time. I am sure she will be fine." she reassures him.

Taking a deep breath he relaxes his body. "You are right." chuckling lightly over his overprotective attitude he tries to look ahead but is unable to discern more than few meters in front of himself. They really were deep in the forest. It was kind of amazing how much confidence they had in their sense of direction. "By the way, how long 'till we reach Ei- Eie- your home?" He asks them out of curiosity. He had been walking for the better part of an hour, half of which had been spent inside this confusing place and honestly he was kind of exhausted.

Reisen smiles warmly "Not far. We have already passed the sentries so it is only around 10 more minutes."

Gold pauses. "Wait, sen-"

"-Who goes there?!" A voice shouts from the darkness. Causing all three of them to jump, with Reisen lifting up her arm, aiming a finger towards the direction of the shout.

"Reisen Udonge Inaba! Now give me yours or I will fire!" She shouts back threateningly, standing in front of Gold and Tewi as if trying to protect them both.

A sudden lights flares up, blinding Gold as something headed towards them...

*****************************************************************

"Hey, heard the rumors that annoying crow was spreading around today?"

"Hmmm~?"

"Apparently a human fell into Gensokyo today and didn't get eaten right away."

"luckyyy him~" The horned girl replies and hiccups a bit before taking another gulp from the bowl. Her eyes slightly hazy as she relaxes in the small tub.

"Then he proceeded to defeat Marisa in a danmaku fight."

"Hohhh~?" The horned girl's face sobers up a bit as she looks at her friend with renewed interest.

"He has some sort of creatures under his control and used them to fight for him."

The horned girl's face soured. "A youkai slaver."

"Perhaps." The other girl shrugs as she brushes herself, foam spreading over her body as she did so. "If he causes more ruckus I will take care of him. But I can't be bothered with another incident right now." She sighs and applies soap to her hair. "The crow mentioned that he was heading for Eirin. Hopefully she will take care of the problem."

"Mnyuuu~" The horned girl closes her eyes as she continues to relax in the tub. If the person wasn't strong he was of no interest to her. And even if he was, she had no interest in trying to enjoy a fight with someone like him.

*splash*

Letting the warm water rush down her head the girl scrubs the soap off. Such bother. First Yukari and her ilk had disappeared, then the entrance to the underground had also disappeared, followed shortly with the youkai uprising. Gathering more water in the bucket she sighs. If she wasn't so busy with keeping up the barrier due to Yukari's absence she would go and have a "talk" with those in the Palace. This smelled like something they might know about. It wouldn't the first time that something they did went horribly wrong.

And that human... usually they appeared in the woods where they could be easily preyed on by the youkai, not falling from the sky. Something wasn't adding up. She sighs again, scrubbing her fingers through her hair tiredly. Haahhhh~ She really couldn't be bothered with all of this.

She looks towards her companion who was lavishly pouring more saké into her bowl from an odd looking gourd.

"Hey"

"Hmmm~?"

"Give me some as well"

"Sure~"

*****************************************************************

"Shouldn't we follow them?" The white haired wolf girl comments, her eyes focusing on something in the far distance. "I am about to lose sight of them."

The raven haired girl shakes her head "Nah, this is enough for today. I got plenty of material~" She states as she closes her worn but precious notebook with a soft thump "The sun is setting and I want to get this ready for tomorrow's paper." She lifts up her camera and grins. "Got plenty of nice shots of Marisa and the mysterious human as well. That is sure to draw the interest of people."

The wolf girl shakes her head. "Don't you think this is a bit odd? The human appears in the sky, nearly plunges to his death, only to be saved by Marisa. Shortly thereafter defeats her in a huge danmaku fight using one of those creatures." She growls at something extremely far away as she moves a hand to the blade on her side . "He may be a danger us."

In a flash the raven haired girl disappears and reappears in front of the wolf one. An expression of bemusement on her face as she flicks the girl on the forehead. "We are here as reporters for Bunbunmaru, don't get your tail all tied up in a knot." Her grin widens. "Don't forget who you are talking to. I will get to the bottom of this mystery. But first we need to start printing!"

Light in her step she turns around and disappears again, reappearing almost hundred meters away, standing on the top of a tree's crown. She waves back at her compatriot. "Lets go! The story won't write itself!"

Sighing the wolf girl glances towards the bamboo forest worryingly one more time before following her eccentric boss.

*****************************************************************

"He didn't come." The woman states, the wind flowing through her hair as she watched the sun set. The pillars surrounding her giving the place an ominous feel to it.

"'tis has only been a day." The girl responds with an innocent-like smile. "He will come here eventually. Worry not, I made sure he would."

"...so you did. Do thou not think that this may cause undue ruckus?"

The girl puts her back up to a pillar. It was still comfortably warm from the evening sun. "They have a rule to ask questions first, shoot later. Don't worry so much, I will interfere once they reach the root of the mountain." She replies, sticking out her tongue. "Additionally even if they shoot first he seems capable. I am sure he is going to be fine." She crouches a bit before jumping nonchalantly up to the top of the pillar, a pillar six times her size, sitting down on it she smiles reassuringly at the woman. "Either way he will find his way over here. It is only a question about having patience."

"Patience..." The woman repeats the word with a slight distaste. "The attitude that nearly left our child without family." Her expression turns grim and there is a touch of fear in her voice. "Thou surely do not plan on leaving her to herself do you? I won't forgive such actions."

The girl turns to face the woman, her expression serious. "Ye know I won't. I am never going to let her experience that again. I am merely curious about this human... or whatever he is. He may be someone of use or interest."

"...Perhaps." The woman replies, doubt clear from her tone. "Thou have changed a lot over the passing of time. I merely do not wish to see thee gone." She adds bitterly.

The girl stands up angrily. "Hey! I am not gonna di-"

"....ako! The food is ready!" Someone shouts in the distance, yet they could hear it as clearly as if the person was next to them.

A faint smile appears on the woman's face "...Seems that our child hath something prepared. Let us leave such talk for a later date."

The girl cools down immediately. "Indeed. We can't have my granddaughter see us fighting can we?" She replies with a grin as she jumps back down.

The woman chuckles softly. "A valid point. Let us now head inside and dine." She says as she rises, her tall frame easily dwarfing that of the girl's.

Still deep in thought they head back to the temple where they are greeted with a big smile and a warm meal.

*****************************************************************

"Oh, it is just you guys." Someone mutters disappointed. From the tone of the voice Gold deduces that it was a girl, albeit the voice had a certain rasp to it, making it possible for those uninitiated to mistake it for a boy's. Thankfully Gold was anything but inexperienced, too bad he couldn't see anything right now. He would've love to see who was greeting him, no, them.

Blinking rapidly Gold tries to regain his sight as fast as possible. It was better said than done. After having been in this dim lighting for so long it had been a bit of a shock to his senses to have such a strong light pop in front of them all of a sudden.

"Hmmm?" The voice sounds surprised. "Who's this? I haven't seen a real human this deep in the forest for decades. What gives?" She was clearly pointing her questions at the girls but not him.

"We offered him to stay the night over at our place. He just recently arrived to Gensokyo and after all that happened we thought it was for the best for him to stay somewhere safe."

The girl sniffles rudely at that. She didn't sound convinced. Gold feels someone poke his nose. "You look familiar kid. Do I know you?" She asks.

Still blinking rapidly he (thinks he) gives her a sheepish grin. "I would answer yer question if I could. But right now I am somewhat blinded. Give me a moment to regain my sight and I will answer that question happily." His vision was slowly returning. There were still huge purple spots covering almost everything but least it was dissipating somewhat.

She sounded perplexed "Oh? why- Ah." She seemed to have realized the situation. "Sorry, I thought you were someone else so I kind of wanted to catch them by a surprise attack."

Does everyone here follow the same rules as back home? He shakes his head. No, at least back there they would let you know beforehand of their intentions by challenging you. This here was just plain mean. Suddenly he feels a hand on his shoulders.

"There, sit down." Gold hears the voice say as they push him down on something. A rock by the feel of it. Not a comfortable one either. "You should be able to see the face of the one that did you wrong. I will wait until you have recovered." The bunny girls were strangely silent. Hopefully it was because they trusted this person rather than they were dead afraid to say anything against her.

After a minute he had regained most of your sight. "I think I am good now." Gold assures her as he looks up towards his mysterious assailant.

She gives him a confident, yet still a bit embarrassed grin as she smokes a pipe that looked way too elegant in comparison to her rough work clothes. "Sorry about that pal. Thought you were someone else."

Gold grins tiredly "No harm done. This wouldn't be the first time someone flashed me..." He wasn't going to mention how those flashing occurred though. "Either way I don't blame you. Seeing how the situation is here right now I can't blame a girl for wanting to avoid being killed now can I?"

For some reason she just stares at him dumbfounded before letting out a loud laugh. "HAHAHAHA! That is rich!" She puts an arm around his shoulder. "It has been a long time since I have heard genuine worry about me. I didn't quite expect you to say that. You are alright kid, you know that? Much better than that princess with that gold stick up her arse." She lets him go and tocks the end of her pipe, pushing out its content. "Either way, I have to go. I need to gather up the bamboo for tomorrow's order so I can't stay. See you later." She gives Gold and the girls a lighthearted a wink as she leaves.

.......

Gold glances at Reisen and Tewi.

"...Who was that?"

Their shoulder slump and an odd, resigned expression crosses their face with Tewi scratching her nose and looking away, obviously pretending that she hadn't heard the question.

"You will learn it soon enough." Reisen hesitantly answers Gold with a weak smile. "The answer may arrive quicker than you may expect... or want"

Gold helps himself up. Since they didn't want to talk about it there was no reason to push it. "Very well!" He says, trying to ease up the mood a bit. "Let us get going then! A warm cozy bed sounds like a dream right about now. I can hardly wait to say hello to it." He states in a cheerful manner as he walks ahead with a confident gait.

"Wait there is a-" Reisen shouts in alarm but is too late as when Gold finally looks down. His final thoughts before the weak branches underneath him give way from his weight is about how the ground looked oddly discolored . Then he is falling down, only to land bottom first at the bottom of the hole.

*Thoomp!*

"Ouch!" Looking up he is surprised by just how deep the hole was. Sure, it wasn't going to be too difficult getting up, but it must have taken quite lot of work to dig this thing.

"Hmm... not sure if I should be glad or annoyed that it worked as intended." Someone mutters above. Looking up Gold spots Tewi wearing a :3 like grin.

"How about both?" Gold suggests, feeling a tiny bit sorry for his bottom as he stands up. "It is kind of deep so would you mind lending me a hand?"

Tewi nods while quietly snickering and reaches out with her hand. Gold is about to jump towards her when a sudden shrill scream makes them both freeze up in surprise and alarm.

Welcome! Welcome to Chapter 2 of this story! Soon the update frequency is going to slow down quite a bit, but the story should hopefully still update at regular intervals, albeit not as fast (unless I invent a way to slow down time)

Any feedback would be lovely of course. :D

Chapter 2. Part 1: Pitfalls and Stumps
That sounded like Reisen! Adrenaline pumping through his body Gold leaps towards Tewi, somehow grabbing her by her collar rather then her hand, much to her surprise. She had been distracted as well by that scream and had accidentally moved her hand away at the final moment.

"...leth... goh..." She mumbles as she is dragged towards the edge, her face partially squished to the ground as Gold's weight pulls her down. "Theve is noah dhanger... Rheiben juthd whaldek inoh a drahp."

Unable to understand her Gold swings his body around, his legs floating a meter above the bottom of the hole as he attempts to get a solid hold on the walls of the hole, in a mere moment he is successful in gaining a foothold, thus he releases his grip on Tewi, with the result of her flying back as all that weight pushing her down vanishes. With a solid foothold Gold climbs up in a few heartbeats. "Hep! There we go!" Standing up he is surprised to spot Tewi lying face first on the ground, her eyes empty. "Uhm, you okay?"

"Everythin' ith phine~" She answers expressionless as she stares into the distance. "Juht enjhoyin dhe schenery~"

"Oh, okay then." Gold replies as he scans the surroundings. That had been Reisen crying out right? But from wh- his thoughts are cut off as he spots her, hanging upside down like a bad imitation of a bat.

"Heeelp meee!" She cries out as she holds her skirt up in a desperate, yet futile attempt to hide her underwear from sight.

Gold approaches here perplexed. "Uh, what are you doing Reisen?" Had she got caught in a trap or was this something rabbit girls or youkais did for fun? Her position looked quite uncomfortable, albeit it gave him a chance to truly appreciate her alluring thighs.

"Mweh." Tewi wipes dirt from her cheek as she stands up. "Dun't worry about it ~usa. She usually gets stuck in one trap or other daily." She moves up besides Gold. "Moreso..." She gives him a knowing grin. "...it opens a new and interesting... perspective don't'ya agree boy?"

Her smile turns... mischievous. "How'bout it? Shall we steal her underwear and run for it?"

Gold's eyes shine. "That sounds gr-" Shaking his head he stops himself "N-no I mean. We need to get her free!" Fighting his natural instinct to stare at Reisen he forces himself to look away.

Tewi lifts up her hands and shakes her head in an exaggerated manner. "Oh well. Your loss" She leans up to Gold, barely reaching up to his ear by standing on her toes. "Remember our agreement from before. If you wake up early tomorrow I will trade with you Reisen's embarrassing secrets... for the right price." She whispers to him before jumping back with an innocent smile. "She can be freed by untying the knot over there."

As Gold walks past Reisen he gives her a thumb up and a wide smile. "Don't worry Reisen, I'm gonna get you free now!"

She stares at him as he grabs around the knot, her eyes widening. "Hey wai-"

"Heave ho!" Gold shouts as he pulls on the knot. In an instant it unravels and flies out his hand, sending the rest of the rope flying up in the air as the bamboo stalk is freed from the extra weight.

*Thunk*

Something heavy strikes the ground behind him. Turning around he sees Reisen in an odd crouching position. Steam rising from a huge bump on her head.

"...hello! Reisen? You okay?" She looked okay, but what was with this guilty feeling?

......

"Reisen...?" Gold is about to crouch next to her when a face suddenly pops up in his face, causing him to lose balance and fall backwards.

"BOOOBS!" This cheerful looking face exclaims happily. She hadn't been there a second ago. Of that Gold was sure... right...? The more he thought about it the more it felt like he had been seeing her for a while... wait no... no he hadn't... but he had...? As steam begins to rises from Gold's head she remains there, staring at him with a wide, empty smile on her face. Her expression never truly changing.

"Erm... hello?" Is the first thing Gold's succeeds to get out. His mind in utter disarray. He was sure that he had seen her before, but his brain was also sure that he had never seen her before now. Which was it!?! This dilemma was seriously causing him problems. He had always.... err... mostly... err... were usually good at remembering faces. He was sure that he would remember a face like that... right?

She just tilts her head and continues smiling, as if amused and interested in observing Gold's actions.

For a while the two of them stare at each other. Neither willing to break eye contact. Something about her was... lacking? Something about her 'being' felt missing?

A sudden tap on Gold's shoulder wakes him up from the staring contest.

"Hey..." Tewi looks at him with a semi-amused, semi-annoyed expression. "Reisen is already leaving us behind, she seemed quite upset. How long are you gonna be staring at the air boya?"

Gold blinks. "Eh? Wait what do you mean a-" He is about to point towards this new(?) girl when the mystery girl suddenly puts a finger on his mouth, cutting him off.

Tewi looks at him with something akin to worry. "Did you spot something?"

The girl moves her finger away. "Ye-ahhhh...... no." Gold scratches his head in apparent embarrassment "I thought I did, but it looks like it was just my imagination. Ehehe...." His smile twitches nervously as Tewi inspects him with a suspicious glare. Then she shrugs.

"If you say so." She turns around and starts to walk away. "Either way..." She pauses and glances back "...we need to get goin', we are almost there. It would be a shame if you got eaten so close to safety wouldn't it?" She warns with a snigger before continuing on the path.

"Ah, yes." Gold replies automatically and begins to stand up, only to stop when the mysterious girl grabs his shirt, causing him look at her in surprise. It almost felt like he had forgotten her for a moment... or had he?

She looks up at him and makes a loud *Ssshhhhhh* sound, making it clear that she didn't want them to know about her presence... somehow. Frankly Gold was at this point, extremely confused about the lack of reaction from the bunnies. Had they really not noticed her, even if she was right in front of them?

"I will" Gold whispers as he finally stands up. A bit to his surprise she lets go, remaining crouched as she stares up towards him with a... he didn't know how to describe it. Empty? Blank? Nonexistent? Those and plenty more crossed his mind but none felt like it would quite do her expression service.

"You comin'!?" Tewi shouts at him, barely visible in the distance, the bamboo trees obscuring most of her.

Gold looks up. "Yes, I am coming! I just need to-" He stares. In a heartbeat and without a trace, the green haired girl was gone. Turning around on the spot he scans the area but are unable to see where she had gone... or perhaps she was still crouched in the same spot...? Realizing that he wasn't going to 'see' her he gives up (for now), turns around and chases Tewi, who had just disappeared behind the bamboo trees.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"....."

"I am sorry!" Gold repeats the third time in a row. "Can you forgive me?!" Tears were starting to swell up in his eyes. So far Reisen had not even reacted to his attempts to apologize other than to increase her pace, constantly preventing him from being able to face her. Her expression stern.

"Ahhhhh~" Tewi exclaims in an overdramatic manner besides him as she picks her nose. "She is mad~. Great job boy." She mockingly congratulates him and claps him on the back.

Gold stares at her. Something was telling him that he had been had. He sighs and falls back besides her, his shoulders slumped. "I don't even know what I did wrong..."

Tewi looks at him sympathetically. "It is nothing serious, Reisen is just being a bit of a child ~usa" Putting emphasis on that word causes Reisen to freeze in her track. After a moment she sighs and looks back at them.

"Gold..." She sighs again and takes a deep breath. "I am the one that should be sorry. I know you didn't mean anything ill with your actions. I was projecting my irritation on you, and for that I apologize" Her smile returns as Gold feels a wave of relief washing over him.

*sniffle*

Tewi eyes widen. "Are you really getting sentimental over this?"

Gold wipes his face. "I can't help it. I just didn't want her to hate me."

....

They glance at each other before they start giggling.

"Heh, you are a weird human~. At times you are utterly ignorant and others it is like you are aware of everything ~usa" She pokes him in the site teasingly. "Ye sure you ain't a sort of youkai?"

Gold scratches the back of his head, his nose still feeling a bit runny. "Nah, I doubt it. Just normal boring human."

"Hmm~?" Tewi stares up at him with a knowing smile. "Tryin' to act all humble now? Where did all that energy from before go?"

*Rumble~* A loud growling noise escapes his stomach.

"Ahaha ha..." Gold laughs, blushing slightly. "I kind of lose focus and energy when I get hungry. I am fine when I am fighting or-" He stops, no need to mention the birds and the bees while Reisen was within hearing range. If he did she might very well actually die from embarrassment.

"Or...?" Tewi looks at Gold smirking, a nasty gleam in here eyes.

"Ah, nothing! It is just that I-" Gold begins in desperate attempt to come up with a believable excuse.

"We are here!" Reisen unintentionally interrupts them, clasping her hands together happily. She glances back at Gold. "Oh I am sorry, you were were saying something?"

"Nothing important." Gold replies, relieved that she had cut in.

"Tch." Tewi spits out annoyed.

Looking in the direction that Reisen was pointing towards Gold spots the top of a house sticking out behind a bamboo fence... barely. If not for the moonlight shining between the trees he would have been completely unable to spot the structure from this distance. As it was he could just about see the outlines of it.

"I am sure that Eirin and the princess will be more than willing to accommodate you for a short while." Reisen adds happily.

Gold nods. With him there it shouldn't be any problem convincing their masters to allow him to stay. He didn't want to brag but he was quite adept at convincing the fairer gender of sharing- errr... allowing him to stay over for the night. He grins. This was no doubt going to go splendidly.

The next part of this update will be posted tomorrow. I simply was of such length that it was more comfortable to split it up here (plus more natural) than to keep working on it into the night. As always, I hope the update was to ye all liking and I will be posting the later half of this update sometime tomorrow. :D

Chapter 2. Part 2: Neck Snapping Welcome
*****************************************************************
Same time, inside Eientei Mansion

"Princess? I am coming in." The faint voice of Eirin carries through the shōji.

"Haaayyyy~" The princess shouts back listlessly as she stares fish eyed at the screen. Her fingers moving swiftly over the keyboard as she swirls the mouse around in a rapid manner, the constant clicking echoing faintly in the 'charismatic' room.

Whhrrrrrrrr......

The constant noise of the computer running is momentarily drowned by the sound of Eirin entering the room.

"Princess, I have a report to make. Can I have a moment of your time?" She asks in a polite manner as she bows, the image of the perfect servant.

"Oh...." The princess replies listlessly again, barely acknowledging her presence, too busy taking over those bases.

"Tewi and Reisen have been spotted entering the parameters."

"Ok"

"They are arriving at least 4 hours later than they should have. That is enough of a reason for punishment, don't you agree?"

"K"

Eirin pauses for a moment, as if she were about to say something important. "...Interestingly enough there is someone accompanying them."

The princess rises up, all interest on the bases in-game gone. "Mokou?! Again!?!" She shouts, her eyes burning with rage.

"No, it isn't her. It is a human."

"Oh." Immediately losing interest she sits down again and continues playing the game.

"A human male." Eiren adds in, carefully observing the Princess reaction.

The princess twitches, and turns her head shakily towards Eirin. "Human... male...?"

Eirin nods politely. "Indeed, a young human male wearing oddly designed clothes. According to the patrol he looked quite nice, a bit young but not bad looking."

*SLAM!*

The room falls silent as the princes slams both of her hands on the table. "...How long until they arrive...?" Her voice is shaking a bit.

A small evil smile appears on Eirin's lips but she hides it with another curt bow. "They are entering the mansion as we speak."

*CLACKR*

Rising up with such force that she flips the table, sending the screen, the keyboard and the mouse flying she stares at Eirin with a panicked expression. "Right... now?!" She repeats, sweat running down her face like a river.

"Yes Princess." Eirin confirms. "Do you want me to prepare tea for our guest as you prepare yourself?"

The princess barely registers Eirin's question. "Ha? Yeah..." She suddenly recovers and looks at Eirin with a fiery expression. "You do that! Meanwhile I, Houraisan Kaguya! will become the greatest host this human has ever met!" She turns her head swiftly towards Eirin. "Eirin, a tablet if you could?"

Understanding the Princess request Eirin takes outa purple tablet from one of the multitude of pouches around her waist. "This medicine will take effect immediately. Just remember that it is likely that it won't be capable of killing you after this.

Not even giving the courtesy of responding the princess seizes the tablet out of her hand and gulps it down immediately. "Tell some of the servants to bring me spare clothes immediately. A host of my caliber can't be seen in those rags-aaagghhhh!" At those final words she grabs her neck before falling to the ground dead, her eyes rolled back, foam coming out of her mouth, her entire face a deep hue of green.

Eirin nods as if nothing out of the ordinary had happened. "As you wish Princess. I will order them to bring a fitting dress immediately" And on those words she leaves the room, leaving a small opening in the shoji so the servants could enter with more ease.

She rummages through one of her pouches before taking up an unassuming white pill. She inspects it with a troubled expression. Should I use it now, or wait and see what kind of character he is? After a moment she sighs and puts it back in one of her pouches. She was turning soft. Before she would have made sure that the human wouldn't even be able to come within a mile of the Princess without being tested by her first. She glances out towards the moon. I guess things have changed after all. Gensokyo had changed her in ways she hadn't expected. First that annoying shrine maiden, then that friend of hers, followed by number of incidents and today she was letting a human male get this close to the princess.

"We are baaack! ~usa" Someone shouts from the entrance. Tewi no doubt. Only she had the audacity to behave like that this late in the day. Sighing again Eirin enters the kitchen and prepares some refreshments for the guest.

Gold shifts uncomfortably as he tries to get some blood in his legs. Sitting in the formal seiza position made him feel like he was about to ask for the hand of some rich parent's daughter. At the other end of the table was a grey haired, elegant and beautiful looking woman wearing some sort of medical uniform, drinking tea calmly while observing him with a jabbing glare.

"So you are Gold, right?"

He stares at the table, feeling like a child being chastised. "Yes, ma'm"

"And you 'assisted' Reisen getting free from a tree she was stuck in?"

"Yes."

"Something that was allegedly your fault?"

Reisen begins to raise her voice "Wait a mom-" but is cut off when Eirin raises a hand.

"Do not push it Reisen. Not only did you fail return in timely fashion but you also lost the rest of the medicine and the groceries in the process." She gives her a stern look. Reisen ears droop down in shame. She turns her focus back to Gold. "Do you care to explain why I should let someone like you st-" She falls silent as some sort of commotion is occurring just outside the room. A shadow appears at the other side of the thin door.

With a click someone slides the doors apart. All of a sudden a stunning girl enters the room, each movement full of grace. Everything about her screamed royalty, even her dress was surely made out of pure silk.

"My my my~" The elegant gi- no, elegant princess begins. "So thou are the human that hath found his way to our home?" She puts a hand in front of her mouth and grins. "I must admit, that thou is but one of many suitors that hath sought me out. The competition is tough but I am sure that thou art more than prepared." She continues

Gold's entire face had become a giant questionmark. What was she talking about? Suitor? Competition? Was she talking about marrying her? Hmm... Well, he didn't exactly mind competing for someone's hand, but he wasn't the type to settle down... well, at least not yet.

She appears to take his utter confusion as a confirmation. "Ahhh, how lovely, a new hu-ack!"

Stepping on her own dress she loses her footing and falls down face first, hitting the ground with the resounding *Crack* of her neck breaking.

Gold stares pale faced at the twisted body of the girl who had been speaking just a second before, her head turned near 180 degrees from its original position, her eyes staring into the nothingness.

"Princess?" Reisen yells, panicking."Princess!? PRINCEEEEESSSS!!!"
------------

"Ahem!" The princess clears her throat, blushing a fair amount. "Sorry you had to experience that unsightly scene."

"I-it is nothing..." Gold mutters, the cup shaking visibly in his hand. Sure, he had seen people die, but not this close and in such a gruesome way, and he had never seen someone die and then return from dying like it was a daily occurrence and nothing remarkable about it.

Eirin sighs. "As I was saying before arrival, I would like to know the whole story behind your encounter with Tewi and Reisen."

"Ah ha.... right." Gold replies weakly. "It went like this...." And over the period of handful of minutes he explains how he encountered the rabbit girls, how you helped Reisen to get free and how he semi-kidnapped them for a short while. When Gold eventually stops Eirin is rubbing her temple tiredly.

"I think I got the gist of it." She states as she scans Gold up and down for the umpteenth time. She glances at the Princess "What are your thoughts Princess?"

The princess holds a hand in front of her mouth thoughtfully. "I am truly not sure. Thou hath cometh to suitor me, hath thee not?" She puts one of her feet on top of the table, nearly spilling the teacups laid on it. She swings her hand around dramatically "Thou hath many tasks before thee can dance the ballet of life with the beauty that I am born as..."

"Hey, Tewi?" Gold whispers towards the bunny girl who was nonchalantly lazing around besides him, utterly ignoring the goings on at the table.

"...Is what thee may dream of to..."

"Hmmm?" Her right ear twitches in acknowledgement.

"...I mean, it is hard to resist a beauty like..."

"What is she going on about?" He asks her slightly worried. "I am kind of lost..."

"...true, Buddha's bowl may be hard to retrieve but I am..."

"Just let her be, she will run out of steam eventually. ~usa" She whispers back and grins.

"...then there be the infamous robe of the..."

Gold nods and mentally prepare himself for the tough battle to come...

20 minutes later

"....Thus thou will have to go on a perilous trip to retrieve these artifacts before thou can hath even the mildest of hopes of considering yourself as my suitor." She looks at Gold triumphantly. "Now what say you!?"

Blinking rapidly, Gold wakes up from falling asleep with his eyes open. "Huh? Ah. Sure, no doubt it will be a great or something like that..." He utters out, hoping that he was making some sort of sense. Honestly he had lost track while before he ever fell asleep. "Nevertheless, I am-"

"He is curious to know whether you approve of him staying her for few days." Reisen cuts in, saving him from possibly revealing that he hadn't been listening at all.

"Hmmmm...." She closes her eyes thoughtfully "You and Tewi appear to trust him well enough. I think it should be fine to let him stay for a short while." She looks at Gold with a beautiful smile, taking his breath away.

"I am sure that he will behave like a true gentleman while he is under our roof. Will you not?"

"Y-yeah." Gold replies weakly. Though if she was going to keep smiling at him like that he feared that he might become unable to comply to her request. Her smile was more lethal than Eruption at full health.

"Then the next matter at hand is where he will sleep." Eirin continues. "I suggest that he stays either in the grand hall or in the outhouse. Both are comfortable enough for him to stay in without issue... and both are far away from the Princess's sleeping quarters."

The princess claps her hands together happily. "Sounds good. Eirin, please tell some of the servants to prepare whichever place he chooses."

Eirin stands up and bows. "As you wish Princess. I will let them know immediately.... but before that, I recommend that master Gold cleans himself. His clothes and he look quite worn by today's events. No doubt he would appreciate a warm bath before bed." She adds with a polite smile. It was clear that she distrusted him but the hostile aura from before had subsided quite a lot nevertheless.

Next update wil be posted in half a week to a week's time. As I want to post the next update for the Quest at the same time I do so. ; )

Important: Outhouse here is not meant as a toilet, but rather something akin to a workshop/guesthouse/shed.

Attention! Regarding future updates of Chapter 2 and Onward!
Heya all! I just uploaded the first update for the quest this story is converted from! It is the first one in a whole half year! Yaai! Finally back in business baby!

Ahemm... now to the serious part.

Due to the somewhat mature content in the next 2-3(/4) updates I am unsure whether I will be able to post future chapters over to here on SV.

I will try, but I won't do it if the story loses too much of its core and gets toned too much down. I will, once these more mature parts are finished, try to convert them over to story format here for your consumption, but I can not make any promises this time around. :/

So, sadly enough, there won't be any future updates for the quest here for good 2 weeks at least.

I find it likely that I will succeed in converting it, but I just wanted to make it clear that it is not guaranteed. Of course, those that want to continue reading the latest updates as they come can always check the quest itself. I am more than happy see more participants there! Though keep in mind that there be lewd stuff there. Just making that perfectly clear so it doesn't come to ye as a surprise. ;3
