The fate of Humanity was being decided with one epic battle after another, humanity's greatest champions fought against the very gods themselves.
unfortunately for you, this isn't that story, no instead you're reading this one.
"I'm sorry what!?" Mark screamed alongside Alice a low-level angel.
"Yes, I'm here to tell the two of you that considering the number of victories the two of you have earned" the messenger god stops and takes out a notebook.
"Sorry, the hell with it well have our own competition and have fun is over and all remaining participants are to enter the main arena," He said to them.
Mark looked at the messenger god's expression and he noticed that the man looked at him with eyes filled with pity.
"For what it's worth I'm sorry, the two of you gathered ordinary people and, let's be honest here the gods and deities that no one truly cares about and tried to pass the time however you could"
"Unfortunately someone told the higher-ups about your games and fights," he said as he turned to look at the blue sky.
"I asked them why they would force your group into the main arena when they knew that neither humans nor deities or gods could stand a chance against those that remained in the main arena" The messenger gods eyes began to glow as it lowered its head and looked at the two of them.
"Their answer, because if the humans in the main arena lose, but this little game of yours is still ongoing, but somehow the humans win. Then that would mean that the humans defeated the gods and it would mean a tie"
"Meaning that the winners on your side would have to face against the winners on our side and let's be honest here, that wouldn't be fair to anyone," he said to the two of them, before leaving the two of them and the entire room filled with minor gods- angels- minor goddesses and a couple of demons, as well as angels in complete silence.
Mark let out a breath of frustration before he turned and looked at everyone.
'okay who told?" he asked everyone in the room and immediately every god- goddess human and demon turned and looked at each other before they immediately began to point the finger ane another and accusing someone.
"Quiet!" Mark screamed
"Let's be honest here, if no one in this room told the higher-ups about our little game, then some jerk from the main building must have hard us having fun and told the higher-ups.
"So I'll ask again did anyone here say anything when they were in the main building?" Mark asked everyone and this time however no one answered or did anything
"Okay we need to buy some time, are there any gods that play games in the room?" Mark asked the crowds of gods and he wasn't surprised to see a large group of them step forward.
Alice the angel that was his partner in crime immediately took out a folder filled with pieces of paper that somehow became entire pages when she took them out of the folder.
"Okay, we will just say that the trickster gods and the gods that like to play games were going to have their competition after ours. Is that okay with you?" Alise asked the trickster gods who immediately agreed.
None of the gods was anything particular, so if one had to compare them to a regular human, they would be just that, the regular people that wake up go to school - work- eat and go home.
So despite the gods and deities being higher being none of them had the mightier than thou attitude that the Gods and Goddesses in the main building have.
"Okay so since we all agree, someone has to take this to the main building," Mark said to the group in front of him, and unsurprisingly to him, no one stepped forward.
"I'll do it," Alise said to him
"No we both will," Mark said o Alise before the two f they stepped out of the building and walked into the world outside.
The dimension wasn't heaven, nor was it the earth, it was one of the seven worlds created by God before the current version of humanity, seven failed worlds that had been stitched together to make this new one where Humanity was now being tested.
Three different buildings existed here, in one the humans and gods that would be fighting lived in, t was a massive building that was conveniently shaped like a giant coliseum.
regular people could enter it, but only to watch the fights, regular humans just weren't allowed in, there were other people in the building but they were those that had made themselves known and their names were carved into history in one way or another.
Hell, the guy that fired the single shot that was heard around the world lived in there and it was only now that people found out who it had been.
The two of them stood in front of the main entrance and to their surprise, one of the guards stepped aside.
Mark wasn't willing to die again, so he handed the letter to the guard.
"Can you give this to Zeus?" he said to the guard who turned to look at Alise
"The two of you have give this to him, we were told that one or two of you would come, so go do it yourselves," the guards said to them, as he shoved the letter back into Mark's hand.
Mark and Alise felt their heart beat faster and faster as they neared Zeus's room, the two of them were sweating with barely contained terror, but somehow Alise managed to knock on the door
No one answered and the two of them let out a breath of relief when the door opened by itself and they found it empty.
"What are you doing here," Hera said to them and both Alise and Mark screamed when they heard her voice behind them
Mark immediately gave the letter to her who just raised an eyebrow.
"Fine do what you want, it won't make any difference anyway," she said before walking away.
As the Greek Goddes walked away both Mark and Alise fell onto the ground and looked at each other.
"Alise, we're dead aren't we?" Mak asked the angel who just mad and "mmmhmmm" sound Mark had no idea what that meant but he assumed she agreed with him, so he just kept on talking.

[Before]
The gods had announced that Humanity had failed and as a result, it would be destroyed and by that, they meant everything that had to do with humans would be gone, the ouls in heaven- hell- everyone living on earth, even the buildings Humans had created everything would be completely erased.
However, Humanity had a chance, if the human's greatest champions managed to beat the gods then humanity would be given another million years, and if they failed they would be tested again but in a different way.
One great battle led to another, that one led to an even greater one until the fifth match arrived, unfortunately, Humans had already lost three fights.
Mark walked outside of the coliseum and looked at the blue sky, he wasn't anyone important in life so he didn't live in the coliseum, in all honesty, he couldn't remember where he had been before waking up in this place.
Luckily for him, he had found a couple of people that he knew and so it wasn't all bad, at least he wouldn't have to pass eternity alone or with complete strangers.
The gods n the coliseum were the kinds that looked down on people, but the ones that stepped out were the kinds that didn't mind being around people so unlike the stuck up jerks in the main building, they had a stick shove so high up their asses, the ones outside were more human.
They were still gods, but at least people could get close to them without worrying about accidentally insulting them.
So he kept on walking until he found himself staring at an angel with short white hair, she looked at Mark and Mark looked at her, neither of them said anything.
Perhaps it was his frustration at the fact that he was watching humans lose or perhaps something greater had taken ahold of him for a moment but the moment Mark spoke he immediately put his foot in his mouth.
"I challenge you to a thumbs war match"
Alise looked at Mark and she just kept on looking at him, her first thought was this guy is an idiot, her second thought was he just challenged me, so he thinks he's better than me.
"Fine" Alise said to Mark before the two of them began to play one thumb fought against another, Alisses superior strength nearly broke Mark's hand but Mark managed to power through and beat Alise.
the two of them began to laugh and even though Mark was still holding onto his hand, he proudly declared.
'Ha, humans one Angels zero!" he probably should have kept his voice down because he attracted the attention of everyone around them.
'No way, who lost" someone asked.
'Ha, that means we humans have three victories so we're tied" a woman said
Soon a huge crowd had gathered, everyone knew that their little game didn't mean anything, it was just something to get their minds away from the fact that by the end of the day either the gods would have a group of them die or Humans as a whole would be whipped out.
They soon heard that someone had found a stadium and everyone instinctively headed there to make sure that no one caused any trouble.
So they just kept their little games there, somehow it had become Humans and angels versus the gods, as both sides imitated the gods and in the main coliseum.
[ "It was fun," Mark said to Alise who turned to look at him
"Yeah it was," she said to him ]
"Okay let's make some rules!" Mark said to everyone in the stadium.
"Rule number one, for gods and Humans, let's be honest here these games and the main building don't have anything to do with each other so don't pretend they do, because they don't"
Rule number two we are here to have fun so no cheating.
"Rule number three, were here to have fun so no killing"
"Rule number four, please look at rules one-two, and three"
"Everyone agrees?" Mark said to everyone in the stadium who immediately pied up their cups filled with wine, beer, or moonshine
'Now who's fighting who?" Mark asked everyone who just turned to look at each other.
"Okay well figure that out in a minute," Alise said to everyone before she lifted her right hand.
'Everyone that wants to compete move to the left, everyone that just wants to watch move to the right!" she said to everyone in the stadium.
To their surprise, there weren't a lot of gods willing to play anymore and the number of humans was small too so they didn't have an issue making up teams.
Soon the smell of grilled- fried -baked and bid food began to fille the stadium.
Mark had no idea where the food was coming from, but somewhere along the line when he and Alise along with a couple of the gods and goddesses were trying to figure out who would be fighting who, people started walking around with food.

[Present]
As the two of them began to get off the floor they both began to laugh, as they remembered the sowing contest - the cooking contest and the wine - beer, and moonshine brewing contests.
Thanks to the various deities' abilities to manipulate time these contests were able to happen.
Everyone ended up drunk with a full stomach and a new set of clothes.
"Yeah, it was fun," Mark said as he walked out of the collusion and looked into the main arena, he knew he was going to de.
Alise remembered the soccer match where some of the humans best soccer players powered by angels, played a game against several gods"
The whole stadium cheered whenever one team or the other scored, each time a human or a god kicked the ball and was stopped by the goalie filled the stadium with equal amounts of cheers of joy and excitement as well as boos of disappointment and frustration.
Alise couldn't help but grin as she remembered the baseball game and the football game, there were so many games that were played just for fun.
Yet every one had given it their all because everyone knew that it could be the last time they would ever see each other.
Mark and Alise turned to look at each other as they remembered how the two of them had played checkers against a goddess who didn't have any talents, she was just a goddess of a good morning, meaning that the person responsible for giving you a good morning when you woke up was her.
They played tick-tack-toe and s.o.s, they had played a lot of games but they weren't the only ones, they had started as strangers but had become friends.
Now as they looked at the coliseum they felt their chest become cold with fear as their eyes were drawn to the scoreboard.
"We are so dead," Mark said to Alise who immediately answered him
"Yep"
