Isn't it your plan to get the Queensguard? Like as far as I can tell the Kingsguard is used to bodyguard the queen. And a queensguard could be controversial, or perhaps no big deal? I don't know the politics of the situatuion.
I meant it will probably be controversial, but it has clear benefits, among them giving a release for those ladies in Westeros who doesn´t fit in the social norms and which have martian inclinations... But this is mostly because I want to put together such great characters as Asha, Beshka, Brienne, Arya, and so long and so forth...
[X] Plan: Magnificent Nine
-[X] Harras Harlaw is one of those true rarities: an Ironborn knight, albeit one who keeps to the Drowned God. His appointment would forge closer ties with the Islands while only being somewhat controversial.
-[X] Brynden Tully is an able commander, a sharp wit, and a valourous knight. He is also in his fifties, and his brother the Lord Paramount
still hopes to see him married off. However, Hoster Tully is not like Tywin Lannister and would accept the honor of having a relative on the Kingsguard without much fuss. (Requires a DC of 60)
-[X] Jon Connington was stripped of his lands and titles during the Rebellion, and has spent the last several years helping to raise your nephew. He wouldn't mind being restored to his lands and title (as his cousin Ronnet is, in his words, "a snivelling little shit") but he would also be pleased and proud to remain in King's Landing and serve your family once more.
-[X] Asher Forrester showed promise when he marched south with his father and brother, and you have noticed in the past few days he has struck up an odd rapport with Beshka. House Forrester is not among the greater families of the North, but the gesture would be noticed. When pressed, Lord Forrester mentioned there might be an impolitic lover waiting for him back in the North, and placing Asher here would do him (and Lord Stark) a favour.
-[X] Imry Florent is a young goodbrother of Lord Stannis, a proud knight and respectable warrior, and possessed of the least prominent ears on a Florent you've ever seen. His appointment would be seen as a gesture of goodfaith to the Reacher lords that stood with you, and to Lord Stannis, who does not speak ill of Ser Imry.
-[X] Robar Royce is the second son of Bronze Yohn Royce, a good tourney warrior and a skilled swordsman who did not have a chance to fight in the Restoration. Quiet but kind, his demeanour is a stark difference from his rough-hewn appearance and familial reputation. His appointment would be seen as a conciliatory gesture to the Vale.
Ok, I have changed my mind... We have just melted down the Iron Throne...Compared with that having an expanded Kingsguard seems like an afterthought at worst...
Harras Harlaw, Robar Royce, Asher Forrester, and Imry Florent are all skilled fighters, loyal, and they give us political benefits with the rest of the Realm, so why not pick them all? And with Asher, we have the added benefit of seeing his glorious chemistry with Beshka
Jon Connington and Brynden Tully, are both loyal, experienced, and pretty awesome characters on their own, especially the Blackfish, whom I would love to have around King´s Landing, and to be able to be a more active part of the quest.
And now the ones I rejected it
- I really love both Beshka and Brienne, I really do the only reason why I did not include them on the rooster of the Kingsguard is that I want to include them on the Queenguard which we would unlock next turn
- I consider
Jorah Mormont a fine candidate, but from the North we already have Asher Forrester, which seems way funnier to hand around with.
- Jon Snow, like when he joined the Night Watch, he is too young to make a decision that will affect his life forever, and OOC he is our Nephew and we will soon discover it (Rhaegar Ghost told us to Talk with Ned about what happened in the Tower of Joy in the previous quest)
- And finally, Loras Tyrell... He literally hates us for causing the death of Renly which is a pretty bad thing for a bodyguard, and since the Tyrells are already on the Small Council, I don´t think that they need to be thrown any more bones.
