The Diary [HP]

I would be less inclined to write in a diary if what I wrote disappeared, so I think we should respond with something. Our response should definitely not contain the word 'Ginny', since I don't think she has told us her name.

I think the best response is something that prevents Ginny from guessing we are sentient, but will also keep her interested in writing. The best I could come up with is:

[X] Please be more careful with your ink.

'sup Moldywart.

[X] "Hello? Please be more careful with your ink, Miss..."

9 words, allowing for a one-word panic reaction, if need be.

We might as well start conversation, now, when she noticed that her words disappear. We just lost our value as diary, so if we say nothing she might leave us in burrow and take normal notebook in Hog... Ideal solution would be just show her her own writing, to create impression that we are just magical diary that hide her words from anyone who doesn't have password or something, but that is far too many words for our current strength, right?..

[X] "Hello? Please be more careful with your ink, Miss..."

This is a more refined (and better) version of my initial proposal.

[X] "Hello? Please be more careful with your ink, Miss..."

Idiot child! This had better not be some juvenile experiment now that she's finally noticed the ink marks fade from the page. It took rather longer than I would have expected and there are other ways, neater and less wasteful of ink, to test hypotheses. Regardless, the fact remains that she has noticed something amiss about the diary and I can no longer remain...vacant.

This will require patience and tact.

Also slightly less contempt. As demeaning as it is she is currently the only path to gaining a body. It would not do to underestimate her in any way.

Hey, Moldywart, juvenile experiments kinda go along with being a child. Not everyone can spring fully-formed into being. Didn't you practice your magic in that orphanage?

And yet it still cost him when Dumbledore came calling. The looks of fear the other children directed at him ensured that Dumbledore would forever be wary of his charming demeanor.

It did not help that he outright said "I can make them hurt" or that he had hanged a rabbit from the rafters after having a loud argument with said rabbit's owner.

Cunning is evidently something Ton Marvolo Riddle only perfected at Hogwarts.
