Thereavis is gonna need that optimal retinue to deal with what is coming.
Is the rest of the AAR going to come along btw or should we move on to the next guy? if not a quick summary could be helpful
It'll be coming. Sorry, I had a whole bunch more typed up and then lost it and it was a pretty big blow to my morale. By all means Theravis can get started while I redo what I did, probly a couple hours from now.
I'm fully moved now. Actually I've been doing my Roman/Komnenoi Restoration playthrough in CK2+.I think @Theravis is moving house right now (from what he said in the other CK2 AAR thread), so it's not a huge rush. I am eager to read what happens next though!

I'm totally okay with this. Germanic Brittania GO!Ah, then Stratigo you should probably try to wrap this up within a few days if you can so Theravis can get a bite at this (apparently Germanic) apple.
So, after Theravis does his turn, everyone will have had at least one turn. I'm just going to restart at the top of the queue again unless someone wants out. @Death and Faxes, @Darrenb209, @Ceslas, @EliudFS1, @Walker Of Chaos, @Jorlem, @Zooboss, @stratigo, if you want to be removed from the queue, please let me know. Judging by the average reign length we've had so far (~25 years) there's enough time for everyone to get a second turn before the end of CK2.
What religion are the vassals? Did they mostly convert, or are they still Christian? It's gonna be super rough for theravis, and he's certain to experience a few revolts AND we lost demense to gravelkind. Which is one reason why I wanted an optimum retinue. It would be tough keeping up with our vassals just on demense troops alone. Also our retinue was not just unoptimal, it was set up to fire bad tactics which is bad.

Oh man, "Demand Religious Conversion" is a reformed-faith only thing huh. Also, I'm guessing Proselytizing doesn't work, we're stuck with Gavelkind (or Elective Gavelkind) barring cultural methods (ultimo for steppes people, tanistry for picts and irish), etc. If we still have Religious Revocation Law bear in mind that it makes it legal to revoke catholic titles but they'll still give all catholic vassals -15 opinion if you do.they are, except the brother that inheritted and the danish king we conquered, universally christian. I couldn't ask for them to convert until I reformed the faith.
Converting back to Christianity is also an option. (I didn't know if stratigo had prepped the realm by secretly converting the vassals before switching openly, I believe that bypasses the restriction on demanding conversion.)Oh man, "Demand Religious Conversion" is a reformed-faith only thing huh. Hirstorically speaking that is what usually happens. The Pharoah Aknanaten for instance made Egypt monotheistic and worshipped the single god Aten, but his descendents immediately went back to the Pantheon. Religious debates believe this to be the Pharoah from the story of Joseph or even possibly Joseph himself, gaining a new name besides Zaphnath-Paanea upon ascent to the throne as he was he highest ranking Egyptian at the time. Genesis describes him as Pharoah in all but name.Converting back to Christianity is also an option. Yeah. If I hadn't died when I did, I would have started replacing the HI retinue units with knights until it was pure.I do wish knights weren't so shit in the game though. The way CK2 tactics work you never want 3 types of units in an army (and you never want Horse archers until they fix how bad their tactics are). Pikeman, heavy infantry, and knights all in one army means that most tactics will hurt one of them. And Pikemen and heavy infantry are so much easier to mass.
