Serpulo-Log Set 1
This is my first time writing something like this so please correct me for any mistakes I make. also no this won't be a SI story. and also, this story will have inspiration from Factory Isolation by Lost Star if you have read the fic: Factory Isolation (SI Multicross) here's the link for it, gotta credit my inspirations after all.)

Text<-.txt

{Rename: Text.txt, to Log 1.txt}

Log_1.txt

{Write: If you are reading this, you are likely in my very same predicament, if so, I wish you luck, you are about to deal with a hell of a headache}

{Write: You know... if I wasn't on Serpulo. I would probably be focusing on how I became a robot, What a C.O.R.E even is, how I can research this stuff with only resources, but my current priority however, is simple.}

{Write: Don't Die On Ground Zero}

{Write:1. You are in the world of Mindustry, On Serpulo, the purple planet}

{Write:2. The C.O.R.E is you, the unit is just an extension of you, DON'T get it twisted.}

{Write:3. There are likely only 3 systems available to you. If you try to go elsewhere the logs just stop so I can only presume death follows}

{Write: I am writing this so that those that fall into my particular predicament can survive, Maybe even thrive, even if I may have fallen. These logs will likely be more personal after I give you the tutorial to not die to a horde of angry robots. The first thing you will note is that your emotions will still BE there... but they won't be felt nearly as strongly as they should, I should probably be terrified. But I think the robotic nature that I've been made a part of is dampening that, to just be mildly terrifying stress. STILL DOESN'T FEEL GOOD THOUGH. }

{Write: Your first steps should be to research mines and conveyors, they will be your life blood, and the only reason you can make any progress on this planet full of berserk a.i. They will let you obtain the resources that you need to fight the Crux, duh.}

{Write: Build conveyors to your C.O.R.E and connect them directly to the drills, they don't have to be coming out of the drills, just touching it, and it will connect. You will have some time to set up a small amount of production before the Crux arrive, after you start pumping copper to your core, set aside at least one patch of copper to be pumped to the front lines, there you will research turrets. They, the drills, and the conveyors all seemed to be powered by just, thin air, i'm not sure yet, don't question it until you have ground zero captured, use it to your advantage.}

{Write: Place down the turrets close to the drop zone, there's a heavy magnetic field repelling you, so you should know where it ends, especially since your C.O.R.E warns you if you are in it. Once you have walls researched, place them even closer just beyond the edge of the drop-zone. The crux should be dropping in soon, make sure you have a large amount of the turrets, Duos on either entrance to the main pass. Dagger's should start landing soon, the first unit your defenses will have to face.}

{Write:Before you go off and begin mining lead, Like Copper, pump most lead patches to your core, BUT leave one to pump to the front lines, research the rest of your conveyors with the lead from the core, as well as Scatters. A form of specifically Anti-Air turret.}

{Write: Place the scatters behind the duos, and pump lead into the nothing powered turrets that are Scatters. You will be able to manage things from there as long as you placed liberal amounts of Scatters, and Duos. There's also scrap here but you can't really use that just yet so feel free to ignore it. Towards the later waves, Maces and Flares, The former being flamethrower wielding versions of the Daggers. they are Tanky, pierce walls and deal serious damage, be ready to replace the walls if need be. Flares however are far more annoying, flying fast enough to bypass the Duos, which is why you need Scatters.}

{Write: There are 9 waves, once you have defeated all 9 waves you will be good to add little bypasses for when a turret belt is full so you can pump the remaining resources lead and copper back to your base. Once you are done, begin researching the remaining tech you haven't researched, and prepare to launch with a full core to the next sector.}

{Write: Well uh, now that I have some time to myself... found out what C.O.R.E means: Creative Operations and Research Essentialist. Not sure the full uh, meaning behind the name, but at least that's... something!}

{Write: How much research will I actually be getting done now that I think about it, I could begin to research the technology I already have, if I could only disassemble certain pieces at a time, but unfortunately, that seems to not be the case. Something to think about once I figure out how to jailbreak the system.}

{Write: Side note, someone just tried logging into me? i'm not sure where they are... probably in one of the other systems to be honest. Don't trust them though, so set the password to something ridiculous so I can make the decision later. Maybe I'm meant to be their assistant? well they couldn't remember their password 12 times so sucks to be them. Probably sitting on some sort of cushy world I imagine.}

{Write: For some reason though, and this is really worrying, I can't remember my name. That's going to become an issue isn't it?}

{Write: Ah that's.... that's a lot of.... am I gonna have to conquer all of them? Please don't tell me I have to conquer all of them.... haaa....}

{Write: I'm... going to have to conquer all of that... aren't I... to get even a lick of knowledge to what I need to do... Joy.}

{Write: Alright, in Star System One, or CORE System as I'm going to take to calling it, thankfully there are 3 planets
Serpulo: used to be Earthlike, infested with spores;
Erekir: is Venuslike... judging by V8 could be infested with neoplasm.... so that's mildly terrifying;
Tantros: is an ocean planet, seeing the pattern, I pray nothing's infesting it, but i'm not getting my hopes up.
There's also an asteroid belt, but I think it'll probably be a staging area for travelling to the other two star systems.}

{Write:May I remind you. There is an extra two star systems worth of planets.}

{Write: I'm going to have to figure out a plan for dealing with other planets in short order.... but that's later.}

{Write: Copper, and lead researches are done.... I don't think this tech tree will let me do my own research which is a paaaain. I'm going to have to jailbreak it at some point... That's gonna need a lot of C.O.R.Es and Silicon won't it.}

{Write: Alright, that is another goal that is definitively later, first goal should be getting to the interplanetary launch terminal, assuming this place follows some form of reasonable logic... which I have my doubts but I digress. If it works, I don't have to worry about survival sectors anymore unless they're bordering an attack sector and even then, only the units that would come from that sector.}

{Write: I'll likely be launching to the Frozen Forest next log, I've already maxed out my copper and lead reserves anyways so there's not much point staying at ground zero, plus if i'm correct. It will help to prevent me from dying to freak accidents, and I can probably only die if all of my C.O.R.Es are broken, which is a plus!}

Nauvis Journal Set 1
Entry 1-I am in hell. There is... No other way to explain it. It may look peaceful, but no true place of happiness has bugs the size of motorbikes.

So, to anyone in the future reading this, which if you are, I am likely dead, you may be wondering; What's the doohickey on your chest do, how do you even escape this place? Good luck figuring that out because we're apparently on a soft timer known as angry bugs. Let me lay down some ground rules for not dying.

-This world is Nauvis, the FACTORIO Nauvis, meaning you have all the pros and cons that come with it.
-Try to connect to the C.O.R.E database that you have, apparently it has better tools and techniques then guest mode. I couldn't get it working myself unfortunately, password locked and all that. The guest database seems to match with Factorio's base database, but uh, HAVING WHATEVER THE C.O.R.E DATABASE IS WOULD PROBABLY NOT HURT. You need to figure out how to hack a C.O.R.E login or connect with it some other way, so focus on that instead of a Rocket, as apparently you need a C.O.R.E login to even use a rocket. Or use any sort of invention apparatus. Or even to get luxury blueprints ARGH.
-You know how biters have an upper limit in Factorio? One guy tried turtling down and slowly expanding from previous logs, they apparently got B I G. Oversupply your defenses, you're going to be here for a while since you're going to have to spend an absurd time trying to log in.

Also as for the pictures, before I write the actual main part of the journal entry, i'm gonna talk about the aliens in some of the other entries, like I'm talking grey men, furless ape like creatures without even a single tail, snakes with arms... all that jazz, also if you're not my species, I suppose a bipedal fox with 9 tails is probably a bit odd as well. Apparently this thing is just a trap that steals just about anyone who it deems might have a chance at survival in this place. They don't, you're on death row, you are going to die a horrible death like me, but hey, at least it's diversity in who it kills... as little as that calms my nerves, at the very least it means I get to torch the biters early on... albeit I don't think my parlor tricks will really be heeeeeelpful later. I doubt they'll evolve to be even more flammable then they are right now. Now onto the actual journal entry.

I myself woke up, in a relatively sandy, but grassy field, lots of ores and tech on the ground, lake nearby all alone, this was back when I thought this was merely a purgatory. A place where I would be completely alone, probably go insane, but at least I will not be tortured, I played around a little with the C.O.R.E implant in my chest, danced a bit, and decided to use some of it's functions to maybe start building. It functioned similarly to Factorio, maybe I was supposed to build a rocket, or do something? I digress, I spent probably a solid half a day just working on the things, creating some mining lanes, Furnace stacks, a 2 boiler and steam engine combo, a couple labs, then I got researching in order to start making some progress, on the automation side of things after I realized I wouldn't be able to just login to the C.O.R.E package. However of course, this place isn't idyllic, it's like Factorio isn't it? There's a reason we aren't going to have a good time. There's a reason there are more then just a couple entries. There's a reason they talk about this place so negatively. OF COURSE there would be FUCKING BITERS, so I had to, after I researched basic automation, I immediately began working on military weapons, so that I wouldn't be mauled by the horde, setting up turrets, hand feeding them, then beginning work on automating the ammo with the iron I've got, and all that jazz.

I'll try not to despair, but I have a feeling it's going to be really hard to do so, considering ALL of the biters, and the fact that they won't just stop coming! I'll create a checklist of what I need to do, in order to keep sane, and at least try to figure out how to progress!

1-Begin progressing towards later military research in order to outpace the biters while I still can.
2-Hack into C.O.R.E database.
3-Begin working on escaping Nauvis to a planet with hopefully less biters.
Signing out until something notable
Side note: Having trouble remembering my name, will probably remember it soon though.

Entry 2- Being marked for death, and the horrible food here.

One of my tails almost got bitten off. but oddly enough, save for the nearby turrets, and walls, it seemed like they bee-lined for me instead of my factories. wait... they usually go for factories first unless fired upon in game right?... I'm marked for death aren't I, as if this place needs to be any more obviously hell? WHY ME THOUGH? On other news, Biters taste disgusting, and so does grass, and so does wood, which means I have to rely on those rations that taste like someone turned air to a solid, removed ANY FLAVORING, made it as TOUGH TO CHEW AS POSSIBLE, and decided. Yeah that's a good Ration, that totally won't drive anyone up the wall while eating it! OH BOY OH BOY I CAN'T WAIT TO CHEW SOME MORE AIR E' O'S WHEN I GET HUNGRY AGAIN. NOT.

Entry 3-Well uh, I mean uh, I guess that counts as a ceiling.

Still no invention or luxury goods but uh, I mean walls can act as pillars and uh, lay them sideways and you can.... kind of make a ceiling? it is an absolutely horrendous ceiling but I mean, if it ever rains or I need extra floors I guess that could work... still trying to figure out how I would even hack into that C.O.R.E database for the good stuff, managed to expand over an extra Iron patch, as well as over to some OIL, WHOO, albeit the oil will probably sit there doing nothing until I get to green research.... but hey at least it's oil, I bet someone from the U.S.M would probably adore this stuff...

Entry 4-AUTOMATION, and THANK THE DIVINES THAT GAS MASKS ARE PART OF ARMOR BLUEPRINTS.

Isolation is getting to me, but I'm TRYING TO LOOK ON THE BRIGHT SIDE. I've got let's see, Basic buildings, Conveyors, Inserters, red science, guns, walls, and ammo automated! So that's gotta count for something! Also managed to research heavy armor, Never have I been so glad to see a gas mask on something then today, cause I have a feeling this factory is going to make even breathing difficult. I'd rather not die of choking instead of dying to angry bugs, I want to go down fighting after all! Beginning some of the basic work on green science, as well so that is something!

Entry 5-Isolation fucking sucks

Yeah no, bright side or no, it still is horrible being isolated. You think you see somebody in the distance, you turn around there's nobody. Nobody to talk to, just a horde of biters that just keep on coming over to your walls, speaking of, they're beginning to pile up, and are now resistant to my parlor tricks... Now's probably the time to get actual guns, and work towards red ammo.

Entry 6-Home would be nice

I really want to go home, I miss my family, I miss actual nature, I miss those peaceful days. I'm probably going to take a day off as research progresses, maybe just take a nice long rest, and enjoy myself.

Entry 7-No

No. NO. NEED TO SLEEP. WHY ARE THEY IN HERE.

Entry 8-Screw biters!

Turns out given 8 hours, biters will make mouseholes to personally wake you up with a good nights mauling. Painkillers are nice, but SCREW BITERS. at least it's uh, distracting me from my worries hehe. but again BITERS ARE EVIL, WHY, ARE, THEY, INTERUPTING, MY, SLEEP. I WANTED 1 DAY OF REST BUT NOOOOOO. Fuck it Fish exist in Factorio, they'll Exist here!

Entry 9-No fish only Biters

Ah yes, BITERS THE SIZE OF FUCKING MOUNTAINS IN THE WATER IS GOOD, IT'S FUN, WHOOPDY FUCKING DOO. I don't think I can look at oceans the same way again after what the fuck I JUST FUCKING SAW. Hell, I saw Coral in there that looked vaguely like Biter Nests because of course I did, because remember, This. Is. Hell! Why couldn't I have just been able to access the C.O.R.E database from the get go!

Entry 10-Ores

The ores here are weird, some are buried in the ground as one would expect, but others are on the surface factorio style, My system has them labelled C.O.R.E Raised ores, guessing someone in the past actually did manage to log into that thing... not sure how it would raise the ores though.

Entry 11-No Bling

Did some backreading of journals while researching oil cracking, steel, and trains. Turns out someone got far enough to take a Core sample, the turtling guy, apparently this planet is filled to the brim with ONLY the base factorio ores.... so no gold bling unfortunately... maybe it's on another planet. Also apparently there are more sciences then just the base sciences, so I might start poking into those when they come up.
_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-
Any questions about how the story is operating, or suggestions you wish to make? Also yes this MC is Seperate from the C.O.R.E MC, and no this isn't a sidestory.
And do you have any questions about the MCs themselves by chance, or suggestions for modifiers in their respective worlds to shake things up(i.e Sea biters, BIG Biters, for Nauvis. Or some sort of Spore Menace on Serpulo.)

Log_5.txt

{Write: I am currently in the process of transit, something interesting I've found is that Serpulo looks almost hauntingly beautiful from up here. Clouds encircling the world, the air effervescent with a light purple mist, most likely spores, Purple almost choking the planet, sandy shores, seas, and icy plateaus glimmering in the light of the star.}

{Write: I will be making planet fall once again soon, to work upon graphite and energy production, as well as capture another sector for my purposes. Though with two C.O.R.Es it does indeed feel almost like I've got another brain helping me to process, which seems like it may come in handy for my purposes. I have yet again received a small handful of login requests that I will be promptly ignoring.}

{Write: What I will note however is it does seem like there is some activity in those crux bases right now, but I am not sure exactly what, as well as attack pods moving too and fro, all around the planet, as if on patrols. So that is quite interesting honestly. Either way what is most interesting is that scans are detecting some sort of structures inside the planet, so I'm going to have to investigate that once I capture Serpulo!}

{Write: I wonder what exactly it will end up being, some form of massive cave, alien cache of tech, a underground area full of cool new technologies to utilize, all the potential options are so interesting! It might even be some form of ancient entertainment I could use to keep myself entertained in between missions, that would be nice.}

{Write: Sidenote, unless it's a notable attack map, or survival map, I will most likely not be acknowledging numbered sectors beyond nothing their capture this is to make it so there aren't thousands upon thousands of logs just because I captured every single sector within Serpulo, and yes I did capture Sector 21 first to have a better staging ground for research and resources, then the frozen forest.}

{Write: The setup process is going well, I have found where enemies will land and have set up defenses against such, letting them think they have a shot to your C.O.R.E through a tiny passage is helpful for ensuring enemies go where I wish them to go during my set up process. I am aiming to establish superiority in this sector.}

{Write: Graphite I've found is most useful for arcs it allows me to make so I can set up further progress, while easily handling the enemies that come through, a patch of lead and copper has been dedicated to defenses, will be noting their effectiveness, Ground Zero was also perfected to be more neat and have resources go to the core whenever possible. Interestingly "incinerating" resources simply sends them to a random ore patch, except at the top, so I suppose that's why there are so many ore patches so high up to be on the surface, either way, this is helpful to me.}

{Write: Not to mention how useful just, all these resources in general are, they're almost pure when the miners extract them, these mining machines are mechanical marvels, removing all of the stuff surrounding the ore, and just getting the pure ore, it's amazing! I digress though, the main focus will be mainly on progressing towards capturing Serpulo, I will most likely capture a lot of the numbered sectors after capturing the launch terminal due to the simple fact of there being no enemies to contest them, and thus I'd be allowed to roam free, and optimize each of these sectors to their fullest potential!}

{Write:I don't want to get anything wrong, otherwise... I might wake from this dream, into harsh reality... no I don't want to think of that, focus.}

{Write: The foothold I have established within the Frozen Forest hasn't been challenged significantly yet, Menders are being used to ensure defenses will not be broken. I will be noting it seems I can only really reclaim tech through caches, which seems to be why I need to land and capture certain sectors in order to unlock their tech... that's unfortunate.}

{Write: The enemies, more Maces, Daggers, and Flares have all been dealt with handily, by the defenses I have set forth. The air however is tinged a purple hue, absolutely CHOKED with spores... also the night isn't fun... hopefully I can get silicon soon. Either way I will be setting up another resource outpost once the waves conclude.}

{Write: There seems to be an oddly high density of coal and lead on this planet now that I think about it, not a lot of iron, the lead's toxic to multicellular life proper so... was life on this planet most likely composed of simple life, as not much probably evolved to be able to handle the toxins of the lead, or maybe something different?}

{Write: Whatever it may be, the copper, lead, and coal scattered about is quite helpful for my predicament, as I begin progress on conquering the planet, all the way towards the launch facility, which will hopefully make it so attack maps are just about the only worry, and most survival maps won't have to worry about further crux interference.}

{write: The Capturing of the Frozen Forest has went well, also, out of curiosity, I decided to check the size of each tile and uh... huh, the stuff I build is massive evidently, if each tile is 40x40 meters, so that's something interesting to note. After finishing the progress on this sector I will likely continue my progress until I find another good numbered staging sector.}

{Write: The Craters seems like the optimal next choice for research purposes, as it will allow access to metaglass, and silicon, as well as further my overall access to these materials, plus the enemies that appear are mostly just crawlers and maces, so given proper preparation and due diligence, capturing the sector for material access purposes would be quite optimal. An analysis also indicates it might be a good place to start using water based power sources if possible.}

{Write: But considering the size of the tiles. It's worrying that there's such massive craters?, maybe it could lead to some form of weapon I could use in order to better defeat certain enemies? Anyhow, yet more login attempts, yet more ignoring. Things are... fine at least nothing seems... to obviously be wrong, so I think I'm doing things right at least!}

{write: Getting close to finishing up this batch of research though, the next log will likely be another log written in transit!, Hopefully I can figure out a way to speed this up... because this will likely take a while now that I think about it. especially since it'll be a good 13 sectors till the launch terminal, and each of these takes at least a day, potentially multiple to capture. Not to mention all of the numbered sectors... of which there's over 200.... not looking forward to that.}

{write: Currently in transit, thinking about how exactly combat sectors will work, since the Crux. will most definitely NOT be going easy on me the whole time, but they probably won't be able to just magic out a production lin-- oh right yes they can... they have multiple launch sites for resources and enemies I imagine... hopefully those sectors get easier once I get rid of the launch terminal.}

{Write: Serpulo most certainly is hauntingly beautiful from up here at least! can't wait to start getting silicon so I can get to the meat and potatoes of this whole tech situation, maybe even make some rather significant progress, it shouldn't be that hard I'd hope! Also I am so glad that what I'm fighting are robots, I am not entirely sure if I could handle killing that many biological things in droves... but then again neoplasm might be an issue, well. We'll get there when we get there!}

{Write: I'm thinking about taking up some form of basic hobby of some sort while on Serpulo, Considering how little there exactly is to do I'm not sure 100% what I'll pick, but something interesting would be a form of art maybe... maybe going back to old sectors and sprucing them up... not entirely sure!, I'll figure it out when I get to that point! Well, Either way, I'm going to be making progress on the whole making this planet safe for me to just exist on project!}

{Write: Landed on The Craters and it looks a lot more beat up in person, and a lot more obvious that it was a bomb that did this so that is a bit, disconcerting... Either way I've begun setting up copper and lead mining, the main issue here is mainly getting enough coal for graphite, AND silicon, alongside power, so that is a slight headache... silicon and graphite are both hurting while I work on metaglass as well... lead+sand of all things for it, not sure why glass needs lead of all things.}

{Write: Either way I've begun setting up, found which section the crawlers will be coming from, and am setting up a defensive wall, with Duos, Arcs and Menders. Crawlers for reference are basically tiny little explosive running units, that run into your walls then explode so that is going to be mildly annoying due to a lack of lancers to easily remove them... But I think I have enough Duos and Arcs there to manage.}

{Write: The Metaglass situation is still a headache to sort out, but once I get water, I get cheaper power, once I get cheaper power I can focus on Silicon and graphite more with the coal then the generators and then there's that.... and there's the explosions now... checking... alright good. Nothing broken, and everything is being repaired, should probably set up some scatters there as well to prevent flying units from blitzing through... Will be signing out for the moment.}

Author's note: Thank you for reading this! wasn't sure if anyone would read it but I'm glad there were, hope you are enjoying it as well! Also Just a question, Would you all prefer if I skipped over most of the survival sectors after the craters, or do you want all 16 Mindustry sectors + a small handful of notable numbered sectors?
