One of the things I would really like to do is have Sun Fan write a couple books, though it would be really hard to do that for numrous reasons. First, we don't have paper or anything similar, which means it would have to be written on hides or clay tablets or something similar. Then there is the problem of what to write it in. The obvious thing is to just write it one classical Chinese, but then she needs to also teach at least some people to read and write the language so they can actually understand she wisdom she's trying to pass on.

Still, in my dream world I would like to write a couple of books:

The Taiwei Fa (Methods of the Taiwei/Grand Commandant), Sun Fen's equvalent to the Methods of the Sima, one of the Chinese Military Classics. This one would describe everything from government policy, military organisation, tactics and trategy as well as a light sprinkling of Confucian philosophy. If she does manage to attain a higher military position in her lifetime, Taiwei or Grand Commandant is probably the title she'll take for herself.

The Sunzi Sishu Wujing Zhengyi (Master Sun's Right Meanings of the Four Books and Five Classics), Sun Fen's desperate attempt to compile as much of the entire Confucian canon as she can into one book, probably with a focus on proper etiquette and social behaviour. She'd definitely be crying on the inside while trying to do this.

I would like to note that while I have studied Chinese for a couple of years, I'm atrocious at the language. Still, I wanted to at least atempt to make Chinese names for these books, so I constructed some with the help of Wiktionary. If someone who actually can the language read this, feel free to verbally slap me around a bit if I've done any mistakes.

Edit:
Royalist, did you go on a wikipedia binge while reaseching Sun Fen's backstory and now want to turn at least some of the humans into militaristic Confucians?
- Yes, dear hypothetical reader, yes I did/do

On that note... Snakes and Ladders was made in the 13th century...

Now I want to make an Indian board-game hobbyist from the 16th century who just brings along a bunch of boardgames ideas and teaches them to the K'tal.

Yeah it seems unlikely maybe she could teach them orally? Think the Iliad, sure it won't be perfect but if she can create some kind of story based around the concept of strategy and clever tactics, especially say those against Giant's. We'd preserve the history much easier for when we do finally achieve a form of writing. After all writing is gonna take a while to be made and then spread so an oral story is much more likely to survive even if it becomes warped over generations.

Intrigue - 1 (0)
Lore - 4 (3)
Fervor - 3 (2)
Martial - 4 (3)
Prowess - 1 (0)
Magic - 2 (2)

This is my WIP stats array for Sun Fen. Its highest stats are Martial and Lore, so she teach and build up that semi-professional and somewhat disciplined military force I've been talking about. A couple points in Fervor for that "creating long-lasting institutions" thing, since I don't want this army and military training structure to collapse as soon as Sun Fen dies. A couple points in Administration because, shock of all shocks, soldiers need food and weapons to fight and someone needs to organise a better system of logistics.

Finally we have a couple points in magic, both so we can integrate some magic knowledge into the army without involving the two religious groups. Since the plan is to marry into one of the larger tribes, a bit of magic will hopefully help out in making Sun Fen a more desierable match for such a marriage.

I have a couple other ideas for changes I could do. I could take a point away from Fervor and Magic to up the Diplomacy stat. Since this whole "empowering only one tribe" thing is part of the wider plan to centralise humanity, diplomacy could be used to get smaller tribes into a proto-feudal/tributary system to the militarily empowered tribe. That way Sun Fen has more resources for her reforms and a system for peaceful centralisation is established. Though this might be spreading the points/missions a bit too thin.

Yeah its probably best to invest more points to diplomacy, it's preferable if we just intimidate the other tribes into joining us/being our vassals instead of actually going to full-blown war with them when we're still at war with the giants.

I don't think there will be full blown war even if I don't invest in diplomacy. Investing in Diplomacy means I would probably make the peaceful subjugation of a couple other tribes a secondary goal, but if I don't add any extra Diplomacy I'll probably just put all the focus on military reform and just leave the Diplomacy to the rest of whichever tribe Sun Fen joins.

Though now that I think about it, maybe one point in Diplomacy would be useful even if I don't do a diplo focused Secondary Goal.

I really need to make another Omake, just for one more character point. Getting some roll bonuses wouldn't be bad either

Sucking up to the QM ain't you, well as long as you give more cool Omakes I don't mind, just be mindful of the fact that you don't necessarily need to have magic & marry some rich dude to convince people to follow you. You can invest the 2 points or more into martial or intrigue and join a war band, steadily rising through the ranks via strategic acumen & cunning to kill trolls single-handedly using clever plans and traps until you gain enough respect and rank as the 'Troll Hunter' to gain enough follower to be the general of an army, and by extension the leader of a tribe. That way you can invest points into the skills that can actually help create an army instead of wasting it on a low potential in magic to get some weak spell. Remember, unless you're Reymon with a whopping 8 POINTS IN MAGIC, you're magic is probably going to be weaker the what Jesus introduced when he had 3 points. So unless you want to be handicapped by insignificant spells, go all in on martial or intrigue to pull off legendary feats of strategic acumen that are actually worthy of being in an Iliad. After all, tales like the Odyssey or Journey to the West weren't legendary because of the magic they showed, but because of the cunning and strategy of the heroes who could outsmart monsters and gods alike with nothing but their intelligence and wit.

[X] Unity: She attempts to reconcile Suhurta's and Yoshua's teachings, the all-powerful Yahweh also brought destruction to other people according to Yoshua, but power without justice and order is nothing.

Anyone else here thinking of worms?
What like the little creatures for fertilizing soil & possibly feeding livestock or the teen superhero book series?

Bro: Earthworms with irrigation & Crop Rotation would be so good for making previously barren areas fertile if we can do vermiculture & composting right. We already partially use earthworms with the Crop Rotation unintentionally (since I don't think the people here know about vermiculture that much) but if we could teach them how to actually farm worms all winter and actively use them, I feel like that'd be a major boost to farming that synergize well with the other farming related techs we have. Plus, if we end up moving south to the more dry & arid areas, we can use a combination of Crop Rotation, irrigation, & vermiculture to make them into veritable breadbaskets like how the American settlers did with the Midwest during the 1800s I think.

Good thinking, I was just imagining Taylor Herbert doing the worm

I think your forgetting one issue with that Vermiculture at least the American colonial one if I remember relied on importing European earthworms which weren't native to the American continent. Which were a bit more adaptable and useful in regards to farming then the Native American strain. As the European strains were domesticated and were hardier, we can't use the same ideas in that regard as we don't have domesticated worms.

At best we can replicate the use of earthworms and composting to slowly over generation begins this process and likely well only see the results in already fertile area. I doubt we a clannish society can simply overcome the issue of wanting to make hillish forests into a breadbasket. When the lands north of us are both lowland grasslands and have a major river, long term it makes a lot more sense to build a bread basket in the north not the south.

Oh btw, can we make barbed wire? We have copper, I feel like that should be enough to make barbed wire since all you'd need is to make it into a string-like shape and shape knots into it periodically to make the thorns. God knows, with how monster infest this world is, having fields of barbed wire around your farm or even just barbed wire surrounding you're house, would be a godsend since it'd stop monsters from just sneaking into places and eating your crops or killing you in you're sleeping.

Edit: After some quick research I realized our people aren't advanced enough yet to shape copper into thin enough wires for barbwire at a sufficient rate, hopefully when by gunsmith character comes and advanced metallurgy enough to be in the iron age, we can hope to make barbed wire in sufficient quantities.
