Superwomen of EVA: House of Ideas

On the week of June 6, 2022, Anthony Lombardini—known to many by his username OrionPax09–passed away following a long illness. Known for his work on the Superwomen of EVA fanfic series (in which the female characters of Neon Genesis Evangelion gain the powers and mantles of various Marvel superheroes), he leaves behind a number of fan-favorite stories, most of which had not been completed. To honor his memory as well as bring some closure to these tales, we are seeking writers to form a group within this thread (and potentially a Deviantart group) called the SWOE House of Ideas (taken from one of Marvel's many nicknames) in order to continue and conclude the stories that are currently unfinished. Please comment or PM either myself or marcoasalazarm if interested. (Admins, if not allowed, please let me know.)

*LONG Overdue Update 4/6/2024*
Long story short, as stated below, OrionPax09 is not dead, just no longer online (for personal reasons).

Ok, tossing an idea here: how about a "Superheroes of Eva" Fic that somewhat borrows from "Strikeforce Morituri" (although extremely vaguely), the "Evangelions can only be piloted by teens born after Second Impact" detail becomes "teens born after Second Impact have are the only ones who can be enhanced with superhuman powers" and there is a superhuman arms race (ex. Maria/Marie Vincennes is the only American Super and Asuka is… well, being disputed by at least two or three countries) with the obvious thing that is raising SEELE's hackles that for some weird reason (later shown to be Lilith) Japan has the lion's share of the kids that can be augmented.

The only thing that can stop a superhuman is another superhuman. The only thing that can stop an Angel is a superhuman. And the only thing that can stop a superhuman is an Angel.

Things are going to get ugly.

To be honest, I feel its kind of disrespectful to his memory to continue his stories without his consent. At best, I think you could do your own takes on the concept, instead.

So, pass....

Ok, so let's discuss a different approach to the tale where Misato Katsuragi becomes a She-Hulk. Wiped slate. Boom. Where to begin?

Also, the initial post by Authorofintent is not up to date: OrionPax09 is not dead. He just cut the electronic leash completely over… well, everything that happened IRL during 2022 overwhelming him (and I for one don't blame him) and the Visual Novel company he was working for deciding to release a "he is dead" announcement (the company, AFAIK, has a bit of a rep for being not nice).

Truth is stranger than fiction.

Asking for permission is still not a possibility, though. The dude who said he was not dead made clear Orion was truly fed up with everything.

Yeah, that makes it even less of a good idea to do this.....

Damn it, now I'm thinking about it.

Avengers: Tokyo-3

Keep Evangelion as canon, but ALSO set it in the MCU. Impact happens before the Avengers formed in canon, SHIELD, Iron Man, Captain America and others are rushing around, trying to reduce the damage. Information about the Angels coming is released, but instead of NERV running things, it's SHIELD.

Nick Fury asks Tony Stark to adapt 'Evangelion" AT Fields to Irom Man type suits?

So the Iron Man suits become nanotech and bio mechanical earlier than in the MCU canon timeline (talking 2015 vs. MCU's 2020s)?

So…. Asuka Langley Sohryu, War Machine? Or Misato?

Asuka as War Machine, msybe Shinji as 'Iron Man' and Rei as a version of Rescue.

As to why kids as pilots, the physical stresses on a pilot might get too much as you get older?

Or using the biomechanical tech only works for certain people, the "energy released by Second Impact" that it's implied in NGE canon. Misato is a user because she was at point blank range (unless we go for the Hulk route... for the sake of variation, how about more like Doc Samson instead?).

Fury... well, Fury is Fury. The man doing the hard decisions. For all that it keeps coming back to bite everybody (looking at you, "Secret Invasions" and Project TAHITI) no matter which universe.

That includes using kids as superheroes.

Ok, tossing idea here:

Misato as The Punisher. Reason: Shinji is in a coma as collateral damage of whatever crazy escalation has been brought by the appearance of the superwomen. I don't know if it would make it more functional if it happens in late series, after Kaji's death, but I guess would make it more understandable that Misato snaps, steals everything in the Section 2 armory and goes on the warpath.

Having a woman with a machine gun and knowledge of the conspiracy running around taking names does some damage to SEELE's and NERV's plans (major or minor, but they really were hoping for "none") and considering the inevitable encounter with the superwomen Misato is good now that she has removed the rust from her soldier instincts, but for the most part the heroes know Misato personally and don't want to accidentally send her to the morgue.

The plot is… well, Garth Ennis moulded the Punisher and all related media that is not the Super Hero Squad cameo and the Lundgren film, but his dislike of superheroes (putting it nicely) can be annoying and should not be in this tale. If Misato has it, it's a definite parallel to her Ahab-style breakdown in the final part of Eva/her going all "Gendo Cosplay" in Rebuild and she eventually accepts that it was wrong, or at least misplaced.

Her actions in the EOE section of the story… her hallway charge, up to eleven, while the gods rage somewhere in the background.

I've definitely seen this pitch before, on Spacebattles or the like?

The Punisher is one character, even in my own interpretation of SWOE, that I know should be distinct. (As in, I'm not going to say, use Duke Togo from Golgo 13 as either the visual basis or as the Punisher outright. If nothing else, his model from Marvel Anime could be recycled.)

Yeah, think I pitched this before. But in this idea, there is no Frank Castle. The skull… dunno… maybe Misato is a MHA fan and she has a copy of Bakugou's skull shirt lying around and it gives her an idea (ok, series happens in 2015 and MHA began long afterwards, but what the heck, artistic license. Maybe set the Eva timeline in 2024 instead? Add extra angst in that… well, Misato was an even younger kid during the Expedition). Or she is supposed to be ex-Special Forces (branch never, ever so much as hinted at in the stories - maybe Jieitai, but other tales has had her as a mercenary or worked on another army around the world) and the skull is because U.S. Special Forces is obsessed with the Punisher skull (even if this tale is happening in a world in which the Punisher never existed until Misato took arms).

Maybe the idea could have a Frank Castle Expy (or actual Frank) who picks up the role after Misato hangs up the guns (and if this was a "What If?" the Watcher would be narrating about how Castle becoming the Punisher is a constant), but I don't know how to make this work… maybe the dude has a role parallel to, say, Yuriko Watanabe of the PlayStation "Spider-Man" game or something, his life torn apart right there way in the background and once Misato kills all of the conspiracy and quits… "I knew she did not had the guts to keep at it. So I will." "The dudes who wanted to kill the world are dead." "The world is still full of scum."

In a similar vein, like I posted in the Ideas thread a while back, in a Charlton-themed SWOE environment, I could see Misato become a version of Peacemaker. (Just not in a Gunn-esque portrayal.)

Yeah, she also could be a good Vigilante (also not as presented in "Peacemaker"… or "Arrow", while we are at it). Two women took that codename (Pat Trayce and Adeline Wilson).

Says so on the Wiki. I personally only saw a couple of issues of Trayce's run (Costa Rica is such a lovely market for comic books… said with the sarcasm of someone who lives under the proverbial rock).

Ironically there are a couple of rising stars in DC that come from here - Dan Mora and John Timms.

Ok, another idea for a potential "superheroes of Eva" crossover:

What if Second Impact unleashed the Wild Card virus? One of the reasons why SEELE is trying to start Third Impact is because they don't like how mankind has become even more chaotic (and, oh yeah, the ones who got the virus - including Khil - all drew Jokers instead of Aces).

A potential sub-variant is that it's a crossover with "Mutant City Blues" and we use Campus Apocalypse as a basis for the Eva side.

(What is "Mutant City Blues"? Think X-Men (or maybe MHA, but strictly street-level and set roughly during the dawn of Quirks) meets CSI.)

So… Misato Katsuragi, Commander of the Tokyo Police Department Heightened Crime Investigation Unit.

I wonder if this is a good place to discuss a MLB/NGE crossover that is essentially "Superwomen of Eva: Saturday Morning Cartoon Edition"?

I mean, Plagg and Tikki are essentially primordial forces of the universe and older than Adam and Lilith, plus the wish is quite a stand in for Third Impact.

On that end… SOE: Saturday Morning Edition. Who could be what? Like, for example, Mana Kirishima is constantly the "technological hero", what could she be? A "Silverhawks"-style cyborg (with a minor homage to "Nobody Dies" there as well, such as her snarking about her having a compact disk drive in her gut and when, say, Kensuke goes all 'huh? You do?' Mana says '…you actually believed that?!') or a "Centurions"-style power armor/big gun user?

And what about the world outside Tokyo-3 (or technically most elsewhere that is not a major metropolis)? Some kind of "Thundarr the Barbarian"-style wasteland full of monsters born of superscience and sorcery?

Or maybe go for all in on the "this is Superwomen of Eva if it was produced for Eighties/Nineties Saturday Morning Cartoons" and have it feel like… uh… "Cyber C.O.P.S. (Central Organization of Police Specialists)" or the "Police Academy" (or "Robocop"… or "Rambo: The Force of Freedom") cartoon?

So… Misato as Space Ghost (she would definitely rock the outfit)?

The Evangelion tech borrows from Frankenstein Jr. or maybe one of the initial proposals was imagined by Dr. Benton Quest?

Ok… tossing a quick idea: how about a "what if a member of the Evangelion cast had the suit from 'Greatest American Hero'?" Eva crossover universe? Either a single character or the suit moves from user to user as the story goes on like in that Western film, "Winchester '73"?

Huh. Only brush I've had with mixing those two together was an omake in 'Super-Wackos of EVA: NERV Freaks Out'. But that might be worth exploring…
