Super Robot Quest

I hope that for the Finishing Strike, the Blazing Fist can still be used, sot hat we can give the kaiju an over-the-top end by EXTREME! punching.

Awake, awaiting caffeine, and air conditioning is on. Calling the vote, I have just enough time to see if I can get the rolls out on time before heading to work.

Granted the battle plans don't vary all that much ( :p ) but I'm cool with that. You guys are just on the cusp of breaking into the 'regular season' after all. (Still debatable if this is an OAV yet or not)

  • [X] Hrunting the Dragon
-[X] Turn One: Arc Blade called shot to attempt to sever the horn while it should be recharging, Callagahn Reroll on this. Follow up with Demolisher free activation and a double Unarmed Strike, engaging Inferno as support. K-Suit Reroll on K-Scale save rolls. There may be wrestling moves involved in this, not sure what would be appropriate given the size difference.
-[X] Turn Two: Support fire from Pegasus and Longship wing, Beowulf will use one of his actions as a Called Shot to try and cauterize some of the blood spray with Inferno and his second action for a Double Strike, using the Callaghan Reroll to support the Called Shot and the K-Suit reroll defensively.
-[X] Turn Three: Switch to Arc Blade, as it should be back online if it was damaged earlier, go to town with it. Also, our free Demolisher proc. Rerolls distributed as usual for this exchange.
-[X] Conditional: Engage Electromagnetic Shield in response to super moves. Use Finishers when possible, spending any Callaghan Rerolls unspent on them.

Well, that's because the strategy is to "to kill the Cyberdemon, shoot until it dies" in most cases, so no point to have multiple variations if the outcome is still the same.

Things will change once we can deploy multiple units at once, not merely a Core plus supports.

I went to sleep and missed @Alectai not changing his plan. Next time I should just write my own and shamelessly crib from him (and other posters) ideas.

I do think that there was a legitimate debate on strategy this vote vis a vis using inferno, using calling shots and my idea thatvI didn't get to articulate about using the fact that we are trying to get the dragon to focus on Callaghan to ever so slightly draw it away from the docks; but c'est la vie.

Timberwolf vs. Dragon: Rolling for Initiative

Timberwolf rolled: 6+4!
Dragon rolled: 3+2!

Timberwolf retains the Initiative!

Timberwolf: Arc Blade!
- Timberwolf doesn't like how the horn's glowing again. Let's do something about that!
Called shot to the horn; a 6 will slice the damn thing off. Otherwise, apply damage as normal.
- Rolled: 1+2!
- Ooof. Intuitive Pilot that.
- Rolled: 5+6!
- Good hit! Reflexive Scales try to prevent damage!
- Rolled: 3+5!
- Deflection of the blow; but you have delayed Acid Beam by one turn.

Timberwolf: INFERNO!
- Arc Blade and Blazing Fist cannot stack or interact (yet). Arc Blade set aside (narrative reasons will be provided).
Timberwolf Strikes!
- Rolled: 4+6!
- Hit! Reflexive Scales kick in!
- Rolled: 2+2!
- Timberwolf strikes grapples with the Dragon, who fails the damage reduction and lifts it up for a backbreaker. Inflicts 3 HP! (Hardened Scales apply)
- Acidic Blood kicks in!
- Rolled: 5!
- Heavy Zirvitium armor ignores 1 HP! Rolling for Extra Tough!
- Rolled: 4!
- Acid eats through, but nothing important.
Striking again!
- Rolled: 6+2!
- Another strike! Rolling for Reflexive Scales!
- Rolled: 6+3!
- Okay, it blocked the backbreaker part. Demolisher!
- Rolled: 6+2+2!
- Inflicted 3 HP! (Hardened Scales!) Ohh, it's going to feel that one.

Dragon: Acid Mist applies.
- Timberwolf: Absorbs the damage handily.
- Naval Facilities: 1 HP inflicted.

Dragon: I have had enough of this damned thing. Horned Charge!
- Rolled: 5+1+1!
- INCOMING! Rolling for Extra Tough first!
- Rolled: 2!
- Nope, you're not ignoring this one. Rolling for K-Scale Mesh.
- Rolled: 6+5!
- The Horn got caught by the K-Scale layer, but you really don't want it sticking around there! Inflicted 1 HP! (Heavy Zirvitium Armor and K-Scale applies)
- Attack successful; Rending Claws kicks in! All follow up attacks this combat turn inflict +1 HP to baseline!
- Attack successful; follow up Strike!
- Rolled: 4+5!
- Success! Rolling for Extra Tough!
- Rolled: 3!
- Nope. Inflicted 4 HP! (Heavy Zirvitium Armor applies)

Damage Control Team: Rolling!
- Rolled: 6!
- I said we're going into that building and holding up the supports!
- +2 HP restored to Facilities!

Combat Turn ends.
The situation: Timberwolf still has Initiative, but he's got a giant acidic horn stuck in his guts and is skidding backwards from the momentum of a very angry Kaiju.

Timberwolf: This is okay. My fists are still on fire.

Timberwolf: Called Shot. You're bleeding a lot. Let me help with that.
- Called Shot: On a 6 Threshold, you will cauterize all Acid abilities for one turn. Roll for damage normally.
- Rolled: 1+6!
- All pores sealed by fire! Acidic Blood cannot apply! Reflexive Scales do apply still.
- Rolled: 1+2!
- No effect! Dragon takes 3 HP! (Hardened Scales still apply)

Sasaki: The Timberwolf is holding the Dragon in place. All Starboard batteries, broadside fire!
- Rolled: 6+6+3!
- Success! Struck for 3 HP! (Hardened Scales still apply)

First Support Wing: Let's try this again.
- Rolled: 1+4+5!
- Success! That's a decent hit, inflicted 1 HP (Hardened Scales still apply)

Timberwolf: Not done yet. Double Strike on the Dragon!
- Rolled: 3+4!
- Nope. But that's okay. Trying again with Notable!
- Rolled: 6+5!
- Hit to the jaw! Rolling for Reflexive Scales!
- Rolled: 2+3!
- And that's an uppercut to the jaw! Dragon takes 3 more HP! (Hardened Scales still apply)

Acid Mist still lingers for one more turn! Inflicts 1 HP to Naval Facilities, but the Timberwolf doesn't notice.

The Dragon has taken enough damage! It is now molting!
- The Dragon has shed its skin and has taken to the sky! Reclassified as 'Dragonfly.'
- Dragonfly still cannot use Acidic Abilities this turn; pores are still sealed due to cleansing fire!

Dragonfly launches Piercing Strike!
- Rolled: 3+3!
- Failed; Dragonfly has 1 Action remaining.

Dragonfly launches Multi-Strike!
- Rolled: 6+3!
- Success! Rolling for Extra Tough.
- Rolled: 2!
- Nope. Rolling for K-Scale!
- Rolled: 6+1!
- Success! This Strike deals no damage (Heavy Zirvitium Armor and K-Scale), but Rending Claws take effect. +1 for all remaining Multi-Strikes!
- Dragonfly makes second attempt!
- Rolled: 1+3!
- Unsuccessful. Dragonfly makes final attempt!
- Rolled: 2+6!
- Success! Rolling for Extra Tough.
- Rolled: 1!
- Unsuccessful; applying K-Suit bonus to try again!
- Rolled: 4!
- Glancing blow!

Damage Control Teams try again:
- Rolled: 2!
- "No good, Chief! The way's blocked!"

Combat, Turn Five ends
Sasaki initiates a Tactical Analysis
- Rolled: 5+5!
- "The enemy has 21 HP remaining! Even with the different form, we can bring this thing down!"

Timberwolf: Opening up with Demolisher!
- Rolled: 6+5+1!
- Energy shotgun blasting! Dragonfly now rolls for Agile!
- Rolled: 2+5!
- Dodged! But you still inflict 2 HP!

Timberwolf: Inferno no longer in effect. Arc Blade! (And I am now imagining the Arc Blade, discarded in the water earlier, is summoned back to the hand via electrical current and anime bullshit physics :p )
- Using the Arc Blade to take some swings at this thing!
- Rolled: 3+4!
- Failed; using Intuitive Piloting to try again.
- Rolled: 5+2!
- Success! Dragonfly rolls for Agile again!
- Rolled: 4+3!
- Success! Dodged successfully.
- Notable applies; trying again!
- Rolled: 4+3!
- Nothing.

Timberwolf: One more time! Attacking!
- Rolled: 6+6!
- Critical success. Rolling for Agile!
- Rolled: 5+4!
- Dodged, but due to critical success, I'm giving you this: that horn was sliced off this time! Acidic Lance attack disabled!
- Agile now suffers from Diminishing Returns!
- Notable applies; one more swing!
- Rolled: 3+3!
- Failure; reserving re-rolls for defense.

Dragonfly: You haven't inflicted enough damage (HP wise) to deter it from the facilities! It swoops down to attack the facilities!
- Rolling: 2+2, 2+2, 6+5!
- Inflicted 2 HP of damage to Facilities! Facilities stand at 57 HP!

Damage Control Teams: I am calling bullshit on this one!
- Rolled: 1!
- Seriously!? GOD I HATE KAIJU!

Gotta give it to the DamCon guys.
They're trying to keep a sand castle intact... when there's a giant scaled bully trying to take it down.

Major props.

Even from the comments I can see that the battle will be metal and we're guarantered to force the kaiju to retreat, or even crush him before the other SR arrives. YAY!

The Dragon has taken enough damage! It is now molting!
- The Dragon has shed its skin and has taken to the sky! Reclassified as 'Dragonfly.'
- Dragonfly still cannot use Acidic Abilities this turn; pores are still sealed due to cleansing fire!

Gotta target these wings next turn to avoid it escaping. Or perhaps trapping the kaiju into a grapple/wrestling move to restrict its movements.

Sasaki initiates a Tactical Analysis
- Rolled: 5+5!
- "The enemy has 21 HP remaining! Even with the different form, we can bring this thing down!"

Someone good at maths can calculate how much HP did the enemy have, please?

- Dodged, but due to critical success, I'm giving you this: that horn was sliced off this time! Acidic Lance attack disabled!

Cool. Now then, we ought to do 6 more points of damage max and no more to avoid premature retreat, then activate electro-barrier to have the kaiju hurt himself more, and then finish the enemy with a Finisher.

After that, it's Westphalians' time!

I really hope we can get a retrieval team to get that horn in time. Imagine how much science we can get from that!

Sadly, being a thing made of BS acid, chances are it will self-destruct unless something or someone freezes it. Say, someone like Mercury V...

Unfortunately, they will start asking lots of questions if we petition them to do that, as well as increase the chance that sooner or later someone will discover that kaiju are made of soylent green.

54 HP on the Kaiju, pretty impressive.

Still, we're chewing through it at a precipitious rate.

I wouldn't be surprised if it has a final transformation mode instead of a "fight or flee" test.
However, considering how difficult to produce these creatures are, chances are it will try to flee at the first opportunity, unless it spots Mercury at some point, and not even then.

No they won't.

The Majors breakout feat is containing Kaiju samples for study. So far as the Union is concerned we are the experts, barring Sheol.

So the horn enabled its ranged attack then. Science is needed to reveal its secrets!

Negaquest must be shitting itself when the rumors about Devin get out. The guy is their specialist at Kaiju, Super Robots, and Ai.

They can still complain and be uncooperative as possible though before conceding, and perhaps try to fish for an opportunity to get a kaiju sample. These guys would be the ones that would discover the truth behind kaiju's dna faster than us, as they probably wouldn't try to waste time figuring out how to weaponize it.

They have Mazinger Z and their own flying ship, they won't be too concerned but perhaps a little worried for now. Of course, those paranoid enough will be claiming that the Fourth Impact variation is our ultimate objective somehow.

Like, why do you start with the assumption that Mercury V will oppose us? The Beowulf is inside a EUDF naval base heroically fighting against Sheol's Kaiju (while being the EUDF's initiative to fight against super robot threats to protect the populace).

Why would Hiroki start shit with Callaghan? It makes no sense.

Usually the non federation pilots in SRW have a low opinion of the Federation in general. The pilots eventually become friends though.

???

In OGs most of the cast are part of the federation army and in crossover games the equivalent of the fedration is whatever fits the shows in the game.

Like, you have SRW W which includes both GGG and Gundam SEED so the fedration has both good people and bad people inside it; while SRW J includes SEED, Nadesico and Tekkaman Blade so everyone in the Earth government is an asshole.

Barring the fact that we play as the EUDF super robot force, one of the major villain groups is Westphalians separatists. Y'know the villains who claim that the Union is evil and want to return to the age where the Earth was individual countries and they had disproportionate amounts of power?
