Super 8 Bit Dystopia RPG (8-bit Dystopia CK2 Style Quest)

Results: Abandoned lab discovered in the Far East.
Hmm, hopefully the stuff in the lab will be valuable to us.
Results: Mutant Town Vassalized.
Well at least we have another vassal to help and perhaps some new soldiers as well.
Results: Surface action enabled.
Well at least we have a stable place for a base, but we'll definitely need to be careful while building anything above ground.

So, our priorities right now would be:
A) Taking over the Red Nod Base (Martial) - At this point we have enough shysters to do so
B) Shyster Factory to have enough for taking over the blue nod base
C) Exploring Yardiovich´s abilities

And as secondary, but still important stuff:
D) Exploring abandoned lab
E) Resurrection machine
F) Dealing with Sirius Cult

A short decision
The Axem Rangers, a design you've been meaning to implement for a long time now.

And now, you've finally finished the Prototype.

Name: Axem Prototype
Appearance: A Silver Axem ranger of average build.
Stats
Martial: 25
Diplomacy: 15
Stewardship 15
Intrigue: 20
Occult: 20
Traits
[None yet]

They are - on average - not as powerful as many of your stronger Machine-Made, but should still be more than a match for any of your mass-produced models.

Hmmm.... but the prototype is still just that.

You could scrap it in order to produce two more Axem Rangers in your next production.

Or you could immediately put it to work and accept it as a member of your team.

What do you do?
[ ] Put it to Work (Gain [1] Hero Unit immediately)
[ ] Scrap it. (Gain the ability to make [2] Hero Units at a later day)

OOC: Man... writers block really, really, really sucks.

[X] Put it to Work (Gain [1] Hero Unit immediately)

We can't kill em, I've already named them! It's Charlie Silver, they like French New Age films and playing the tambourine.

Unless the next set is a qualitative improvement, there doesn't seem to be a difference between 1 now, 2nd later and 0 now, 2 later?

Beyond getting immediate Hero actions I mean.

Unfortunately, I've already confirmed we're not getting any more actions from heroes. The most we're getting from this is another semi-elite we can throw at problems- still useful, but not a game-changer like the other bosses.

That said, there's nothing strictly wrong with this prototype, and I'm expecting the other Axems to have roughly similar statlines overall (more along the lines of "take 5 points out of Diplomacy and put them in Intrigue instead" than a different build), so I'm voting to keep it anyway.

(Incidentally, I'm guessing the prototype looks more or less like Red in Machine Made colors.)

I think having a possibly weaker hero unit at least expands our range of action, and then, they might grow into being a more substantial character
welp so much for another hero action

I meant in the context of "We're either putting this guy to work immediately and making more next turn, or we're making two next turn", so unless the non-Prototype versions are absolutely better, by math there isn't any reason not to keep this one.

Okay, yeah, that's pretty much my take on this. Like, I'm thinking that not taking him immediately is essentially the "take a bit of time to customize him into one of the canon Axems" option but he's good as-is and, again, the biggest difference I'd expect from the others is slightly shifted stats.
