Where am I?
It's all black. I mean there is nothing in front of me. So I looked around. Isn't that a Minecraft Forge Loading Bar?
Yeah, it is.
Strange. How do I know that?
Hmm.
Alright. Let's do stuff then, first off who am I? My name is ******? No? What is it then? TrueGuardian32? Weird. Why are there numbers in my name? Eh, oh well. The name does feel familiar despite the numbers.
Alright I'm, my name is True. Why don't I have a body then? Hmm. I have to make myself one. Alright, let's see.
Green Eyes? That doesn't feel correct. Blue then? Yes. Pale skin, yes. Black hair, messy, short. Perfect. Height? Why am I stuck at six feet? Oh well. Alright. I need clothing now. Let's go with a white t-shirt, green hoodie, blue pants, and brown shoes. Perfect. I'm missing something though. Ah! Of course, a hybrid of glasses and a headset. Color that green as well.
Perfect.
So this is me. I think.
Alright, what's next?
Wait?
Why would I do that? Cause there is nothing I can do? You are underestimating the creativity of the mind. I can practice fighting, tell myself stories, or fight invisible shadow opponents from my head.
Let's do that.

I dodge another of the Shadow Floweys attacks. They are cheating to the extreme, I hate when it loads attacks that didn't even land on me!
But a bit longer and it will be considered my victory. Eh, when I first started against Flowey I couldn't even last a few minutes. Now I've almost lasted an hour. I'd say I have improved. Although I haven't stood a chance against Sans. It's weird how realistic the creatures from my head are.
"Stop loading attacks that didn't happen!"
"DiE dIe diE!"
"That is pure BS!"
I've gotten really good at monologuing internally as I fight. Sans was an annoying person to fight. His control of gravity kept me at distance no matter how hard I tried to get close to him, plus his blinks would put me at a disadvantage in mere moments. Still, after fighting Flowey for so long such tactics were ones I could get used to. I was getting used to many types of attacks. As I had a few constructs in my head I could fight against. The titans were annoying for their sheer size and just how terrifying they were.
It's weird how much mobility I have in this void. I'm able to climb nothing, fall through nothing, or if needed for my mental fights? Fly through nothing. Plus I swear it is listening when I tell stories to myself.

Sans seemed much less annoying after I fought both him and Papyrus at the same time. Although he got lazy after Paps called this fight a spar. Why are these things so accurate when they are just mental constructs? I don't really know. When I don't want to fight anyone or want to relax I create Asriel. He's interesting to talk to. Fun too at times.
They also started to try to teach me their magic. I hadn't made any progress... Which is saddening yet understandable at the same time.
I kept fight more and more difficult bosses as well as doing personal training, mainly climbing and reaction time. Once I fought myself, I lost. It's weird fighting someone who knows all your moves before you use them.

I started training with an Undyne construct and several variations of military Sargents. Master Chief is strict as ****, anyways, they were able to teach me something I needed. Discipline and Patience. The Chief might be tough due to his upbringing, after all, he is the hope of humanity in his world.
After that? Time passed and I kept training with them. Eventually, I was able to outpace Undyne. The Chief took longer to fight thanks to his superior reflexes, and he could kill me with ease if he was really here. But eventually, I was able to beat him 1 on 1. Although he got much meaner after that.
Once my training with Undyne ended I started a new training with the Doom Guy... That was a bad idea, he kept making me spawn demon constructs for him to slay. Eventually, I told him I was going to look for a different trainer and he just shrugged at me. I sent him off with good luck and looked for a new trainer. Then I created a Monitor from Halo. It called itself Renewel. Renewel tried to teach me the Forerunner concepts and equations... it was confusing but rewarding. If it wasn't an illusion of my imagination I could probably build a hardlight generator. I made a bunch of mental materials as he guided me through basically everything.
I have a lot of mental training going on now. With my mental constructions, my stories, and the training itself. I'm not even sure if I'm sane anymore, but I'm having fun. That is all that matters. I was making progress in every subject. Although it would be sometime before I was finished.

Strategy can be fun, but it is annoying when you think about it realistically. I summoned Captain Keyes from Halo and asked him to teach me a strategy. It hasn't been going well. On the other hand, he is very interested in Monitor Renewel.
---
Captain Keyes, "Son, what is this place?"
I thought for a second. "Well, I guess I do technically know what this is. This is a subdimension of the Void. The Void is one of the layers between dimensions. Currently, I am here waiting to move to my next world. You could call this my beginning. But the thing about the Void is that it exists between time itself. Which is why I'm actually able to summon you, Chief, and Monitor, even though you guys are from separate times. Technically this would alter the timestream if I'm not just summoning you. If I am changing the timestream of your specific worlds, you guys would remember it due to being in the Void, while others wouldn't."
"Hm, Son, can you tell us what happens in our future? Just in case." Keyes asks.
I shrug, "I suppose so. Here is what I know..."

I said my farewell to everyone. Many said my training wasn't over yet. I told them that my time in the Void was coming to an end. I wouldn't be here soon enough after all. They asked me where I would go, I replied I don't know, but what they have taught me would hopefully help me.

Where am I? It's bright, painful. Annoying.
Sand?
Oh. A beach.
And a forest behind me.
This will be interesting, I'm still in the clothes I chose at the beginning, surprisingly enough they aren't dirty. I get up, the ground beneath my shoes. It is awkward, but I adapt quickly, the Chiefs terrain training was actually useful after all. I attempt to summon Papyrus... It doesn't work. It may only be an aspect of the Void then. Then it might really have been a summoning... Interesting. Maybe I'll be able to use the Void in the future?
Well then. It's time to begin. I need a weapon, just something to defend myself. we have a bunch of sharp shells on this beach, don't we? Wouldn't that be an interesting weapon... Let's see, now I need a vine. I don't see one on-site, so I need to improvise then. Let's wash out these shells using the water first. Just in case.
After that? I started to explore. I need to know where I am.
The forest... it was quiet. I saw some critters moving around sometimes. But mostly? It was just me. I kept heading inwards. I had a mental compass to follow thanks to my training, so I knew I was going somewhere. I also started collecting loose sticks, as I could use them later.
That wasn't all I did though. I mentally cataloged everything I passed on a mental map of sorts. I was actually taught that by Papyrus funnily enough. Despite knowing he wasn't able to navigate the Core. Maybe the Core in that universe actually is confusing? He did say it changed all the time, so without resets, it may be difficult to navigate.
Anyways, with my mental mapping, I was able to explore the forest with ease. As I walked along and collected sticks I also tried to put the shells at the end of my longer sticks, I had three of them after all. It took a bit to wedge in, but it was something I could use temporarily. I should've made a backpack in the void. Oh well, I didn't truly know where I was going to end up anyways. There is a hill up ahead, I can use that to get some view on where I am.
It doesn't take long for me to get up the hill, but what I saw... was boring. Forest as far as I could see, except... That's smoke! How much, only one plume, so a campfire I think. I should be able to make my way over there easily enough.
---
Finding my way to the fire is surprisingly easy. I had a map in my head due to my vantage point already. So I was able to make it there pretty quickly. At this point, I used my training from the Chief. He taught me how to move silently with any kind of armor or tool. Its likely how the Spartans are so quiet when they walk around despite wearing that armor.
Anyways let's see what we have. Five humans, or they look like humans. One bald guy in plate armor, medieval. The rest are in leather armor. All of them male. Bloody weapons? No, not bloody. No recent fights then, but the worlds dangerous enough for them to need to be armed. Body language? Relaxed, they have no scout watching for intruders. They have been through this place often then. Smell? Honestly not as terrible as I expected. Clothes? Seems to be woolen clothes under that armor.
Alright. Language? I can't understand it. Do I have a solution? Possibly. One of the spells Papyrus attempted to teach me was a translation spell. Let's see... 'TRANSLATE'
Bald Plate Armor Guy - "Is it almost time to set off."
That freaking worked?!?! How the ****! If I remember correctly that spell works both ways. Which is actually insane. It even extends to reading... That means I can read all the novels I want!
Guy in Leather Armor 1 - "Hear about the mill?"
Guy in Leather Armor 2 - "Yeah, it's a shame."
Guy in Leather Armor 1 - "You think the king will do anything?"
Guy In Leather Armor 3 - "What can he do, those monsters disappear during the day."
Interesting.
Bald Plate Armor Guy - "Nick, Eves, Shut up and start packing up. It's time to move."
Ah, so the first guy in armor is Nick, and the third guy is Eves. Alright then. I'm not ready to show myself yet, and although I am getting hungry. I should be able to get something to eat in a moment. Nothing to worry about there.
Nick - "We are getting to it Oppis. We were just talking for a moment."
Ah, so the bald guy is Oppis then. Strange name.
Oppis - "Maybe, but night will fall in only a few hours, I want to get to town before it comes unless you two want to be zombie food?"
More information, monsters, night, zombies.
It's not Minecraft, but it seems to be heavily influenced by that game. But things aren't likely to be clear cut. I'll find out more on my own I suppose.
Anyways, I split off from the group, I'll follow their tracks to the village later. I'd rather not deal with an individual group, I've read stories that do that, and but I know the odds of the first people you meet being nice is actually extremely low. Those people had protagonists luck, and I'm not going to try that. Anyways, I'm hungry. I can't start a fire so let's go with a non-meat diet. I saw some berries earlier that I could eat. From what I saw they should be edible.
Ah, here they are. Yeah, nibbling and no nearby bodies, which means the animals have been eating the berries without problems. Could be wrong, but I feel like I'll be fine. I think. Anyways, I try out the berries... Actually doesn't taste that bad. Not very filling, but it will keep the hunger at bay. I'll need to get an actual meal later.
It's been a few minutes, I should get to tracking those guys.
---
It's almost sundown, about time for the night. However, we have made it to the village. I say we, but it was more like them making it and me following them. Man, I am hungry. I'll go hunting tomorrow. For now? I'll sleep in a tree.
It only takes me a moment to scale one of the many trees around the village, after that it was just a matter of finding the right branch cause I didn't have a rope. I laid down on my back, watching the stars... I'll be among them soon enough. If everything in the Void was real.
*Clack clack.*
What? I look towards the village walls. That's... a lot of zombies and skeletons. They can't seem to get in, but the town does have some people in towers watching, a town guard I suppose. The wall is wooden, but it looks treated. They must be coated in something to prevent fires. Anyways, the guards seem to be out of distance of the skeletons bo- Bow, and Arrow. Iron. Swords. These zombies and skeletons have valuable items I can trade for food... Plus if they are like Minecraft zombies and skeletons I'll get experience from them.
I'm going to kill them. I hop down from the tree. Immediately I feel that they detect me, the zombies turn and the skeletons draw back their bows. I move fast. Putting bodies between me and the skeletons, and then I rush in. The zombies are surprisingly fast, but it matters not, I was taught how to fight massive groups of enemies after all. It only takes a few moments to close the distance. Then I begin. I start by ripping the head off the closest zombie, taking the rib bones out as well, then I unhook the shell stick I made a while back, and proceed to crack the heads of zombies. I continue to continuously attack like this, eventually, I make it to the skeletons, and they are easy to rip apart as long as I dodge the arrows. Bones while tough, can be brittle.
I keep doing this for a bit. Eventually, all the mobs are dead, or redead. I was actually surprisingly quiet about it too. It was now silent outside the village. I started to loot. I found armor, bows, and arrows. A few pickaxes and swords. I was making a pile for everything.
Surprisingly enough, no one in the village had even noticed what was happening, but I could tell that they were starting to feel that something was off, probably the lack of groaning and clacking bones. After I had a small pile of weapons I pulled them away and went back behind my cover in the trees. I didn't go too far off. Only a three or so trees away. Now I... *yawn* I wait till morning, my stuff is hidden well enough.
---
Man, it's the first time I've slept in a long time. I didn't need to sleep in the Void Dimension.
Hmm, people are active in the morning. The scorch marks on the ground let me know that this world does bear semblance with Minecraft, a lot of semblances actually. The villagers are apparently trying to figure out what was going on. Hm, Today I introduce myself then. I wonder how tha-
Is that a plant from the Botania mod?
It is.
That's a magical green flower!
What the heck! A villager has a modded item. I need it... I want it! If I can harvest the magic of Botania I will have another edge in this world. I want it so badly now. Oh well, I better put up my stuff. My clothes are weirdly clean despite the slaughter from the night before. That apparently no one heard.
I hopped down from my tree and checked my stash. I now had a rusty iron sword... however this ax is less rusty, and just as dangerous. Let's go with that for now. Although I suppose I don't actually need a weapon, my body is a weapon. But it will help if needed. I can probably smelt down this stuff if I get the chance.
I start to approach them. [Translation].
"Who is that?"
"Halt!"
I come to a stop, looking at the guard.
"Greetings."
"Identify yourself, stranger. Who are you and what are you doing here."
"My name is True, I am a Mob Hunter."
They stopped at that.
"What is a Mob Hunter?"
"I hunt the zombies and skeletons that appear at night."
I made up this occupation on the spot... but hopefully, it will have an effect.
"Are you the one that got rid of the zombies and skeletons last night?" He asks surprised.
I smile, "Yep."
"Come on in, you can talk to the Elder."
---
Well, I made it inside under the title of Mob Hunter. I was actually able to trade some of the bones I looted from the skeletons, apparently, they do increase the growth of crops, which makes them extremely valuable for a small town like this. They didn't ask as many questions as I thought they would either. I didn't really have any good luck with finding more info about this world.
I did talk to the Elder though. He had never heard of a Mob Hunter before, but I told him it was a relatively new occupation. Something to help with the Mob Problem we already have. Then he asked why I didn't call them monsters, I told him this. "Monsters can think. Mobs can't." I offered to open an apprentice position while I was there, but I told him I don't think anyone will join this kind of high-risk occupation. He told me I was wrong on that front, and that was proven rather quickly.
I had rented a small slot of land that I was using as a staging ground, it was near to the blacksmith, so I was able to get some things done, although the blacksmith said my form was rough, so I watched and learned some tips from him. It was easier to pick up things from others now, I have had many teachers after all.
Now we reach this point, a kid around ten or thirteen years old bowing at my doors asking to become my apprentice.
"Get up." I watch the boy stand up. There was a fire in his eyes. But I didn't really care about that.
"Do you understand what you are asking boy?"
"I want to fight the monsters." I sigh.
"Come in, we will talk."
---
This is a mistake... Eh, Screw it. I don't mind teaching him if he passes my training.
I suppose I should begin, "Name."
"Erin."
"Erin huh. You want to be a Mob Hunter. Why?"
"... They killed my family."
"Understandable then. Now then, do you know the difference between a Mob and a Monster?"
He stops at that. "Sir, I don't know."
"A Monster can think. A Mob can't."
He looks confused at that, "They can't think? How did they always find us then?"
"Pathing. A Mob follows the same paths, if there is a way to your location, they will find it. If there isn't? They won't."
He contemplates that.
"Anyways, beyond that. You do understand becoming a Mob Hunter is a dangerous occupation correct?"
The fire in his eyes is back, man that is weird.
"Yes. I am prepared."
"Heres the thing. I don't think you are."
He stops at that. Anger appearing. He tries to speak before I interrupt him.
"However, I will give you a chance. Listen closely. I am going to teach you the basics of combat, and then tonight we are going to go out for a test. If you pass? You will continue training and learn how to become a Mob Hunter. If you don't? Well, I will have one more thing to try, if you fail that one. You will never be a Mob Hunter." I am technically serious. I'm kinda mentally deranged, so I don't really have a problem with destroying Mobs, there is a difference between me and normal people in that sense I guess.
"I will not fail."
"Well then, let's begin. Come I'll get you a dagger."
---
"Again," I say as I knock Erin to the ground.
"URGH! This is getting me nowhere!" He yells out. "How the heck am I supposed to beat you when your using a sword!"
"You can't beat me. You don't have the training for something like that, this is teaching you how to fall."
He stops. "What? This is just to teach me how to fall?!"
"Yeah, you're failing terribly by the way."
"How am I failing at falling?"
I sigh, "Cause you can't get back up. A Mob Hunter isn't a Knight or a Warrior, a Mob Hunter doesn't charge in with a do or die scenario, they can retreat, fall back, and then reengage. If you can get back up within a second of falling, you are passing. But right now it takes you nearly ten seconds total. It only takes three seconds of being on the ground before you die. Now get up."
He stands. His dirty face grimacing in determination. Wow, I am beating the heck out of a child.
---
Now then.
"Next up is simple. Don't get hit."
I have recruited the local kids and made a few leather balls. They are my assistants for this session.
"How is this supposed to help me be a Mob Hunter!?!"
"Arrows of course. Make it past the obstacle course and stab the dummy with your dagger and you win. Begin."
*bam bam bam*
This is going to take a while, isn't it? Man, I wonder if he will even survive tonight.
---
"Next up is simple, block my attacks."
His face goes pale at that, as he was barely able to do that when in the first training area. I wouldn't beat him too hard this time, but hopefully, he learns how to block fast.
*whack.*
---
Well. "We got two more hours till nightfall, come on. I'll make you something to eat."
"Thanks, Teacher."
It doesn't take me long to make it back to the house I had purchased. I then start to make some chicken stew, a few carrots and potatoes does a lot for a stew. Although I must admit I'm not used to cutting eyes off potatoes. I was able to do it goo enough though.
We eat in silence.
After that? Well. I start to teach the kid how to sharpen his weapons with some flint, I told him normally we would use a grindstone, but when we are out of a village a piece of flint or stone will normally have to do. Flint preferably.
---
Night Falls. Time for trial by fire. He is tired, I know this. I'll have to keep a close eye out. I leave the village with the kid and wait. It doesn't take long for a group of zombies and skeletons to appear. Only five, good number.
"Your task is to take down one Mob. You should start before they start amassing."
Then hes off, charging the first zombie. A good start... but still a mistake, two arrows pierce his body. I had my dagger ready to throw interception if needed. This is the moment though, will he pass? Or fail?
I hear him hiss as the charge was interrupted, and now hes frozen.
1. 2. 3. I intervene. I start cutting apart the mobs, in moments the zombies are bisected and the skeletons are in pieces. Then I look at Erin.
He's losing blood, but he seems to be frozen. Which means he failed. I come to him and knock him out. Before proceeding to pick him up and bring him back into the village. A few other villagers were shocked by the arrows.
It doesn't take me long to return to the hut, where I cut off the arrows and remove them. The arrows aren't barbed so it was easy to do.
After that I clean his wounds and bandage him. He will need to rest for a while.
I'll break him the bad news tomorrow.
