What makes this comedy of errors on the PRTs part even better/worse is that it can't be much more than an hour after the GG/Oni Lee fight.
You're forgetting that Taylor's healing attempts are qi-embued strikes with her hands, so to the uniformed it looks like she's going around smacking the downed cops and then whaling on poor Vicki with over 100 hits since her forcefield complicated matters.fired a warning shot/bullet [and maybe describe how much it missed by/where it went].
considering Taylor's excessive response? It still sounds a bit odd even with that, and I'm not sure why.
That sounds right about par for the course. I do have to reread a few chapters to figure out what exactly they are after her for, though...
call the PRT
Okay, so the previous chapter did explain it. Wow, how narcissistic do they have to be to figure she was involved? I have to imagine there would be a ton of witnesses, unless they all figured that crapping their pants was an attack on them...
It does seem like very flimsy reasoning on their part, though. I'll be interested to see if or how this gets resolved. I can't imagine "kidnapping" Panacea helps...
Nukite is a super dangerous evil villain who is also so incompetent as to fall to kill anyone despite no resistance and (apparently) Oni Lee as back up.
I'm confused by the PRT's mental gymnastics. But that too is canon. Nukite is a super dangerous evil villain who is also so incompetent as to fall to kill anyone despite no resistance and (apparently) Oni Lee as back up. But she looks Asian and is scary so lethal force is authorized!
They'd be finger pokes rather than slaps actually, but yes, it does basically look like she is attacking the fallen. You're forgetting that Taylor's healing attempts are qi-embued strikes with her hands, so to the uniformed it looks like she's going around smacking the downed cops and then whaling on poor Vicki with over 100 hits since her forcefield complicated matters.
Not quite on the level of a Healing Shiv, but Taylor's Comforting Slap leaves bystanders confused.
Xianxia characters also have a habit of escalating everything forever until they are dead, and often then it just turns out they were a catspaw for someone higher up the chain and the escalation continues even after death. One of the few types of genre crossover that would actually lower the general competance of the PRT is with Xianxia.
Cultivation opposes heaven, and Xianxia Protagonists usually end up opposing everything - to the point of reality seeming to warp to help them establish new grudges like particularly ornery Warhammer Dwarves. It's a traditional part of the genre, since vengeance is a particularly self-destructive part of the "heroic honour code" in wuxia.
Admittedly Way of Choices is lot better than most when it comes doing this well.
Xianxia in a nutshell:Xianxia characters also have a habit of escalating everything forever until they are dead, and often then it just turns out they were a catspaw for someone higher up the chain and the escalation continues even after death.
So it's no surprise that Taylor smoothly slotted into the 'protagonist' space when she ended up in a Xianxia setting.
The primary power source used by most of the characters is even Qi, with Literal Magic and Soul Shenanigans also showing up here and there as uncommon-but-powerful techniques usually unique to specific individuals or clans.Xianxia in a nutshell:
"X has offended me, I will punch him out."
"Don't punch out X, he's protected by Y who's much stronger than you"
"Fine, I will train until I can punch out Y too!"
*punches out X, and Y*
"Oh no, you've offended Z, who was allies with Y, he's even stronger!"
*Gets ass handed to them by Z*
*repeat*
...wait, where have I heard this...
Goddamn it Dragonball! YOU WERE ONE OF THE FIRST XIANXIA ALL ALONG?
Problem is that Lung-bits probably only have the necessary mystical 'Dragon-ness' when he's fully transformed, which is rather a lot more powerful than Taylor can safely handle right now.I wonder how long it'll be before she goes out hunting down Lung for Dragon Heart Strings and liver, and maybe a tusk from which to forge a new sword...
They all have unisual features in their brains, but those features often don't have any similarities."But you're not a parahuman…are you?" The parahuman biology expert could not deny what she felt during the shared senses, but she also knew that all parahumans had a common brain feature that Taylor lacked. The two facts could not be reconciled, unless Taylor had a Stranger power to fool her own.
By definition of the words, none of what they said was wrong.I just started, but have one one thing I need to point at:
They all have unisual features in their brains, but those features often don't have any similarities.
Panacea's power can tell her "Hey, that thing here is Corona Pollenia", yes. But "that thing here" often will have very little resemblance with any other Corona Pollenia.
Not like that bit really matter for the purpose of that story. But that's common mistake, and might be important later, or in the another story.
If all parahumans have a Corona, then it is common among parahumans.
If all Coronas are in the brain, then it is a brain feature.
Ergo: Common brain feature.
Well, yeah, but not all waterfalls look alike, but they're seen often enough to be a 'common water feature'.I was under the impression that which part of the brain the Corona is in is different for every Parahuman, along with the Corona's shape being different as well.
Not just which part of the brain but even weather or not it's in the brain, as opposed to elsewhere in the body, is variable.I was under the impression that which part of the brain the Corona is in is different for every Parahuman, along with the Corona's shape being different as well.
