Stark Transcendent (Iron Man/Marvel Quest)

I'd also like to suggest that Pragmatic!Tony stay the hell out of melee combat and specialized for ranged weaponry. With stuff in the gauntlets for HtH or a carry space for a melee weapon. Ideally, we could find and hire a trusted martial artist, have a carbon copy of our suit sized to him (with reduced secondary functions and controlled directly by Jarvis with batteries only good for 15 minutes in it) and have him customize a martial art for us, then teach it to us.

Punching something to death is fuckoff stupid unless that's what your specific powerset specializes in. Pragmatic!Tony can be whatever he wants to be. And it's much easier to learn to shoot with auto-targeting than it is to learn enough martial arts to be a capable melee combatant.

The GM said that by not pursuing the armor route to escape in Afghanistan, we changed Tony's personality. We picked up the Careful trait, after all; that is definitely not canon!Tony's personality at all.

That, and we're pushing Tony to think about the Big Picture. It is not Big Picture to personally hat up and go kick someone's teeth in.
Well, in civil war Tony beat up Cap America thanks to the fact that his armor had a record of Cap's fighting style in it and as such was able to counter everything.. So it should possible to record moves into the armor and let the armor run it for us, kinda like a CQC module or program.

-deep frown- Let me put it this way. I came here to play in a quest where we control Tony 'Iron Man' Stark.

Not someone with Tony's name and face, but none of him in them.

Tony is, when you boil him down, a very straight forward person. He wears his feelings on his sleeve(though he tries and fails to hide them), he headbutts any problem in his way, he egotistically thinks that he knows better than everyone, and he does not back down from a fight.

Taking that directness, that egotistical certainty that when he's in his armor he can and will kick ass, out of him, means that your not playing Tony. You're playing someone who's Tony in name only.

Better to go play a game with a different character, albeit with an similar powerset, in an original setting, so you don't have the personality baggage of the real Tony.
I agree, i came here to play as Tony Stark in his Ironman suit, take that away and we'll just be playing as Tony Stark: Genius, billionaire, playboy, philanthropist.......

My point is, it wasn't the armor running the moves for Tony.
Er, i remember reading the part where Tony was taunting Cap with the fact that the Armor record his every move, and that it knows what moves his going to do before he makes it...

Can't find it online.. It was a comic page from Civil War, I think it was about how Tony arranged a meeting and turned it into a trap by beating Cap up... Not sure which one though... Gonna try finding it again

You don't want the power to generate unlimited forcefields? Invisibility is the least of her powers.
*eye roll*

Stark won't get the fantastic fours power set from jumping into 'cosmic rays'

Something completely different will happen given that every person involved in that accident manifested completely different powers.

Then there's no sense in worrying about turning into the thing.
That's great, please point me to where I said that.

besides which there are a huge number of possible outcomes where the cosmic ray outcome could screw stark over and do nothing useful for him.

It's a stupid power grab considering what he's going to be capable of any way.

Waste of time.

Besides, how do we know this will work in character? I thought the Fantastic four haven't actually been created yet?

We don't. We also don't know that there's anything to worry about at all in character, Nightblade was saying we should avoid space for blatant meta reasons.

Or we could end up like the invisible woman - go big or go home.
Hey look, all meta reasons. Nothing IC here except you wanting to try and grab a shiny that will likely do nothing good for stark.

IC reason, Tony Stark wants to work on his tan and he figured why bother with the middleman like atmosphere ? Tanning with pure cosmic rays is the rich way to tan! ;)

I wasn't the one who brought up the meta reasons. Our in character reason for going in space is, you know, tech advancement, money, wanting to show up Reed, etc. What's our in character reason for not wanting to go into space?

We have better things to do with our time considering that the company is selling weapons to terrorists we have an actively hostile board of directors that only suffers Tony whilst he can make bank. We have people trying to send us a message by killing people considered to be friends or acquaintances to us.

A huge number of reasons to get on with other shit, and even if we do decide to show up reed and beat him into space. The idea of launching on the same day as him is pretty silly. We could beat him to the punch by a week or a month to properly show him up.

In the movie Stark ignores the board for the most part because Stark + Obadiahs shares are larger than 50%. If you're going with IC reasoning, Tony doesn't really care what the board thinks because he believes Obidiah to support him. This turned out to be incorrect in the movie. However IC he has no reason to think that.

I support going to space on the basis of showing Reed up. This is a good IC reason, and my meta reason is that I just dislike Reed, so basically the same reason as Stark.

I got an idea? Why not try to cooperate with Reed? A feud gets us nowhere. The guy is trying to do a space mission right? Why not offer him repulsor engines in exchange for whatever data he gets?

Reed... share data with us?

Reed doesn't share anything he discovers outside of himself/the FF possibly.

He's more likely to thank us for the engines and not give anything in return. Or if we said we'd give him repulsor tech(which we should be keeping to ourselves for now) and we'd like data in return, he would most likely say no to the repulsor tech. That's if he'd even accept something from us. He heavily dislikes us. Has for many years.

On a different note...

I'm curious what's the likelihood of S.H.I.E.L.D hacking our database for IM info or anything we invent.
I wonder if we should keep any info locked behind super awesome firewalls behind JARVIS.. or keep it in paper form. Or shred it and keep it all in our mind, I mean we were able to remember the.. whatever it was called that we used on the terrorists, and there were no copies of it around...

Also, I'm curious. If we joined S.H.I.E.L.D would we get more tech slots?

On another note.. Britain is going to love us when we sell Arc Reactors. Britain irl is reliant upon the gas pipes that run through the Ukraine for much of our energy. If that carries over into Marvel, then the Arc Reactors will be a massive boon for the British Government. They would pay an absolute bomb for Arc Reactors.
Similarily, Japan, America and other first world nations, and maybe some third world nations will want to buy arc reactors too.

Russia won't be happy with Stark Industries though... since we'd be cutting a massive market of theirs away with our Arc Reactors, making many nations self-sufficient.

Just keep it on separate physical network, that is not connected to any other physical network. Then have Jarvis veto any physical connections that aren't authorized by Stark.

Edit: If you want to be really nasty just create a virus that will crash any system that isn't similar to ours in software and hardware. Have this virus be bonded with any schematics we but on our own private network.
