Starfleet Design Bureau

I wish to toss my suggestion in for Julien Reverchon.

He was a French Botanist who is now famous in Internet circles for his work in the Dallas area, and because the puppet of him became the villain in the Internet series The Oldest View.
I guess technically if Darwin is picked both our choices would technically come under it.

Same with John Muir (though he's a bit more on the Attenborough side of things). Be kinda funny if Attenborough gets picked and they end up finding what's basically an alien dinosaur.

It's Star Trek, the alien dinosaurs are sapient and have had warp drive for millions of years.

As long as there's one Reverchon out there, I'll be happy.

I'm liking the idea of the Klingons hearing of the Valley View monster through their intelligence backchannels and wondering why we named a botany ship after it.

After twentieth century TV celebrities?
Hardly.

After a noted family of Australian conservationists, starting with Bob Irwin.
Robert Eric Irwin (born 8 June 1939) is an Australian naturalist, animal conservationist, former zookeeper, and a herpetologist known for his conservation and husbandry work with apex predators and reptiles. He is the founder of the Queensland Reptile and Fauna Park (now known as Australia Zoo). His son was the conservationist and well-known international television personality Steve Irwin.

Though if you want to get technical that's covered under Attenborough, who is also a 'twentieth century tv celebrity' if you want to use that kind of dismissive language against the Irwin's.

I actually like Darwin, but I don't think we've ever kept a project name as the actual ship class name and I don't want to start now.

Maybe Pollen class?

I like Attenborough though Darwin is good as well. Also a very nice ship that we have built. Will be useful for helping colonize and help worlds already inside the federation.

"And here you see the starfleet researcher in their natural habitat. Note the blue plumage, used to signify their role to others of the fleet so that they may be protected from outsiders. A rare specimen, due to the introduction of the invasive Klingon, it is only through conservation, and protection that we can keep these wonderful creatures...
*Starfleet Science Officer pushes buttons on Tricorder* ...Amazing."

I just like his voice, and reading that name makes me think of his voice, so I like it :)
