Hello everyone! This is a spiritual reboot of my Kantai Collection RP called Steam Supremacy which was inspired by CCBubba's Darkest Hour and CV12Hornet's One Needs a Certain Darkness, like them, this is set in modern times, but with my own little twist. We're going farther back in ship design than WWI and WWII warships, to the times of old where coal is gold, guns are almost everything, and iron, steel, and steam rule the waves. That's right, we're in the age of steamships, friends. Furthermore, there is one more twist y'all will not be playing as shipgirls, you will be making abyssals that fight for humanity be it for a twisted sense of duty or some other reason against an as of yet unknown enemy.

While there will be death in this RP, it won't be permanent. However, resummoning your character will mean they lose any upgrades gained over the course of the RP, and it will take time in-universe, at the very least until after the current mission has ended.

Combat will be stylistic, combat ranges will be shorter as a result but there will be more leeway on how attacks and maneuvers are done. You will also be able to quickly switch between a full hull and a rigging.

This is meant to be a relaxed RP where everyone has fun, enjoy yourselves!

  10. Please try for a mix of nationalities and classes (this includes torpedo gunboats and unprotected cruisers as options)
  11. If your character should fall in battle, it does not necessarily mean the end, players will be given the option to continue using that character with the loss of upgrades.

    I sport a pale complexion and glowing eyes, indicators of me being an Abyssal.

    My rigging takes the form of a barnacled dark red coat of embedded steel plates around me, a black tricorne hat with conning tower, funnels, and glowing blue eye, a sharklike cutlass representing my ram, a nine-chambered snakelike revolver representing my QF 12-pounder guns, ten black tentacles behind my back, ending in cannon muzzles representing my QF 6-inch guns, and jellyfishlike grenades, representing my 18-inch torpedoes, on either side of my coat. I can dual-wield sword and gun, and I'm ambidextrous with my weapons.
    Hull:

    Personality: Usually the quiet, introverted type, but can get excitable (whether in a subdued way or not) regarding things I like. Tends to stay out of arguments, unless they affect me greatly. Can have a bit of a temper when sufficiently provoked, as well as a vindictive side. Likes visualizing things, imagining nice situations, and sometimes, I just want to lose myself in them. Has an interest in technology, especially that of cars, airplanes, tanks, warships and the like. Oh, and likes taking afternoon naps, too. Dislikes being interrupted at whatever I'm doing, which I find to be annoying at times. In terms of my way of thinking, I tend to be more straightforward than eccentric, more realistic than fantastical.

    Quirks:
    • Fear of dogs and fire.
    • Has a privateer-like motif.
    • Style-wise, my guns look as if they fire energy bolts that still travel in ballistic trajectories. My torpedoes look like jellyfish, while my smokescreen looks like a thick cloud of fog. Actually, I'm usually surrounded by a thin layer of mist whenever I enter battle.
    • In a fight, I'd generally act as a destroyer would, maneuvering like crazy, dropping smokescreens, and firing everything as rapidly as I can, usually prioritizing torpedo boats, gunboats, destroyers and transports, followed by cruisers, and followed by battleships. I favor close-range engagements where guns have a harder time facing towards me, where I can bring my torpedoes to bear, and where I can employ ramming and boarding actions.

    Bio: Falls asleep one ordinary night, then wakes up as an Abyssal based on a historical ship with its own legend. Basically a Drop-In or isekai background. Uhh...

    History:
    • No, I'm not the historical Golden Hind. Rather, I'm an Abyssal crystallization of its legend, taking a form more appropriate for the steamboat era.

    Dislikes: Violence, misery, early death, politics, bullying, "kicking the cat", bigotry, being misgendered, disastrous conditions

    "Behold, the jewel of Mediterranean herself! Gaze in wonder and be awed by the beauty and strength of this Formidable, the first ship of Regia Marina!"​

    Bombastic and with grand ego, generally cheerful and energetic, she is rather hard to enrage, but as with all things, once that is accomplished, her fury is passionate as well. Prefers physical activity, especially outdoors.
    Quirks:
    • Her arrogant personality hides a core of insecurity and shame.
      • "There was... a battle, I was supposed to spearhead, but cowardice prevented me from doing my duty. I was not present, and we lost. This time, I will not allow it. This time, I will be there...
    • Because of that, she tends to be somewhat of an overachiever.
    • She is surprisingly, or perhaps unsurprisingly, good at financial side of running a navy.
    Bio:
    History:     Build for Sardinian Navy, she was finished and launched after proclamation of Kingdom of Italy. During Third Italian War of Independence, she bombarded coastal fortifications off the coast of Lissa, during which she sustained damage and casualties which caused her captain to refuse participation in the ensuing battle against Austrian Navy. After the war, due to budget cuts and rapid march of technology, she quickly fell into disuse, ending as a training ship before being scrapped in 1903.

    Likes: French, wine, summer days, fencing, keeping up to date with naval technology
    Dislikes: Austrians, budget cuts, disappointing people, being prevented from fulfilling her duty, her old captain

    Appearance:
    Personality: Stoic who easily rolls with the punches. Amicable if a bit fatalistic, always expecting some catch or complication.
    Quirks:
    • Has great fascination with American South and Wild West.
    • She is also Japanophile, although she has dislike for its history of military dictators.
    • She speaks fluent French and Danish.
    • She might, just possibly, have slight abandonment issues.
    Bio:
    History:     Kotetsu was build by the France on the order of the Confederate states, however, under the presser of the United States, the ship was instead sold to Danish who composed her initial crew on her sail to Copenhagen, although Danish themselves had no need for her and sold her right back to the Confederacy. However, before she could finally arrive in America, the Civil War had ended and she was sold off to Japan, purchased by the Tokugawa Shogunate, although by the time she has arrived, Japan descended into Bonshin war and instead, Kotetsu became the flagship of newly formed Imperial Japanese Navy of the Meiji government, where she distinguished herself in battles of Miyako Bay and Hakodate Bay against Shogunate forces.

    Quirks: Absolutely in love with a certain show *cough*KamenRiderobssession*cough*, Terrified of sharp rocks when at sea, drinks tea steeped from teabags, though now with added alcohol...
