Snake Eyes - A Casino Owner Quest in an Occult World

oh... also, the demon is coming in the next turn?
Yup, the Clock will go 4/4 at the End Phase of this turn, meaning that you'll get the event before the Main Phase of the First Week of November.
And no action to look up occult stuff on the internet or get more books on it... oh well.
Wasn't in the dialogue, but I think Dave would have told you that the main issue is that a Demon will come, but he cannot guarantee you will meet the same one. Your hunch agree.

Info that Dave would have told you, but I forgot to add in the main dialogue. Assume that you got them last week in a separate day from the Poker Game.

- The Demon went to his Casino and asked for an outrageous amount of money: six funds. Each week.
- She looked like a woman with a long black dress and a grey veil covering her face.
- Dave told her to fuck off.
- The Demon attacked using her voice. Mechanically speaking, she dealt Sanity Damage.
- They "killed her", but before vanishing, she stated that it wouldn't be enough to "Placate her Hunger". Whatever it meant.
- Main issue Dave and his security found was that the thing was extremely tough: she got one gunshot point blank in the chest, but the hole closed with the bullet inside. She felt the damage, but was still fighting. Mechanically, she had 1 armor.

Probably Dave give you better info that you will find with a single action.
hm... im not sure what to do with John... either throw him at the fight too, as above... or would he improve the casino's defenses if we left him without a task for now?
Only for the current turn. When the Demon will come, you all will be here to met him. So you can send John in mission and he will be present when the Demon will be back.

If you have some ideas about extra actions, remember that you can propose and I'll tell you if they can work. As I write every turn:
The list is not exhaustive, but I come up with these

Probably Dave give you better info that you will find with a single action.
i meant like shutting down the casino for that day and the like, or something, what with....
In a month, one of us will come to talk business. We advise you to keep your place closed for the meeting.
being the letter.

the getting more info on the occult was just in general, not the demon, specifically. Although... is there any temple.... oh, wait, we would need to explore for that huh?

hm... we should probably also get people specifically to go on shopping trips, later on...

i meant like shutting down the casino for that day and the like, or something, what with....
Ernesto will do that automatically. He's smart enough to understand that if a Demon goes into a rampage with customers around, you won't have a business for long.

I think I can come out with sonething. I'm from cellphone, so:
[] Dig for Occult Info (Brain): Dark web, forgotten message boards, old newspaper: it's impossible that you won't find a lead on your Occult issues by performing a deep search. Start looking and see what you find.

Wanted to get stuff from Mercy's friend too, but... Ernesto is the best speaker and the new weapons are only usable from the turn after we bought them anyways...
Maybe it was unclear, but if you buy the weapons now, you will have them when the Demon comes.
Although... is there any temple.... oh, wait, we would need to explore for that huh?
Yeah, Exploration. When you explore, you can specify if you are looking for something in particular.

oh, thanks for the clarifications!
especially this:

so, any action that gets new stuff, the new stuff isnt applied while the turn is ongoing because its still being delivered/bought.
But any event happening at turn end, like a clock filling or random events, will use the new stuff because its already delivered/secured in the casino?

Sorry for being pedant, but i have reasonable doubts on my reading comprehension.

Nono, maybe I wasn't clear.
You can consider the action resolving during the current turn and I update the sheets twice: at the end of the Resolution Phase I (where I resolve the actions of the Main Action Phase) and during the End Phase (where I have the bookkepping).
If you buy weapons, I would update the character at the end of the Resolution Phase I of the current turn, meaning that they weapons won't be available for the other actions of the Resolution Phase I.
But because the Clock ticks during the Resolution Phase II, the weapons will be already added to the character sheets.

The scheme is this one:
- Main Action Phase
- Resolution Phase I
- Character sheets get updated
- Resolution Phase II
- Clocks get resolved
- End Phase
- Character sheets get updated
- New Main Action Phase

I have this turn structure so that I know where I'm updating the stuff and when they get available. Maybe I should have been more clear.

With that clarified, i feel confident in buying some nice things from Alex.

[X] Warm Welcome
-[X] Contact Mercy's friend (Tongue): Alex, an ex-colleague of Mercy, deals in weapons. You can get normal stuff or, if you have the money and the luck, the good stuff.
-[X] Buy some nice things: With all these problems, getting some more DIY materials is hardly wasted money. You pride yourself as a man which is always ready. Get some more tools (Improve the effects of "Saw this coming") (Ernesto)
-[X] Resolve things for good (Special): If you want them to go quickly, the only way is to go to them, shoot them and don't stop until they run away or die. They'll have the home advantage and resist heavily, but they won't have the time to take their things with them. (Initiate a Combat Miniturn) (Mercy, John, Guard 1)

I added this scheme to the Mechanics post. If I get home in normal conditions, I plan to add the Omake Policy and other small thread rules.

I wrapped up early in the lab today, so I'm heading home now.
Going to close the vote in two hours, probably.

Vote is closed. One sec and I'll post the first miniturn.

Combat Miniturn: Defanging the Jackals I

Defanging the Jackals

The decision was taken, and now what remained was to plan the attack.

Mercy, John, Felix and his men were around one of the green tables during the morning cleaning, so with all the space for them. On the table, a reproduction of the blueprints that Ernesto obtained and the dossiers of Fulvia's scouting.

"I don't think there's a lot of planning to do: we go in, start blasting until nobody moves" Mercy began, while John was studying the maps.

"My only concern is that The Maw could try to escape. There are various exits and if the goons put up a serious fight, he may have time to skitter away." Followed Felix, with the support of his men.

"Maybe we can solve the thing: Ernesto found an entry from the drug lab. A group can distract Maw's men while another could break down the plywood during the gunfight and reach what should be Maw's room." John tapped the two places on the blueprint. "I can try to sneak from here while you cover me and try to put him down. I don't think his men will keep fighting if he's dead."

Mercy nodded: "Maybe if we two go, with Felix covering us, we can try to kill the fucker quickly. Are you fine with this?" She turned to Felix, who frowned.

"I would prefer to have your support. Considering what you did with the ambush, if you went with us we could break the small fries quicker and if John pins down the Maw, arrive in time to offer support."

Now, how to proceed?

[ ] Shock and Awe: Felix's Guards, John and Mercy will attack the Jackal's Den directly. The Maw would have a small time window to escape, though. (Normal combat)

[ ] Pin the Maw: John would try to sneak his way from the drug lab while Mercy and Felix's Guards start fighting, distracting the thugs. In this case, John will be alone against the Maw, but he could do it. Shadows Roll with John to ambush the Maw)

[ ] Cut the Head off: Felix's Guard will take the brunt of the attack against the thugs while Mercy and John go directly for the Maw. Two against one are odds that the Maw would not survive. (Shadow Roll for John and Mercy for the ambush of the Maw).

[ ] Blasting: Mercy isn't suited for sneaking around and she is sure that she would win a 1 vs 1 against the Maw. Blast down the Plywood and go straight for the murder of the asshole while John and Felix's Guard keep the small fries busy. (Shadow Roll for Mercy to ambush the Maw).

[ ] Write-in. Subjected to QM-Veto.

QM Notes: I'm proposing some plans accounting for your character's strength point, but I may have missed something. I'm here if you have questions.

[X] Pin the Maw: John would try to sneak his way from the drug lab while Mercy and Felix's Guards start fighting, distracting the thugs. In this case, John will be alone against the Maw, but he could do it. Shadows Roll with John to ambush the Maw)

More the merrier, so long as they don't go at each other.

Hey guys, do you think it's a problem if I close the vote a bit early?
So I can start working on the update this evening (for me), considering that I'll need four dice rolls for the first combat turn and probably others.

Closing the vote in two hours.
If the current winner will win, I'll need the following rolls:
- Felix's Guards Attack
- Mercy's Attack
- John's Stealth Roll (Shadow)
- John's Attack.
